6d7a87f2d3 media: i2c: imx290: Fix max gain value
The gain is expressed in multiple of 0.3dB, as a value between 0.0dB

only, higher gains from 30.3dB to 72dB apply additional digital gain.

cover the whole analog gain range. Support for digital gain can be added

The IMX327 and IMX462 are largely compatible with the IMX290, but have

Error handling for register writes requires checking the error status of
every single write. This makes the code complex, or incorrect when the
checks are omitted. Simplify this by passing a pointer to an error code
to the imx290_write_reg() function, which allows writing multiple
registers in a row and only checking for errors at the end.

While at it, rename imx290_write_reg() to imx290_write() as there's

ed5c2f5fd1 i2c: Make remove callback return void
The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored.
(Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the
error is ignored.)

So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This
way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to
the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly.
There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to
return 0 before.

668c3c237f sound updates for 6.0-rc1
As diffstat shows, we've had lots of developments in a wide range
 at this time; the majority of changes are about ASoC, including
 subsystem-wide cleanups, continued SOF / Intel updates and a
 bunch of new drivers (as usual), while there have been some
 significant (but almost invisible) improvements in ALSA core
 side, too. Below are some highlights:

 Core:
 - Faster lookups of control elements with Xarray; normal user
   won't notice, but on the devices with tons of control elements,
   it can be visibly faster
 - Support for input validation for controls; this will harden
   for badly written drivers in general with a slight overhead
 - Deferred async signal handling for working around the potential
   deadlocks
 - Cleanup / refactoring raw MIDI locking code

 ASoC:
 - Restructing of the set_fmt() callbacks for making things clearer
   in situations like CODEC to CODEC links
 - Clean up and modernizing the DAI naming scheme setups
 - Merge of more of the Intel AVS driver stack, including some
   board integrations
 - New version 4 mechanism for communication with SOF DSPs
 - Suppoort for dynamically selecting the PLL to use at runtime on
   i.MX platforms
 - Improvements for CODEC to CODEC support in the generic cards
 - Support for AMD Jadeite and various machines, AMD RPL, Intel
   MetorLake DSPs, Mediatek MT8186 DSPs and MT6366, nVidia Tegra
   MDDRC, OPE and PEQ, NXP TFA9890, Qualcomm SDM845, WCD9335 and
   WAS883x, and Texas Instruments TAS2780

 HD- and USB-audio:
 - Continued improvement for CS35L41 (sub)codec support
 - More quirks for various devices (HP, Lenovo, Dell, Clevo)

b6ae502297 media: ov5640: Remove frame rate check from find_mode()
The current implementation of ov5640_find_mode() fails if the
frame rate programmed with s_frame_interval doesn't match the
maximum frame rate for the current mode.

This causes issues when moving from one mode with higher FPS to another
one which only supports a lower FPS range with tools like media-ctl.

It also forces users that do not use s_frame_interval(), but rather
configure blankings explicitly, to adjust the programmed FPS range to
avoid failures.

For this reason, remove the FPS check from ov5640_find_mode() and only
perform it at s_frame_interval() time.

bb25f071fc media: i2c: imx412: Fix reset GPIO polarity
The imx412/imx577 sensor has a reset line that is active low not active
high. Currently the logic for this is inverted.

The right way to define the reset line is to declare it active low in the
DTS and invert the logic currently contained in the driver.

The DTS should represent the hardware does i.e. reset is active low.
So:
+               reset-gpios = <&tlmm 78 GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW>;
not:
-               reset-gpios = <&tlmm 78 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>;

I was a bit reticent about changing this logic since I thought it might
negatively impact @intel.com users. Googling a bit though I believe this
sensor is used on "Keem Bay" which is clearly a DTS based system and is not
upstream yet.

The Oops happens because the I2C client data does not point to

max9286_init() which calls v4l2_i2c_subdev_init() later on...

Besides fixing the max9286_remove() function, remove the call to
i2c_set_clientdata() in max9286_probe(), to avoid confusion, and make
the necessary changes to max9286_init() so that it doesn't have to use

9958d30f38 media: Kconfig: cleanup VIDEO_DEV dependencies
media Kconfig has two entries associated to V4L API:
VIDEO_DEV and VIDEO_V4L2.

On Kernel 2.6.x, there were two V4L APIs, each one with its own flag.
VIDEO_DEV were meant to:
	1) enable Video4Linux and make its Kconfig options to appear;
	2) it makes the Kernel build the V4L core.

while VIDEO_V4L2 where used to distinguish between drivers that
implement the newer API and drivers that implemented the former one.

With time, such meaning changed, specially after the removal of
all V4L version 1 drivers.

At the current implementation, VIDEO_DEV only does (1): it enables
the media options related to V4L, that now has:

	menu "Video4Linux options"
		visible if VIDEO_DEV

	source "drivers/media/v4l2-core/Kconfig"
	endmenu

but it doesn't affect anymore the V4L core drivers.

