ed8d84530a This cycle, I2C removes the currently unused CLASS_DDC support
(controllers set the flag, but there is no client to use it). Also,
CLASS_SPD support gets simplified to prepare removal in the future.
Class based instantiation is not recommended these days anyhow.
Furthermore, I2C core now creates a debugfs directory per I2C adapter.
Current bus driver users were converted to use it. Then, there are also
quite some driver updates. Standing out are patches for the wmt-driver
which is refactored to support more variants. This is the rebased pull
request where a large series for the designware driver was dropped.

e965a70727 drm: remove I2C_CLASS_DDC support
After removal of the legacy EEPROM driver and I2C_CLASS_DDC support in
olpc_dcon there's no i2c client driver left supporting I2C_CLASS_DDC.
Class-based device auto-detection is a legacy mechanism and shouldn't
be used in new code. So we can remove this class completely now.

Theoretically, it would be possible for a buggy or malicious VBIOS to

c2709b2d6a gpu/drm/radeon: fix two memleaks in radeon_vm_init
When radeon_bo_create and radeon_vm_clear_bo fail, the vm->page_tables
allocated before need to be freed. However, neither radeon_vm_init
itself nor its caller have done such deallocation.

69a83fd3f0 drm/radeon: Prevent multiple debug error lines on suspend
Fix to avoid multiple debug error lines printed on every suspend by Radeon driver's debugfs.

radeon_debugfs_init() calls debugfs_create_file() for every ring.

This results in printing multiple error lines to the screen and dmesg similar to this:

[   92.378726] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_gfx' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.378732] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_cp1' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!

[   92.378737] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_dma1' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.378739] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_dma2' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.380775] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_uvd' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!

[   92.406624] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_vce2' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!

Patch v1: The fix was to run lookup() for the file before trying to (re)create that debug file.
Patch v2: Call the radeon_debugfs_init() only once when radeon ring is initialized (as suggested
by Christian K. - thanks)

Pull pci updates from Bjorn Helgaas:
 "Enumeration:

   - Use acpi_evaluate_dsm_typed() instead of open-coding _DSM
evaluation to learn device characteristics (Andy Shevchenko)

   - Tidy multi-function header checks using new PCI_HEADER_TYPE_MASK
     definition (Ilpo Järvinen)

   - Simplify config access error checking in various drivers (Ilpo
     Järvinen)

   - Use pcie_capability_clear_word() (not
     pcie_capability_clear_and_set_word()) when only clearing (Ilpo
     Järvinen)

   - Add pci_get_base_class() to simplify finding devices using base
class only (ignoring subclass and programming interface) (Sui
     Jingfeng)

   - Add pci_is_vga(), which includes ancient PCI_CLASS_NOT_DEFINED_VGA
devices from before the Class Code was added to PCI (Sui Jingfeng)

   - Use pci_is_vga() for vgaarb, sysfs "boot_vga", virtio, qxl to
include ancient VGA devices (Sui Jingfeng)

  Resource management:

   - Make pci_assign_unassigned_resources() non-init because sparc uses
     it after init (Randy Dunlap)

  Driver binding:

   - Retain .remove() and .probe() callbacks (previously __init) because
sysfs may cause them to be called later (Uwe Kleine-König)

   - Prevent xHCI driver from claiming AMD VanGogh USB3 DRD device, so
it can be claimed by dwc3 instead (Vicki Pfau)

  PCI device hotplug:

   - Add Ampere Altra Attention Indicator extension driver for acpiphp
     (D Scott Phillips)

  Power management:

   - Quirk VideoPropulsion Torrent QN16e with longer delay after reset
     (Lukas Wunner)

   - Prevent users from overriding drivers that say we shouldn't use
     D3cold (Lukas Wunner)

   - Avoid PME from D3hot/D3cold for AMD Rembrandt and Phoenix USB4
because wakeup interrupts from those states don't work if amd-pmc
has put the platform in a hardware sleep state (Mario Limonciello)

  IOMMU:

   - Disable ATS for Intel IPU E2000 devices with invalidation message
     endianness erratum (Bartosz Pawlowski)

  Error handling:

   - Factor out interrupt enable/disable into helpers (Kai-Heng Feng)

  Peer-to-peer DMA:

   - Fix flexible-array usage in struct pci_p2pdma_pagemap in case we
ever use pagemaps with multiple entries (Gustavo A. R. Silva)

  ASPM:

   - Revert a change that broke when drivers disabled L1 and users later
enabled an L1.x substate via sysfs, and fix a similar issue when
users disabled L1 via sysfs (Heiner Kallweit)

  Endpoint framework:

   - Fix double free in __pci_epc_create() (Dan Carpenter)

   - Use IS_ERR_OR_NULL() to simplify endpoint core (Ruan Jinjie)

  Cadence PCIe controller driver:

   - Drop unused "is_rc" member (Li Chen)

  Freescale Layerscape PCIe controller driver:

   - Enable 64-bit addressing in endpoint mode (Guanhua Gao)

  Intel VMD host bridge driver:

   - Fix multi-function header check (Ilpo Järvinen)

  Microsoft Hyper-V host bridge driver:

   - Annotate struct hv_dr_state with __counted_by (Kees Cook)

  NVIDIA Tegra194 PCIe controller driver:

   - Drop setting of LNKCAP_MLW (max link width) since dw_pcie_setup()
already does this via dw_pcie_link_set_max_link_width() (Yoshihiro
     Shimoda)

  Qualcomm PCIe controller driver:

   - Use PCIE_SPEED2MBS_ENC() to simplify encoding of link speed
     (Manivannan Sadhasivam)

   - Add a .write_dbi2() callback so DBI2 register writes, e.g., for
setting the BAR size, work correctly (Manivannan Sadhasivam)

   - Enable ASPM for platforms that use 1.9.0 ops, because the PCI core
doesn't enable ASPM states that haven't been enabled by the
     firmware (Manivannan Sadhasivam)

Renesas R-Car Gen4 PCIe controller driver:

   - Add DesignWare core support (set max link width, EDMA_UNROLL flag,
.pre_init(), .deinit(), etc) for use by R-Car Gen4 driver
     (Yoshihiro Shimoda)

   - Add driver and DT schema for DesignWare-based Renesas R-Car Gen4
controller in both host and endpoint mode (Yoshihiro Shimoda)

  Xilinx NWL PCIe controller driver:

   - Update ECAM size to support 256 buses (Thippeswamy Havalige)

   - Stop setting bridge primary/secondary/subordinate bus numbers,
since PCI core does this (Thippeswamy Havalige)

  Xilinx XDMA controller driver:

   - Add driver and DT schema for Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoCs devices with
Xilinx XDMA Soft IP (Thippeswamy Havalige)

  Miscellaneous:

   - Use FIELD_GET()/FIELD_PREP() to simplify and reduce use of _SHIFT
     macros (Ilpo Järvinen, Bjorn Helgaas)

   - Remove logic_outb(), _outw(), outl() duplicate declarations (John
     Sanpe)

   - Replace unnecessary UTF-8 in Kconfig help text because menuconfig
doesn't render it correctly (Liu Song)"

2c1fe3c480 drm/radeon: fix a possible null pointer dereference
In radeon_tv_get_modes(), the return value of drm_cvt_mode()
is assigned to mode, which will lead to a NULL pointer
dereference on failure of drm_cvt_mode(). Add a check to
avoid null point dereference.

dcbad72751 drm/radeon: make fence wait in suballocator uninterrruptable
Commit 254986e324 ("drm/radeon: Use the drm suballocation manager implementation.")
made the fence wait in amdgpu_sa_bo_new() interruptible but there is no
code to handle an interrupt. This caused the kernel to randomly explode
in high-VRAM-pressure situations so make it uninterruptible again.

