b48b89f9c1 net: drop the weight argument from netif_napi_add
We tell driver developers to always pass NAPI_POLL_WEIGHT
as the weight to netif_napi_add(). This may be confusing
to newcomers, drop the weight argument, those who really
need to tweak the weight can use netif_napi_add_weight().

6a1dbfefda net: sh_eth: Fix PHY state warning splat during system resume
Since commit 744d23c71a ("net: phy: Warn about incorrect
mdio_bus_phy_resume() state"), a warning splat is printed during system
resume with Wake-on-LAN disabled:

	WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 626 at drivers/net/phy/phy_device.c:323 mdio_bus_phy_resume+0xbc/0xe4

As the Renesas SuperH Ethernet driver already calls phy_{stop,start}()
in its suspend/resume callbacks, it is sufficient to just mark the MAC
responsible for managing the power state of the PHY.

949f252a85 net: ravb: Add R-Car Gen4 support
Add support for the Renesas Ethernet AVB (EtherAVB-IF) blocks on R-Car
Gen4 SoCs (e.g. R-Car V4H) by matching on a family-specific compatible
value.

These are treated the same as EtherAVB on R-Car Gen3.

e1154be731 ravb: Add support for RZ/V2M
RZ/V2M Ethernet is very similar to R-Car Gen3 Ethernet-AVB, though
some small parts are the same as R-Car Gen2.
Other differences to R-Car Gen3 and Gen2 are:
* It has separate data (DI), error (Line 1) and management (Line 2) irqs
  rather than one irq for all three.
* Instead of using the High-speed peripheral bus clock for gPTP, it has a
  separate gPTP reference clock.

72069a7b28 ravb: Use separate clock for gPTP
RZ/V2M has a separate gPTP reference clock that is used when the
AVB-DMAC Mode Register (CCC) gPTP Clock Select (CSEL) bits are
set to "01: High-speed peripheral bus clock".
Therefore, add a feature that allows this clock to be used for
gPTP.

b0265dcba3 ravb: Support separate Line0 (Desc), Line1 (Err) and Line2 (Mgmt) irqs
R-Car has a combined interrupt line, ch22 = Line0_DiA | Line1_A | Line2_A.
RZ/V2M has separate interrupt lines for each of these, so add a feature
that allows the driver to get these interrupts and call the common handler.

cb99badde1 ravb: Separate handling of irq enable/disable regs into feature
Currently, when the HW has a single interrupt, the driver uses the
GIC, TIC, RIC0 registers to enable and disable interrupts.
When the HW has multiple interrupts, it uses the GIE, GID, TIE, TID,
RIE0, RID0 registers.

However, other devices, e.g. RZ/V2M, have multiple irqs and only have
the GIC, TIC, RIC0 registers.
Therefore, split this into a separate feature.

91398a960e ravb: Use GFP_KERNEL instead of GFP_ATOMIC when possible
'max_rx_len' can be up to GBETH_RX_BUFF_MAX (i.e. 8192) (see
'gbeth_hw_info').
The default value of 'num_rx_ring' can be BE_RX_RING_SIZE (i.e. 1024).

So this loop can allocate 8 Mo of memory.

Previous memory allocations in this function already use GFP_KERNEL, so
use __netdev_alloc_skb() and an explicit GFP_KERNEL instead of a
implicit GFP_ATOMIC.

This gives more opportunities of successful allocation.

73c105ad2a phy: make phy_set_max_speed() *void*
After following the call tree of phy_set_max_speed(), it became clear
that this function never returns anything but 0, so we can change its
result type to *void* and drop the result checks from the three drivers
that actually bothered to do it...

9c9211a3fc net_tstamp: add new flag HWTSTAMP_FLAG_BONDED_PHC_INDEX
Since commit 94dd016ae5 ("bond: pass get_ts_info and SIOC[SG]HWTSTAMP
ioctl to active device") the user could get bond active interface's
PHC index directly. But when there is a failover, the bond active
interface will change, thus the PHC index is also changed. This may
break the user's program if they did not update the PHC timely.

This patch adds a new hwtstamp_config flag HWTSTAMP_FLAG_BONDED_PHC_INDEX.
When the user wants to get the bond active interface's PHC, they need to
add this flag and be aware the PHC index may be changed.

With the new flag. All flag checks in current drivers are removed. Only
the checking in net_hwtstamp_validate() is kept.

d9f31aeaa1 ethernet: renesas: Use div64_ul instead of do_div
do_div() does a 64-by-32 division. Here the divisor is an
unsigned long which on some platforms is 64 bit wide. So use
div64_ul instead of do_div to avoid a possible truncation.

Eliminate the following coccicheck warning:
./drivers/net/ethernet/renesas/ravb_main.c:2492:1-7: WARNING:
do_div() does a 64-by-32 division, please consider using div64_ul
instead.

0b08956cd5 ethernet: renesas: use eth_hw_addr_set()
Commit 406f42fa0d ("net-next: When a bond have a massive amount
of VLANs...") introduced a rbtree for faster Ethernet address look
up. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all
the writes to it got through appropriate helpers.

Break the address up into an array on the stack, then call
eth_hw_addr_set().

2e95e08ac0 ravb: Add rx_max_buf_size to struct ravb_hw_info
R-Car AVB-DMAC has maximum 2K size on RX buffer, whereas on RZ/G2L
it is 8K. We need to allow for changing the MTU within the limit
of the maximum size of a descriptor.

