dmaengine: idxd: add configuration for concurrent batch descriptor processing
Add sysfs knob to allow control of the number of batch descriptors that can be concurrently processed by an engine in the group as a fraction of the Maximum Work Descriptors in Progress value specfied in ENGCAP register. This control knob is part of toggle for QoS control. dmaengine: idxd: add WQ operation cap restriction support
DSA 2.0 add the capability of configuring DMA ops on a per workqueue basis. This means that certain ops can be disabled by the system administrator for certain wq. By default, all ops are available. A bitmap is used to store the ops due to total op size of 256 bits and it is more convenient to use a range list to specify which bits are enabled. One of the usage to support this is for VM migration between different iteration of devices. The newer ops are disabled in order to allow guest to migrate to a host that only support older ops. Another usage is to restrict the WQ to certain operations for QoS of performance. A sysfs of ops_config attribute is added per wq. It is only usable when the ops_config bit is set under WQ_CAP register. This means that this attribute will return -EOPNOTSUPP on DSA 1.x devices. The expected input is a range list for the bits per operation the WQ supports. Here is the large set of char, misc, and other driver subsystem updates for 5.19-rc1. The merge request for this has been delayed as I wanted to get lots of linux-next testing due to some late arrivals of changes for the habannalabs driver. bus: mhi: host: Add soc_reset sysfs
The MHI bus supports a standardized hardware reset, which is known as the "SoC Reset". This reset is similar to the reset sysfs for PCI devices - a hardware mechanism to reset the state back to square one. The MHI SoC Reset is described in the spec as a reset of last resort. If some unrecoverable error has occurred where other resets have failed, SoC Reset is the "big hammer" that ungracefully resets the device. This is effectivly the same as yanking the power on the device, and reapplying it. However, depending on the nature of the particular issue, the underlying transport link may remain active and configured. If the link remains up, the device will flag a MHI system error early in the boot process after the reset is executed, which allows the MHI bus to process a fatal error event, and clean up appropiately. While the SoC Reset is generally intended as a means of recovery when all else has failed, it can be useful in non-error scenarios. For example, if the device loads firmware from the host filesystem, the device may need to be fully rebooted inorder to pick up the new firmware. In this scenario, the system administrator may use the soc_reset sysfs to cause the device to pick up the new firmware that the admin placed on the filesystem. blk-crypto: show crypto capabilities in sysfs
Add sysfs files that expose the inline encryption capabilities of
request queues:
/sys/block/$disk/queue/crypto/max_dun_bits
/sys/block/$disk/queue/crypto/modes/$mode
/sys/block/$disk/queue/crypto/num_keyslots
Userspace can use these new files to decide what encryption settings to
use, or whether to use inline encryption at all. This also brings the
crypto capabilities in line with the other queue properties, which are
already discoverable via the queue directory in sysfs.
Design notes:
- Place the new files in a new subdirectory "crypto" to group them
together and to avoid complicating the main "queue" directory. This
also makes it possible to replace "crypto" with a symlink later if
we ever make the blk_crypto_profiles into real kobjects (see below).
- It was necessary to define a new kobject that corresponds to the
crypto subdirectory. For now, this kobject just contains a pointer
to the blk_crypto_profile. Note that multiple queues (and hence
multiple such kobjects) may refer to the same blk_crypto_profile.
An alternative design would more closely match the current kernel
data structures: the blk_crypto_profile could be a kobject itself,
located directly under the host controller device's kobject, while
/sys/block/$disk/queue/crypto would be a symlink to it.
I decided not to do that for now because it would require a lot more
changes, such as no longer embedding blk_crypto_profile in other
structures, and also because I'm not sure we can rule out moving the
crypto capabilities into 'struct queue_limits' in the future. (Even
if multiple queues share the same crypto engine, maybe the supported
data unit sizes could differ due to other queue properties.) It
would also still be possible to switch to that design later without
breaking userspace, by replacing the directory with a symlink.
