Changes to chrome-platform for v4.17
Incorporates a series from Dmitry to remove platform data from chromeos_laptop.c, which was the only user of platform data for the atmel_mxt_ts driver. Includes a series to clean up sysfs and debugfs for cros_ec. Other misc. cleanups. Thanks, Benson -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAABCgAdFiEE6gYDF28Li+nEiKLaHwn1ewov5lgFAlrP2NkACgkQHwn1ewov 5lhd7RAAgueLytizaj9QlWgiq5mqN6OJ9z+QoipmCQlB2oqSAJZhWJ17BT91t+dW 0V/xaV0qJ6k8ttcC2UiDAiyFrLk9T/7tYjcvqsNQPz4zMqRcKO73m92+hBcIWIFV X0DUyNvck1sE0lKgmvuKo+m8Rhtrf13gkYVeYp3RV21PiEaUmhn8hr88L83arnPu SHsk/PUS4cQo/Pwfgxc7Zh6jXDMByCw3oIBdmxbbNtZOnWBatmO2N20rn2yQC77d I/+n6zHgkTpZ2TpjtzYRxb9iW2NdgDwEDaJt/r57Nk+z0XEgYfvS8U+R/vYC4Lb8 C6sIgAGP5gCv9wh9UJOC1+XlZRGeKHSLZkQRHqESV7K38aOLX7lQopwGR5USYimY KtUIknRJSZD/jiGyH8NW94u6RlxeoqLWP7GKERm8gGhOkTAqjvFfD5uBLZbEl9Ub Bk9HPIZ/Nq1mg0srGQjSuhgRFoub1MWriD6xthy9PfV0i72pxtRfIZuvhieCBvQ/ Bi3HW05uMfXasuGOjsDJbCbTiKmISMtBC7B1XXE0ioUcZE2bnFyYBmL92E+Vck6q mxFmmdwHmbDrShaEmzWTnXRCA/06QABxWZK0S2IZWu/qy8+UP4OwxFFNvC+6vKNN utUBvmCYjt46CZ0q6JD9eeQ8E7lf0HMJh4DMManrB2fa7BAhLQQ= =mDkk -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'chrome-platform-for-linus-4.17' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/bleung/chrome-platform Pull chrome platform updates from Benson Leung: - a series from Dmitry to remove platform data from chromeos_laptop.c, which was the only user of platform data for the atmel_mxt_ts driver. - a series to clean up sysfs and debugfs for cros_ec - other misc cleanups * tag 'chrome-platform-for-linus-4.17' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/bleung/chrome-platform: (22 commits) platform/chrome: mfd/cros_ec_dev: Add sysfs entry to set keyboard wake lid angle platform/chrome: cros_ec_debugfs: Add PD port info to debugfs platform/chrome: cros_ec_debugfs: Use octal permissions '0444' platform/chrome: cros_ec_sysfs: use permission-specific DEVICE_ATTR variants platform/chrome: cros_ec_sysfs: introduce to_cros_ec_dev define. platform/chrome: cros_ec_sysfs: Modify error handling platform/chrome: cros_ec_lpc: Add support for Google devices using custom coreboot firmware platform/chrome: cros_ec_lpc: wake up from s2idle on Chrome EC Input: atmel_mxt_ts - remove platform data support platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - discard data for unneeded boards platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - use device properties for Pixel platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - rely on I2C to set up interrupt trigger platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - use I2C notifier to create devices platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - parse DMI IRQ data once platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - rework i2c peripherals initialization platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - factor out getting IRQ from DMI platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - introduce pr_fmt() platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - stop setting suspend mode for Atmel devices platform/chrome: chromeos_laptop - add SPDX identifier Input: atmel_mxt_ts - switch ChromeOS ACPI devices to generic props ... |