Add a rx_max_buf_size variable to struct ravb_hw_info to handle
this difference.

feab85c7cc ravb: Add support for RZ/G2L SoC
RZ/G2L SoC has Gigabit Ethernet IP consisting of Ethernet controller
(E-MAC), Internal TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) and Dedicated Direct
memory access controller (DMAC).

This patch adds compatible string for RZ/G2L and fills up the
ravb_hw_info struct. Function stubs are added which will be used by
gbeth_hw_info and will be filled incrementally.

0341d5e3d1 net: renesas: sh_eth: Fix freeing wrong tx descriptor
The cur_tx counter must be incremented after TACT bit of
txdesc->status was set. However, a CPU is possible to reorder
instructions and/or memory accesses between cur_tx and
txdesc->status. And then, if TX interrupt happened at such a
timing, the sh_eth_tx_free() may free the descriptor wrongly.
So, add wmb() before cur_tx++.
Otherwise NETDEV WATCHDOG timeout is possible to happen.

On R-Car the checksum calculation on RX frames is done by the E-MAC
module, whereas on RZ/G2L it is done by the TOE.

TOE calculates the checksum of received frames from E-MAC and outputs it to
DMAC. TOE also calculates the checksum of transmission frames from DMAC and
outputs it E-MAC.

Add net_features and net_hw_features to struct ravb_hw_info, to support
subsequent SoCs without any code changes in the ravb_probe function.

The DMAC and EMAC blocks of Gigabit Ethernet IP found on RZ/G2L SoC are
similar to the R-Car Ethernet AVB IP. With a few changes in the driver we
can support both IPs.

This patch adds the struct ravb_hw_info to hold hw features, driver data
and function pointers to support both the IPs. It also replaces the driver
data chip type with struct ravb_hw_info by moving chip type to it.

This is a recurring problem in many drivers, and we have discussed
it several times befores, without reaching a consensus. I'm providing
a link to the previous email thread for reference, which discusses
some related problems.

To solve the dependency issue better than the 'imply' keyword, introduce a
separate Kconfig symbol "CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK_OPTIONAL" that any driver
can depend on if it is able to use PTP support when available, but works
fine without it. Whenever CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK=m, those drivers are
then prevented from being built-in, the same way as with a 'depends on
PTP_1588_CLOCK || !PTP_1588_CLOCK' dependency that does the same trick,
but that can be rather confusing when you first see it.

Since this should cover the dependencies correctly, the IS_REACHABLE()
hack in the header is no longer needed now, and can be turned back
into a normal IS_ENABLED() check. Any driver that gets the dependency
wrong will now cause a link time failure rather than being unable to use
PTP support when that is in a loadable module.

However, the two recently added ptp_get_vclocks_index() and
ptp_convert_timestamp() interfaces are only called from builtin code with
ethtool and socket timestamps, so keep the current behavior by stubbing
those out completely when PTP is in a loadable module. This should be
addressed properly in a follow-up.

As Richard suggested, we may want to actually turn PTP support into a
'bool' option later on, preventing it from being a loadable module
altogether, which would be one way to solve the problem with the ethtool
interface.

44e5d08812 ravb: Remove checks for unsupported internal delay modes
The EtherAVB instances on the R-Car E3/D3 and RZ/G2E SoCs do not support
TX clock internal delay modes, and the EtherAVB driver prints a warning
if an unsupported "rgmii-*id" PHY mode is specified, to catch buggy
DTBs.

Commit a6f51f2efa ("ravb: Add support for explicit internal
clock delay configuration") deprecated deriving the internal delay mode
from the PHY mode, in favor of explicit configuration using the now
mandatory "rx-internal-delay-ps" and "tx-internal-delay-ps" properties,
thus delegating the warning to the legacy fallback code.

Since explicit configuration of a (valid) internal clock delay
configuration is enforced by validating device tree source files against
DT binding files, and all upstream DTS files have been converted as of
commit a5200e63af ("arm64: dts: renesas: rzg2: Convert EtherAVB to
explicit delay handling"), the checks in the legacy fallback code can be
removed.

a76053707d dev_ioctl: split out ndo_eth_ioctl
Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement
the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware
timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP.

Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to
implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands.

This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find
their way through the implementation.

224004fbb0 sh_eth: Avoid memcpy() over-reading of ETH_SS_STATS
In preparation for FORTIFY_SOURCE performing compile-time and run-time
field bounds checking for memcpy(), memmove(), and memset(), avoid
intentionally reading across neighboring array fields.

The memcpy() is copying the entire structure, not just the first array.
Adjust the source argument so the compiler can do appropriate bounds
checking.

5718458b09 net: renesas: ravb: Fix a stuck issue when a lot of frames are received
When a lot of frames were received in the short term, the driver
caused a stuck of receiving until a new frame was received. For example,
the following command from other device could cause this issue.

    $ sudo ping -f -l 1000 -c 1000 <this driver's ipaddress>

The previous code always cleared the interrupt flag of RX but checks
the interrupt flags in ravb_poll(). So, ravb_poll() could not call
ravb_rx() in the next time until a new RX frame was received if
ravb_rx() returned true. To fix the issue, always calls ravb_rx()
regardless the interrupt flags condition.

83216e3988 of: net: pass the dst buffer to of_get_mac_address()
of_get_mac_address() returns a "const void*" pointer to a MAC address.
Lately, support to fetch the MAC address by an NVMEM provider was added.
But this will only work with platform devices. It will not work with
PCI devices (e.g. of an integrated root complex) and esp. not with DSA
ports.