Merge tag 'pci-v6.6-changes' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pci/pci

Pull PCI updates from Bjorn Helgaas:
 "Enumeration:
   - Add locking to read/modify/write PCIe Capability Register accessors
for Link Control and Root Control
   - Use pci_dev_id() when possible instead of manually composing ID
     from dev->bus->number and dev->devfn

  Resource management:
   - Move prototypes for __weak sysfs resource files to linux/pci.h to
     fix 'no previous prototype' warnings
   - Make more I/O port accesses depend on HAS_IOPORT
   - Use devm_platform_get_and_ioremap_resource() instead of open-coding
     platform_get_resource() followed by devm_ioremap_resource()

  Power management:
   - Ensure devices are powered up while accessing VPD
   - If device is powered-up, keep it that way while polling for PME
   - Only read PCI_PM_CTRL register when available, to avoid reading the
     wrong register and corrupting dev->current_state

  Virtualization:
   - Avoid Secondary Bus Reset on NVIDIA T4 GPUs

  Error handling:
   - Remove unused pci_disable_pcie_error_reporting()
   - Unexport pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting(), used only by aer.c
   - Unexport pcie_port_bus_type, used only by PCI core

  VGA:
   - Simplify and clean up typos in VGA arbiter

  Apple PCIe controller driver:
   - Initialize pcie->nvecs (number of available MSIs) before use

  Broadcom iProc PCIe controller driver:
   - Use of_property_read_bool() instead of low-level accessors for
     boolean properties

  Broadcom STB PCIe controller driver:
   - Assert PERST# when probing BCM2711 because some bootloaders don't
     do it

  Freescale i.MX6 PCIe controller driver:
   - Add .host_deinit() callback so we can clean up things like
regulators on probe failure or driver unload

  Freescale Layerscape PCIe controller driver:
   - Add support for link-down notification so the endpoint driver can
     process LINK_DOWN events
   - Add suspend/resume support, including manual
     PME_Turn_off/PME_TO_Ack handshake
   - Save Link Capabilities during probe so they can be restored when
handling a link-up event, since the controller loses the Link Width
and Link Speed values during reset

  Intel VMD host bridge driver:
   - Fix disable of bridge windows during domain reset; previously we
cleared the base/limit registers, which actually left the windows
     enabled

  Marvell MVEBU PCIe controller driver:
   - Remove unused busn member

  Microchip PolarFlare PCIe controller driver:
   - Fix interrupt bit definitions so the SEC and DED interrupt handlers
     work correctly
   - Make driver buildable as a module
   - Read FPGA MSI configuration parameters from hardware instead of
     hard-coding them

  Microsoft Hyper-V host bridge driver:
   - To avoid a NULL pointer dereference, skip MSI restore after
hibernate if MSI/MSI-X hasn't been enabled

  NVIDIA Tegra194 PCIe controller driver:
   - Revert 'PCI: tegra194: Enable support for 256 Byte payload' because
Linux doesn't know how to reduce MPS from to 256 to 128 bytes for
endpoints below a switch (because other devices below the switch

7189576e8a drm/radeon: Use RMW accessors for changing LNKCTL
Don't assume that only the driver would be accessing LNKCTL. ASPM policy
changes can trigger write to LNKCTL outside of driver's control. And in
the case of upstream bridge, the driver does not even own the device it's
changing the registers for.

Use RMW capability accessors which do proper locking to avoid losing
concurrent updates to the register value.

9eec1fc150 drm/radeon: Prefer strscpy over strlcpy in 'radeon_combios_get_power_modes'
strlcpy() reads the entire source buffer first. This read may exceed the
destination size limit. This is both inefficient and can lead to linear
read overflows if a source string is not NUL-terminated. The safe
replacement is strscpy() [1].

cleanup to remove the strlcpy() function entirely from the kernel [2].

27655b9bb9 drm/client: Send hotplug event after registering a client
Generate a hotplug event after registering a client to allow the
client to configure its display. Remove the hotplug calls from the
existing clients for fbdev emulation. This change fixes a concurrency
bug between registering a client and receiving events from the DRM
core. The bug is present in the fbdev emulation of all drivers.

The fbdev emulation currently generates a hotplug event before
registering the client to the device. For each new output, the DRM
core sends an additional hotplug event to each registered client.

If the DRM core detects first output between sending the artificial
hotplug and registering the device, the output's hotplug event gets
lost. If this is the first output, the fbdev console display remains
dark. This has been observed with amdgpu and fbdev-generic.