platform/chrome: mfd/cros_ec_dev: Add sysfs entry to set keyboard wake lid angle
This adds a sysfs attribute (/sys/class/chromeos/cros_ec/kb_wake_angle) used to set and get the keyboard wake lid angle. This attribute is present only if 2 accelerometers are controlled by the EC. This patch also moves the cros_ec features check before the device is added so the features map obtained from the EC is ready on time. Staging/IIO patches for 4.17-rc1
Here is the big set of Staging/IIO driver patches for 4.17-rc1. It is a lot, over 500 changes, but not huge by previous kernel release standards. We deleted more lines than we added again (27k added vs. 91k remvoed), thanks to finally being able to delete the IRDA drivers and networking code. We also deleted the ccree crypto driver, but that's coming back in through the crypto tree to you, in a much cleaned-up form. Added this round is at lot of "mt7621" device support, which is for an embedded device that Neil Brown cares about, and of course a handful of new IIO drivers as well. And finally, the fsl-mc core code moved out of the staging tree to the "real" part of the kernel, which is nice to see happen as well. Full details are in the shortlog, which has all of the tiny cleanup patches described. All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported issues. First round of new devices, features and cleanups for IIO in the 4.17 cycle.
Outside of IIO
* Strongly typed 64bit int_sqrt function needed by the mlx90632
New device support
* adc081s
- New driver supporting adc081s, adc101s and adc121s TI ADCs.
* ad5272
- New driver supproting the ad5272 and ad5274 ADI digital potentiometers
with DT bindings.
* axp20x_adc
- support the AXP813 ADC - includes rework patches to prepare for this.
* mlx90632
- New driver with dt bindings for this IR temperature sensor.
Features
* axp20x_adc
- Add DT bindings and probing.
* dht11
- The sensor has a wider range than advertised in the datasheet - support it.
* st_lsm6dsx
- Add hardware timestamp su9pport.
Cleanups
* ABI docs
- Update email contact for Matt Ranostay
* SPDX changes
- Matt Ranostay has moved his drivers over to SPDX. Currently we are making
this an author choice in IIO.
* ad7192
- Disable burnout current on misconfiguration. No actually effect as
they simply won't work otherwise.
* ad7476
- Drop a license definition that was replicating information in SPDX tag.
* ade7758
- Expand buf_lock to cover both buffer and state protection allowing
unintented uses of mlock in the core to be removed.
* ade7759
- Align parameters to opening parenthesis.
* at91_adc
- Depend on sysfs instead of selecting it - for try wide consistency.
* ccs811
- trivial naming type for a define.
* ep93xx
- Drop a redundant return as a result checking platform_get_resource.
* hts221
- Regmap conversion which simplifies the driver somewhat.
- Clean up some restricted endian cast warnings.
- Drop a trailing whitespace from a comment
- Drop an unnecessary get_unaligned by changing to the right 16bit data type.
* ms5611
- Fix coding style in the probe function (whitespace)
* st_accel
- Use strlcpy instead of strncpy to avoid potentially truncating a string.

- The sensor has a wider range than advertised in the datasheet - support it.
* st_lsm6dsx
- Add hardware timestamp su9pport.
Cleanups
* ABI docs
- Update email contact for Matt Ranostay
* SPDX changes
- Matt Ranostay has moved his drivers over to SPDX. Currently we are making
this an author choice in IIO.
* ad7192
- Disable burnout current on misconfiguration. No actually effect as
they simply won't work otherwise.
* ad7476
- Drop a license definition that was replicating information in SPDX tag.
* ade7758
- Expand buf_lock to cover both buffer and state protection allowing
unintented uses of mlock in the core to be removed.
* ade7759
- Align parameters to opening parenthesis.
* at91_adc
- Depend on sysfs instead of selecting it - for try wide consistency.
* ccs811
- trivial naming type for a define.
* ep93xx
- Drop a redundant return as a result checking platform_get_resource.
* hts221
- Regmap conversion which simplifies the driver somewhat.
- Clean up some restricted endian cast warnings.
- Drop a trailing whitespace from a comment
- Drop an unnecessary get_unaligned by changing to the right 16bit data type.
* ms5611
- Fix coding style in the probe function (whitespace)
* st_accel
- Use strlcpy instead of strncpy to avoid potentially truncating a string.

regulator: da9055: Pass descriptor instead of GPIO number
When setting up a fixed regulator on the DA9055, pass a descriptor instead of a global GPIO number. iio: adc: axp20x_adc: add support for AXP813 ADC
The X-Powers AXP813 PMIC is really close to what is already done for AXP20X/AXP22X. There are two pairs of bits to set the rate (one for Voltage and Current measurements and one for TS/GPIO0 voltage measurements) instead of one. The register to set the ADC rates is different from the one for AXP20X/AXP22X. GPIO0 can be used as an ADC (measuring Volts) unlike for AXP22X. The scales to apply to the different inputs are unlike the ones from AXP20X and AXP22X. sound updates for 4.15-rc1
There are no big surprising changes in this cycle, yet not too
boring, either. The biggest change from diffstat POV is the removal
of the legacy OSS driver codes that have been already disabled for a
long time. This will bring a few trivial merge conflicts.
As new features in ASoC side, there are two things: a new AC97 bus
implementation and AMD Stony platform support. Both include the
relevant changes shared with other subsystems, e.g. AC97 MFD changes
and DRM AMD changes.
Some other highlighted topics are:
- A bunch of USB-audio drivers got the hardening against the malicious
device accesses with a new helper code for endpoint sanity check.
- Lots of cleanups for ASoC Intel platform code, including support for
their open source audio firmware.
- Continued ASoC core componentization works.
- Support for scaling MCLK with sample rate in ASoC simple-card.
- Stabler PCM hot-unplug capability, especially for ASoC usages.

