50459f103e media: uvcvideo: Remove format descriptions
The V4L2 core overwrites format descriptions in v4l_fill_fmtdesc(),
there's no need to manually set the descriptions in the driver. This
prepares for removal of the format descriptions from the uvc_fmts table.

Unlike V4L2, UVC makes a distinction between the SD-DV, SDL-DV and HD-DV
formats. It also indicates whether the DV format uses 50Hz or 60Hz. This
information is parsed by the driver to construct a format name string
that is printed in a debug message, but serves no other purpose as V4L2
has a single V4L2_PIX_FMT_DV pixel format that covers all those cases.

As the information is available in the UVC descriptors, and thus
accessible to users with lsusb if they really care, don't log it in a
debug message and drop the format name string to simplify the code.

d3dcbe24a0 USB/Thunderbolt changes for 6.1-rc1
Here is the big set of USB and Thunderbolt driver changes for 6.1-rc1.

 Nothing major in here, lots of little things with new devices supported
 and updates for a few drivers. Highlights include:
 	- thunderbolt/USB4 devices supported a bit better than before,
 	  and some new ids to enable new hardware devices
 	- USB gadget uvc updates for newer video formats and better v4l
 	  integration (the v4l portions were acked by those maintainers)
 	- typec updates for tiny issues and more typec drivers for new
 	  chips.
 	- xhci tiny updates for minor issues
 	- big usb-serial ftdi_sio driver update to handle new devices
 	  better
 	- lots of tiny dwc3 fixes and updates for the IP block that is
 	  showing up everywhere these days
 	- dts updates for new devices being supported
 	- other tiny janitorial and cleanups fixes for lots of different
 	  USB drivers. Full details are in the shortlog.

This patch aims to add UVC_GUID_FORMAT_H265

So for handling their behavior is the same.
However, when external camera device describes this encoding method,

There is no uniform specification to describe this encoding method.
So if an external camera device use h265 to describe this encoding method,

261f33388c media: uvcvideo: Fix missing check to determine if element is found in list
The list iterator will point to a bogus position containing HEAD if
the list is empty or the element is not found in list. This case
should be checked before any use of the iterator, otherwise it will
lead to a invalid memory access. The missing check here is before
"pin = iterm->id;", just add check here to fix the security bug.

In addition, the list iterator value will *always* be set and non-NULL
by list_for_each_entry(), so it is incorrect to assume that the iterator
value will be NULL if the element is not found in list, considering
the (mis)use here: "if (iterm == NULL".

Use a new value 'it' as the list iterator, while use the old value
'iterm' as a dedicated pointer to point to the found element, which
1. can fix this bug, due to 'iterm' is NULL only if it's not found.
2. do not need to change all the uses of 'iterm' after the loop.
3. can also limit the scope of the list iterator 'it' *only inside*
   the traversal loop by simply declaring 'it' inside the loop in the
   future, as usage of the iterator outside of the list_for_each_entry
   is considered harmful. https://lkml.org/lkml/2022/2/17/1032

9958d30f38 media: Kconfig: cleanup VIDEO_DEV dependencies
media Kconfig has two entries associated to V4L API:
VIDEO_DEV and VIDEO_V4L2.

On Kernel 2.6.x, there were two V4L APIs, each one with its own flag.
VIDEO_DEV were meant to:
	1) enable Video4Linux and make its Kconfig options to appear;
	2) it makes the Kernel build the V4L core.

while VIDEO_V4L2 where used to distinguish between drivers that
implement the newer API and drivers that implemented the former one.

With time, such meaning changed, specially after the removal of
all V4L version 1 drivers.

At the current implementation, VIDEO_DEV only does (1): it enables
the media options related to V4L, that now has:

	menu "Video4Linux options"
		visible if VIDEO_DEV

	source "drivers/media/v4l2-core/Kconfig"
	endmenu

but it doesn't affect anymore the V4L core drivers.

The rationale is that the V4L2 core has a "soft" dependency
at the I2C bus, and now requires to select a number of other
Kconfig options:

	config VIDEO_V4L2
		tristate
		depends on (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV
		select RATIONAL
		select VIDEOBUF2_V4L2 if VIDEOBUF2_CORE
		default (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV

In the past, merging them would be tricky, but it seems that it is now
possible to merge those symbols, in order to simplify V4L dependencies.

Let's keep VIDEO_DEV, as this one is used on some make *defconfig
configurations.