Fix this by adding hotplug generation directly to the client's
register helper drm_client_register(). Registering the client and
receiving events are serialized by struct drm_device.clientlist_mutex.
So an output is either configured by the initial hotplug event, or
the client has already been registered.

The bug was originally added in commit 6e3f17ee73 ("drm/fb-helper:
generic: Call drm_client_add() after setup is done"), in which adding
a client and receiving a hotplug event switched order. It was hidden,
as most hardware and drivers have at least on static output configured.
Other drivers didn't use the internal DRM client or still had struct
drm_mode_config_funcs.output_poll_changed set. That callback handled
hotplug events as well. After not setting the callback in amdgpu in
commit 0e3172bac3 ("drm/amdgpu: Don't set struct
drm_driver.output_poll_changed"), amdgpu did not show a framebuffer
console if output events got lost. The bug got copy-pasted from
fbdev-generic into the other fbdev emulation.

Merge tag 'hardening-v6.5-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kees/linux

Pull hardening updates from Kees Cook:
"There are three areas of note:

A bunch of strlcpy()->strscpy() conversions ended up living in my tree
since they were either Acked by maintainers for me to carry, or got
ignored for multiple weeks (and were trivial changes).

The compiler option '-fstrict-flex-arrays=3' has been enabled
globally, and has been in -next for the entire devel cycle. This
changes compiler diagnostics (though mainly just -Warray-bounds which
is disabled) and potential UBSAN_BOUNDS and FORTIFY _warning_
coverage. In other words, there are no new restrictions, just
potentially new warnings. Any new FORTIFY warnings we've seen have
been fixed (usually in their respective subsystem trees). For more
  details, see commit df8fc4e934.

The under-development compiler attribute __counted_by has been added
so that we can start annotating flexible array members with their
associated structure member that tracks the count of flexible array
elements at run-time. It is possible (likely?) that the exact syntax
of the attribute will change before it is finalized, but GCC and Clang
are working together to sort it out. Any changes can be made to the
macro while we continue to add annotations.

As an example of that last case, I have a treewide commit waiting with
  such annotations found via Coccinelle:

    https://git.kernel.org/linus/adc5b3cb48a049563dc673f348eab7b6beba8a9b

Also see commit dd06e72e68 for more details.

  Summary:

   - Convert strreplace() to return string start (Andy Shevchenko)

The buffer object backing the fbdev emulation got pinned twice: by the
fb_probe helper radeon_fbdev_create_pinned_object() and the modesetting
code when the framebuffer got displayed. It only got unpinned once by
the fbdev helper radeon_fbdev_destroy_pinned_object(). Hence TTM's BO-
release function complains about the pin counter. Forcing the outputs
off also undoes the modesettings pin increment.

The buffer object backing the fbdev emulation got pinned twice: by the
fb_probe helper radeon_fbdev_create_pinned_object() and the modesetting
code when the framebuffer got displayed. It only got unpinned once by
the fbdev helper radeon_fbdev_destroy_pinned_object(). Hence TTM's BO-
release function complains about the pin counter. Forcing the outputs
off also undoes the modesettings pin increment.

54d020692b mm/gup: remove unused vmas parameter from get_user_pages()
Patch series "remove the vmas parameter from GUP APIs", v6.

(pin_/get)_user_pages[_remote]() each provide an optional output parameter
for an array of VMA objects associated with each page in the input range.

These provide the means for VMAs to be returned, as long as mm->mmap_lock
is never released during the GUP operation (i.e. the internal flag
FOLL_UNLOCKABLE is not specified).

In addition, these VMAs can only be accessed with the mmap_lock held and
become invalidated the moment it is released.

The vast majority of invocations do not use this functionality and of
those that do, all but one case retrieve a single VMA to perform checks
upon.

It is not egregious in the single VMA cases to simply replace the
operation with a vma_lookup(). In these cases we duplicate the (fast)
lookup on a slow path already under the mmap_lock, abstracted to a new
get_user_page_vma_remote() inline helper function which also performs
error checking and reference count maintenance.

The special case is io_uring, where io_pin_pages() specifically needs to
assert that the VMAs underlying the range do not result in broken
long-term GUP file-backed mappings.

