GCC for 32-bit ARM chokes on .aslc files when running with LTO
enabled. Since LTO has no benefit whatsoever here, just disable
it globally for GCC5 and up when building .aslc files.

Build tool do not support SET syntax in DSC.
If the SET statement is used in DSC, build tool just ignore it.
That behavior confused some users that
they think SET statement works in DSC like in FDF.
To avoid such confusion, build tool report ERROR
if there is "SET" statement in Dsc file.

When an integer constant specified in the .vfr file is
too large for the varstore field it is being used with,
the VFR compiler reports an overflow warning like this:
Test.vfr(693): WARNING: Overflow: Value 1024 is too large to
store in a UINT8
: String to UINT* Overflow
Since Warning does not break the build process,
and it is easy to miss it.
This patch is to update the code to report error and break
the build if meet this kind of issue.

"tools_def.template" currently suggests, in the documentation of the
LzmaF86Compress utility, that said tool is generally unhelpful on binaries
built with the GCC44 toolchain, relative to LzmaCompress.
This statement doesn't apply to the GCC48 toolchain. I compressed 126
NOOPT_GCC48/IA32 unique EFI modules (built with gcc-4.8.5, as part of
OVMF) with both LzmaCompress and LzmaF86Compress. I repeated the same for
117 NOOPT_GCC48/X64 unique EFI modules. On average, the LzmaF86Compress
output size was 92.4% of the LzmaCompress output size in the IA32 case
(best relative compression: 86.01%, poorest relative compression: 97.47%
-- still a win). In the X64 case, the LzmaF86Compress output size was
92.95% of the LzmaCompress output size, on avarege (best relative
compression: 87.69%, poorest relative compression: 97.65% -- again, still
a win).
Given the consistent improvement from LzmaCompress to LzmaF86Compress,
remove the statement (rather than updating it to GCC48).

DLINK_COMMON definitions are not consumed by "build_rule.template";
instead, DLINK_COMMON definitions (internal to "tools_def.template") were
invented for sharing options between ASLDLINK_FLAGS and DLINK_FLAGS.
However, this intent doesn't actually apply to
GCC48_IA32_X64_DLINK_COMMON: it is never consumed. Furthermore, the
GCC45..GCC47 instances of IA32_X64_DLINK_COMMON too lead up to
GCC48_IA32_X64_DLINK_COMMON only -- they form a dead-end. Remove them
altogether, in order to simplify the subsequent patches.

This drops ARM and AARCH64 support from the GCC46 and GCC47 toolchain
definitions, which are on the list to be removed, along with VS2003,
VS2005, VS2008, VS2010, DDK3790, UNIXGCC, GCC44, GCC45, ELFGCC, CYGGCC,
ICC, ICC11 and MYTOOLS.
Since GCC46 and GCC47 are the only ones on that list that support ARM
and/or AARCH64, let's give Liming a hand and cover the ARM side of
things first, so that everything that remains to be removed is x86
only.

The standalone MM core is executed in place, and resides in a
separate execution context which may be space constrained.
Since code and data may be mapped with different attributes for
security reasons, the PE/COFF binary could have a section
alignment of 4 KB.
This means that any relocation data is not only useless, but it
will also take up 4 KB of valuable space.
So add support for the RELOCS_STRIPPED attribute on FFS files of
this type, so that we can get rid of the .reloc section altogether.

This patch is going to fix a regression issue that is introduced
by commit b3497bad12.
Before commit b3497b, build launched a external GenFds.py to generate
Fd, so the global variable in GenFds.py was reset in each execution.
After commit b3497b, each GenFds run in the same python interpeter, so
we need to explicitly reset global variable in each GenFdsApi call.