USB/PHY patches for 4.15-rc1
Here is the big set of USB and PHY driver updates for 4.15-rc1. There is the usual amount of gadget and xhci driver updates, along with phy and chipidea enhancements. There's also a lot of SPDX tags and license boilerplate cleanups as well, which provide some churn in the diffstat. Other major thing is the typec code that moved out of staging and into the "real" part of the drivers/usb/ tree, which was nice to see happen. License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license. By default all files without license information are under the default license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2. Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0' SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and Philippe Ombredanne. How this work was done: Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of the use cases: - file had no licensing information it it. - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it, - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information, Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords. The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files. The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s) to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was: - Files considered eligible had to be source code files. - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5 lines of source - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5 lines). All documentation files were explicitly excluded. The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license identifiers to apply. - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was considered to have no license information in it, and the top level COPYING file license applied. For non */uapi/* files that summary was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 11139 and resulted in the first patch in this series. If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------- GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930 and resulted in the second patch in this series. - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in it (per prior point). Results summary: SPDX license identifier # files ---------------------------------------------------|------ GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270 GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17 LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15 GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14 ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5 LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4 LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3 ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1 and that resulted in the third patch in this series. - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became the concluded license(s). - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a license but the other didn't, or they both detected different licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred. - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics). - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier, the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later in time. In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation. Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so they are related. Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks in about 15000 files. In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the correct identifier. Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch version early this week with: - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected license ids and scores - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+ files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the different types of files to be modified. These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to generate the patches. extcon: max77843: Add OTG power control to the MUIC driver
Enabling power on VBUS micro-usb pin is required only when passive OTG cable is connected. Initially OTG VBUS power control was planned to be done in charger driver. However such information is not really available from the extcon notifications, so VBUS power control has to be done directly in MUIC driver, which has all information about the attached accessory. For example SmartDock is externally powered accessory, provides OTG (USB HOST) functionality and use VBUS pin for charging a device battery, so the VBUS charging pump should be disabled in such case. extcon: Split out extcon header file for consumer and provider device
The extcon has two type of extcon devices as following.
- 'extcon provider deivce' adds new extcon device and detect the
state/properties of external connector. Also, it notifies the
state/properties to the extcon consumer device.
- 'extcon consumer device' gets the change state/properties
from extcon provider device.
Prior to that, include/linux/extcon.h contains all exported API for
both provider and consumer device driver. To clarify the meaning of
header file and to remove the wrong use-case on consumer device,
this patch separates into extcon.h and extcon-provider.h.
[Description for include/linux/{extcon.h|extcon-provider.h}]
- extcon.h includes the extcon API and data structure for extcon consumer
device driver. This header file contains the following APIs:
: Register/unregister the notifier to catch the change of extcon device
: Get the extcon device instance
: Get the extcon device name
: Get the state of each external connector
: Get the property value of each external connector
: Get the property capability of each external connector
- extcon-provider.h includes the extcon API and data structure for extcon
provider device driver. This header file contains the following APIs:
: Include 'include/linux/extcon.h'
: Allocate the memory for extcon device instance
: Register/unregister extcon device
: Set the state of each external connector
: Set the property value of each external connector
: Set the property capability of each external connector

regulator: axp20x: Add support for AXP813 regulators
The AXP813 PMIC has 7 DC-DC buck regulators, 16 LDOs (including the
fixed RTC LDO and 2 GPIO LDOs), and 1 switchable. The drive-vbus
feature is also supported. All the hardware details are very similar
to the AXP803, with the following exceptions:
- Extra DCDC7 buck regulator, with the same range as DCDC6
- SWitch now has a separate supply pin, instead of being chained
internaly from DCDC1
- RTC LDO output voltage is now 1.8V
- FLDO3 is an LDO with switchable supplies, but unconfigurable output
voltage. The voltage is always half that of its supply.
Support for FLDO3 is currently unimplemented, as it requires runtime
switching of its supplies, something the regulator subsystem does not
support. It is not used in either the reference designs nor actually
produced boards available.

Char/Misc drivers for 4.14-rc1
Here is the big char/misc driver update for 4.14-rc1.
Lots of different stuff in here, it's been an active development cycle
for some reason. Highlights are:
- updated binder driver, this brings binder up to date with what
shipped in the Android O release, plus some more changes that
happened since then that are in the Android development trees.
- coresight updates and fixes
- mux driver file renames to be a bit "nicer"
- intel_th driver updates
- normal set of hyper-v updates and changes
- small fpga subsystem and driver updates
- lots of const code changes all over the driver trees
- extcon driver updates
- fmc driver subsystem upadates
- w1 subsystem minor reworks and new features and drivers added
- spmi driver updates
Plus a smattering of other minor driver updates and fixes.
All of these have been in linux-next with no reported issues for a
while.