As GUP now internally asserts that FOLL_LONGTERM mappings are not
file-backed in a broken fashion (i.e. requiring dirty tracking) - as
implemented in "mm/gup: disallow FOLL_LONGTERM GUP-nonfast writing to
file-backed mappings" - this logic is no longer required and so we can
simply remove it altogether from io_uring.

Eliminating the vmas parameter eliminates an entire class of danging
pointer errors that might have occured should the lock have been
incorrectly released.

In addition, the API is simplified and now clearly expresses what it is
intended for - applying the specified GUP flags and (if pinning) returning
pinned pages.

This change additionally opens the door to further potential improvements
in GUP and the possible marrying of disparate code paths.

I have run this series against gup_test with no issues.

Thanks to Matthew Wilcox for suggesting this refactoring!

This patch (of 6):

No invocation of get_user_pages() use the vmas parameter, so remove it.

The GUP API is confusing and caveated. Recent changes have done much to
improve that, however there is more we can do. Exporting vmas is a prime
target as the caller has to be extremely careful to preclude their use
after the mmap_lock has expired or otherwise be left with dangling
pointers.

Removing the vmas parameter focuses the GUP functions upon their primary
purpose - pinning (and outputting) pages as well as performing the actions
implied by the input flags.

This is part of a patch series aiming to remove the vmas parameter
altogether.

e317a69fe8 drm/radeon: Implement client-based fbdev emulation
Implement fbdev emulation on top of struct drm_client and its helpers.
Replaces ad-hoc interfaces for restoring and closing fbdev emulation with
per-client callbacks for hotplugging, restoring and unregistering.

A single function, radeon_fbdev_setup(), starts fbdev emulation after
the DRM device has been registered. Hence, fbdev acts like a regular
DRM client.

The setup call prepares the fbdev emulation and invokes connector
hotplugging. The first successful hotplug event initializes fbdev
emulation with a framebuffer, device file, etc.

Unregistering depends on the hotplug status. Fully initialized emulation
is cleaned up through drm_fb_helper_unregister_info() and fb_destroy.
For prepared-only setups, unregistering unprepares the emulation and
releases all resources. In both cases, fbdev emulation will be cleaned
up.

the handle that. However it looks like we forgot to handle that for
radeon. It looks like this will just null-ptr-deref in
radeon_bo_move(), if bo->resource is NULL.

Fix this by calling move_null().

3fb1f62f80 drm/fb-helper: Remove drm_fb_helper_unprepare() from drm_fb_helper_fini()
Move drm_fb_helper_unprepare() from drm_fb_helper_fini() into the
calling fbdev implementation. Avoids a possible stale mutex with
generic fbdev code.

As indicated by its name, drm_fb_helper_prepare() prepares struct
drm_fb_helper before setting up the fbdev support with a call to
drm_fb_helper_init(). In legacy fbdev emulation, this happens next
to each other. If successful, drm_fb_helper_fini() later tear down
the fbdev device and also unprepare via drm_fb_helper_unprepare().

Generic fbdev emulation prepares struct drm_fb_helper immediately
after allocating the instance. It only calls drm_fb_helper_init()
as part of processing a hotplug event. If the hotplug-handling fails,
it runs drm_fb_helper_fini(). This unprepares the fb-helper instance
and the next hotplug event runs on stale data.

Solve this by moving drm_fb_helper_unprepare() from drm_fb_helper_fini()
into the fbdev implementations. Call it right before freeing the
fb-helper instance.

f87c1f0b7b drm/ttm: prevent moving of pinned BOs
We have checks for this in the individual drivers move callback, but
it's probably better to generally forbid that on a higher level.

Also stops exporting ttm_resource_compat() since that's not necessary
any more after removing the extra checks in vmwgfx.

6c80a93be6 drm/fb-helper: Initialize fb-helper's preferred BPP in prepare function
Initialize the fb-helper's preferred_bpp field early from within
drm_fb_helper_prepare(); instead of the later client hot-plugging
callback. This simplifies the generic fbdev setup function.

No real changes, but all drivers' fbdev code has to be adapted.