		Size: Discrete 3840x2160
			Interval: Discrete 0.033s (29.970 fps)

Changing the pixel format to anything besides the first pixel format
does not work:

```
$ v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --try-fmt-video pixelformat=YU12
Format Video Capture:
	Width/Height      : 3840/2160
```

User space applications like VLC might show an error message on the
terminal in that case:

```
libv4l2: error set_fmt gave us a different result than try_fmt!
```

Depending on the error handling of the user space applications, they
might display a distorted video, because they use the wrong pixel format
for decoding the stream.

The Elgato Cam Link 4K responds to the USB video probe
VS_PROBE_CONTROL/VS_COMMIT_CONTROL with a malformed data structure: The
second byte contains bFormatIndex (instead of being the second byte of
bmHint). The first byte is always zero. The third byte is always 1.

The firmware bug was reported to Elgato on 2020-12-01 and it was
forwarded by the support team to the developers as feature request.
There is no firmware update available since then. The latest firmware
for Elgato Cam Link 4K as of 2021-03-23 has MCU 20.02.19 and FPGA 67.

Therefore correct the malformed data structure for this device. The
change was successfully tested with VLC, OBS, and Chromium using
different pixel formats (YUYV, NV12, YU12), resolutions (3840x2160,
1920x1080), and frame rates (29.970 and 59.940 fps).

4ca052b4ea media: uvcvideo: Support devices that report an OT as an entity source
Some devices reference an output terminal as the source of extension
units. This is incorrect, as output terminals only have an input pin,
and thus can't be connected to any entity in the forward direction. The
resulting topology would cause issues when registering the media
controller graph. To avoid this problem, connect the extension unit to
the source of the output terminal instead.

While at it, and while no device has been reported to be affected by
this issue, also handle forward scans where two output terminals would
be connected together, and skip the terminals found through such an
invalid connection.

20e1dbf2bb media: uvcvideo: Use dma_alloc_noncontiguous API
On architectures where there is no coherent caching such as ARM use the
dma_alloc_noncontiguous API and handle manually the cache flushing using
dma_sync_sgtable().

If the architechture has coherent cache, the API falls back to
alloc_dma_pages, so we can remove the coherent caching code-path from the
driver, making it simpler.

With this patch on the affected architectures we can measure up to 20x
performance improvement in uvc_video_copy_data_work().

2886477ff9 media: uvcvideo: Implement UVC_EXT_GPIO_UNIT
Some devices can implement a physical switch to disable the input of the
camera on demand. Think of it like an elegant privacy sticker.

The system can read the status of the privacy switch via a GPIO.

It is important to know the status of the switch, e.g. to notify the
user when the camera will produce black frames and a videochat
application is used.

In some systems, the GPIO is connected to the main SoC instead of the
camera controller, with the connection reported by the system firmware
(ACPI or DT). In that case, the UVC device isn't aware of the GPIO. We
need to implement a virtual entity to handle the GPIO fully on the
driver side.

For example, for ACPI-based systems, the GPIO is reported in the USB
device object:

dc9455ffae media: uvcvideo: Accept invalid bFormatIndex and bFrameIndex values
The Renkforce RF AC4K 300 Action Cam 4K reports invalid bFormatIndex and
bFrameIndex values when negotiating the video probe and commit controls.
The UVC descriptors report a single supported format and frame size,
with bFormatIndex and bFrameIndex both equal to 2, but the video probe
and commit controls report bFormatIndex and bFrameIndex set to 1.

The device otherwise operates correctly, but the driver rejects the
values and fails the format try operation. Fix it by ignoring the
invalid indices, and assuming that the format and frame requested by the
driver are accepted by the device.

8a652a17e3 media: uvcvideo: Ensure all probed info is returned to v4l2
bFrameIndex and bFormatIndex can be negotiated by the camera during
probing, resulting in the camera choosing a different format than
expected. v4l2 can already accommodate such changes, but the code was
not updating the proper fields.

Without such a change, v4l2 would potentially interpret the payload
incorrectly, causing corrupted output. This was happening on the
Elgato HD60 S+, which currently always renegotiates to format 1.

As an aside, the Elgato firmware is buggy and should not be renegotating,
but it is still a valid thing for the camera to do. Both macOS and Windows
will properly probe and read uncorrupted images from this camera.

With this change, both qv4l2 and chromium can now read uncorrupted video
from the Elgato HD60 S+.

UBSAN reports a shift-out-of-bounds warning in uvc_get_le_value(). The
report is correct, but the issue should be harmless as the computed

incorrect behaviour if a negative shift could generate adverse side

Regardless of whether that may happen or not, silence the warning as a

93df48d37c media: uvcvideo: Fix uvc_ctrl_fixup_xu_info() not having any effect
uvc_ctrl_add_info() calls uvc_ctrl_get_flags() which will override
the fixed-up flags set by uvc_ctrl_fixup_xu_info().

uvc_ctrl_init_xu_ctrl() already calls uvc_ctrl_get_flags() before
calling uvc_ctrl_add_info(), so the uvc_ctrl_get_flags() call in
uvc_ctrl_add_info() is not necessary for xu ctrls.