There is an of_* variant of the nvmem binding which works without
devices. The returned data of a nvmem_cell_read() has to be freed after
use. On the other hand the return of_get_mac_address() points to some
static data without a lifetime. The trick for now, was to allocate a
device resource managed buffer which is then returned. This will only
work if we have an actual device.

Change it, so that the caller of of_get_mac_address() has to supply a
buffer where the MAC address is written to. Unfortunately, this will
touch all drivers which use the of_get_mac_address().

Usually the code looks like:

This can then be simply rewritten as:

  of_get_mac_address(np, ndev->dev_addr);

Sometimes is_valid_ether_addr() is used to test the MAC address.
of_get_mac_address() already makes sure, it just returns a valid MAC
address. Thus we can just test its return code. But we have to be
careful if there are still other sources for the MAC address before the
of_get_mac_address(). In this case we have to keep the
is_valid_ether_addr() call.

The following coccinelle patch was used to convert common cases to the
new style. Afterwards, I've manually gone over the drivers and fixed the
return code variable: either used a new one or if one was already
available use that. Mansour Moufid, thanks for that coccinelle patch!

f6a2e94b3f sh_eth: Fix power down vs. is_opened flag ordering
sh_eth_close() does a synchronous power down of the device before
marking it closed.  Revert the order, to make sure the device is never
marked opened while suspended.

While at it, use pm_runtime_put() instead of pm_runtime_put_sync(), as
there is no reason to do a synchronous power down.

As of commit e2f016cf77 ("net: phy: add a shutdown procedure"),
system reboot calls phy_disable_interrupts() during shutdown.  As this
happens unconditionally, the PHY registers may be accessed while the
device is suspended, causing undefined behavior, which may crash the
system.

Fix this by wrapping the PHY bitbang accessors in the sh_eth driver by
wrappers that take care of Runtime PM, to resume the device when needed.

a6f51f2efa ravb: Add support for explicit internal clock delay configuration
Some EtherAVB variants support internal clock delay configuration, which
can add larger delays than the delays that are typically supported by
the PHY (using an "rgmii-*id" PHY mode, and/or "[rt]xc-skew-ps"
properties).

Historically, the EtherAVB driver configured these delays based on the
"rgmii-*id" PHY mode.  This caused issues with PHY drivers that
implement PHY internal delays properly[1].  Hence a backwards-compatible
workaround was added by masking the PHY mode[2].

Add proper support for explicit configuration of the MAC internal clock
delays using the new "[rt]x-internal-delay-ps" properties.
Fall back to the old handling if none of these properties is present.

2602ddfe19 drivers/net/ethernet: handle one warning explicitly
While fixing the W=1 builds, this warning came up because the
developers used a very tricky way to get structures initialized
to a non-zero value, but this causes GCC to warn about an
override. In this case the override was intentional, so just
disable the warning for this code with a kernel macro that results
in disabling the warning for compiles on GCC versions after 8.

It is not appropriate to change the struct to initialize all the
values as it will just add a lot more code for no value. The code
is completely correct as is, we just want to acknowledge that
this code could generate a warning and we're ok with that.

NOTE: the __diag_ignore macro currently only accepts a second
argument of 8 (version 80000), it's either use this one or
open code the pragma.

This reverts commit 1838d6c62f.

This commit moved the ravb_mdio_init() call (and thus the
of_mdiobus_register() call) from the ravb_probe() to the ravb_open()
call.  This causes a regression during system resume (s2idle/s2ram), as
new PHY devices cannot be bound while suspended.

During boot, the Micrel PHY is detected like this:

1838d6c62f ravb: Fixed to be able to unload modules
When this driver is built as a module, I cannot rmmod it after insmoding
it.
This is because that this driver calls ravb_mdio_init() at the time of
probe, and module->refcnt is incremented by alloc_mdio_bitbang() called
after that.
Therefore, even if ifup is not performed, the driver is in use and rmmod
cannot be performed.

$ lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by
ravb                   40960  1
$ rmmod ravb
rmmod: ERROR: Module ravb is in use

Call ravb_mdio_init() at open and free_mdio_bitbang() at close, thereby
rmmod is possible in the ifdown state.

015c5d5e6a net: ethernet: ravb: exit if re-initialization fails in tx timeout
According to the report of [1], this driver is possible to cause
the following error in ravb_tx_timeout_work().

ravb e6800000.ethernet ethernet: failed to switch device to config mode

This error means that the hardware could not change the state
from "Operation" to "Configuration" while some tx and/or rx queue
are operating. After that, ravb_config() in ravb_dmac_init() will fail,
and then any descriptors will be not allocaled anymore so that NULL
pointer dereference happens after that on ravb_start_xmit().

To fix the issue, the ravb_tx_timeout_work() should check
the return values of ravb_stop_dma() and ravb_dmac_init().
If ravb_stop_dma() fails, ravb_tx_timeout_work() re-enables TX and RX
and just exits. If ravb_dmac_init() fails, just exits.

9b23203c32 ravb: Mask PHY mode to avoid inserting delays twice
Until recently, the Micrel KSZ9031 PHY driver ignored any PHY mode
("RGMII-*ID") settings, but used the hardware defaults, augmented by
explicit configuration of individual skew values using the "*-skew-ps"
DT properties.  The lack of PHY mode support was compensated by the
EtherAVB MAC driver, which configures TX and/or RX internal delay
itself, based on the PHY mode.

However, now the KSZ9031 driver has gained PHY mode support, delays may
be configured twice, causing regressions.  E.g. on the Renesas
Salvator-X board with R-Car M3-W ES1.0, TX performance dropped from ca.
400 Mbps to 0.1-0.3 Mbps, as measured by nuttcp.

