Original start/stop of FRR prior to David's rewrite in PR 3507, when configuring multi-instance would only start multi-instance (-1 -2 -3 -4...) or just the daemon, not both. If you happened to start a ospfd instance of 1 then both the default and instance 1 would react to cli. FRRouting
FRR is free software that implements and manages various IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols. It runs on nearly all distributions of Linux and BSD as well as Solaris and supports all modern CPU architectures.
FRR currently supports the following protocols:

For Debian and its derivatives, use the APT repository at https://deb.frrouting.org/.