This commit moves the uvc_ctrl_get_flags() call for normal controls
from uvc_ctrl_add_info() to uvc_ctrl_init_ctrl(), so that we no longer
call uvc_ctrl_get_flags() twice for xu controls and so that we no longer
override the fixed-up flags set by uvc_ctrl_fixup_xu_info().

This fixes the xu motor controls not working properly on a Logitech
046d:08cc, and presumably also on the other Logitech models which have
a quirk for this in the uvc_ctrl_fixup_xu_info() function.

Looking into the output from usbmon, the interesting part is the
following data packet:

  ffff880069c63e00 30710169 C Ci:1:002:0 0 143 = 09028f00 01030080
  00090403 00000e01 00000924 03000103 7c003328 010204db

If we drop the lead configuration and interface descriptors, we're left
with an output terminal descriptor describing a generic display:

  /* Output terminal descriptor */
  buf[0]	09
  buf[1]	24
  buf[2]	03	/* UVC_VC_OUTPUT_TERMINAL */
  buf[3]	00	/* ID */
  buf[4]	01	/* type == 0x0301 (UVC_OTT_DISPLAY) */
  buf[5]	03
  buf[6]	7c
  buf[7]	00	/* source ID refers to self! */
  buf[8]	33

The problem with this descriptor is that it is self-referential: the
source ID of 0 matches itself! This causes the 'struct uvc_entity'
representing the display to be added to its chain list twice during
'uvc_scan_chain()': once via 'uvc_scan_chain_entity()' when it is
processed directly from the 'dev->entities' list and then again
immediately afterwards when trying to follow the source ID in
'uvc_scan_chain_forward()'

Add a check before adding an entity to a chain list to ensure that the
entity is not already part of a chain.

9dd0627d8d media: uvcvideo: Avoid NULL pointer dereference at the end of streaming
The UVC video driver converts the timestamp from hardware specific unit
to one known by the kernel at the time when the buffer is dequeued. This
is fine in general, but the streamoff operation consists of the
following steps (among other things):

1. uvc_video_clock_cleanup --- the hardware clock sample array is
   released and the pointer to the array is set to NULL,

2. buffers in active state are returned to the user and

3. buf_finish callback is called on buffers that are prepared.
   buf_finish includes calling uvc_video_clock_update that accesses the
   hardware clock sample array.

The above is serialised by a queue specific mutex. Address the problem
by skipping the clock conversion if the hardware clock sample array is
already released.

47bb117911 media: uvcvideo: Fix 'type' check leading to overflow
When initially testing the Camera Terminal Descriptor wTerminalType
field (buffer[4]), no mask is used. Later in the function, the MSB is
overloaded to store the descriptor subtype, and so a mask of 0x7fff
is used to check the type.

If a descriptor is specially crafted to set this overloaded bit in the
original wTerminalType field, the initial type check will fail (falling
through, without adjusting the buffer size), but the later type checks
will pass, assuming the buffer has been made suitably large, causing an
overflow.

Avoid this problem by checking for the MSB in the wTerminalType field.
If the bit is set, assume the descriptor is bad, and abort parsing it.

10e1fdb958 media: uvcvideo: Refactor teardown of uvc on USB disconnect
Currently, disconnecting a USB webcam while it is in use prints out a
number of warnings, such as:

WARNING: CPU: 2 PID: 3118 at /build/linux-ezBi1T/linux-4.8.0/fs/sysfs/group.c:237 sysfs_remove_group+0x8b/0x90
sysfs group ffffffffa7cd0780 not found for kobject 'event13'

This has been noticed before. [0]

This is because of the order in which things are torn down.

If there are no streams active during a USB disconnect:

 - uvc_disconnect() is invoked via device_del() through the bus
   notifier mechanism.

 - this calls uvc_unregister_video().

 - uvc_unregister_video() unregisters the video device for each
   stream,

 - because there are no streams open, it calls uvc_delete()

 - uvc_delete() calls uvc_status_cleanup(), which cleans up the status
   input device.

 - uvc_delete() calls media_device_unregister(), which cleans up the
   media device

 - uvc_delete(), uvc_unregister_video() and uvc_disconnect() all
   return, and we end up back in device_del().