As internal delay configuration supported by the KSZ9031 PHY is too
limited for some use cases, the ability to configure MAC internal delay
is deemed useful and necessary.  Hence a proper fix would involve
splitting internal delay configuration in two parts, one for the PHY,
and one for the MAC.  However, this would require adding new DT
properties, thus breaking DTB backwards-compatibility.

Hence fix the regression in a backwards-compatibility way, by letting
the EtherAVB driver mask the PHY mode when it has inserted a delay, to
avoid the PHY driver adding a second delay.  This also fixes messages
like:

    Micrel KSZ9031 Gigabit PHY e6800000.ethernet-ffffffff:00: *-skew-ps values should be used only with phy-mode = "rgmii"

as the PHY no longer sees the original RGMII-*ID mode.

Solving the issue by splitting configuration in two parts can be handled
in future patches, and would require retaining a backwards-compatibility
mode anyway.

b39b709216 sh_eth: use Gigabit register map for R7S72100
The register maps for the Gigabit controllers and the Ether one used on
RZ/A1  (AKA R7S72100) are identical except for GECMR which is only present
on the true GEther controllers.  We no longer use the register map arrays
to determine if a given register exists,  and have added the GECMR flag to
the 'struct sh_eth_cpu_data' in the previous patch, so we're ready to drop
the R7S72100 specific register map -- this saves 216 bytes of object code
(ARM gcc 4.8.5).

a6318d57f6 sh_eth: add sh_eth_cpu_data::gecmr flag
Not all Ether controllers having the Gigabit register layout have GECMR --
RZ/A1 (AKA R7S72100) actually has the same layout but no Gigabit speed
support and hence no GECMR. In the past, the new register map table was
added for this SoC, now I think we should have used the existing Gigabit
table with the differences (such as GECMR) covered by the mere flags in
the 'struct sh_eth_cpu_data'. Add such flag for GECMR -- and then we can
get rid of the R7S72100 specific layout in the next patch...

6138e687c7 ptp: Introduce strict checking of external time stamp options.
User space may request time stamps on rising edges, falling edges, or
both.  However, the particular mode may or may not be supported in the

592025a03b renesas: reject unsupported external timestamp flags
Fix the renesas PTP support to explicitly reject any future flags that
get added to the external timestamp request ioctl.

In order to maintain currently functioning code, this patch accepts all
three current flags. This is because the PTP_RISING_EDGE and
PTP_FALLING_EDGE flags have unclear semantics and each driver seems to
have interpreted them slightly differently.

7f9048f1df net: reject PTP periodic output requests with unsupported flags
Commit 823eb2a3c4 ("PTP: add support for one-shot output") introduced
a new flag for the PTP periodic output request ioctl. This flag is not
currently supported by any driver.

Fix all drivers which implement the periodic output request ioctl to
explicitly reject any request with flags they do not understand. This
ensures that the driver does not accidentally misinterpret the
PTP_PEROUT_ONE_SHOT flag, or any new flag introduced in the future.

This is important for forward compatibility: if a new flag is
introduced, the driver should reject requests to enable the flag until
the driver has actually been modified to support the flag in question.

0c65b2b90d net: of_get_phy_mode: Change API to solve int/unit warnings
Before this change of_get_phy_mode() returned an enum,
phy_interface_t. On error, -ENODEV etc, is returned. If the result of
the function is stored in a variable of type phy_interface_t, and the
compiler has decided to represent this as an unsigned int, comparision
with -ENODEV etc, is a signed vs unsigned comparision.

Fix this problem by changing the API. Make the function return an
error, or 0 on success, and pass a pointer, of type phy_interface_t,
where the phy mode should be stored.

When a Tx timestamp is requested, a pointer to the skb is stored in the
ravb_tstamp_skb struct. This was done without an skb_get. There exists
the possibility that the skb could be freed by ravb_tx_free (when
ravb_tx_free is called from ravb_start_xmit) before the timestamp was
processed, leading to a use-after-free bug.

Use skb_get when filling a ravb_tstamp_skb struct, and add appropriate
frees/consumes when a ravb_tstamp_skb struct is freed.

315ca92dd8 net: sh_eth: fix mdio access in sh_eth_close() for R-Car Gen2 and RZ/A1 SoCs
The sh_eth_close() resets the MAC and then calls phy_stop()
so that mdio read access result is incorrect without any error
according to kernel trace like below:

According to the hardware manual, the RMII mode should be set to 1
before operation the Ethernet MAC. However, the previous code was not
set to 1 after the driver issued the soft_reset in sh_eth_dev_exit()
so that the mdio read access result seemed incorrect. To fix the issue,
this patch adds a condition and set the RMII mode register in
sh_eth_dev_exit() for R-Car Gen2 and RZ/A1 SoCs.

Note that when I have tried to move the sh_eth_dev_exit() calling
after phy_stop() on sh_eth_close(), but it gets worse (kernel panic
happened and it seems that a register is accessed while the clock is
off).

I've replaced the offending memcpy with ether_addr_copy, because I'm
100% sure, that of_get_mac_address can't return NULL as it returns valid
pointer or ERR_PTR encoded value, nothing else.

I'm hesitant to just change IS_ERR into IS_ERR_OR_NULL check, as this
would make the warning disappear also, but it would be confusing to
check for impossible return value just to make a compiler happy.

