DW flags address received as BIT(8) in LSR. In order to not lose that
on read, enlarge lsr_saved_flags to u16.
Adjust lsr/status variables and related call chains to use u16.
Technically, some of these type conversion would not be needed but it
doesn't hurt to be consistent.

Commit b67e830d38 ("serial: 8250: 8250_omap: Fix possible interrupt

RX_LVL, however, we should be using word offset than byte offset
since our registers are on 4 byte boundary (port.regshift = 2) for

Handle optional overrun-throttle-ms property as done for 8250_fsl in commit
6d7f677a2a ("serial: 8250: Rate limit serial port rx interrupts during
input overruns"). This can be used to rate limit the UART interrupts on
noisy lines that end up producing messages like the following:
ttyS ttyS2: 4 input overrun(s)
At least on droid4, the multiplexed USB and UART port is left to UART mode
by the bootloader for a debug console, and if a USB charger is connected
on boot, we get noise on the UART until the PMIC related drivers for PHY
and charger are loaded.
With this patch and overrun-throttle-ms = <500> we avoid the extra rx
interrupts.

On K3 family of SoCs (which includes AM654 SoC), it is observed that RX
TIMEOUT is signalled after RX FIFO has been drained, in which case a
dummy read of RX FIFO is required to clear RX TIMEOUT condition.
Otherwise, this would lead to an interrupt storm.
Fix this by introducing UART_RX_TIMEOUT_QUIRK flag and doing a dummy
read in IRQ handler when RX TIMEOUT is reported with no data in RX FIFO.

The uart_unlock_and_check_sysrq() helper can be used to defer processing
of sysrq until the interrupt handler has released the port lock and is
about to return.
Since commit 81e2073c17 ("genirq: Disable interrupts for force
threaded handlers") interrupt handlers that are not explicitly requested
as threaded are always called with interrupts disabled and there is no
need to save the interrupt state when taking the port lock.
Instead of adding another sysrq helper for when the interrupt state has
not needlessly been saved, drop the state parameter from
uart_unlock_and_check_sysrq() and update its callers to no longer
explicitly disable interrupts in their interrupt handlers.

It has been observed that once per 300-1300 port openings the first
transmitted byte is being corrupted on AM3352 ("v" written to FIFO appeared
as "e" on the wire). It only happened if single byte has been transmitted
right after port open, which means, DMA is not used for this transfer and
the corruption never happened afterwards.
Therefore I've carefully re-read the MDR1 errata (link below), which says
"when accessing the MDR1 registers that causes a dummy under-run condition
that will freeze the UART in IrDA transmission. In UART mode, this may
corrupt the transferred data". Strictly speaking,
omap_8250_mdr1_errataset() performs a read access and if the value is the
same as should be written, exits without errata-recommended FIFO reset.
A brief check of the serial_omap_mdr1_errataset() from the competing
omap-serial driver showed it has no read access of MDR1. After removing the
read access from omap_8250_mdr1_errataset() the data corruption never
happened any more.

UARTs on TI SoCs prior to J7200 don't provide independent control over
RX FIFO not empty interrupt (RHR_IT) and RX timeout interrupt.
Starting with J7200 SoC, its possible to disable RHR_IT independent of
RX timeout interrupt using bit 2 of IER2 register. So disable RHR_IT
once RX DMA is started so as to avoid spurious interrupt being raised
when data is in the RX FIFO but is yet to be drained by DMA (a known
errata in older SoCs).

UART on K3 SoCs has configurable RX timeout behavior (controlled via
EFR2) and better DMA integration. This allows to transfer as larger
amount data per DMA transfer compared to older SoCs. Add support for
the same.

As per Advisory 27 of AM437x Silicon errata document, Spurious UART
interrupts may occur when DMA mode (FCR.DMA_MODE) is enabled. The
Interrupt Controller flags that a UART interrupt has occurred; however,
the associated IT_PENDING bit remains set to 1, indicating that no
interrupt is pending. Acknowledge the spurious interrupts for every
occurrence as workaround.
Errata is applicable to all TI SoCs with this IP.

Although same 8250 compliant UART IP is reused across different SoC,
their integration wrt DMA varies greatly across SoCs. Therefore,
different SoC may need to use different FIFO trigger level for DMA
event and DMA configuration parameters. Provide a way to pass this
information via driver data. This is required to support UART DMA on
AM654/J721e SoCs.

Terminate and flush DMA internal buffers, before pushing RX data to
higher layer. Otherwise, this will lead to data corruption, as driver
would end up pushing stale buffer data to higher layer while actual data
is still stuck inside DMA hardware and has yet not arrived at the
memory.
While at that, replace deprecated dmaengine_terminate_all() with
dmaengine_terminate_async().

