fe80b0e53d wifi: iwlwifi: cfg: clean up Sc/Dr/Br configs
For now, the WH and PE radios require the same config as
FM, so just add a #define for those instead of copying
the data. Since this is true, Sc/Dr/Br all used the same
configs for all RF types, but that's confusing, so now
use the defined WH/PE names for the correct combinations.

We can also now enable the unit test that ensures we have
no duplicate RF configs.

b8eee90f0b wifi: iwlwifi: cfg: unify num_rbds config
This should depend on both the RF (VHT/HE/EHT support) and
the MAC (<=22000 can put multiple frames into one buffer),
so unify the config in the struct iwl_cfg to just have it
sized according to the RF, and then double it for all the
MACs starting from AX210 (So/Ty).

03e433545c wifi: iwlwifi: cfg: add ucode API min/max to MAC config
In some older devices, the min/max firmware API supported by
the driver depends on the specific device, when sharing the
the same MAC (config). For most newer devices, it really is
dependent on the MAC instead, since the firmware was frozen
for certain MAC types. However, in the future we expect also
freezes for RF types there.

To handle this most generally, add an API min/max to the MAC
config and then use the narrowest range prescribed by both,
if set.

For the newer MACs since 9000, move the configuration, there
was only a freeze on MAC+RF lines so far.

857ecb8524 wifi: iwlwifi: cfg: move MAC parameters to MAC data
There are a number of MAC parameters that are in the iwl_cfg
(which is the last config matched to the MAC/RF combination).
This isn't necessary, there are many more of those than MACs,
so move (most of) the data into the MAC family config struct.

Note that DCCM information remains for use by older devices,
and on 9000 series it'll be in struct iwl_cfg but be ignored
when the CRF is in a Qu/So platform.

83128399f3 wifi: iwlwifi: mld: call thermal exit without wiphy lock held
The driver must not hold the wiphy mutex when unregistering the thermal
devices. Do not hold the lock for the call to iwl_mld_thermal_exit and
only do a lock/unlock to cancel the ct_kill_exit_wk work.

The problem is that iwl_mld_tzone_get_temp needs to take the wiphy lock
while the thermal code is holding its own locks already. When
unregistering the device, the reverse would happen as the driver was
calling thermal_cooling_device_unregister with the wiphy mutex already
held.

It is not likely to trigger this deadlock as it can only happen if the
thermal code is polling the temperature while the driver is being
unloaded. However, lockdep reported it so fix it.

Instead, stop checking the counters from the moment we started
scanning, and when the scan ends - clear the counters and schedule a
check in 5 seconds, as usual.

Note that this is only done for regular scan since MLO scan is too short
to affect the counters, and scheduled scan is mainly used when we are

Also note that we only stop checking whether to block EMLSR, and not if to

35ac275ebe wifi: iwlwifi: cfg: finish config split
A long time ago, when transport vs. device configs were
introduced, we wanted to eventually have a list of PCI

embedded the transport config in the whole config, and
it all got confusing.

Finish splitting that out. Doing so requires having more
IWL_DEV_INFO() entries, but the whole trans/cfg aliasing
goes away and the code becomes a lot simpler.

ac1ee8130a wifi: iwlwifi: cfg: clean up BW limit and subdev matching
The BW limit, cores and RF ID are matched in the subdevice ID,
so it doesn't really make sense to have both SUBDEV() match and
a match on any of those three. In particular, for Killer devices
the subdevice ID doesn't even follow the layout, so no matching
should be on those three values at all, only with SUBDEV().

Change the logic around the BW limit to have it more like all
the other things: only a bw_limit match in the dev_info, and
put the actual bandwidth into struct iwl_cfg. This duplicates a
number of those values, but that way the logic is clearer.

Add a test that checks that the three matches mentioned above
are not used in conjunction with SUBDEV(), and check that if
the bw_limit is matched, a BW limit is provided in the config.
Also check that the "Killer" devices have a SUBDEV() match.

negotiate with the WiFi firmware which makes it appear to the
driver as the reset interrupt. To distinguish it from all the
other reasons for the reset interrupt, there's (now) a status
field in CSR 0x110.

Implement the part of TOP reset where we react to BT doing it.
This requires disambiguating the interrupt, depending on the
state of the device, since we can even get TOP reset from BT
while waiting for the reset handshake.

