The "buf_sz" parameter is not used in the stmmac driver - there is one
place where the value of buf_sz is validated, and two places where it
is written. It is otherwise unused.
Remove these accesses. However, leave the module parameter in place as
removing it could cause module load to fail, breaking user setups.

Intel platform will configure the SerDes through PMC API based on the
provided interface mode.
This patch adds several new functions below:-
- intel_tsn_lane_is_available(): This new function reads FIA lane
ownership registers and common lane registers through IPC commands
to know which lane the mGbE port is assigned to.
- intel_mac_finish(): To configure the SerDes based on the assigned
lane and latest interface mode, it sends IPC command to the PMC through
PMC driver/API. The PMC acts as a proxy for R/W on behalf of the driver.
- intel_set_reg_access(): Set the register access to the available TSN
interface.

Note that given the current unpatched driver structure,
plat_dat->fix_mac_speed will always be populated with
kmb_eth_fix_mac_speed(), even when no clock is present. We preserve
this behaviour in this patch by always initialising plat_dat->clk_tx_i
and plat_dat->set_clk_tx_rate.

Several stmmac sub-drivers which support RGMII follow the same pattern.
They calculate the transmit clock rate, and then call clk_set_rate().
Analysis of several implementation documents suggests that the platform
is responsible for providing the transmit clock to the DWMAC core's
clk_tx_i. The expected rates are:
10Mbps 100Mbps 1Gbps
MII 2.5MHz 25MHz
RMII 2.5MHz 25MHz
GMII 125MHz
RGMI 2.5MHz 25MHz 125MHz
It seems some platforms require this clock to be manually configured,
but there are outputs from the MAC core that indicate the speed, so a
platform may use these to automatically configure the clock. Thus, we
can't just provide one solution to configure this clock rate.
Moreover, the clock may need to be derived from one of several sources
depending on the interface mode.
Provide a platform hook that is passed the transmit clock, interface
mode and speed.

pcim_iomap_regions() should receive the driver's name as its third
parameter, not the PCI device's name.
Define the driver name with a macro and use it at the appropriate

thead was checking that the stmmac_clk rate was a multiple of the
RGMII rates for 1G and 100M, but didn't check for 10M. Rather than
use this with hard-coded speeds, check that the calculated divisor
gives the required rate by multplying the transmit clock rate back
up to the stmmac clock rate and checking that it agrees.

The maximum numbers of each Rx and Tx queues are defined by
MTL_MAX_RX_QUEUES and MTL_MAX_TX_QUEUES respectively.
There are some places where Rx and Tx are used in reverse. There is no
issue when the Tx and Rx macros have the same value, but should correct
usage of macros for maximum queue number to keep consistency and prevent
unexpected mistakes.

stmmac_init_dma_engine() uses dev_err() which leads to errors being
reported as e.g:
dwc-eth-dwmac 2490000.ethernet: Failed to reset the dma

stmmac_init_dma_engine() is only called from stmmac_hw_setup() which

Enable launch time (Time-Based Scheduling) support for XDP zero copy via
the XDP Tx metadata framework.
This patch has been tested with tools/testing/selftests/bpf/xdp_hw_metadata
on Intel Tiger Lake platform. Below are the test steps and result.
Test 1: Send a single packet with the launch time set to 1 s in the future.

1. On the DUT, start the xdp_hw_metadata selftest application:

priv->plat->fix_mac_speed() is called from stmmac_mac_link_up(), which
is passed the speed as an "int". However, fix_mac_speed() implicitly
casts this to an unsigned int. Some platform glue code print this value
using %u, others with %d. Some implicitly cast it back to an int, and
others to u32.
Good practice is to use one type and only one type to represent a value
being passed around a driver.
Switch all of these over to consistently use "int" when dealing with a
speed passed from stmmac_mac_link_up(), even though the speed will
always be positive.

priv->flow_ctrl is only accessed by stmmac_main.c, and the only place
that it is read is in stmmac_mac_flow_ctrl(). This function is only
called from stmmac_mac_link_up() which always sets priv->flow_ctrl
immediately before calling this function.
Therefore, initialising this at probe time is ineffectual because it
will always be overwritten before it's read. As such, the "flow_ctrl"
module parameter has been useless for some time. Rather than remove
the module parameter, which would risk module load failure, change the
description to indicate that it is obsolete, and warn if it is set by
userspace.
Moreover, storing the value in the stmmac_priv has no benefit as it's
set and then immediately read stmmac_mac_flow_ctrl(). Instead, pass it
as a parameter to this function..