The rationale is that the V4L2 core has a "soft" dependency
at the I2C bus, and now requires to select a number of other
Kconfig options:

	config VIDEO_V4L2
		tristate
		depends on (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV
		select RATIONAL
		select VIDEOBUF2_V4L2 if VIDEOBUF2_CORE
		default (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV

In the past, merging them would be tricky, but it seems that it is now
possible to merge those symbols, in order to simplify V4L dependencies.

Let's keep VIDEO_DEV, as this one is used on some make *defconfig
configurations.

42a55435b0 media: i2c: max2175: Use rbtree rather than flat register cache
The max2175 uses a flat register cache but supplies only a single default
value and has many volatile registers. This is a poor fit for a flat cache
since the cache will assume a default of zero for any register not yet
written which can lead to bugs for example when regmap_update_bits()
suppresses a noop write. A rbtree cache is a much better fit, this will
only cache default values and values that have been written to the device
with any reads of uncached values going to the hardware. Convert the driver
to use a rbtree cache.

Since the device is controlled via I2C the cost of manging the rbtree
should be immaterial compared to the cost of accessing the device.

In ov5640_set_fmt, pending_fmt_change will always be false, because the
sensor format is saved before comparing it with the previous format:
	fmt = &sensor->fmt;...
	*fmt = *mbus_fmt;...
	if (mbus_fmt->code != sensor->fmt.code)
		sensor->pending_fmt_change = true;
This causes the sensor to capture with the previous pixelcode.

Also, changes might happen even for V4L2_SUBDEV_FORMAT_TRY, so fix that.

Basically, revert back to the state before

c748f10c21 media: ov6650: Fix missing frame interval enumeration support
According to v4l2-compliance utility, a video device which supports
V4L2_CAP_TIMEPERFRAME via .vidioc_s_parm() operation should also
support .vidioc_enum_frameintervals(). If the former is implemented
via a call to v4l2_s_parm_cap() which in turn calls a subdevice
.s_frame_interval() pad operation, the video device may want to
implement the latter by passing frame interval enumeration requests to
the subdevice .enum_frame_intervals() video operation. If that
operation is not supported by the subdevice and failure is returned by
the video device, the compliance test issues a warning.

Implement the missing pad operation. Enumerate frame intervals

According to subdevice interface specification found in V4L2 API

c740526464 media: ov6650: Add try support to selection API operations
Try requests are now only supported by format processing pad operations
implemented by the driver. The driver selection API operations
currently respond to them with -EINVAL. While that is correct, it
constraints video device drivers to not use subdevice cropping at all
while processing user requested active frame size, otherwise their set
try format results might differ from active. As a consequence, we
can't fix set format pad operation as not to touch crop rectangle since
that would affect users not being able to set arbitrary frame sizes.
Moreover, without a working set try selection support we are not able
to use pad config crop rectangle as a reference while processing set
try format requests.

Implement missing try selection support. Moreover, as it will be now
possible to maintain the pad config crop rectangle via selection API,
start using it instead of the active one as a reference while
processing set try format requests.

is_unscaled_ok() helper, now also called from set selection operation,
has been just moved up in the source file to avoid a prototype, with no
functional changes.

1f6f1e959a media: ov6650: Fix set format try processing path
According to subdevice interface specification found in V4L2 API
documentation, set format pad operations should not affect image
geometry set in preceding image processing steps. Unfortunately, that
requirement is not respected by the driver implementation of set format
as it was not the case when that code was still implementing a pair of
now obsolete .s_mbus_fmt() / .try_mbus_fmt() video operations before
they have been merged and reused as an implementation of .set_fmt() pad
operation by commit 717fd5b490 ("[media] v4l2: replace try_mbus_fmt
by set_fmt").

In case of set format active processing path the issue can be fixed
easily by excluding a call to set active selection from that path. That
will effectively limit frame size processing to optimal frame scaling
against active crop rectangle without touching it. Users can just call
set active selection themselves to obtain desired frame size. However,
set format try processing path needs more work.

First of all, the driver should be extended with set try selection
support. Lack of it constraints video device drivers to not use
subdevice cropping at all while processing user requested active frame
size, otherwise their set try format results might differ from active.

Next, set format try processing path should use pad config crop
rectangle as a reference, not the active one as it does now. That
issue can be resolved easily as soon as set try selection support is
added to the driver so pad config crop rectangle can be maintained by
users via selection API.

Last, set format try processing path should give the same results as
active in respect to active vs. pad config crop rectangle geometry.
Both rectangles should be either not touched by set format (that's what
we are going to achieve) or modified the same way, otherwise users
won't be able to obtain equal results from both paths while iterating
through set format and set selection operations in order to obtain
desired frame size.

We can't begin with modifying set format pad operation as not to touch
crop rectangle since that depends on availability of set try selection
for symmetry. Neither can we begin with adding set try selection since
that in turn depends on equal handling of active and pad config crop
rectangles by set format. We can either implement all required
modifications in a single patch, or begin with fixing current set
format try processing path to appropriately handle pad config crop
rectangle. This patch implements the latter approach as believed to
be more readable.