If TOP reset is done by BT while we're not trying to do reset
anyway, then simply reprobe, since we cannot keep the state
of the device as it's being reset, after waiting the needed
180ms to let the device reset/settle.

b68df31ce6 wifi: iwlwifi: mld: properly handle async notification in op mode start
From the moment that we have ALIVE, we can receive notification that
are handled asynchronously.

Some notifications (for example iwl_rfi_support_notif) requires an
operational FW. So we need to make sure that they were handled in
iwl_op_mode_mld_start before we stop the FW. Flush the async_handlers_wk
there to achieve that.

Also, if loading the FW in op mode start failed, we need to cancel
these notifications, as they are from a dead FW.

More than that, not doing so can cause us to access freed memory
if async_handlers_wk is executed after ieee80211_free_hw is called.

Fix this by canceling all async notifications if a failure occurred in

833026098b wifi: iwlwifi: mld: refactor purging async notifications

Note that the caller iwl_cleanup_mld didn't cancel the work, but it is

e1d35eabdd wifi: iwlwifi: mld: don't do iwl_trans_stop_device twice
If iwl_mld_load_fw failed, we call iwl_mld_stop_fw which does, among the
others, iwl_trans_stop_device. But this is already called from
iwl_mld_load_fw's error path.

Since we do need the other stuff of iwl_mld_stop_fw to be done also in
the error path of iwl_mld_load_fw, just call it there.

This also makes the call to iwl_fw_flush_dumps in
iwl_mld_op_mope_start redundant, since it is the same as iwl_fw_dbg_stop_sync.

4f7a077919 wifi: iwlwifi: mld: properly handle async notification in op mode start

Fix this by canceling all async notifications if a failure occurred in

ac71fabf15 gcc-15: work around sequence-point warning
The C sequence points are complicated things, and gcc-15 has apparently
added a warning for the case where an object is both used and modified
multiple times within the same sequence point.

That's a great warning.

Or rather, it would be a great warning, except gcc-15 seems to not
really be very exact about it, and doesn't notice that the modification
are to two entirely different members of the same object: the array
counter and the array entries.

So that seems kind of silly.

That said, the code that gcc complains about is unnecessarily
complicated, so moving the array counter update into a separate
statement seems like the most straightforward fix for these warnings:

  drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/mld/d3.c: In function ‘iwl_mld_set_netdetect_info’:
drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/mld/d3.c:1102:66: error: operation on ‘netdetect_info->n_matches’ may be undefined [-Werror=sequence-point]
   1102 |                 netdetect_info->matches[netdetect_info->n_matches++] = match;
        | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^~

drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/mld/d3.c:1120:58: error: operation on ‘match->n_channels’ may be undefined [-Werror=sequence-point]
   1120 |                         match->channels[match->n_channels++] =
        | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^~

side note: the code at that second warning is actively buggy, and only
works on little-endian machines that don't do strict alignment checks.

The code casts an array of integers into an array of unsigned long in
order to use our bitmap iterators. That happens to work fine on any
sane architecture, but it's still wrong.

This does *not* fix that more serious problem. This only splits the two
assignments into two statements and fixes the compiler warning. I need
to get rid of the new warnings in order to be able to actually do any
build testing.

Commit 44605365f9 ("iwlwifi: mld: fix building with CONFIG_PM_SLEEP
disabled") sought to fix build breakage, but inadvertently introduced
a new issue:

iwl_mld_mac80211_start() no longer calls iwl_mld_start_fw() after having
called iwl_mld_stop_fw() in the error path of iwl_mld_no_wowlan_resume().

Fix it.

5f05c14e7c wifi: iwlwifi: pcie: set state to no-FW before reset handshake
The reset handshake attempts to kill the firmware, and it'll go
into a pretty much dead state once we do that. However, if it
times out, then we'll attempt to dump the firmware to be able
to see why it didn't respond. During this dump, we cannot treat
it as if it was still running, since we just tried to kill it,
otherwise dumping will attempt to send a DBGC stop command. As
this command will time out, we'll go into a reset loop.

For now, fix this by setting the trans->state to say firmware
isn't running before doing the reset handshake. In the longer
term, we should clean up the way this state is handled.

It's not entirely clear but it seems likely that this issue was
introduced by my rework of the error handling, prior to that it
would've been synchronous at that point and (I think) not have
attempted to reset since it was already doing down.

e74c0a7875 wifi: iwlwifi: dvm: Avoid -Wflex-array-member-not-at-end warnings
-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end was introduced in GCC-14, and we are
getting ready to enable it, globally.