I'm now changing all occurencies of memcpy to ether_addr_copy after the
of_get_mac_address call, as it's very likely, that we're going to get
similar reports from kbuild test robot in the future.

a51645f70f net: ethernet: support of_get_mac_address new ERR_PTR error
There was NVMEM support added to of_get_mac_address, so it could now
return ERR_PTR encoded error values, so we need to adjust all current
users of of_get_mac_address to this new fact.

While at it, remove superfluous is_valid_ether_addr as the MAC address
returned from of_get_mac_address is always valid and checked by
is_valid_ether_addr anyway.

0a5d329ffd ravb: Avoid unsupported internal delay mode for R-Car E3/D3
According to the R-Car Gen3 Hardware Manual Rev 1.50 of Nov 30, 2018, the
TX clock internal delay mode isn't supported on R-Car E3 (r8a77990) or D3
(r8a77995). And by extension it is also not supported by RZ/G2E (r9a774c0).

This matches all ES versions of the affected SoCs as it is
not clear if this problem will be resolved in newer chips.
This can be revisited, as necessary.

This patch does not error-out if PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_RGMII_ID or
PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_RGMII_TXID are used on SoCs where TX clock delay
mode is not supported as there is a risk of introducing a regression
when used in conjunction with older DT blobs present in the field.
Rather, a warning is logged in such cases.

fb24ea52f7 drivers: Remove explicit invocations of mmiowb()
mmiowb() is now implied by spin_unlock() on architectures that require
it, so there is no reason to call it from driver code. This patch was
generated using coccinelle:

relying on mmiowb() to order MMIO writes between CPUs using lock-free
synchronisation. If you've ended up bisecting to this commit, you can
reintroduce the mmiowb() calls using wmb() instead, which should restore
the old behaviour on all architectures other than some esoteric ia64
systems.

a350eccee5 net: remove 'fallback' argument from dev->ndo_select_queue()
After the previous patch, all the callers of ndo_select_queue()
provide as a 'fallback' argument netdev_pick_tx.
The only exceptions are nested calls to ndo_select_queue(),
which pass down the 'fallback' available in the current scope
- still netdev_pick_tx.

We can drop such argument and replace fallback() invocation with
netdev_pick_tx(). This avoids an indirect call per xmit packet
in some scenarios (TCP syn, UDP unconnected, XDP generic, pktgen)
with device drivers implementing such ndo. It also clean the code
a bit.

Tested with ixgbe and CONFIG_FCOE=m

With pktgen using queue xmit:

ae9819e339 ravb: Decrease TxFIFO depth of Q3 and Q2 to one
Hardware has the CBS (Credit Based Shaper) which affects only Q3
and Q2. When updating the CBS settings, even if the driver does so
after waiting for Tx DMA finished, there is a possibility that frame
data still remains in TxFIFO.

To avoid this, decrease TxFIFO depth of Q3 and Q2 to one.

This patch has been exercised this using netperf TCP_MAERTS, TCP_STREAM
and UDP_STREAM tests run on an Ebisu board. No performance change was
detected, outside of noise in the tests, both in terms of throughput and
CPU utilisation.

Add support for the RX checksum offload. This is enabled by default and
may be disabled and re-enabled using 'ethtool':

Some Ether MACs provide a simple checksumming scheme which appears to be
completely compatible with CHECKSUM_COMPLETE: sum of all packet data after
the L2 header is appended to packet data; this may be trivially read by
the driver and used to update the skb accordingly. The same checksumming
scheme is implemented in the EtherAVB MACs and now supported by the 'ravb'
driver.

In terms of performance, throughput is close to gigabit line rate with the
RX checksum offload both enabled and disabled.  The 'perf' output, however,
appears to indicate that significantly less time is spent in do_csum() --
this is as expected.

2c2ab5af7d sh_eth: rename sh_eth_cpu_data::hw_checksum
Commit 62e04b7e0e ("sh_eth: rename 'sh_eth_cpu_data::hw_crc'") renamed
the field to 'hw_checksum' for the Ether DMAC "intelligent checksum",
however some Ether MACs implement a simpler checksumming scheme, so that
name now seems misleading. Rename that field to 'csmr' as the "intelligent
checksum" is always controlled by the CSMR register.

12da64300f ravb: expand rx descriptor data to accommodate hw checksum
EtherAVB may provide a checksum of packet data appended to packet data. In
order to allow this checksum to be received by the host descriptor data
needs to be enlarged by 2 bytes to accommodate the checksum.

In the case of MTU-sized packets without a VLAN tag the
checksum were already accommodated by virtue of the space reserved for the
VLAN tag. However, a packet of MTU-size with a  VLAN tag consumed all
packet data space provided by a descriptor leaving no space for the
trailing checksum.

This was not detected by the driver which incorrectly used the last two
bytes of packet data as the checksum and truncate the packet by two bytes.
This resulted all such packets being dropped.

A work around is to disable RX checksum offload
 # ethtool -K eth0 rx off

This patch resolves this problem by increasing the size available for
packet data in RX descriptors by two bytes.

Tested on R-Car E3 (r8a77990) ES1.0 based Ebisu-4D board

  #define for the size of the checksum provided by the hw (2 bytes).

65c5877f64 ravb: Disable Pause Advertisement
The previous commit to ravb had the side effect of making the PHY
advertise Pause and Asym Pause, which previously did not happen.  By
default, phydev->supported has both forms of pause enabled, but
phydev->advertising does not. The new phy_remove_link_mode() copies
phydev->supported to phydev->advertising after removing the requested
link mode. These Pause configuration bits appears it stops the PHY
from completing Auto-Neg and the link remains down.  Be explicit and
remove the Pause and Asym Pause modes, so restoring the old behavior.

