Page fault handlers are supposed to return VM_FAULT codes, but some drivers/file systems mistakenly return error numbers. Now that all drivers/file systems have been converted to use the vm_fault_t return type, change the type definition to no longer be compatible with 'int'. By making it an unsigned int, the function prototype becomes incompatible with a function which returns int. Sparse will detect any attempts to return a value which is not a VM_FAULT code. VM_FAULT_SET_HINDEX and VM_FAULT_GET_HINDEX values are changed to avoid conflict with other VM_FAULT codes. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