Commit e490c9144c ("tty: Add software emulated RS485 support for 8250")
introduced support to use RTS as an rs485 Transmit Enable signal.
So far the only drivers taking advantage of it are 8250_omap.c and
8250_of.c.
We're about to make use of the feature in 8250_bcm2835aux.c as well.
The bcm2835aux differs from omap chips by inverting the meaning of RTS
in the MCR register. Moreover, omap achieves half-duplex mode by
disabling the RX interrupt and clearing the RX FIFO when TX stops.
The bcm2835aux requires disabling the receiver instead.
Support these behavioral differences by generalizing the rs485 emulation:
Introduce ->rs485_start_tx() and ->rs485_stop_tx() callbacks in struct
uart_8250_port, provide generic implementations containing the existing
code and use them as callbacks in 8250_omap.c and 8250_of.c.
start_tx_rs485() is idempotent in that it recognizes whether RTS is
already asserted. Achieve the same by introducing a tx_stopped flag in
struct uart_8250_em485. This may even perform a little better on arches
where memory access is faster than mmio access.

Commit e490c9144c ("tty: Add software emulated RS485 support for 8250")
introduced support to use RTS as an rs485 Transmit Enable signal.
Drivers opt in to the feature by calling serial8250_em485_init() from
their ->rs485_config() callback.
So far there are two drivers doing that, 8250_omap.c and 8250_of.c.
Both use an identical callback. We're about to add a third user of that
callback, therefore deduplicate it and move it to 8250_port.c.
Drivers now opt in to rs485 software emulation by assigning the generic
serial8250_rs485_config() callback introduced herein to their
.rs485_config struct member. This change allows unexporting
serial8250_em485_init() and declaring it static.

First, rename PM_QOS_CPU_DMA_LAT_DEFAULT_VALUE to
PM_QOS_CPU_LATENCY_DEFAULT_VALUE and update all of the code
referring to it accordingly.
Next, rename cpu_dma_constraints to cpu_latency_constraints, move
the definition of it closer to the functions referring to it and
update all of them accordingly. [While at it, add a comment to mark
the start of the code related to the CPU latency QoS.]
Finally, rename the pm_qos_power_*() family of functions and

The SUPPORT_SYSRQ ifdeffery is not nice as:
- May create misunderstanding about sizeof(struct uart_port) between
different objects
- Prevents moving functions from serial_core.h
- Reduces readability (well, it's ifdeffery - it's hard to follow)
In order to remove SUPPORT_SYSRQ, has_sysrq variable has been added.
Initialise it in driver's probe and remove ifdeffery.

There are two checks to see if the manual gpio is configured, but
these the check is seeing if the structure is NULL instead it
should check to see if there are CTS and/or RTS pins defined.
This patch uses checks for those individual pins instead of
checking for the structure itself to restore auto RTS/CTS.

For many years omap variants have been setting the runtime PM
autosuspend delay to -1 to prevent unsafe policy with lossy first
character on wake-up. The user must specifically enable the timeout
for UARTs if desired.
We must not enable the workaround for serdev devices though. It leads
into UARTs not idling if no serdev devices are loaded and there is no
sysfs entry to configure the UART in that case. And this means that
my PM may not work unless the serdev modules are loaded.
We can detect a serdev device being configured based on a dts child
node, and we can simply skip the workround in that case. And the
serdev driver can idle the port during runtime when suitable if an
out-of-band wake-up GPIO line exists for example.
Let's also add some comments to the workaround while at it.

the CTS/RTS/DTR/DSR/DCD/RI signals.

8250_omap driver uses clock-frequency DT property to obtain functional
clk frequency. This is not ideal as users need to calculate functional
clk frequency offline and populate it in DT.
Therefore add support to obtain functional clock frequency using clk
APIs when clock-frequency DT property is not defined.

AM654 uses a UART controller that is compatible (partially) with
existing 8250 UART, however, has a few differences with respect to DMA
support and control paths. Introduce a base definition that allows us
to build up the differences in follow on patches.

I noticed that unused UARTs won't necessarily idle properly always
unless at least one byte tx transfer is done first.
After some debugging I narrowed down the problem to the scr register
dma configuration bits that need to be set before softreset for the
clocks to idle. Unless we do this, the module clkctrl idlest bits
may be set to 1 instead of 3 meaning the clock will never idle and
is blocking deeper idle states for the whole domain.
This might be related to the configuration done by the bootloader
or kexec booting where certain configurations cause the 8250 or
the clkctrl clock to jam in a way where setting of the scr bits
and reset is needed to clear it. I've tried diffing the 8250
registers for the various modes, but did not see anything specific.
So far I've only seen this on omap4 but I'm suspecting this might
also happen on the other clkctrl using SoCs considering they
already have a quirk enabled for UART_ERRATA_CLOCK_DISABLE.
Let's fix the issue by configuring scr before reset for basic dma
even if we don't use it. The scr register will be reset when we do
softreset few lines after, and we restore scr on resume. We should
do this for all the SoCs with UART_ERRATA_CLOCK_DISABLE quirk flag
set since the ones with UART_ERRATA_CLOCK_DISABLE are all based
using clkctrl similar to omap4.
Looks like both OMAP_UART_SCR_DMAMODE_1 | OMAP_UART_SCR_DMAMODE_CTL
bits are needed for the clkctrl to idle after a softreset.
And we need to add omap4 to also use the UART_ERRATA_CLOCK_DISABLE
for the related workaround to be enabled. This same compatible
value will also be used for omap5.