2fe397a395 ravb: do not write 1 to reserved bits
EtherAVB hardware requires 0 to be written to status register bits in
order to clear them, however, care must be taken not to:

1. Clear other bits, by writing zero to them
2. Write one to reserved bits

This patch corrects the ravb driver with respect to the second point above.
This is done by defining reserved bit masks for the affected registers and,
after auditing the code, ensure all sites that may write a one to a
reserved bit use are suitably masked.

to serialize changes to phy state, however that helper function is
called in atomic context under a grabbed spinlock, because
phy_start_aneg() is called by phy_ethtool_ksettings_set() and by
replaced phy_ethtool_sset() helpers from phylib.

Now duplex mode setting is enforced in ravb_adjust_link() only, also
now RX/TX is disabled when link is put down or modifications to E-MAC
registers ECMR and GECMR are expected for both cases of checked and
ignored link status pin state from E-MAC interrupt handler.

53a710b504 sh_eth: fix invalid context bug while calling auto-negotiation by ethtool
Since commit 35b5f6b1a8 ("PHYLIB: Locking fixes for PHY I/O
potentially sleeping") phy_start_aneg() function utilizes a mutex
to serialize changes to phy state, however the helper function is
called in atomic context.

The bug can be reproduced by running "ethtool -r" command, the bug
is reported if CONFIG_DEBUG_ATOMIC_SLEEP build option is enabled.

782e85c5f7 sh_eth: fix *enum* {A|M}PR_BIT
The *enum* {A|M}PR_BIT were declared in the commit 86a74ff21a ("net:
sh_eth: add support for  Renesas SuperH Ethernet") adding SH771x support,
however the SH771x manual  doesn't have the APR/MPR registers described
and the code writing to them for SH7710 was later removed by the commit
380af9e390 ("net: sh_eth: CPU dependency code collect to "struct
sh_eth_cpu_data""). All the newer SoC manuals have these registers
documented as having a 16-bit TIME parameter of the PAUSE frame, not
1-bit -- update the *enum* accordingly, fixing up the APR/MPR writes...

e020797b7d net: Remove depends on HAS_DMA in case of platform dependency
Remove dependencies on HAS_DMA where a Kconfig symbol depends on another
symbol that implies HAS_DMA, and, optionally, on "|| COMPILE_TEST".
In most cases this other symbol is an architecture or platform specific
symbol, or PCI.

Generic symbols and drivers without platform dependencies keep their
dependencies on HAS_DMA, to prevent compiling subsystems or drivers that
cannot work anyway.

This simplifies the dependencies, and allows to improve compile-testing.

232b6743e4 sh_eth: make sh_eth_soft_swap() work on ARM
Browsing  thru the driver disassembly, I noticed that ARM gcc generated
no  code  whatsoever for sh_eth_soft_swap() while building a little-endian
kernel -- apparently __LITTLE_ENDIAN__ was not being #define'd, however
it got implicitly #define'd when building with the SH gcc (I could only
find the explicit #define __LITTLE_ENDIAN that was #include'd when building
a little-endian kernel).  Luckily, the Ether controller  only doing big-
endian DMA is encountered on the early SH771x SoCs only and all ARM SoCs
implement EDMR.DE and thus set 'sh_eth_cpu_data::hw_swap'. But anyway, we
need to fix the #ifdef inside sh_eth_soft_swap() to something that would
work on all architectures...

TLS data structures split the TX and RX components in 'net-next',
put the new struct members from the bug fix in 'net' into the RX
part.

The 'net-next' tree had some reworking of how the ERSPAN code works in
the GRE tunneling code, overlapping with a one-line headroom
calculation fix in 'net'.

Overlapping changes in __sock_map_ctx_update_elem(), keep the bits
that read the prog members via READ_ONCE() into local variables
before using them.

b16a960ddb sh_eth: Change platform check to CONFIG_ARCH_RENESAS
Since commit 9b5ba0df4e ("ARM: shmobile: Introduce ARCH_RENESAS")
is CONFIG_ARCH_RENESAS a more appropriate platform check than the legacy
CONFIG_ARCH_SHMOBILE, hence use the former.

Renesas SuperH SH-Mobile SoCs are still covered by the CONFIG_CPU_SH4
check.

This will allow to drop ARCH_SHMOBILE on ARM and ARM64 in the near
future.

ring underrun") added a check for an bad RDFAR offset in sh_eth_rx(), so
that the code could work on the R-Car Ether controllers which don't have
this register (and TDFAR), then the commit 3365711df0 ("sh_eth: WARN on
access to a register not implemented in a particular chip") replaced
offset 0 with 0xffff. Adding/checking the 'no_xdfar' bit field in the
'struct sh_eth_cpu_data' instead results in less object code...

4ceedeb1b6 sh_eth: add sh_eth_cpu_data::soft_reset() method
sh_eth_reset() performs a software reset which is implemented in a
completely different way for the GEther-like controllers vs the other
controllers due to a different layout of EDMR (and other factors) --
it therefore makes sense to convert this function to a mandatory
sh_eth_cpu_data::soft_reset() method and thus get rid of the runtime
controller type check via sh_eth_is_{gether|rz_fast_ether}().

a94cf2a614 sh_eth: fix TSU init on SH7734/R8A7740
It appears that the single port Ether controllers having TSU (like SH7734/
R8A7740) need the same kind of treating in sh_eth_tsu_init() as R7S72100
currently has -- they also don't have the TSU registers related e.g. to
passing the frames between ports. Add the 'sh_eth_cpu_data::dual_port'
flag and use it as a new criterion for taking a "short path" in the TSU
init sequence in order to avoid writing to the non-existent registers...