The 'arm-linux-gnueabihf' target triplet we use for CLANG35 and
CLANG38 specifies a hardfloat target, and so the binaries that are
emitted are annotated as using VFP registers for passing floating
point arguments, even though no VFP is used anywhere in the code.
This works fine as long as we don't try to link against code
that uses software floating point, but combining object files
with different floating point calling conventions is not permitted.
So switch to the softfloat arm-linux-gnueabi triplet instead.
This affects both the name Clang uses when invoking the linker,
and the arguments it passes to it, and we are mostly interested
in the latter (since any version of GNU ld.bfd will do the right
thing as long as it targets EABI ARM)
For native builds, this change has no effect, since the unprefixed
system linker will take priority, and so Clang will pass the right
arguments to whichever linker happens to be the system linker.
For cross builds, the fact that Clang composes the name of the
linker by prefixing '-ld' with the target triplet implies that
users will have to switch to a version of binutils that targets
arm-linux-gnueabi rather than arm-linux-gnueabihf. Note that the
GCCx toolchain targets can use either when building for ARM so this
does not create a need to install two versions of the ARM cross
toolchain. Also, note that all ARM toolchains in the GCC family
are already documented as requiring a toolchain that targets
arm-linux-gnueabi and not arm-linux-gnueabihf.

The ARM linker may emit veneers, i.e., trampolines, when ordinary
direct relative branches cannot be used, e.g., for Thumb interworking
or branch targets that are out of range.
Usually, such veneers carry an absolute reference to the branch
target, which is problematic for us, since these absolute references
are not covered by annotations that are visible to GenFw in the
PE/COFF conversion, and so these absolute references are not fixed
up by the PE/COFF loader at runtime.
So switch to all ARM GNU ld toolchains to position independent veneers.

current edk2\BaseTools\Conf\build_rule.template, the compile of nasm
source files does not have the $(INC) support.
The '-I' option only includes the directory of the nasm source file
(${s_path}(+)). Hence, it will be impossible for nasm files to include
files outside of the nasm source file directory.
As a comparison, the compile of both .s and .asm have $(INC) support
in their compile commands.

PE/COFF only has a very limited id space for runtime relocations, and
so it defines only a single relocation for movw/movt instruction pairs,
which can be combined to load a 32-bit symbol reference into a register.
For this to work as expected, these instructions must always appear in
the same order and adjacently, and this is something few compilers take
into account, unless they target PE/COFF explicitly (and this is not the
case for our ELF based toolchains)
For Clang 3.6 and later, we can pass the -mno-movt option to suppress
movw/movt pairs entirely, which works around the issue. Unfortunately,
for Clang 3.5, the option is called differently (-mllvm -arm-use-movt=0)
and mutually incompatible between 3.5 and 3.6.
Since it is desirable for the CLANG35 toolchain to be usable on newer
versions of Clang as well (given that it is the only non-LTO alternative
to CLANG38), let's work around this issue in a way that permits versions
3.5 and newer of Clang to be used with the CLANG35 profile.
So pass the -mkernel flag instead (and add -Qunused-argument so Clang
does not complain about the -mno-unaligned-access in ARM_CC_XIPFLAGS).
This also inhibits movw/movt generation, along with some other changes
(e.g., long calls) which do affect code generation but not in an
undesirable manner.

We currently permit R_ARM_GOT_PREL relocations in the ELF32 conversion
routines, under the assumption that relative relocations are fine as
long as the section layout is the same between ELF and PE/COFF.
However, as is the case with any proxy generating relocation, it is
up to the linker to emit an entry in the GOT table and populate it
with the correct absolute address, which should also be fixed up at
PE/COFF load time. Unfortunately, the relocations covering the GOT
section are not emitted into the static relocation sections processed
by GenFw, but only in the dynamic relocation section as a R_ARM_RELATIVE
relocation, and so GenFw fails to emit the correct PE/COFF relocation
data for GOT entries.
Since GOT indirection is pointless anyway for PE/COFF modules running
in UEFI context, let's just drop the references to R_ARM_GOT_PREL from
GenFw, resulting in a build time failure rather than a runtime failure
if such relocations do occur.

Since 4 KB section alignment is required when mapping PE/COFF images
with strict permissions, update the default section alignment when
using GCC49 and GCC5 in RELEASE mode. Note that XIP modules such as
SEC, PEIMs or PEI core are not affected by this change, since the
override to 32 byte aligment remains in effect.

