ed8d84530a This cycle, I2C removes the currently unused CLASS_DDC support
(controllers set the flag, but there is no client to use it). Also,
CLASS_SPD support gets simplified to prepare removal in the future.
Class based instantiation is not recommended these days anyhow.
Furthermore, I2C core now creates a debugfs directory per I2C adapter.
Current bus driver users were converted to use it. Then, there are also
quite some driver updates. Standing out are patches for the wmt-driver
which is refactored to support more variants. This is the rebased pull
request where a large series for the designware driver was dropped.

e965a70727 drm: remove I2C_CLASS_DDC support
After removal of the legacy EEPROM driver and I2C_CLASS_DDC support in
olpc_dcon there's no i2c client driver left supporting I2C_CLASS_DDC.
Class-based device auto-detection is a legacy mechanism and shouldn't
be used in new code. So we can remove this class completely now.

f5b6fd4ea3 drm/mgag200: Fix caching setup for remapped video memory
I/O video memory for the framebuffer supports write-combine caching
mode. Simplify the driver's code that sets up the caching mode.

 * Map video memory with ioremap_wc(), which automatically sets up
the PAT entry with write-combine caching.

 * Remove the now obsolete call to devm_arch_io_reserve_memtype_wc().
It is only required to mmap the video memory to user space, which the
driver doesn't do.

 * According to the PAT documentation, arch_phys_wc_add() is best
called after remapping I/O memory, so move it after ioremap.

11f9eb899e drm/mgag200: Fix gamma lut not initialized for G200ER, G200EV, G200SE
When mgag200 switched from simple KMS to regular atomic helpers,
the initialization of the gamma settings was lost.
This leads to a black screen, if the bios/uefi doesn't use the same
pixel color depth.
This has been fixed with commit ad81e23426 ("drm/mgag200: Fix gamma
lut not initialized.") for most G200, but G200ER, G200EV, G200SE use
their own version of crtc_helper_atomic_enable() and need to be fixed
too.

3c4babae3c drm: Call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at shutdown/remove time for misc drivers
Based on grepping through the source code these drivers appear to be
missing a call to drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at system shutdown time
and at driver remove (or unbind) time. Among other things, this means
that if a panel is in use that it won't be cleanly powered off at
system shutdown time.

The fact that we should call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() in the case
of OS shutdown/restart and at driver remove (or unbind) time comes
straight out of the kernel doc "driver instance overview" in
drm_drv.c.

A few notes about these fixes:
- I confirmed that these drivers were all DRIVER_MODESET type drivers,
which I believe makes this relevant.
- I confirmed that these drivers were all DRIVER_ATOMIC.
- When adding drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() to the remove/unbind path,
I added it after drm_kms_helper_poll_fini() when the driver had
it. This seemed to be what other drivers did. If
drm_kms_helper_poll_fini() wasn't there I added it straight after
  drm_dev_unregister().
- This patch deals with drivers using the component model in similar
ways as the patch ("drm: Call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at
  shutdown time for misc drivers")
- These fixes rely on the patch ("drm/atomic-helper:
drm_atomic_helper_shutdown(NULL) should be a noop") to simplify
  shutdown.

7c99616e3f drm: Remove drm_mode_config::fb_base
The fb_base in struct drm_mode_config has been unused for a long time.
Some drivers set it and some don't leading to a very confusing state
where the variable can't be relied upon, because there's no indication
as to which driver sets it and which doesn't.

The only usage of fb_base is internal to two drivers so instead of trying
to force it into all the drivers to get it into a coherent state
completely remove it.

drm/mgag200: Do not call drm_atomic_add_affected_planes()
There's no need to add planes to the atomic state. Remove the call
to drm_atomic_add_affected_planes() from mgag200.

On full modesets, the DRM helpers already add a CRTC's planes to the
atomic state; see drm_atomic_helper_check_modeset(). There's no reason
to call drm_atomic_add_affected_planes() unconditionally in the CRTC's
atomic_check() in mgag200. It's also too late, as the atomic_check()
of the added planes will not be called before the commit.

5415bec18c drm/mgag200: Force 32 bpp on the console
G200ER does not seem to support 24 bpp, so force the console to
use 32 bpp. The problem got introduced when commit 73f54d5d96
("drm/mgag200: Remove special case for G200SE with <2 MiB") changed
the preferred color depth from 32 bit to 24 bit.

A setting of 24 is the correct color depth, but G200ER doesn't seem
to be able to use the respective RGB888 color format. Using 24-bit
color with forced 32 bpp works around the problem.

73f54d5d96 drm/mgag200: Remove special case for G200SE with <2 MiB
Remove old test for 32-bit vs 16-bit colors. Prefer 24-bit color depth
on all devices. 32-bit color depth doesn't exist, it should have always
been 24-bit.

G200SE with less than 2 MiB of video memory have defaulted to 16-bit
color depth, as the original revision of the G200SE had only 1.75 MiB
of video memory. Using 16-bit colors enabled XGA resolution. But we
now already limit these devices to VGA resolutions as the memory-bandwith
test assumes 32-bit pixel size. So drop the special case from color-depth

40ce1121c1 drm/mgag200: Fix PLL setup for g200wb and g200ew
commit f86c3ed559 ("drm/mgag200: Split PLL setup into compute and
update functions") introduced a regression for g200wb and g200ew.
The PLLs are not set up properly, and VGA screen stays
black, or displays "out of range" message.