priv->pause corresponds with "pause_time" in the 802.3 specification,
and is also called "pause_time" in the various MAC backends. For
consistency, use the same name in the core stmmac code.
Clarify the units of the "pause" module parameter which sets up this
struct member to indicate that it's in units of the pause_quanta
defined by 802.3, which is 512 bit times.

hrtimer_setup() takes the callback function pointer as argument and
initializes the timer completely.
Replace hrtimer_init() and the open coded initialization of
hrtimer::function with the new setup mechanism.

Now for dwmac-loongson {tx,rx}_fifo_size are uninitialised, which means
zero. This means dwmac-loongson doesn't support changing MTU because in
stmmac_change_mtu() it requires the fifo size be no less than MTU. Thus,
set the correct tx_fifo_size and rx_fifo_size for it (16KB multiplied by
queue counts).
Here {tx,rx}_fifo_size is initialised with the initial value (also the
maximum value) of {tx,rx}_queues_to_use. So it will keep as 16KB if we
don't change the queue count, and will be larger than 16KB if we change
(decrease) the queue count. However stmmac_change_mtu() still work well
with current logic (MTU cannot be larger than 16KB for stmmac).

Commit df542f6693 ("net: stmmac: Switch to zero-copy in
non-XDP RX path") makes DMA write received frame into buffer at offset
of NET_SKB_PAD and sets page pool parameters to sync from offset of
NET_SKB_PAD. But when Header Payload Split is enabled, the header is
written at offset of NET_SKB_PAD, while the payload is written at
offset of zero. Uncorrect offset parameter for the payload breaks dma
coherence [1] since both CPU and DMA touch the page buffer from offset
of zero which is not handled by the page pool sync parameter.
And in case the DMA cannot split the received frame, for example,
a large L2 frame, pp_params.max_len should grow to match the tail
of entire frame.

Add a new method to control LPI mode configuration. This is architected
to have three configuration states: LPI disabled, LPI forced (active),
or LPI under hardware timer control. This reflects the three modes
which the main body of the driver wishes to deal with.
We pass in whether transmit clock gating should be used, and the
hardware timer value in microseconds to be set when using hardware
timer control.

Phylink will not call the mac_disable_tx_lpi() and mac_enable_tx_lpi()
methods randomly - the first method to be called will be the enable
method, and then after, the disable method will be called once between
subsequent enable calls. Thus there is a guaranteed ordering.
Therefore, we know the previous state of priv->eee_enabled, and can
remove it from both methods.

The tests for priv->dma_cap.eee in stmmac_mac_{en,dis}able_tx_lpi()
is useless as these methods will only be called when using phylink
managed EEE, and that will only be enabled if the LPI capabilities
in phylink_config have been populated during initialisation. This
only occurs when priv->dma_cap.eee was true.
As priv->dma_cap.eee remains constant during the lifetime of the driver
instance, there is no need to re-check it in these methods.

LPIATE enables the hardware timer for entering LPI mode. To sure that
the correct mode is used, clear LPIATE when using manual/software-timed
mode to prevent the hardware using the timer.
stmmac_main.c avoids this being a problem at the moment by calling
stmmac_set_eee_lpi_timer(..., 0) before switching to software mode.
We no longer need to call stmmac_set_eee_lpi_timer(..., 0) when
disabling EEE as stmmac_reset_eee_mode() will now clear all LPI
settings.

When EEE is disabled, we call stmmac_set_eee_lpi_timer(..., 0).
For dwmac4, this will result in LPIATE being cleared, but LPIEN and
LPITXA being set, causing LPI mode to be signalled (if it wasn't
before).
For others MACs, stmmac_set_eee_lpi_timer() does nothing, which means
that LPI mode will continue to be signalled despite the expectation
for it to be disabled.
In both cases, LPI mode will be terminated when the transmitter has
a packet to send, and LPIEN will be cleared by hardware.
Call stmmac_reset_eee_mode() to ensure that LPI mode is disabled when
EEE mode is requested to be disabled.

This reverts commit 8865d22656, which caused breakage for platforms
which are not using xgmac2 or gmac4. Only these two cores have the
capability of providing the FIFO sizes from hardware capability fields
(which are provided in priv->dma_cap.[tr]x_fifo_size.)
All other cores can not, which results in these two fields containing
zero. We also have platforms that do not provide a value in
priv->plat->[tr]x_fifo_size, resulting in these also being zero.
This causes the new tests introduced by the reverted commit to fail,
and produce e.g.:
stmmaceth f0804000.eth: Can't specify Rx FIFO size
An example of such a platform which fails is QEMU's npcm750-evb.
This uses dwmac1000 which, as noted above, does not have the capability
to provide the FIFO sizes from hardware.
Therefore, revert the commit to maintain compatibility with the way
the driver used to work.

bindings (all acked by the different subsystem maintainers), hence the
merge conflict with the rust tree, and some driver core api updates to
mark things as const, which will also require some fixups due to new
stuff coming in through other trees in this merge window.
There are also a bunch of debugfs updates from Al, and there is at least
one user that does have a regression with these, but Al is working on
tracking down the fix for it. In my use (and everyone else's linux-next
use), it does not seem like a big issue at the moment.

We are almost at the "write a real driver in rust" stage now,
depending on what you want to do.

When Tx/Rx FIFO size is not specified in advance, the driver checks if
the value is zero and sets the hardware capability value in functions
where that value is used.
Consolidate the check and settings into function stmmac_hw_init() and
remove redundant other statements.
If FIFO size is zero and the hardware capability also doesn't have upper
limit values, return with an error message.

Tx/Rx FIFO size is specified by the parameter "{tx,rx}-fifo-depth" from
stmmac_platform layer.
However, these values are constrained by upper limits determined by the
capabilities of each hardware feature. There is a risk that the upper
bits will be truncated due to the calculation, so it's appropriate to
limit them to the upper limit values and display a warning message.
This only works if the hardware capability has the upper limit values.

The number of MTL queues to use is specified by the parameter
"snps,{tx,rx}-queues-to-use" from stmmac_platform layer.
However, the maximum numbers of queues are constrained by upper limits
determined by the capability of each hardware feature. It's appropriate
to limit the values not to exceed the upper limit values and display
a warning message.
This only works if the hardware capability has the upper limit values.

Convert stmmac to use phylink managed EEE support rather than delving
into phylib:
1. Move the stmmac_eee_init() calls out of mac_link_down() and
mac_link_up() methods into the new mac_{enable,disable}_lpi()
methods. We leave the calls to stmmac_set_eee_pls() in place as
these change bits which tell the EEE hardware when the link came
up or down, and is used for a separate hardware timer. However,
symmetrically conditionalise this with priv->dma_cap.eee.
2. Update the current LPI timer each time LPI is enabled - which we
need for software-timed LPI.
3. With phylink managed EEE, phylink manages the receive clock stop
configuration via phylink_config.eee_rx_clk_stop_enable. Set this
appropriately which makes the call to phy_eee_rx_clock_stop()
redundant.
4. From what I can work out, all supported interfaces support LPI
signalling on stmmac (there's no restriction implemented.) It
also appears to support LPI at all full duplex speeds at or over
100M. Set these capabilities.
5. The default timer appears to be derived from a module parameter.
Set this the same, although we keep code that reconfigures the
timer in stmmac_init_phy().
6. Remove the direct call to phy_support_eee(), which phylink will do
on the drivers behalf if phylink_config.eee_enabled_default is set.

The size of DMA descriptors is 32 bytes at most.
net_prefetch() for received frames, and keep prefetch() for descriptors.
This patch brings ~4.8% driver performance improvement in a TCP RX
throughput test with iPerf tool on a single isolated Cortex-A65 CPU
core, 2.92 Gbits/sec increased to 3.06 Gbits/sec.

Current code prefetches cache lines for the received frame first, and
then dma_sync_single_for_cpu() against this frame, this is wrong.
Cache prefetch should be triggered after dma_sync_single_for_cpu().
This patch brings ~2.8% driver performance improvement in a TCP RX
throughput test with iPerf tool on a single isolated Cortex-A65 CPU
core, 2.84 Gbits/sec increased to 2.92 Gbits/sec.