Currently, AutoGen and GenFds run in different python interpreters. The
parser are duplicated. This patch is going to create new API for GenFds
and have the build to call that API instead of executing GenFds.py. As
such, the GenFds and build can share the parser data.
This patch is expected to save the time of GenFds about 2~3 seconds.
More details will be logged in BZ.
This is the summary measure data generated from python cProfile for
building Ovmf.
Currently:
8379147 function calls (8135450 primitive calls) in 12.580 seconds
After applying this patch:
3428712 function calls (3418881 primitive calls) in 8.944 seconds

The macro MAX_ADDRESS represents the largest virtual address that
is valid for a certain architecture. For the BaseTools, this quantity
is irrelevant, since the same tools can be used to build for different
targets.
Since we only refer to it in a single place, which is an ASSERT() that
doesn't seem particularly useful (it ensures that memcpy() will not
be called with arguments that will make it read beyond the end of the
address space and wrap around), let's drop the ASSERT and all references
to MAX_ADDRESS.

The maximum value that can be represented by the native word size
of the *target* should be irrelevant when compiling tools that
run on the build *host*. So drop the definition of MAX_UINTN, now

Replace the default size limit of IsDevicePathValid() with a value
that does not depend on the native word size of the build host.
4 GiB seems sufficient as the upper bound of a device path handled
by UEFI.

Don't use the native word size string to number parsing routines,
but instead, use the 64-bit one and cast to UINTN.
Currently, the only user is in Source/C/DevicePath/DevicePathFromText.c
which takes care to use Strtoi64 () unless it assumes the value fits
in 32-bit, so this change is a no-op even on 32-bit build hosts.

In the context of the BaseTools, there is no such thing as a native word
size, given that the same set of tools may be used to build a firmware
image consisting of both 32-bit and 64-bit modules.
So update StrToIpv4Address() and StrToIpv6Address() to use UINT64
types instead of UINTN types when parsing strings.

Update aslc rule to rename the temp output file from .efi to .pecoff.
This change can avoid the conflict .efi file name in output directory.

GCC link script is used to discard the unused section data from ELF image.
ASLDLINK_FLAGS requires it to remove the unnecessary section data, then
GenFw can be used to retrieve the correct data section from ELF image.

1. GetSectionData calls into GetLeafSection, otherwise doesn?t use MacroDict

.nasm source file may include some header files.
header file should be listed in Makefile as .nasm source file
dependency.
But now, BaseTools doesn't find them and list them in Makefile.
This is a missing, because original ASM file supports it.

original we get the VPD PCD items from the VPDGuid.map file in the FV
output folder. but this logic doesn't work when 1) there only have
single non Default SKU, 2) there have multiple SKU with same value.
Now we change it to get the really VPD Pcd items that already display
in the PCD section of the report.

For void* type pcd in command line, if its value is string, code should
not convert the void* pcd string in command line to array, otherwise it

The case is use Dynamic structure Pcd in the FDF file.
Current code already save the Guid, Name and Filed info for those Pcd,
but it directly use the dict key as [Name, Guid] and cause this crash

Python3 migration is the fundamental change. It requires every developer
to install Python3. Before this migration, the well communication and wide
verification must be done. But now, most people is not aware of this change,
and not try it. So, Python3 migration is reverted and be moved to edk2-staging
Python3 branch for the edk2 user evaluation.

For structure Pcd, the type defined in the DEC file is the struct name
while if this Pcd used in the DSC file, it should add VOID* keywords
when it have max size info. so this patch filter the type compare for
this case.

For structure Pcd, the latter full assign value in commandLine should
override the former field assign value. For example in commandLine,
build --pcd Token.pcd.field="haha" --pcd Token.pcd=H"{0x01,0x02}",
the former field value "haha" will be ignored and overwrite by the latter
full value "{0x01,0x02}".

Add NmakeSubdirs.py to replace NmakeSubdirs.bat in VS Makefile. This script will
invoke nmake in multi thread mode. It can save more than half time of BaseTools
C clean build.
GCC make supports multiple thread in make phase. So, GNUmakefile doesn't need apply
this script.
single task or job=1:
just single thread and invoke subprocess,subprocess will use
system.stdout to print output.
multi task:
thread number is logic cpu count.All subprocess output will pass to
python script by PIPE and then script print it to system.stdout.

Defined a pcd in Ovmf.dec and used that pcd in AcpiPlatformDxe.inf,
then assign a value to that pcd from DSC, then build Ovmf platform
successfully. But this Pcd was wrongly listed into not used section
in the report.txt file.