- Use "max_dun_bits" instead of "max_dun_bytes". Currently, the
kernel internally stores this value in bytes, but that's an
implementation detail. It probably makes more sense to talk about
this value in bits, and choosing bits is more future-proof.
- "modes" is a sub-subdirectory, since there may be multiple supported
crypto modes, sysfs is supposed to have one value per file, and it
makes sense to group all the mode files together.
- Each mode had to be named. The crypto API names like "xts(aes)" are
not appropriate because they don't specify the key size. Therefore,
I assigned new names. The exact names chosen are arbitrary, but
they happen to match the names used in log messages in fs/crypto/.
- The "num_keyslots" file is a bit different from the others in that
it is only useful to know for performance reasons. However, it's
included as it can still be useful. For example, a user might not
want to use inline encryption if there aren't very many keyslots.

topology/sysfs: Add PPIN in sysfs under cpu topology
PPIN is the Protected Processor Identification Number. This is used to identify the socket as a Field Replaceable Unit (FRU). Existing code only displays this when reporting errors. But this makes it inconvenient for large clusters to use it for its intended purpose of inventory control. Add ppin to /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/topology to make what is already available using RDMSR more easily accessible. Make the file read only for root in case there are still people concerned about making a unique system "serial number" available. dmaengine: idxd: add knob for enqcmds retries
Add a sysfs knob to allow tuning of retries for the kernel ENQCMDS descriptor submission. While on host, it is not as likely that ENQCMDS return busy during normal operations due to the driver controlling the number of descriptors allocated for submission. However, when the driver is operating as a guest driver, the chance of retry goes up significantly due to sharing a wq with multiple VMs. A default value is provided with the system admin being able to tune the value on a per WQ basis. x86/sgx: Add an attribute for the amount of SGX memory in a NUMA node
== Problem == The amount of SGX memory on a system is determined by the BIOS and it varies wildly between systems. It can be as small as dozens of MB's and as large as many GB's on servers. Just like how applications need to know how much regular RAM is available, enclave builders need to know how much SGX memory an enclave can consume. == Solution == Introduce a new sysfs file: /sys/devices/system/node/nodeX/x86/sgx_total_bytes to enumerate the amount of SGX memory available in each NUMA node. This serves the same function for SGX as /proc/meminfo or /sys/devices/system/node/nodeX/meminfo does for normal RAM. 'sgx_total_bytes' is needed today to help drive the SGX selftests. SGX-specific swap code is exercised by creating overcommitted enclaves which are larger than the physical SGX memory on the system. They currently use a CPUID-based approach which can diverge from the actual amount of SGX memory available. 'sgx_total_bytes' ensures that the selftests can work efficiently and do not attempt stupid things like creating a 100,000 MB enclave on a system with 128 MB of SGX memory. == Implementation Details == Introduce CONFIG_HAVE_ARCH_NODE_DEV_GROUP opt-in flag to expose an arch specific attribute group, and add an attribute for the amount of SGX memory in bytes to each NUMA node: == ABI Design Discussion == As opposed to the per-node ABI, a single, global ABI was considered. However, this would prevent enclaves from being able to size themselves so that they fit on a single NUMA node. Essentially, a single value would rule out NUMA optimizations for enclaves. Create a new "x86/" directory inside each "nodeX/" sysfs directory. 'sgx_total_bytes' is expected to be the first of at least a few sgx-specific files to be placed in the new directory. Just scanning /proc/meminfo, these are the no-brainers that we have for RAM, but we need for SGX: MemTotal: xxxx kB // sgx_total_bytes (implemented here) MemFree: yyyy kB // sgx_free_bytes SwapTotal: zzzz kB // sgx_swapped_bytes So, at *least* three. I think we will eventually end up needing something more along the lines of a dozen. A new directory (as opposed to being in the nodeX/ "root") directory avoids cluttering the root with several "sgx_*" files. Place the new file in a new "nodeX/x86/" directory because SGX is highly x86-specific. It is very unlikely that any other architecture (or even non-Intel x86 vendor) will ever implement SGX. Using "sgx/" as opposed to "x86/" was also considered. But, there is a real chance this can get used for other arch-specific purposes. Add documentation for the new attributes:
- "bios_active_image"; "bios_auth_fail"; "bios_upgrade_fail";
"bios_safe_mode" to represent various BIOS statuses.