 - device_del() then cleans up the sysfs folder for the camera with
   dpm_sysfs_remove(). Because uvc_status_cleanup() and
   media_device_unregister() have already been called, this all works
   nicely.

If, on the other hand, there *are* streams active during a USB disconnect:

 - uvc_disconnect() is invoked

 - this calls uvc_unregister_video()

 - uvc_unregister_video() unregisters the video device for each
   stream,

 - uvc_unregister_video() and uvc_disconnect() return, and we end up
   back in device_del().

 - device_del() then cleans up the sysfs folder for the camera with
   dpm_sysfs_remove(). Because the status input device and the media
   device are children of the USB device, this also deletes their
   sysfs folders.

 - Sometime later, the final stream is closed, invoking uvc_release().

 - uvc_release() calls uvc_delete()

 - uvc_delete() calls uvc_status_cleanup(), which cleans up the status
   input device. Because the sysfs directory has already been removed,
   this causes a WARNing.

 - uvc_delete() calls media_device_unregister(), which cleans up the
   media device. Because the sysfs directory has already been removed,
   this causes another WARNing.

To fix this, we need to make sure the devices are always unregistered
before the end of uvc_disconnect(). To this, move the unregistration
into the disconnect path:

 - split uvc_status_cleanup() into two parts, one on disconnect that
   unregisters and one on delete that frees.

 - move v4l2_device_unregister() and media_device_unregister() into
   the disconnect path.

Pull new experimental media request API from Mauro Carvalho Chehab:
 "A new media request API

  This API is needed to support device drivers that can dynamically
  change their parameters for each new frame. The latest versions of
  Google camera and codec HAL depends on such feature.

  At this stage, it supports only stateless codecs.

  It has been discussed for a long time (at least over the last 3-4
  years), and we finally reached to something that seem to work.

  This series contain both the API and core changes required to support
  it and a new m2m decoder driver (cedrus).

  As the current API is still experimental, the only real driver using
  it (cedrus) was added at staging[1]. We intend to keep it there for a
  while, in order to test the API. Only when we're sure that this API
  works for other cases (like encoders), we'll move this driver out of
  staging and set the API into a stone.

  [1] We added support for the vivid virtual driver (used only for
  testing) to it too, as it makes easier to test the API for the ones
  that don't have the cedrus hardware"

The device information structure is currently copied field by field in
the uvc_device structure. As we only have two fields at the moment this
isn't much of an issue, but it prevents easy addition of new info
fields.

Fix this by storing the uvc_device_info pointer in the uvc_device
structure. As a result the uvc_device meta_format field can be removed.
The quirks field, however, needs to stay as it can be modified through a
module parameter.

As not all device have an information structure, we declare a global

6da2ec5605 treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array()
The kmalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kmalloc_array(). This
patch replaces cases of:

        kmalloc(a * b, gfp)

with:
        kmalloc_array(a * b, gfp)

as well as handling cases of:

        kmalloc(a * b * c, gfp)

with:

        kmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)

as it's slightly less ugly than:

        kmalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp)

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

        kmalloc(4 * 1024, gfp)

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

The tools/ directory was manually excluded, since it has its own
implementation of kmalloc().

The Coccinelle script used for this was:

b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
   considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

   For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier                            # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0                                              11139

   and resulted in the first patch in this series.

   If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
   Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier                            # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note                        930

   and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
   of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
   any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
   it (per prior point). Results summary:

   and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
   license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
   licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
   resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
   which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
   confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
   the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
   files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
   was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

vb2_queue structure. That field is declared const, so vb2_ops structures
that have this property can be declared as const also.

The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows:
(http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/)

// <smpl>

static struct vb2_ops i@p = { ... };

@ok@

e.ops = &i@p;

36c0f8b32c [media] vb2: replace void *alloc_ctxs by struct device *alloc_devs
Make this a proper typed array. Drop the old allocate context code since
that is no longer used.

Note that the memops functions now get a struct device pointer instead of
the struct device ** that was there initially (actually a void pointer to
a struct containing only a struct device pointer).

This code is now a lot cleaner.

a087ce704b [media] media-device: dynamically allocate struct media_devnode
struct media_devnode is currently embedded at struct media_device.

While this works fine during normal usage, it leads to a race
condition during devnode unregister. the problem is that drivers
assume that, after calling media_device_unregister(), the struct
that contains media_device can be freed. This is not true, as it
can't be freed until userspace closes all opened /dev/media devnodes.

In other words, if the media devnode is still open, and media_device
gets freed, any call to an ioctl will make the core to try to access
struct media_device, with will cause an use-after-free and even GPF.

Fix this by dynamically allocating the struct media_devnode and only
freeing it when it is safe.