Extend the keyword "!include", "!if", etc to case-insensitive.

In commit 81502cee20 ("BaseTools/Source/C: take EXTRA_LDFLAGS from the
caller", 2018-08-16), I missed that "VfrCompile/GNUmakefile" does not use
BUILD_LFLAGS in the APPLICATION linking rule, unlike "app.makefile" does.
Instead, "VfrCompile/GNUmakefile" uses the (undefined) LFLAGS macro.
Therefore commit 81502cee20 did not cover the linking step of
VfrCompile.
Thankfully, the structure of the linking rules is the same, between
"app.makefile" and "VfrCompile/GNUmakefile". Rename the undefined LFLAGS
macro in "VfrCompile/GNUmakefile" to VFR_LFLAGS (for consistency with
VFR_CXXFLAGS), and set it to EXTRA_LDFLAGS.
As a result, we have:

1) Add a new file Common/caching.py
a. Allows for automated caching of repeated class functions, class
properties, and non-class functions
b. When called the first time the value is cached and if called a
second time, the cached result is called, not the function.
c. When used, this saves lots of memory since the actual function
pointers are replaced with smaller data elements.
d. note that not all features are used yet.
2) Fix AutoGen/GenMake and AutoGen/GetC to not call into private member
variables of ModuleAutoGen class
a. use the existing accessor properties for the data
3) Change AutoGen classes to remove a exception for duplicate members in
__new__ and use ?in? testing to speed up
4) Work on ModuleAutoGen class
a. Change all properties that use caching to use @caching_property
(see #1 above)
b. Change all properties that do not use caching to use standard python
decorator "@property"
c. Change all cases where a dictionary/set/list/object was created
and then immediately updated to use constructor parameters
d. Refactor each property function to remove the internal variable
that is no longer needed (this helps find items like #2 above)
e. Refactor _ApplyBuildRule with optional parameter to work around
circular dependency with BinaryFileList.
Note that 4e was almost certainly unintended as the functions were acting on
incomplete information since they were directly accessing private instance
variables at the same time another function on the stack was creating the same
private isntance data.
This overall changes behavior slightly, but makes the codebase smaller and
easier to read.

The option "-O2" is not a preprocessor flag, but a code generation
(compilation) flag. Move it from BUILD_CPPFLAGS to BUILD_CFLAGS and
BUILD_CXXFLAGS.
Because "VfrCompile/GNUmakefile" uses "-O2" through BUILD_CPPFLAGS, and
because it doesn't use BUILD_CXXFLAGS, we have to introduce BUILD_OPTFLAGS
separately, so that "VfrCompile/GNUmakefile" can continue using just this
flag.
This patch doesn't change behavior.

Option "-c" is a mode selection flag (choosing between compiling and
linking); it should not be in BUILD_CFLAGS, which applies only to
compiling anyway. The compilation rule for C source files, in
"footer.makefile", already includes "-c" -- currently we have double "-c"
options.

build Helloworld first, then rename the source file Helloworld.c to
Helloworld_new.c and also update the file name to Helloworld_new.c in
.inf file's [sources] section. finally, he rebuild it again.
It cause build failure due to multiple definition of `UefiMain' because
in the .lib file it both have Helloworld.obj and Helloworld_new.obj.
current we use the option 'cr' to create the .lib file while the 'r'
cmd means replace existing or insert new files into the archive. so
in this patch before we create the .lib file, we delete it first.

In DSC, we can define the driver with the different FILE GUID. So this
driver name and its FILE GUID should also be listed in Build output
Guid.xref. But now, Guid.xref still lists the driver MODULE_GUID.

The ByteArray() method returns a string with the hex bytes of
a PCD value. Make sure the string is always encoded as a string,
so it can be used to build a complete PCD statement string and be
written out to a file. This change is required for Python 3.x
compatibility.

If the different token with the same PCD names are used in the driver,
build can pass. If the different token with the same PCD name are used
in the different library, then the driver build will fail. The reason
is that the driver autogen.c is not generated correctly for the second
case. BaseTools should check the duplicated PCD name is the driver and
its linked libraries.