MGA1064_WB_PIX_PLLC_N/M/P was mistakenly replaced with
MGA1064_PIX_PLLC_N/M/P which have different addresses.

Patch tested on a Dell T310 with g200wb

Lucas De Marchi
7938f42181 dma-buf-map: Rename to iosys-map
Rename struct dma_buf_map to struct iosys_map and corresponding APIs.
Over time dma-buf-map grew up to more functionality than the one used by
dma-buf: in fact it's just a shim layer to abstract system memory, that
can be accessed via regular load and store, from IO memory that needs to
be acessed via arch helpers.

The idea is to extend this API so it can fulfill other needs, internal
to a single driver. Example: in the i915 driver it's desired to share
the implementation for integrated graphics, which uses mostly system
memory, with discrete graphics, which may need to access IO memory.

The conversion was mostly done with the following semantic patch:

	@r1@
	@@
	- struct dma_buf_map
	+ struct iosys_map

	@r2@
	@@
	(
	- DMA_BUF_MAP_INIT_VADDR
	+ IOSYS_MAP_INIT_VADDR
	|
	- dma_buf_map_set_vaddr
	+ iosys_map_set_vaddr
	|
	- dma_buf_map_set_vaddr_iomem
	+ iosys_map_set_vaddr_iomem
	|
	- dma_buf_map_is_equal
	+ iosys_map_is_equal
	|
	- dma_buf_map_is_null
	+ iosys_map_is_null
	|
	- dma_buf_map_is_set
	+ iosys_map_is_set
	|
	- dma_buf_map_clear
	+ iosys_map_clear
	|
	- dma_buf_map_memcpy_to
	+ iosys_map_memcpy_to
	|
	- dma_buf_map_incr
	+ iosys_map_incr
	)

	@@
	@@
	- #include <linux/dma-buf-map.h>
	+ #include <linux/iosys-map.h>

Then some files had their includes adjusted and some comments were
update to remove mentions to dma-buf-map.

Since this is not specific to dma-buf anymore, move the documentation to
the "Bus-Independent Device Accesses" section.

v2:
  - Squash patches

v3:
  - Fix wrong removal of dma-buf.h from MAINTAINERS
  - Move documentation from dma-buf.rst to device-io.rst

v4:
  - Change documentation title and level

028a73e107 mgag200 fix memmapsl configuration in GCTL6 register
On some servers with MGA G200_SE_A (rev 42), booting with Legacy BIOS,
the hardware hangs when using kdump and kexec into the kdump kernel.
This happens when the uncompress code tries to write "Decompressing Linux"
to the VGA Console.

It can be reproduced by writing to the VGA console (0xB8000) after
booting to graphic mode, it generates the following error:

kernel:NMI: PCI system error (SERR) for reason a0 on CPU 0.
kernel:Dazed and confused, but trying to continue

The root cause is the configuration of the MGA GCTL6 register

According to the GCTL6 register documentation:

bit 0 is gcgrmode:
0: Enables alpha mode, and the character generator addressing system is
     activated.
1: Enables graphics mode, and the character addressing system is not
     used.

bit 1 is chainodd even:
0: The A0 signal of the memory address bus is used during system memory
     addressing.
1: Allows A0 to be replaced by either the A16 signal of the system
address (ifmemmapsl is ‘00’), or by the hpgoddev (MISC<5>, odd/even
page select) field, described on page 3-294).

bit 3-2 are memmapsl:
Memory map select bits 1 and 0. VGA.
These bits select where the video memory is mapped, as shown below:
        00 => A0000h - BFFFFh
        01 => A0000h - AFFFFh
        10 => B0000h - B7FFFh
        11 => B8000h - BFFFFh

bit 7-4 are reserved.

Current code set it to 0x05 => memmapsl to b01 => 0xa0000 (graphic mode)
But on x86, the VGA console is at 0xb8000 (text mode)
In arch/x86/boot/compressed/misc.c debug strings are written to 0xb8000
As the driver doesn't use this mapping at 0xa0000, it is safe to set it to
0xb8000 instead, to avoid kernel hang on G200_SE_A rev42, with kexec/kdump.

Thus changing the value 0x05 to 0x0d

drm: Move nomodeset kernel parameter to the DRM subsystem
The "nomodeset" kernel cmdline parameter is handled by the vgacon driver
but the exported vgacon_text_force() symbol is only used by DRM drivers.

It makes much more sense for the parameter logic to be in the subsystem
of the drivers that are making use of it.

Let's move the vgacon_text_force() function and related logic to the DRM
subsystem. While doing that, rename it to drm_firmware_drivers_only() and
make it return true if "nomodeset" was used and false otherwise. This is

The fields in struct mgag200_pll_values currently hold the bits of

Until now, the compute function either stored plain values or register

f86c3ed559 drm/mgag200: Split PLL setup into compute and update functions
The _set_plls() functions compute a pixel clock's PLL values
and program the hardware accordingly. This happens during atomic
commits.

For atomic modesetting, it's better to separate computation and
programming from each other. This will allow to compute the PLL
value during atomic checks and catch unsupported modes early.

Split the PLL setup into a compute and an update functions, and
call them one after the other. Computed PLL values are store in
struct mgag200_pll_values. There are four parameters for the PLL,
m, n, p and s. Every compute function stores a value for each
of these parameters, and the rsp update function makes the register
bits from them. The values stored by the compute function are
either plain values or register bits. An additional change is
required to always store plain values.