4869a1476d sh_eth: TSU_QTAG0/1 registers the same as TSU_QTAGM0/1
The TSU_QTAG0/1 registers found in the Gigabit Ether controllers actually
have the same long name  as the TSU_QTAGM0/1 registers in the early Ether
controllers:  Qtag Addition/Deletion Set Register (Port 0/1 to 1/0); thus
there's no need to make a difference in sh_eth_tsu_init() between those
controllers. Unfortunately, we can't just remove TSU_QTAG0/1 from the
register *enum* because that would break the ethtool register dump...

The dual-port Ether configurations always have a shared TSU to e.g. pass
the packets between those  ports.  With the  TSU init. code gathered under
the single *if*, we now can only get the port # from 'platform_device::id'
only when we actually  need it  (and not recalculate it each time)...

this register is always located at the start of the  TSU register region.

17d0fb0caa sh_eth: fix dumping ARSTR
ARSTR  is always located at the start of the TSU register region, thus
using add_reg()  instead of add_tsu_reg() in __sh_eth_get_regs() to dump it
causes EDMR or EDSR (depending on the register layout) to be dumped instead
of ARSTR.  Use the correct condition/macro there...

5133550296 sh_eth: fix SH7757 GEther initialization
Renesas  SH7757 has 2 Fast and 2 Gigabit Ether controllers, while the
'sh_eth' driver can only reset and initialize TSU of the first controller
pair. Shimoda-san tried to solve that adding the 'needs_init' member to the
'struct sh_eth_plat_data', however the platform code still never sets this
flag. I think  that we can infer this information from the 'devno' variable
(set  to 'platform_device::id') and reset/init the Ether controller pair
only for an even 'devno'; therefore 'sh_eth_plat_data::needs_init' can be
removed...

dfe8266b8d sh_eth: fix TSU resource handling
When switching  the driver to the managed device API,  I managed to break
the  case of a  dual Ether devices sharing a single TSU: the 2nd Ether port
wouldn't probe. Iwamatsu-san has tried to fix this but his patch was buggy
and he then dropped the ball...

The solution is to  limit calling devm_request_mem_region() to the first
of  the two  ports  sharing the same TSU, so devm_ioremap_resource() can't
be used anymore for the TSU resource...

2aab6b40b0 net: sh_eth: do not advertise Gigabit capabilities when not available
Not all variants of the sh_eth hardware have Gigabit
support. Unfortunately, the current driver doesn't tell the PHY about
the limited MAC capabilities. Due to this, if you have a Gigabit
capable PHY, the PHY will advertise its Gigabit capability and
establish a link at 1Gbit/s, even though the MAC doesn't support it.

In order to avoid this, we use the recently introduced
phy_set_max_speed() to tell the PHY to not advertise speed higher than
100 MBit/s.

Tested on a SH7786 platform, with a Gigabit PHY.

22c1aed409 net: sh_eth: use correct "struct device" when calling DMA mapping functions
There are two types of "struct device": the one representing the
physical device on its physical bus (platform, SPI, PCI, etc.), and
the one representing the logical device in its device class (net,
etc.).

The DMA mapping API expects to receive as argument a "struct device"
representing the physical device, as the "struct device" contains
information about the bus that the DMA API needs.

However, the sh_eth driver mistakenly uses the "struct device"
representing the logical device (embedded in "struct net_device")
rather than the "struct device" representing the physical device on
its bus.

This commit fixes that by adjusting all calls to the DMA mapping API.

b4804e0c71 net: sh_eth: implement R-Car Gen[12] fallback compatibility strings
Implement fallback compatibility strings for R-Car Gen 1 and 2.

In the case of Renesas R-Car hardware we know that there are generations of
SoCs, f.e. Gen 1 and 2. But beyond that its not clear what the relationship
between IP blocks might be. For example, I believe that r8a7790 is older
than r8a7791 but that doesn't imply that the latter is a descendant of the
former or vice versa.

We can, however, by examining the documentation and behaviour of the
hardware at run-time observe that the current driver implementation appears
to be compatible with the IP blocks on SoCs within a given generation.

For the above reasons and convenience when enabling new SoCs a
per-generation fallback compatibility string scheme is being adopted for
drivers for Renesas SoCs.

Note that R-Car Gen2 and RZ/G1 have many compatible IP blocks.  The
approach that has been consistently taken for other IP blocks is to name
common code, compatibility strings and so on after R-Car Gen2.

6c4b2f7e67 net: sh_eth: rename name structures as rcar_gen[12]_*
Rename structures describing R-Car SoCs as rcar_gen[12]_*
rather than r8a77[79]x_*. This seems a little easier on the
eyes. And will make things slightly cleaner in a follow-up
patch that adds fallback-compatibility strings for these SoCs.

Note that R-Car Gen2 and RZ/G1 have many compatible IP blocks.  The
approach that has been consistently taken for other IP blocks is to name
common code, compatibility strings and so on after R-Car Gen2.

Also rename sh_eth_set_rate_r8a777x as sh_eth_set_rate_rcar as
it it is used by the R-Car generations supported by the driver.

This patch should have no run-time effect and
is compile-tested only.

ab104615e0 ravb: Consolidate clock handling
The module clock is used for two purposes:
  - Wake-on-LAN (WoL), which is optional,
  - gPTP Timer Increment (GTI) configuration, which is mandatory.