The case is the Pcd item both used in 1 module inf and 1 lib inf, and
in the DSC component section, it override the Pcd value.
In the module, the pcd value is the override value, but in the lib inf
the pcd value is the value that in the DSC PCD section's value, then it
cause the Pcd value is different in the module and lib. but actually we
only need use the Pcd value in the module to decide whether it use the
same value.

Adds support for the following X64 ELF relocations to GenFw
R_X86_64_GOTPCREL
R_X86_64_GOTPCRELX
R_X86_64_REX_GOTPCRELX
Background:
The GCC49 and GCC5 toolchains use the small pie model for X64. In the
small pie model, gcc emits a GOTPCREL relocation whenever C code takes
the address of a global function. The emission of GOTPCREL is mitigated
by several factors
1. In GCC49, all global symbols are declared hidden thereby eliminating
the emission of GOTPCREL.
2. In GCC5, LTO is used. In LTO, the complier first creates intermediate
representation (IR) files. During the static link stage, the LTO compiler
combines all IR files as a single compilation unit, using linker symbol
assistance to generate code. Any global symbols defined in the IR that
are not referenced from outside the IR are converted to local symbols -
thereby eliminating the emission of GOTPCREL for them.
3. The linker (binutils ld) further transforms any GOTPCREL used with
the movq opcode to a direct rip-relative relocation used with the leaq
opcode. This linker optimization can be disabled with the option
-Wl,--no-relax. Furthermore, gcc is able to emit GOTPCREL with other
opcodes
- pushq opcode for passing arguments to functions.
- addq/subq opcodes for pointer arithmetic.
These other opcode uses are not transformed by the linker.
Ultimately, in GCC5 there are some emissions of GOTPCREL that survive
all these mitigations - if C code takes the address of a global function
defined in assembly code - and performs pointer arithmetic on the
address - then the GOTPCREL remains in the final linker product.
A GOTPCREL relocation today causes the build to stop since GenFw does
not handle them. It is possible to eliminate any remaining GOTPCREL
emissions by manually declaring the global symbols causing them to have
hidden visibility. This patch is offered instead to allow GenFw to
handle any residual GOTPCREL.

The case is a PCD used in one library only, and in DSC component

Per PEP237(*), 'long' is unified with 'int' and removed from python3.
* To make the script compatible with both python2 and python3,
'type(0L)' is replaced with 'type(sys.maxsize + 1)'. In python2,
the number is 'long', while it's 'int' in python3. We can remove
the workaround after moving to python3 completely.
* long() is replaced with int() since int() returns a long when need.

When using Linaro GCC5+ arm-eabi toolchain on Windows, the generated
DSDT.iii contains a canonicalized ("\.\" removed and lower case)
filepath for the preprocessed DSDT.i file in the first line.
Trim.exe is called on DSDT.iii to generate DSDT.iiii, which does a
line for line comparison of filepaths encountered to the preprocessed
DSDT.i filepath found in the first line to determine what lines to
place in DSDT.iiii. Since the DSDT.i filepath is canonicalized and
all later filepaths in DSDT.iii are not canonicalized, all comparisons
fail and the result is in an empty DSDT.iiii.
Issue was first reported to Linaro here:

where the recommendation was to address the issue in Trim.exe.
This patch normalizes the case and pathname of all filepaths
encountered during Trim.exe execution on preprocessed files. This
fixes comparisons of filepaths that contain mismatching case on
case-insensitive filesystems, redundant separators, and uplevel
references.

VS2017 reports warning LNK4281: undesirable base address 0x0 for x64 image;
set base address above 4GB for best ASLR optimization.
edk2 build always sets baes address to zero as default. So, ignore this link
warning.

The DSC and FDF file can use `!error` statement. The argument of this
statement is an error message, it causes build tool to stop at the
location where the statement is encountered and error message following
the `!error` statement is output as a message.

Create the missing NOOPT target for CLANG35 (which is ARM and AARCH64
only), and align it with the other toolchains: NOOPT has optimizations
disabled entirely (for source level debugging), and DEBUG is changed
from -O0 to -O1, as is the case for CLANG38 as well.

