IMET/type-3 routes are used by VTEPs to advertise the flood mode for BUM traffic via the PMSI tunnel attribute. If a type-3 route is not rxed from a remote-VTEP we default to "no-head-end-rep" for that remote-VTEP. In such cases static-config such as PIM is likely used for BUM flooding. FRRouting
FRR is free software that implements and manages various IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocols. It runs on nearly all distributions of Linux and BSD as well as Solaris and supports all modern CPU architectures.
FRR currently supports the following protocols:
