Original commit message:

    [promise] Implement Swallowed Rejection Hook.

    This extends the current Promise Rejection Hook with two new events

      kPromiseRejectAfterResolved
      kPromiseResolveAfterResolved

    which are used to detect (and signal) misuse of the Promise constructor.
    Specifically the common bug like

      new Promise((res, rej) => {
        res(1);
        throw new Error("something")
      });

    where the error is silently swallowed by the Promise constructor without
    the user ever noticing can be caught via this hook.

Original commit message:

    Introduce ScriptOrModule and HostDefinedOptions

    This patch introduces a new container type ScriptOrModule which
    provides the name and the host defined options of the script/module.

    This patch also introduces a new PrimitivesArray that can hold
    Primitive values, which the embedder can use to store metadata.

    The HostDefinedOptions is passed to V8 through the ScriptOrigin, and
    passed back to the embedder through HostImportModuleDynamically for
    module loading.

    [api] Add optional data pointer to GC callbacks

    This can be useful when there may be multiple callbacks attached by
    code that's not directly tied to a single isolate, e.g. working
    on a per-context basis.

    This also allows rephrasing the global non-isolate APIs in terms
    of this new API, rather than working around it inside `src/heap`.

986e1d2c6f deps: cherry-pick f5fad6d from upstream v8
Original commit message:

    This commit adds a getter for the private is_verbose_ member.
    The use case for this comes from Node.js where the ability to avoid
    calling FatalException if the TryCatch is verbose would be nice
    to have.

83bf2975ec deps: cherry-pick V8 ValueSerializer changes
Refs: https://github.com/nodejs/node/pull/11048

Below is the list of commits:

deps: cherry-pick 78c0be52d from V8 upstream

Original commit message:

  ValueSerializer: Promote scheduled exceptions from wasm::ErrorThrower.

  wasm::ErrorThrower doesn't actually throw exceptions, it just schedules them.
  As a result, this exception isn't handled properly by code which expects
  ValueDeserializer to actually throw. For instance, the unit tests use a
  TryCatch to catch and handle expected exceptions in unit tests.

  Before this patch, I see local unit test failures because a wasm decode test
  schedules one, but it isn't caught (and instead causes Context::New to fail
  at the beginning of the next test).

deps: cherry-pick bf511b426 from V8 upstream

Original commit message:

  ValueSerializer: Support efficiently reading and writing one-byte strings.

  memcpy is faster than UTF-8 encoding/decoding. This yields 10-20% wins on
  serializing and deserializing long ASCII strings, according to
  blink_perf.bindings -- and these are already in a fast path where the entire
  string is known to be ASCII (but this has to be checked). The win may be
  larger for strings in Latin-1 but not ASCII (though I suspect this is an
  uncommon case).

  A change is also made to make ValueSerializerTest.EncodeTwoByteStringUsesPadding
  survive wire format version number changes.

  This is the first of a series of wire format changes from the previous Blink
  format. The deserializer continues to be able to read the old format, but
  Chromium M56 will no longer be able to read the messages written by this, in M58.

Original commit message:

  ValueSerializer: Distinguish between 'undefined' and an absent property.

  Dealing with this case requires a wire format change. It is possible that an
  element can be absent even in an array where the dense format was chosen
  (because the array initially had no holes), if the elements are modified while
  they are being serialized. In this case, a new tag for the "hole" is emitted.

  The logic to treat undefined in dense arrays as an absent property is restricted
  to versions of the wire format that this tag did not exist.

  ValueDeserializer: Only allow valid keys when deserializing object properties.

  The serializer won't ever write a more complex object. Not validating this
  allows other things to be used as keys, and converted to string when the
  property set actually occurs. It turns out this gives an opportunity to trigger
  OOM by giving an object a key which is a very large sparse array (whose string
  representation is very large).

  This case is now rejected by the deserializer.

Original commit message:

  ValueDeserializer: Make sure that an exception is the legacy path.

  The entry points to the deserializer are responsible for ensuring that an
  exception is pending by the time they return. Some failures throw exceptions
  themselves, while others (like errors in the format) are exceptions caused by
  the deserializer, not coming from the runtime.

  Like the non-legacy path, a default deserialization exception should be thrown
  in such cases.