As reported by Liming, GCC 4.9.2 does not support the -no-pie
linker option that we added to the GCC49 and GCC5 toolchain
profiles in commit c25d390552 ("BaseTools/tools_def IA32:
disable PIE code generation explicitly") to work around issues
with recent distro toolchains that enable PIE code generation
by default.
So rollback the changes for GCC49 but preserve them for GCC5

As a security measure, some distros now build their GCC toolchains with
PIE code generation enabled by default, because it is a prerequisite
for ASLR to be enabled when running the executable.
This typically results in slightly larger code, but it also generates
ELF relocations that our tooling cannot deal with, so let's disable it
explicitly when using GCC49 or later for IA32. (Note that this does not
apply to X64: it uses PIE code deliberately in some cases, and our
tooling does deal with the resuling relocations)

For case-insensitive file systems, edk2 String.py collides with the
Python string.py, which results in build errors. This,for example,
applies to building via the Windows Subsystem for Linux from a
DriveFS file system. This patch renames String to StringUtils to
prevent conflicts for case-insensitive file systems.

The EvaluateConditional function should not call GetRealFileLine
because this is already done in Warning init and only needs to be
calculated in the event of a parsing failure. This fix stops
InsertedLines from being subtracted twice during error handling.

The ElfConvert routines in GenFw don't handle the ".eh_frame" ELF section
emitted by gcc. For this reason, Leif disabled the generation of that
section for AARCH64 with "-fno-asynchronous-unwind-tables" in commit
28e80befa4 [1], and Ard did the same for IA32 and X64 in commit
26ecc55c02 [2]. (The CLANG38 toolchain received the same flag at its
inception, in commit 6f756db5ea [3].)
However, ".eh_frame" is back now; in upstream gcc commit 9cbee213b579 [4]
(part of tag "gcc-8_1_0-release"), both "-fasynchronous-unwind-tables" and
"-funwind-tables" were made the default for AARCH64. (The patch author
described the effects on the gcc mailing list [5].) We have to counter the
latter flag with "-fno-unwind-tables", otherwise GenFw chokes on
".eh_frame" again (triggered for example on Fedora 28).
"-f[no-]unwind-tables" goes back to at least gcc-4.4 [6], so it's safe to
add to GCC_AARCH64_CC_FLAGS.

Commit 88252a90d1 changed ValueChain
from a dict to a set, but also changed the (former) key type from a
touple to two separate values, which was probably unintended and also
breaks build for packages involving Structured PCDs, because add()
only takes one argument.
This commit changes the values back to touples.

Per DSC spec 3.11 [Components] Sections:
The PCD access methods (and storage methods) are selected on a platform
basis - it is not permitted to have a PCD listed in one of the Pcd
sections and use it differently in an individual module. For example,
if a PCD is listed in a [PcdsFixedAtBuild] section, it is not permitted
to list it in a <PcdsPatchableInModule> sub-section of an INF file.
but current code doesn't report error for this case.

The crossing GCC compiler may use the different path for make and gcc tool.
So, GCC_HOST_BIN is introduced for make path. GCC5_BIN is still kept for
gcc path. User needs to set GCC_HOST_BIN besides set GCC5_BIN env if
the default make is not used. Normally, make is in the default system path.
GCC_HOST_BIN is not required to be set.

Add function _INIT_OPHDR_COND () for variable initialization.
Make code logic more clean.
Previously _CLEAR_SAVED_OPHDR () is used for variable
initialization, and we updated it to clean memory.
But _CLEAR_SAVED_OPHDR () is still called for variable
initialization. This will cause uninitialized pointer
will be checked to free and cause unexpected issue.
This patch is to add new function for variable initialization
and keep _CLEAR_SAVED_OPHDR () to clean memory which is
aligned with its function name.

Commit eece4292ac changed a variable name, which was tied directly to
a config file entry. This seperates the internal variable names from
the config file entries by having the internal dict accessed through a
translation of key words.
added a test when this is run straight from command line.

1. when inf file is binary module, not generate makefile,
so need generate ffs with previous method.

There are use cases where a VOID * PCD needs to be generated from multiple
binary input files. This can be in the form of an array of fixed size
elements or a set of variable sized elements.
Update BinToPcd to support multiple one or more -i INPUTFILE arguments.
By default, the contents of each binary input file are concatenated in
the order provided. This supports generating a PCD that is an array of
fixed size elements
Add -x, --xdr flags to BinToPcd to encodes the PCD using the
Variable-Length Opaque Data of RFC 4506 External Data Representation
Standard (XDR).

