Here is the big USB and phy driver patch set for 4.19-rc1.
Nothing huge but there was a lot of work that happened this development
cycle:
- lots of type-c work, with drivers graduating out of staging,
and displayport support being added.
- new PHY drivers
- the normal collection of gadget driver updates and fixes
- code churn to work on the urb handling path, using irqsave()
everywhere in anticipation of making this codepath a lot
simpler in the future.
- usbserial driver fixes and reworks
- other misc changes
Full details are in the shortlog.
All of these have been in linux-next with no reported issues for a
while.

'interrupt-parent' is often documented as part of define bindings, but
it is really outside the scope of a device binding. It's never required
in a given node as it is often inherited from a parent node. Or it can
be implicit if a parent node is an 'interrupt-controller' node. So
remove it from all the binding files.

usb: changes for v4.18 merge window
A total of 98 non-merge commits, the biggest part being in dwc3 this
time around with a large refactoring of dwc3's transfer handling code.
We also have a new driver for Aspeed virtual hub controller.
Apart from that, just a list of miscellaneous fixes all over the place.
Historically, the clocks and resets are handled on the glue layer
side instead of the DWC3 core. For simple cases, dwc3-of-simple.c
takes care of arbitrary number of clocks and resets. The DT node
structure typically looks like as follows:
dwc3-glue {
compatible = "foo,dwc3";
clocks = ...;
resets = ...;
...
dwc3 {
compatible = "snps,dwc3";
...
};
}
By supporting the clocks and the reset in the dwc3/core.c, it will
be turned into a single node:
dwc3 {
compatible = "foo,dwc3", "snps,dwc3";
clocks = ...;
resets = ...;
...
}
This commit adds the binding of clocks and resets specific to this IP.
The number of clocks should generally be the same across SoCs, it is
just some SoCs either tie clocks together or do not provide software
control of some of the clocks.
I took the clock names from the Synopsys datasheet: "ref" (ref_clk),
"bus_early" (bus_clk_early), and "suspend" (suspend_clk).
I found only one reset line in the datasheet, hence the reset-names
property is omitted.
Those clocks are required for new platforms. Enforcing the new
binding breaks existing platforms since they specify clocks (and
resets) in their glue layer node, but nothing in the core node.
I listed such exceptional cases in the DT binding. The driver
code has been relaxed to accept no clock. This change is based
on the discussion [1].
I inserted reset_control_deassert() and clk_bulk_enable() before the
first register access, i.e. dwc3_cache_hwparams().

On Armada 7K/8K we need to explicitly enable the register clock. This
clock is optional because not all the SoCs using this IP need it but at
least for Armada 7K/8K it is actually mandatory.
The change was done at xhci-plat level and not at a xhci-mvebu.c because,
it is expected that other SoC would have this kind of constraint.
The binding documentation is updating accordingly.

Some platforms (e.g. TI's DRA7 USB2 instance) have more trouble
with the metastability workaround as it supports only
a High-Speed PHY and the PHY can enter into an Erratic state [1]
when the controller is set in SuperSpeed mode as part of
the metastability workaround.
This causes upto 2 seconds delay in enumeration on DRA7's USB2

ARM SoC fixes for this merge window:
- A revert of all SCPI changes from the 4.15 merge window. They had
regressions on the Amlogic platforms, and the submaintainer isn't
around to fix these bugs due to vacation, etc. So we agreed to revert
and revisit in next release cycle.
- A series fixing a number of bugs for ARM CCN interconnect, around
module unload, smp_processor_id() in preemptable context, and fixing
some memory allocation failure checks.
- A handful of devicetree fixes for different platforms, fixing
warnings and errors that were previously ignored by the compiler.
- The usual set of mostly minor fixes for different platforms.

The xHCI driver currently has the IMOD set to 160, which
translates to an IMOD interval of 40,000ns (160 * 250)ns
Commit 0cbd4b34cd ("xhci: mediatek: support MTK xHCI host controller")
introduced a QUIRK for the MTK platform to adjust this interval to 20,
which translates to an IMOD interval of 5,000ns (20 * 250)ns. This is
due to the fact that the MTK controller IMOD interval is 8 times
as much as defined in xHCI spec.
Instead of adding more quirk bits for additional platforms, this patch
introduces the ability for vendors to set the IMOD_INTERVAL as is
optimal for their platform. By using device_property_read_u32() on
"imod-interval-ns", the IMOD INTERVAL can be specified in nano seconds.
If no interval is specified, the default of 40,000ns (IMOD=160) will be
used.
No bounds checking has been implemented due to the fact that a vendor
may have violated the spec and would need to specify a value outside of
the max 8,000 IRQs/second limit specified in the xHCI spec.

Add a new binding for USB interface nodes, which are child nodes of
USB device nodes and addressed by interface number and configuration
value tuples.
Also add a new binding for USB combined nodes, which are special case
nodes for simple USB devices for which they replace the device and
interface nodes.
For completeness, define the already used terms "host-controller node",
"device node" and "hub node".

The USB hub port-number range for USB 2.0 is 1-255 and not 1-31 which
reflects an arbitrary limit set by the current Linux implementation.
Note that for USB 3.1 hubs the valid range is 1-15.
Increase the documented valid range in the binding to 255, which is the
maximum allowed by the specifications.

Consumers of usb-nop-xceiv use the phy binding, but #phy-cells is missing
from the binding. This is probably because this binding predates the
common phy binding. So add #phy-cells as a required property. This should
not break any users as missing should be treated as 0 cells.

Since hub usb2517 is going to be supported by the usb251xb driver,
the bindings need to be properly updated. Particularly:
- add "microchip,usb2517" and "microchip,usb2517i" compatible strings.
- add "boolean" description to all the properties, which really accept
a boolean value including a new one "led-{usb,speed}-mode".
- move reset-gpios property to the optional section. It isn't
defined as required in the code and shouldn't be required at all, since
hardware may handle reset pins by itself.
- add new led-{usb,speed}-mode mode property. USB2517 device supports
two LED modes: USB mode and speed (default) indication mode. The last one
can be switched on by this property.
- add {bp,sp}-max-{total,removable}-current-microamp property measured in
microamp. It hasn't been defined as property before. Since the limitation
specified by these parameters is hardware specific it needs to be defined
in dts.