Original commit message:

  Add SetAbortOnUncaughtExceptionCallback API

  The --abort-on-uncaught-exception command line switch makes
  Isolate::Throw abort if the error being thrown cannot be caught by a
  try/catch block.

  Embedders may want to use other mechanisms than try/catch blocks to
  handle uncaught exceptions. For instance, Node.js has "domain" objects
  that have error handlers that can handle uncaught exception like
  following:

  var d = domain.create();

  d.on('error', function onError(err) {
    console.log('Handling error');
  });

  d.run(function() {
    throw new Error("boom");
  });

  These error handlers are called by isolates' message listeners.

  If --abort-on-uncaught-exception is *not* used, the isolate's
  message listener will be called, which will in turn call the domain's
  error handler. The process will output 'Handling error' and will exit
  successfully (not due to an uncaught exception). This is the behavior
  that Node.js users expect.

  However, if --abort-on-uncaught-exception is used and when throwing an
  error within a domain that has an error handler, the process will abort
  and the domain's error handler will not be called. This is not the
  behavior that Node.js users expect.

  Having a SetAbortOnUncaughtExceptionCallback API allows embedders to
  determine when it's not appropriate to abort and instead handle the
  exception via the isolate's message listener.

  In the example above, Node.js would set a custom callback with
  SetAbortOnUncaughtExceptionCallback that would be implemented as
  following (the sample code has been simplified to remove what's not
  relevant to this change):

  bool ShouldAbortOnUncaughtException(Isolate* isolate) {
    return !IsDomainActive();
  }

  Now when --abort-on-uncaught-exception is used, Isolate::Throw would
  call that callback and determine that it should not abort if a domain
  with an error handler is active. Instead, the isolate's message listener
  would be called and the error would be handled by the domain's error
  handler.

  I believe this can also be useful for other embedders.

a5244d3a39 deps: backport 1f8555 from v8's upstream
Original commit message:

    api: introduce SealHandleScope

    When debugging Handle leaks in io.js we found it very convenient to be
    able to Seal some specific (root in our case) scope to prevent Handle
    allocations in it, and easily find leakage.

    BUG=

    Cr-Commit-Position: refs/heads/master@{#27766}

Should help us identify and fix Handle leaks in core and user-space code.

NOTE: Works only in Debug build now, but is still better than nothing.

a558cd0a61 deps: revert v8 abi change
Undo the ABI (but not API) change to NamedPropertyHandlerConfiguration.
This avoids a NODE_MODULE_VERSION bump and forcing everyone to recompile
their add-ons, at the cost of increasing the delta with upstream V8.

This commit effectively backs out 4.1.0.16, the release that introduced
the ABI change (and nothing else.)

f9ce97084c v8: Upgrade 3.26.33 with 14 patches
V8 3.26.31 has received 14 patches since the upgrade to 3.26.33. Since
3.26.33 is technically a tag on the 3.27 branch, reverting back to
3.26.31 would remove now default functionality like WeakMaps. Because of
that the patches have simply been cherry-picked and squashed.

Here is a summary of all patches:

* Fix index register assignment in LoadFieldByIndex for arm, arm64, and
  mips.
* Fix invalid attributes when generalizing because of incompatible map
  change.
* Skip write barriers when updating the weak hash table.
* MIPS: Avoid HeapObject check in HStoreNamedField.
* Do GC if CodeRange fails to allocate a block.
* Array.concat: properly go to dictionary mode when required.
* Keep CodeRange::current_allocation_block_index_ in range.
* Grow heap slower if GC freed many global handles.
* Do not eliminate bounds checks for "<const> - x".
* Add missing map check to optimized f.apply(...).
* In GrowMode, force the value to the right representation to avoid
  deopts between storing the length and storing the value.
* Reduce max executable size limit.
* Fix invalid condition in check elimination effects.
* Fix off-by-one error in Array.concat slow mode check.

f230a1cf74 v8: upgrade to 3.22.24
This commit removes the simple/test-event-emitter-memory-leak test for
being unreliable with the new garbage collector: the memory pressure
exerted by the test case is too low for the garbage collector to kick
in. It can be made to work again by limiting the heap size with the
--max_old_space_size=x flag but that won't be very reliable across
platforms and architectures.