The data format from RFC 4506 meets the requirements for a PCD that is a
set of variable sized elements in the Variable-Length Opaque Data format.
The overhead of this format is a 32-bit length and 0 to 3 bytes of padding

sha256 is not the standard option. It should be replaced by sha -sha256.
Otherwise, it doesn't work in MAC OS.
In V2, update the option to sha1 -sha256.
In late openssl version >= 1.1, there is no sha option, but has sha1,sha256.
In previous openssl version < 1.1, there is no sha256, but has sha,sha1.
To work with all openssl version, use sha1 -sha256 for it.

Utilities written in Python may depend on external (preinstalled) Python
packages; for example, Ecc depends on "antlr_python_runtime-3.0.1". Such
packages need not be installed system-wide, as long as they are reachable
through PYTHONPATH. Therefore we shouldn't overwrite the user's PYTHONPATH
with "BaseTools/Source/Python"; instead, we should prepend the latter to
the former.

Current code will generate maxsize for HII type PCD when parser DSC
file, while this HII type PCD value maybe override in build command

when VOID* type non-structure pcd used in --pcd, and its max size is not
specified in DSC or its value is hex value, build break due to the code
int(Pcd.MaxDatumSize,10).
Now this patch remove this code, because tool will calculate the size
info in later phase.

I recently added the gcc-8 specific "-Wno-stringop-truncation" and
"-Wno-restrict" options to BUILD_CFLAGS, both for "Darwin" (XCODE5 /
clang, OSX) and otherwise (gcc, Linux / Cygwin).
I also regression-tested the change with gcc-4.8 on Linux -- gcc-4.8 does
not know either of the (gcc-8 specific) "-Wno-stringop-truncation" and
"-Wno-restrict" options, yet the build completed fine (by GCC design).
Regarding OSX, my expectation was that
- XCODE5 / clang would either recognize these warnings options (because
clang does recognize most -W options of gcc),
- or, similarly to gcc, clang would simply ignore the "-Wno-xxx" flags
that it didn't recognize.
Neither is the case; the new flags have broken the BaseTools build on OSX.
Revert them (for OSX only).

It is a false positive because, while the bound equals the length of the
source argument, the destination pointer is moved back towards the
beginning of the destination buffer by the same amount (and this amount is
range-checked first, so we can't precede the start of the dest buffer).
Replace both strncpy() calls with memcpy().

The right way to fix the warning would be to implement string concat with
snprintf(). However, Microsoft does not appear to support snprintf()
before VS2015

Per UEFI spec, FibreEx.WWN, FibreEx.Lun, SasEx.Address, SasEx.Lun
and iSCSI.Lun are all 8-byte array with byte #0 in the left.
It means "0102030405060708" should be converted to:
UINT8[8] = {01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08}
or UINT64 = {0807060504030201}
Today's implementation wrongly uses the reversed order.
The patch fixes this issue by using StrHexToBytes().

when the SECTION FV_IMAGE = $(XX)/XX.Fv, the Fv file should relative to
WORKSPACE, so when we search the XX.Fv.txt file, we should search the
path relative to workspace first.

DSC Components section support flexible PCD, and for binary driver, we

The root cause is the byte array value in the driver Pcd, some bytes
have additional space character, while the value in DSC file doesn't
have this space, it cause the string compare return false, so we remove
the extra space.

When generate build report, Tool will get the info like size, Fv Name,
etc from the xx.Fv.txt file and add these info into the build report.
This patch support the xx.Fv.txt to use absolute file path format since
user may provide specified FV path.

Clang's preprocessor behaves differently from GCC's, and produces
intermediate device tree source that still contains #pragma pack()
and other directives that the device tree compiler chokes on.
For assembling device tree sources, it matters very little which
preprocessor is being used, so let's just use GNU CPP explicitly.

Use 2 passes when evaluating PCD values to discover
all the LABEL() operators and compute the byte offset
of each LABEL(). The 2nd pass then has the information
to replace the OFFSET_OF() operator with the computed
byte offset. The 2 passes allows OFFSET_OF() to be used
before a LABEL() is declared.

Original BaseTools source build append WindowsLike path to PATH Env,
while WINDDK installation has a "build.exe", if user place WINDDK

By default, the device tree compiler emits phandle properties twice:
once called 'phandle' and again called 'linux,phandle'. Given that
Linux was updated in early 2010 [0] to accept the former (which is
what is specified in the ePAPR and device tree specifications), there
is no point in emitting both when compiling device trees for UEFI
platforms.

Original VOID* type support L"string" and "string" format, now we also
add support for single quote string that without null terminator.
Type VOID* support L'a' and 'a', the value transfer to c style value.
L'a' --> {0x61, 0x00}
L'ab' --> {0x61, 0x00, 0x62, 0x00}
'a' --> {0x61}
'ab' --> {0x61, 0x62}
when the value is L'' or '' that not include any character, tool will

I was getting `HOST_ARCH` set using the linux arch name ("x86_64"), which
is different from the MS one ("X64").
It is not clear anyway we can proceed without valid build variables
(`ARCH_INCLUDE`, `BIN_PATH`, `LIB_PATH`, `SYS_BIN_PATH`, and
`SYS_LIB_PATH`).

Ironically, disabling warnings in the OpensslLib library build is
causing breakage when using the CLANG35 toolchain to build for ARM:
error: unknown warning option '-Werror=maybe-uninitialized'; did you mean '-Werror=uninitialized'? [-Werror,-Wunknown-warning-option]
So let's add -Wno-unknown-warning-option to the list of warnings to
ignore when using Clang 3.5, and move the same option from the x86
specific list to the shared list for Clang 3.8.

In addition, the print_mem() function does not conform to the edk2 coding
style:
- we use CamelCase and no underscores in identifiers,
- the types and type qualifiers should follow the edk2 style,
- initialization as part of definition is forbidden for local variables.
Clean these up.
While updating the print_mem()/PrintMem() call sites, also remove the
superfluous parentheses around the second argument.

clang generates many warnings
warning: field 'XXX' is uninitialized when used here [-Wuninitialized]
for VfrFormPkg.h.
VfrFormPkg.h defines many classes derived from CIfrObj (along with other
base classes.)
Each of these derived classes defines a non-static member field that serves
as a duplicate pointer to an original pointer defined in the CIfrObj base
class, but cast to a different pointer type.
The derived class constructor passes the duplicate pointer to base class
constructors:
1) Once passes the address of the duplicate pointer to the CIfrObj
constructor to have it initialized.
2) Then passes the duplicate pointer to one or more subsequent base class
constructors to be used.
Both 1) and 2) constitute undefined behavior in C++. C++ prescribes that
base classes are initialized before non-static members when initializing a
derived class. So when base class constructors are executing, it is not
permitted to assume any non-static members of the derived class exist (even
to the stage of having their storage allocated.)
clang does not issue warnings for 1), but issues warnings -Wuninitialized
for 2).
This coding methodology is resolved as follows:
a) The CIfrObj object accessor method for retrieving the original pointer
is revised to a template member function that returns the original
pointer cast to a desired target type.
b) The call to CIfrObj constructor is no longer used to initialize the
duplicate pointer in the derived class.
c) Any subsequent calls to a base class constructor that need to use the
pointer, retrieve it from the CIfrObj base class using the template
accessor method.
d) If the derived class makes no further use of the pointer, then the
duplicate pointer defined in it is eliminated.
e) If the derived class needs the duplicate pointer for other use, the
duplicate pointer remains in the derived class and is initialized in
proper order from the original pointer in CIfrObj.
f) Existing source code that previously used the CIfrObj pointer accessor
method is revised to use the template method.

The warning is suppressed specifically for clang without affecting other
compilers.

The member function CVfrDLGLexer::errstd is intended as an override virtual
function of DLGLexerBase::errstd, but due to mismatched prototype, it
didn't override, and never got called.

this is being confused with L" or L' for a Unicode string or Unicode
character.

We meet a case that different FV use same FILE statement Guid, but the
FILE content is different. current we use the Guid value as Ffs file
dir which cause the ffs file will be override. This patch use Guid
value and Fv name as ffs dir for FILE statement.