DMA engine will always write no more than dma_buf_sz bytes of a received
frame into a page buffer, the remaining spaces are unused or used by CPU
exclusively.
Setting page_pool_params.max_len to almost the full size of page(s) helps
nothing more, but wastes more CPU cycles on cache maintenance.
For a standard MTU of 1500, then dma_buf_sz is assigned to 1536, and this
patch brings ~16.9% driver performance improvement in a TCP RX
throughput test with iPerf tool on a single isolated Cortex-A65 CPU
core, from 2.43 Gbits/sec increased to 2.84 Gbits/sec.

Existing primitive has several problems:
1) calling conventions are clumsy - it returns a dentry reference
that is either identical to its second argument or is an ERR_PTR(-E...);
in both cases no refcount changes happen. Inconvenient for users and
bug-prone; it would be better to have it return 0 on success and -E... on
failure.
2) it allows cross-directory moves; however, no such caller have
ever materialized and considering the way debugfs is used, it's unlikely
to happen in the future. What's more, any such caller would have fun
issues to deal with wrt interplay with recursive removal. It also makes
the calling conventions clumsier...
3) tautological rename fails; the callers have no race-free way
to deal with that.
4) new name must have been formed by the caller; quite a few
callers have it done by sprintf/kasprintf/etc., ending up with considerable
boilerplate.
Proposed replacement: int debugfs_change_name(dentry, fmt, ...). All callers
convert to that easily, and it's simpler internally.
IMO debugfs_rename() should go; if we ever get a real-world use case for
cross-directory moves in debugfs, we can always look into the right way
to handle that.

Combine stmmac_enable_eee_mode() with stmmac_try_to_start_sw_lpi()
which makes the code easier to read and the flow more logical. We
can now trivially see that if the transmit queues are busy, we
(re-)start the eee_ctrl_timer. Otherwise, if the transmit path is
not already in LPI mode, we ask the hardware to enter LPI mode.
I believe that now we can see better what is going on here, this
shows that there is a bug with the software LPI timer implementation.
The LPI timer is supposed to define how long after the last
transmittion completed before we start signalling LPI. However,
this code structure shows that if all transmit queues are empty,
and stmmac_try_to_start_sw_lpi() is called immediately after cleaning
the transmit queue, we will instruct the hardware to start signalling
LPI immediately.

As mentioned in "net: stmmac: correct priv->eee_sw_timer_en setting",
we can simplify some fast-path tests.
The transmit cleaning path checks whether EEE is enabled, the transmit
path is not in LPI mode, and that we're using software timed mode.
Since the above mentioned commit, checking whether EEE is enabled is
no longer necessary as priv->eee_sw_timer_en will be false when EEE is
disabled. Simplify this test.

If we are disabling EEE/LPI, then we should not be enabling software
mode. The only time when we should is if EEE is active, and we are
wanting to use software-timed EEE mode.
Therefore, in the disable path of stmmac_eee_init(), ensure that
priv->eee_sw_timer_en is set false as we are going to be calling
del_timer_sync() on the timer.
This will allow us to simplify some fast-path tests in later patches.

There is also no real benefit in printing errors on missing syscon
argument, because this is done just too late: runtime check on
static/build-time data. Dtschema and Devicetree bindings offer the
static/build-time check for this already.

phylink_stop() will cause phylink to call the mac_link_down() operation
before phylink_stop() returns. As mac_link_down() will call
stmmac_eee_init(false), this will set both priv->eee_active and
priv->eee_enabled to be false, deleting the eee_ctrl_timer if
priv->eee_enabled was previously set.
As stmmac_release() calls phylink_stop() before checking whether
priv->eee_enabled is true, this is a condition that can never be
satisfied, and thus the code within this if() block will never be
executed. Remove it.

All call sites for stmmac_eee_init() assign the return code to
priv->eee_enabled. Rather than having this coded at each call site,
move the assignment inside stmmac_eee_init().
Since stmmac_init_eee() takes priv->lock before checking the state of
priv->eee_enabled, move the assignment within the locked region. Also,
stmmac_suspend() checks the state of this member under the lock. While
two concurrent calls to stmmac_init_eee() aren't possible, there is
a possibility that stmmac_suspend() may run concurrently with a change
of priv->eee_enabled unless we modify it under the lock.

priv->eee_tw_timer is only assigned during initialisation to a
constant value (STMMAC_DEFAULT_TWT_LS) and then never changed.
Remove priv->eee_tw_timer, and instead use STMMAC_DEFAULT_TWT_LS
for both uses in stmmac_eee_init().