As the clock is needed for GTI configuration anyway, WoL is always
available.  Hence remove duplication and repeated obtaining of the clock
by making GTI use the stored clock for WoL use.

4d86d38186 ravb: RX checksum offload
Add support for RX checksum offload. This is enabled by default and
may be disabled and re-enabled using ethtool:

 # ethtool -K eth0 rx off
 # ethtool -K eth0 rx on

The RAVB provides a simple checksumming scheme which appears to be
completely compatible with CHECKSUM_COMPLETE: sum of all packet data after
the L2 header is appended to packet data; this may be trivially read by the
driver and used to update the skb accordingly.

In terms of performance throughput is close to gigabit line-rate both with
and without RX checksum offload enabled. Perf output, however, appears to
indicate that significantly less time is spent in do_csum(). This is as
expected.

fbf3d034f2 ravb: add workaround for clock when resuming with WoL enabled
The renesas-cpg-mssr clock driver are not yet aware of PSCI sleep where
power is cut to the SoC. When resuming from this state with WoL enabled
the enable count of the ravb clock is 1 and the clock driver thinks the
clock is already on when PM core enables the clock and increments the
enable count to 2. This will result in the ravb driver failing to talk
to the hardware since the module clock is off. Work around this by
forcing the enable count to 0 and then back to 2 when resuming with WoL
enabled.

This workaround should be reverted once the renesas-cpg-mssr clock
driver becomes aware of this PSCI sleep behavior.

3e3d647715 ravb: add wake-on-lan support via magic packet
WoL is enabled in the suspend callback by setting MagicPacket detection
and disabling all interrupts expect MagicPacket. In the resume path the
driver needs to reset the hardware to rearm the WoL logic, this prevents
the driver from simply restoring the registers and to take advantage of
that ravb was not suspended to reduce resume time. To reset the
hardware the driver closes the device, sets it in reset mode and reopens
the device just like it would do in a normal suspend/resume scenario
without WoL enabled, but it both closes and opens the device in the
resume callback since the device needs to be reset for WoL to work.

One quirk needed for WoL is that the module clock needs to be prevented
from being switched off by Runtime PM. To keep the clock alive the
suspend callback need to call clk_enable() directly to increase the
usage count of the clock. Then when Runtime PM decreases the clock usage
count it won't reach 0 and be switched off.

79514ef670 ravb: Fix use-after-free on ifconfig eth0 down
Commit a47b70ea86 ("ravb: unmap descriptors when freeing rings") has
introduced the issue seen in [1] reproduced on H3ULCB board.

Fix this by relocating the RX skb ringbuffer free operation, so that
swiotlb page unmapping can be done first. Freeing of aligned TX buffers
is not relevant to the issue seen in [1]. Still, reposition TX free
calls as well, to have all kfree() operations performed consistently
_after_ dma_unmap_*()/dma_free_*().

b7ce520e9f sh_eth: Do not print an error message for probe deferral
EPROBE_DEFER is not an error, hence printing an error message like

    sh-eth ee700000.ethernet: failed to initialise MDIO

may confuse the user.

To fix this, suppress the error message in case of probe deferral.
While at it, shorten the message, and add the actual error code.

5f5c5449ac sh_eth: Use platform device for printing before register_netdev()
The MDIO initialization failure message is printed using the network
device, before it has been registered, leading to:

     (null): failed to initialise MDIO

Use the platform device instead to fix this:

    sh-eth ee700000.ethernet: failed to initialise MDIO

1debdc8f9e sh_eth: unmap DMA buffers when freeing rings
The DMA API debugging (when enabled) causes:

WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 1445 at lib/dma-debug.c:519 add_dma_entry+0xe0/0x12c
DMA-API: exceeded 7 overlapping mappings of cacheline 0x01b2974d

to be  printed after repeated initialization of the Ether device, e.g.
suspend/resume or 'ifconfig' up/down. This is because DMA buffers mapped
using dma_map_single() in sh_eth_ring_format() and sh_eth_start_xmit() are
never unmapped. Resolve this problem by unmapping the buffers when freeing
the descriptor  rings;  in order  to do it right, we'd have to add an extra
parameter to sh_eth_txfree() (we rename this function to sh_eth_tx_free(),
while at it).

rings").

0cf45a3b1e sh_eth: fix wakeup event reporting from MagicPacket
If a link change interrupt happens along side the MagicPacket interrupt
and the link change interrupt is ignored the interrupt handler will
return and the wakeup event is not registered. Fix this by moving the
MagicPacket check before the link change check.

5e2ed1329e sh_eth: align usage of sh_eth_modify() with rest of driver

1a0bee6c1e sh_eth: rename EESIPR bits
Since the  commit  b0ca2a21f7 ("sh_eth: Add support of SH7763 to sh_eth")
the *enum* declaring the EESIPR bits (interrupt mask) went out of sync with
the *enum* declaring the EESR bits (interrupt status) WRT  bit naming  and
formatting. I'd like to restore the consistency by using EESIPR as the bit
name prefix, renaming the *enum* to EESIPR_BIT, and (finally) renaming the
bits according to the available  Renesas SH77{34|63} manuals; additionally,
reconstruct  couple names using  the EESR bit declaration above...

0e98f9d5f0 ravb: Support 1Gbps on R-Car H3 ES1.1+ and R-Car M3-W
The limitation to 10/100Mbit speeds on R-Car Gen3 is valid for R-Car H3
ES1.0 only. Check for the exact SoC model to allow 1Gbps on newer
revisions of R-Car H3, and on R-Car M3-W.