Move crop rectangle adjustments code from a helper (the former
implementation of .s_fmt(), now called from set format active
processing path) to the body of set format pad operation function
where it can be also used for processing try requests for symmetry with
active ones. As the helper no longer processes frame geometry, only
frame format and half scaling, simplify its API accordingly and update
its users.

Moreover, extract code that applies crop rectangle hardware limits
(now a part of .set_selection() operation which is called from set
format active processing path) to a new helper and call that helper
from set format try processing path as well for symmetry with active.

295786e535 media: i2c: Update HTS values in ov8865
The HTS values for some of the modes in the ov8865 driver are a bit
unusual, coming in lower than the output_size_x is set to. It seems
like they might be calculated to fit the desired framerate into a
configuration with just two data lanes. To bring this more in line
with expected behaviour, raise the HTS values above the output_size_x.

The corollary of that change is that the hardcoded frame intervals
against the modes no longer make sense, so remove those entirely.
Update the .g/s_frame_interval() callbacks to calculate the frame
interval based on the current mode and the vblank and hblank settings.

The implementation of the .enum_frame_interval() callback is no longer
suitable since the possible frame rate is now a continuous range depending
on the vblank control setting, so remove that callback entirely.

d64a7709a8 media: TDA1997x: replace video detection routine
The TDA1997x (HDMI receiver) driver currently uses a specific video
format detection scheme. The frame (or field in interlaced mode), line
and HSync pulse durations are compared to those of known, standard video
modes. If a match is found, the mode is assumed to be detected,
otherwise -ERANGE is returned (then possibly ignored). This means that:
- another mode with similar timings will be detected incorrectly
  (e.g. 2x faster clock and lines twice as long)
- non-standard modes will not work.

This patch replaces this scheme with a direct read of geometry
registers. This way all modes recognized by the chip are supported.

In interlaced modes, the code assumes the V sync signal has the same
duration for both fields. While this may be not necessarily true,
I can't see any way to get the "other" V sync width. This is most
probably harmless.

All tests have been performed on Gateworks' Ventana GW54xx board, with
a TDA19971 chip.

439b87fceb media: video-i2c: more precise intervals between frames
MLX90640 should ideally be working without a frame skip.
In short, if a frame is skipped, then half of a frame loses correction
information, having no way to retrieve its original compensation.

This patch improves the timing in three ways:

1) Replaced schedule_timeout_interruptible() to usleep_range()
The former "only ensures that it will sleep for at least
schedule_delay (if not interrupted)", as pointed out by mchehab.
As a result, the frame rate could lag behind than the actual capability
of the hardware
(Raspberry Pi would show a few Hz slower than set value)

2) Calculation based on us, not jiffies
Jiffies usually has resolution of 100Hz, and possibly even cruder.
MLX90640 can go up to 64Hz frame rate, which does not make sense to
calculate the interval with aforementioned resolution.

3) Interval calculation based on the last frame's end time
Using the start time of the current frame will probably make tiny bit
of drift every time. This made more sense when I didn't realize 1),
but it still makes sense without adding virtually any complexity,
so this stays in.

5cdd19bbad media: TDA1997x: report -ENOLINK after disconnecting HDMI source
The TD1997x chip retains vper, hper and hsper register values when the
HDMI source is disconnected. Use a different means of checking if the
link is still valid.

f809665ee7 media: imx258: Limit the max analogue gain to 480
The range for analog gain mentioned in the datasheet is [0, 480].
The real gain formula mentioned in the datasheet is:

	Gain = 512 / (512 – X)

Hence, values larger than 511 clearly makes no sense. The gain
register field is also documented to be of 9-bits in the datasheet.

Certainly, it is enough to infer that, the kernel driver currently
advertises an arbitrary analog gain max. Fix it by rectifying the
value as per the data sheet i.e. 480.

51f93add36 media: imx258: Rectify mismatch of VTS value
The frame_length_lines (0x0340) registers are hard-coded as follows:

- 4208x3118
  frame_length_lines = 0x0c50

- 2104x1560
  frame_length_lines = 0x0638

- 1048x780
  frame_length_lines = 0x034c

The driver exposes the V4L2_CID_VBLANK control in read-only mode and
sets its value to vts_def - height, where vts_def is a mode-dependent
value coming from the supported_modes array. It is set using one of
the following macros defined in the driver:

  #define IMX258_VTS_30FPS                0x0c98
  #define IMX258_VTS_30FPS_2K             0x0638
  #define IMX258_VTS_30FPS_VGA            0x034c

There's a clear mismatch in the value for the full resolution mode i.e.
IMX258_VTS_30FPS. Fix it by rectifying the macro with the value set for
the frame_length_lines register as stated above.

d84a2e4900 media: ov8856: ignore gpio and regulator for ov8856 with ACPI
For ov8856 working with ACPI, it does not depend on the reset gpio
and regulator to do reset and power control, so should get the gpio
and regulator for non-ACPI cases only, otherwise it will break ov8856
with ACPI.