Enable/Clear module level UART wakeup in UART_OMAP_WER register based on
return value of device_may_wakeup() in .suspend(). This allows
userspace to use sysfs to control the ability of UART to wakeup the
system from deep sleep state. Register is restored back in .startup()
call that happens as part of resume sequence.
With this patch, userspace can control UART wakeup capability via sysfs:
To enable wakeup capability:
echo enabled > /sys/class/tty/ttyXX/device/power/wakeup
For disabling wakeup capability:
echo disabled > /sys/class/tty/ttyXX/device/power/wakeup
Note that the UART wakeup events configured in the 8250 hardware only
work for idle modes that do not cut off power for the UART. For deeper
idle states, dedicated padconf wakeirqs must be used. Or in some cases
the UART RX pin can be remuxed to GPIO input if the GPIO block stays
powered.

omap_8250_throttle() is called when tty RX buffer is about to overflow
and can no longer keep up with the rate at which UART is receiving data.
So, the expectation of this callback, is that UART stops RX and asserts
HW flow control to signal the sender to stop sending more data.
omap_8250_throttle() disables RX FIFO interrupts thus FIFO is no longer
serviced, leading to assertion of flow control once RX FIFO is full.
But, this does not work when DMA is enabled as driver keeps queuing new
RX DMA request in completion handler without brothering about throttling
request made by the higher layer.
This patch introduces a flag that can be used to determine whether or
not to queue next RX DMA request based on throttling request.
Without this patch, tty buffer overflows are reported at higher
baudrates.

It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to
audit the kernel tree for correct licenses.
Update the drivers/tty files files with the correct SPDX license
identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX
identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of
the full boiler plate text.

DMA RX completion handler for UART is called from a tasklet and hence
may be delayed depending on the system load. In meanwhile, there may be
RX timeout interrupt which can get serviced first before DMA RX
completion handler is executed for the completed transfer.
omap_8250_rx_dma_flush() which is called on RX timeout interrupt makes
sure that the DMA RX buffer is pushed and then the FIFO is drained and
also queues a new DMA request. But, when DMA RX completion handler
executes, it will erroneously flush the currently queued DMA transfer
which sometimes results in data corruption and double queueing of DMA RX
requests.
Fix this by checking whether RX completion is for the currently queued
transfer or not. And also hold port lock when in DMA completion to avoid
race wrt RX timeout handler preempting it.

Kernel always writes log messages to console via
serial8250_console_write()->serial8250_console_putchar() which directly
accesses UART_TX register _without_ using DMA.
But, if other processes like systemd using same UART port, then these
writes are handled by a different code flow using 8250_omap driver where
there is provision to use DMA.
It seems that it is possible that both DMA and CPU might simultaneously
put data to UART FIFO and lead to potential loss of data due to FIFO
overflow and weird data corruption. This happens when both kernel
console and userspace tries to write simultaneously to the same UART
port. Therefore, disable DMA on kernel console port to avoid potential
race between CPU and DMA.

produce these errors on a failed probe:

Note that we now also need to check for priv in omap8250_runtime_suspend()
as it has not yet been registered if probe fails. And we need to use
pm_runtime_put_sync() to properly idle the device like we already do
in omap8250_remove().

8250 UART DMA support was marked broken by default as it was not
possible to pause ongoing RX DMA transfer. Now that both SDMA and
EDMA can support pause operation for RX DMA transactions, don't set
rx_dma_broken to true by default. With this patch 8250_omap driver will
use DMA by default.

UART uses as EDMA as dma engine on AM437x SoC and therefore, requires
OMAP_DMA_TX_KICK quirk just like AM33xx. So, enable OMAP_DMA_TX_KICK
quirk for AM437x platform as well. While at that, drop use of
of_machine_is_compatible() and instead pass quirks via device data.

It is possible that DMA transfer is already complete but, completion
handler is yet to be called, when dmaengine_pause() is called in case of
error condition(like break/rx timeout). This leads to dmaengine_pause()
API to return EINVAL (as descriptor is already NULL) causing
rx_dma_broken flag to be set and effectively disabling RX DMA.
Fix this by calling dmaengine_pause() only when transfer is in progress.

Serial console is broken in v4.8-rcX. Mika and I independently bisected down to
commit 4ef03d3287 ("tty/serial/8250: use mctrl_gpio helpers").
Since neither author nor anyone else didn't propose a solution we better revert
it for now.