- "lc{n}_enable" - for put/release the line card to/from enable state.
- "lc{n}_pwr" - for power on/off the line card.
- "lc{n}_rst_mask" - for line card reset state enforced by ASIC, when
it sets it due to some abnormal ASIC behavior.
- "psu3_on"; "psu4_on" - for connection/disconnection power supply unit
to/from the power source.
- "pm_mgmt_en" - for setting power management control ownership. When
power management control is provided by hardware, it means that
hardware will automatically power off one or more line cards in case
system power budget is under power required for feeding all powered
on line cards. It could be a case, when some of power units lost
power good state.
- "shutdown_unlock" - for unlocking system after hardware or firmware
thermal shutdown, which causes locking of the all interfaces to ASIC.

topology: Represent clusters of CPUs within a die
Both ACPI and DT provide the ability to describe additional layers of
topology between that of individual cores and higher level constructs
such as the level at which the last level cache is shared.
In ACPI this can be represented in PPTT as a Processor Hierarchy
Node Structure [1] that is the parent of the CPU cores and in turn
has a parent Processor Hierarchy Nodes Structure representing
a higher level of topology.
For example Kunpeng 920 has 6 or 8 clusters in each NUMA node, and each
cluster has 4 cpus. All clusters share L3 cache data, but each cluster
has local L3 tag. On the other hand, each clusters will share some
internal system bus.

That means spreading tasks among clusters will bring more bandwidth
while packing tasks within one cluster will lead to smaller cache
synchronization latency. So both kernel and userspace will have
a chance to leverage this topology to deploy tasks accordingly to
achieve either smaller cache latency within one cluster or an even
distribution of load among clusters for higher throughput.
This patch exposes cluster topology to both kernel and userspace.
Libraried like hwloc will know cluster by cluster_cpus and related
sysfs attributes. PoC of HWLOC support at [2].
Note this patch only handle the ACPI case.
Special consideration is needed for SMT processors, where it is
necessary to move 2 levels up the hierarchy from the leaf nodes
(thus skipping the processor core level).
Note that arm64 / ACPI does not provide any means of identifying
a die level in the topology but that may be unrelate to the cluster
level.

An "N" upper letter is not a wildcard, nor can easily be identified by script, specially since the USB sysfs define things like. bNumInterfaces. dmanegine: idxd: add software command status
Enabling device and wq returns standard errno and that does not provide enough details to indicate what exactly failed. The hardware command status is only 8bits. Expand the command status to 32bits and use the upper 16 bits to define software errors to provide more details on the exact failure. Bit 31 will be used to indicate the error is software set as the driver is using some of the spec defined hardware error as well. dmaengine: idxd: Add wq occupancy information to sysfs attribute
Add occupancy information to wq sysfs attribute. Attribute will show wq occupancy data if "WQ Occupancy Support" field in WQCAP is 1. It displays the number of entries currently in this WQ. This is provided as an estimate and should not be relied on to determine whether there is space in the WQ. The data is to provide information to user apps for flow control. w1: ds2438: support for writing to offset register
Added a sysfs entry to support writing to the offset register on page1. This register is used to calibrate the chip canceling offset errors in the current ADC. This means that, over time, reading the IAD register will not return the correct current measurement, it will have an offset. Writing to the offset register if the two's complement of the current register while passing zero current to the load will calibrate the measurements. This change was tested on real hardware and it was able to calibrate the chip correctly.