So, in order to avoid ending up with a flexible-array member in the
middle of multiple other structs, we use the `__struct_group()`
helper to create a new tagged `struct iwl_tx_cmd_hdr`. This structure
groups together all the members of the flexible `struct iwl_tx_cmd`
except the flexible array.

As a result, the array is effectively separated from the rest of the
members without modifying the memory layout of the flexible structure.
We then change the type of the middle struct members currently causing
trouble from `struct iwl_tx_cmd` to `struct iwl_tx_cmd_hdr`.

We also want to ensure that when new members need to be added to the
flexible structure, they are always included within the newly created
tagged struct. For this, we use `static_assert()`. This ensures that the
memory layout for both the flexible structure and the new tagged struct
is the same after any changes.

This approach avoids having to implement `struct iwl_tx_cmd_hdr`
as a completely separate structure, thus preventing having to maintain
two independent but basically identical structures, closing the door
to potential bugs in the future.

So, with these changes, fix the following warnings:

drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/dvm/commands.h:2315:27: warning: structure containing a flexible array member is not at the end of another structure [-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end]

5789f7913e wifi: iwlwifi: mld: iwl_mld_remove_link can't fail
iwl_mld_remove_link removes the link from both the FW and from the
driver.
If removing it from the FW failed, we assume that the FW is
dead anyway and remove it from the driver as well.
On the other hand, we still return an error value, indicating the caller
(i.e. mac80211) that the link couldn't be removed - while it was
actually removed.
Later, mac80211 might tell the driver again to remove that link,
and then the driver will warn that it doesn't exist.

Fix this by making iwl_mld_remove_link a void function.

8301e2636c wifi: iwlwifi: mld: Ensure wiphy lock is held during debugfs read operations
The WIPHY_DEBUGFS_READ_WRITE_FILE_OPS_MLD macro is intended to call
read/write handlers with the wiphy lock held. However, the current
implementation uses the MLD_DEBUGFS_READ_WRAPPER macro, which does
not hold the wiphy lock during read operations. This fix updates
the WIPHY_DEBUGFS_READ_WRITE_FILE_OPS_MLD macro to use the
WIPHY_DEBUGFS_READ_WRAPPER_MLD macro instead, ensuring that the
wiphy lock is held during both read and write operations.

9324731b99 wifi: iwlwifi: mld: avoid selecting bad links
Currently, we don't select a link that wasn't heared in the last 5

But if the link started to suffer from missed beacons more recent than

Fix this by checking if a link was heared in the last MLO scan,

Since we do an MLO scan on missed beacons, we will not hear that link in
that scan, and won't select it.

1801a94299 wifi: iwlwifi: trans: cancel restart work on op mode leave
If the restart work happens to run after the opmode left
(i.e. called iwl_trans_op_mode_leave), then the opmode memory (including
its mutex) is likely to be freed already, and trans->opmode is NULL.

Although the hw is stopped in that stage, which means that this restart
got aborted (i.e. STATUS_RESET_PENDING will be cleared),
it still can access trans->opmode (NULL pointer dereference)
or the opmodes memory (which is freed).

Fix this by canceling the restart wk in iwl_trans_op_mode_leave.
Also make sure that the restart wk is really aborted.

b8c8a03e9b wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: fix PNVM timeout for non-MSI-X platforms
When MSI-X is not enabled, we mask all the interrupts in the interrupt
handler and re-enable them when the interrupt thread runs. If
STATUS_INT_ENABLED is not set, we won't re-enable in the thread.
In order to get the ALIVE interrupt, we allow the ALIVE interrupt
itself, and RX as well in order to receive the ALIVE notification (which
is received as an RX from the firmware.

The problem is that STATUS_INT_ENABLED is clear until the op_mode calls
trans_fw_alive which means that until trans_fw_alive is called, any
notification from the firmware will not be received.

This became a problem when we inserted the pnvm_load exactly between the
ALIVE and trans_fw_alive.

Fix that by calling trans_fw_alive before loading the PNVM. This will
allow to get the notification from the firmware about PNVM load being
complete and continue the flow normally.

This didn't happen on MSI-X because we don't disable the interrupts in
the ISR when MSI-X is available.

The error in the log looks like this:

iwlwifi 0000:00:03.0: Timeout waiting for PNVM load!
iwlwifi 0000:00:03.0: Failed to start RT ucode: -110
iwlwifi 0000:00:03.0: WRT: Collecting data: ini trigger 13 fired (delay=0ms).
