a1e2da6a50 drm/radeon/r600_cs: Fix possible int overflow in r600_packet3_check()
It is possible, although unlikely, that an integer overflow will occur
when the result of radeon_get_ib_value() is shifted to the left.

Avoid it by casting one of the operands to larger data type (u64).

Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with static
analysis tool SVACE.

41d48e557e drm/radeon: Run DRM default client setup
Rework fbdev probing to support fbdev_probe in struct drm_driver
and remove the old fb_probe callback. Provide an initializer macro
for struct drm_driver that sets the callback according to the kernel
configuration.

Call drm_client_setup() to run the kernel's default client setup
for DRM. Set fbdev_probe in struct drm_driver, so that the client
setup can start the common fbdev client.

The radeon driver specifies a preferred color mode depending on
the available video memory, with a default of 32. Adapt this for
the new client interface.

v5:
- select DRM_CLIENT_SELECTION
v2:
- style changes

Pull drm updates from Dave Airlie:
 "This adds a couple of patches outside the drm core, all should be
  acked appropriately, the string and pstore ones are the main ones that
  come to mind.

  Otherwise it's the usual drivers, xe is getting enabled by default on
  some new hardware, we've changed the device number handling to allow
  more devices, and we added some optional rust code to create QR codes
  in the panic handler, an idea first suggested I think 10 years ago :-)

641bb4394f fs: move FMODE_UNSIGNED_OFFSET to fop_flags
This is another flag that is statically set and doesn't need to use up
an FMODE_* bit. Move it to ->fop_flags and free up another FMODE_* bit.

(1) mem_open() used from proc_mem_operations
(2) adi_open() used from adi_fops
(3) drm_open_helper():
    (3.1) accel_open() used from DRM_ACCEL_FOPS
    (3.2) drm_open() used from
    (3.2.1) amdgpu_driver_kms_fops
    (3.2.2) psb_gem_fops
    (3.2.3) i915_driver_fops

    (3.2.5) panthor_drm_driver_fops
    (3.2.6) radeon_driver_kms_fops
    (3.2.7) tegra_drm_fops
    (3.2.8) vmwgfx_driver_fops
    (3.2.9) xe_driver_fops
    (3.2.10) DRM_GEM_FOPS
    (3.2.11) DEFINE_DRM_GEM_DMA_FOPS
(4) struct memdev sets fmode flags based on type of device opened. For
    devices using struct mem_fops unsigned offset is used.

Mark all these file operations as FOP_UNSIGNED_OFFSET and add asserts
into the open helper to ensure that the flag is always set.

3fbaf475a5 drm/radeon/evergreen_cs: fix int overflow errors in cs track offsets
Several cs track offsets (such as 'track->db_s_read_offset')
either are initialized with or plainly take big enough values that,
once shifted 8 bits left, may be hit with integer overflow if the
resulting values end up going over u32 limit.

Same goes for a few instances of 'surf.layer_size * mslice'
multiplications that are added to 'offset' variable - they may
potentially overflow as well and need to be validated properly.

While some debug prints in this code section take possible overflow
issues into account, simply casting to (unsigned long) may be
erroneous in its own way, as depending on CPU architecture one is
liable to get different results.

Fix said problems by:
 - casting 'offset' to fixed u64 data type instead of
 ambiguous unsigned long.
 - casting one of the operands in vulnerable to integer
 overflow cases to u64.
 - adjust format specifiers in debug prints to properly
 represent 'offset' values.

Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with static
analysis tool SVACE.

1a251f52cf minmax: make generic MIN() and MAX() macros available everywhere
This just standardizes the use of MIN() and MAX() macros, with the very
traditional semantics. The goal is to use these for C constant
expressions and for top-level / static initializers, and so be able to
simplify the min()/max() macros.

These macro names were used by various kernel code - they are very
traditional, after all - and all such users have been fixed up, with a
few different approaches:

 - trivial duplicated macro definitions have been removed

   Note that 'trivial' here means that it's obviously kernel code that
   already included all the major kernel headers, and thus gets the new
   generic MIN/MAX macros automatically.

 - non-trivial duplicated macro definitions are guarded with #ifndef

   This is the "yes, they define their own versions, but no, the include
   situation is not entirely obvious, and maybe they don't get the
   generic version automatically" case.

 - strange use case #1

   A couple of drivers decided that the way they want to describe their
   versioning is with

	#define MAJ 1
	#define MIN 2
	#define DRV_VERSION __stringify(MAJ) "." __stringify(MIN)

   which adds zero value and I just did my Alexander the Great
   impersonation, and rewrote that pointless Gordian knot as

	#define DRV_VERSION "1.2"

   instead.

 - strange use case #2

   A couple of drivers thought that it's a good idea to have a random
   'MIN' or 'MAX' define for a value or index into a table, rather than
   the traditional macro that takes arguments.

   These values were re-written as C enum's instead. The new
   function-line macros only expand when followed by an open
   parenthesis, and thus don't clash with enum use.

Happily, there weren't really all that many of these cases, and a lot of
users already had the pattern of using '#ifndef' guarding (or in one
case just using '#undef MIN') before defining their own private version
that does the same thing. I left such cases alone.

c6bb3acf1c drm/radeon: convert bios_hardcoded_edid to drm_edid
Instead of manually passing around 'struct edid *' and its size,
use 'struct drm_edid', which encapsulates a validated combination of
both.

As the drm_edid_ can handle NULL gracefully, the explicit checks can be
dropped.

Also save a few characters by transforming '&array[0]' to the equivalent
'array' and using 'max_t(int, ...)' instead of manual casts.

"drm_dev_alloc" is deprecated, in order to use the newer "devm_drm_dev_alloc",
the "drm_device" is stored inside "radeon_device", by changing "rdev_to_drm(rdev)"
other functions still gain access to the member "drm_device". Also, "devm_drm_dev_alloc"
is now allocating "radeon_device", allocation inside "radeon_driver_load_kms" has to be
removed.

In "radeon_device_init", it originally assigned "rdev->dev" etc. However it is already
done right after "devm_drm_dev_alloc" as you can see down below. It is better remove them.

2bac084468 drm/radeon: Remove __counted_by from StateArray.states[]
Work for __counted_by on generic pointers in structures (not just
flexible array members) has started landing in Clang 19 (current tip of
tree). During the development of this feature, a restriction was added
to __counted_by to prevent the flexible array member's element type from
including a flexible array member itself such as:

  struct foo {
    int count;
    char buf[];
  };

  struct bar {
    int count;
    struct foo data[] __counted_by(count);
  };

because the size of data cannot be calculated with the standard array
size formula:

  sizeof(struct foo) * count

This restriction was downgraded to a warning but due to CONFIG_WERROR,
it can still break the build. The application of __counted_by on the
states member of 'struct _StateArray' triggers this restriction,
resulting in:

  drivers/gpu/drm/radeon/pptable.h:442:5: error: 'counted_by' should not be applied to an array with element of unknown size because 'ATOM_PPLIB_STATE_V2' (aka 'struct _ATOM_PPLIB_STATE_V2') is a struct type with a flexible array member. This will be an error in a future compiler version [-Werror,-Wbounds-safety-counted-by-elt-type-unknown-size]
    442 |     ATOM_PPLIB_STATE_V2 states[] __counted_by(ucNumEntries);
        |     ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  1 error generated.

Remove this use of __counted_by to fix the warning/error. However,
rather than remove it altogether, leave it commented, as it may be
possible to support this in future compiler releases.

8032e67f79 drm/radeon: remove radeon_connector_edid() and stop using edid_blob_ptr
radeon_connector_edid() copies the EDID from edid_blob_ptr as a side
effect if radeon_connector->edid isn't initialized. However, everywhere
that the returned EDID is used, the EDID should have been set
beforehands.

Only the drm EDID code should look at the EDID property, anyway, so stop
using it.

347eccc405 drm/radeon: initialize backlight for iMac12,2 with Radeon 6750M
If a Radeon 6750M GPU from an iMac12,1 is installed into an
iMac 12,2, there is no backlight device initialized during
boot. Everything else is functional, but the display brightness
cannot be controlled. There are no directories present in
/sys/class/backlight after booting. A simple one line
modification to an if statement fixes this issue by initializing
the radeon backlight device for an iMac12,2 as well if it has a
6750M. After the patch, brightness can be controlled and
radeon_bl0 is present in /sys/class/backlight. This was tested
by compiling the latest kernel with and without the patch.

Revert "drm: Switch DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER to depends on"
This reverts commit e075e496f5, as helper
code should always be selected by the driver that needs it, for the
convenience of the final user configuring a kernel.

The user who configures a kernel should not need to know which helpers
are needed for the driver he is interested in. Making a driver depend
on helper code means that the user needs to know which helpers to enable
first, which is very user-unfriendly.

ae6a233092 drm/radeon/radeon_display: Decrease the size of allocated memory
This is an effort to get rid of all multiplications from allocation
functions in order to prevent integer overflows [1] [2].

In this case, the memory allocated to store RADEONFB_CONN_LIMIT pointers
to "drm_connector" structures can be avoided. This is because this
memory area is never accessed.

Also, in the kzalloc function, it is preferred to use sizeof(*pointer)
instead of sizeof(type) due to the type of the variable can change and
one needs not change the former (unlike the latter).

At the same time take advantage to remove the "#if 0" block, the code
where the removed memory area was accessed, and the RADEONFB_CONN_LIMIT
constant due to now is never used.

a780278472 drm/gem: Acquire reservation lock in drm_gem_{pin/unpin}()
Acquire the buffer object's reservation lock in drm_gem_pin() and
remove locking the drivers' GEM callbacks where necessary. Same for
unpin().

DRM drivers and memory managers modified by this patch will now have
correct dma-buf locking semantics: the caller is responsible for
holding the reservation lock when calling the pin or unpin callback.

DRM drivers and memory managers that are not modified will now be
protected against concurent invocation of their pin and unpin callbacks.

PRIME does not implement struct dma_buf_ops.pin, which requires
the caller to hold the reservation lock. It does implement struct
dma_buf_ops.attach, which requires to callee to acquire the
reservation lock. The PRIME code uses drm_gem_pin(), so locks
are now taken as specified. Same for unpin and detach.

The patch harmonizes GEM pin and unpin to have non-interruptible
reservation locking across all drivers, as is already the case for
vmap and vunmap. This affects gem-shmem, gem-vram, loongson, qxl and
radeon.

ed8d84530a This cycle, I2C removes the currently unused CLASS_DDC support
(controllers set the flag, but there is no client to use it). Also,
 CLASS_SPD support gets simplified to prepare removal in the future.
 Class based instantiation is not recommended these days anyhow.
 Furthermore, I2C core now creates a debugfs directory per I2C adapter.
 Current bus driver users were converted to use it. Then, there are also
 quite some driver updates. Standing out are patches for the wmt-driver
 which is refactored to support more variants. This is the rebased pull
 request where a large series for the designware driver was dropped.

e965a70727 drm: remove I2C_CLASS_DDC support
After removal of the legacy EEPROM driver and I2C_CLASS_DDC support in
olpc_dcon there's no i2c client driver left supporting I2C_CLASS_DDC.
Class-based device auto-detection is a legacy mechanism and shouldn't
be used in new code. So we can remove this class completely now.

c2709b2d6a gpu/drm/radeon: fix two memleaks in radeon_vm_init
When radeon_bo_create and radeon_vm_clear_bo fail, the vm->page_tables
allocated before need to be freed. However, neither radeon_vm_init
itself nor its caller have done such deallocation.

69a83fd3f0 drm/radeon: Prevent multiple debug error lines on suspend
Fix to avoid multiple debug error lines printed on every suspend by Radeon driver's debugfs.

radeon_debugfs_init() calls debugfs_create_file() for every ring.

This results in printing multiple error lines to the screen and dmesg similar to this:

[   92.378726] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_gfx' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.378732] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_cp1' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.378734] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_cp2' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.378737] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_dma1' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.378739] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_dma2' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.380775] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_uvd' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.406620] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_vce1' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!
[   92.406624] debugfs: File 'radeon_ring_vce2' in directory '0000:00:01.0' already present!

Patch v1: The fix was to run lookup() for the file before trying to (re)create that debug file.
Patch v2: Call the radeon_debugfs_init() only once when radeon ring is initialized (as suggested
by Christian K. - thanks)