Report the number of EEE error statistics in the xstats even when EEE

stmmac_disable_eee_mode() is now only called from stmmac_xmit() when
both priv->tx_path_in_lpi_mode and priv->eee_sw_timer_en are true.
Therefore:
if (!priv->eee_sw_timer_en)
in stmmac_disable_eee_mode() will never be true, so this is dead code.
Remove it, and rename the function to indicate that it now only deals
with software based EEE mode.

Setting edata->tx_lpi_enabled in stmmac_ethtool_op_get_eee() gets
overwritten by phylib, so there's no point setting this.
In stmmac_ethtool_op_set_eee(), now that stmmac is using the result of
phylib's evaluation of EEE, there is no need to handle anything in the
ethtool EEE ops other than calling through to the appropriate phylink
function, which will pass on to phylib the users request.
As stmmac_disable_eee_mode() is now no longer called from outside
stmmac_main.c, make it static.

Make stmmac EEE depend on phylib's evaluation of user settings and PHY
negotiation, as indicated by phy->enable_tx_lpi. This will ensure when
phylib has evaluated that the user has disabled LPI, phy_init_eee()
will not be called, and priv->eee_active will be false, causing LPI/EEE
to be disabled.
This is an interim measure - phy_init_eee() will be removed in a later
patch.

Since eee_timer is used to initialise priv->tx_lpi_timer, this also
should be unsigned to avoid a negative number being interpreted as a
very large positive number. Note that this makes the check for negative
numbers passed in as a module parameter redundant, and passing a
negative number will now produce a large delay rather than the
default. Since the default is used without an argument, passing a
negative number would be quite obscure. However, if users do, then
this will need to be revisited.

The ethtool interface uses u32 for tx_lpi_timer, and so does phylib.
Use u32 to store this internally within stmmac rather than "int"
which could misinterpret large values.
Correct "value" in dwmac4_set_eee_lpi_entry_timer() to use u32
rather than int, which is derived from tx_lpi_timer. Even though this
path won't be used with values larger than STMMAC_ET_MAX, this brings
consistency of type usage to the stmmac code for this variable.
We leave eee_timer unchanged for now, with the assumption that values
up to INT_MAX will safely fit in a u32.

When stmmac_ethtool_op_get_eee() is called, stmmac sets the tx_lpi_timer
and tx_lpi_enabled members, and then calls into phylink and thus phylib.
phylib overwrites these members.
phylib will also cause a link down/link up transition when settings
that impact the MAC have been changed.
Convert stmmac to use the tx_lpi_timer setting in struct phy_device,
updating priv->tx_lpi_timer each time when the link comes up, rather
than trying to maintain this user setting itself. We initialise the
phylib tx_lpi_timer setting by doing a get_ee-modify-set_eee sequence
with the last known priv->tx_lpi_timer value. In order for this to work
correctly, we also need this member to be initialised earlier.
As stmmac_eee_init() is no longer called outside of stmmac_main.c, make
it static.

If a frame is going to be discarded by driver, this frame is never touched
by driver and the cache lines never become dirty obviously,
page_pool_recycle_direct() wastes CPU cycles on unnecessary calling of
page_pool_dma_sync_for_device() to sync entire frame.
page_pool_put_page() with sync_size setting to 0 is the proper method.

The TCP Segmentation Offload (TSO) engine is an optional function in
DWMAC cores, it is implemented for dwmac4 and dwxgmac2 only, ancient
dwmac100 and dwmac1000 are not supported by hardware. Current driver
code checks priv->dma_cap.tsoen which is read from MAC_HW_Feature1
register to determine if TSO is enabled in hardware configurations,
if (!priv->dma_cap.tsoen) driver never sets NETIF_F_TSO for net_device.
This patch never affects dwmac100/dwmac1000 and their stmmac_desc_ops:
ndesc_ops/enh_desc_ops, since TSO is never supported by them two.
The DMA AXI address width of DWMAC cores can be configured to
32-bit/40-bit/48-bit, then the format of DMA transmit descriptors
get a little different between 32-bit and 40-bit/48-bit.
Current driver code checks priv->dma_cap.addr64 to use certain format
with certain configuration.
This patch converts the format of DMA transmit descriptors on dwmac4
and dwxgmac2 that the DMA AXI address width is configured to 32-bit (as
described by function comments of stmmac_tso_xmit() in current code) to
a more generic format (see updated function comments after this patch)
which is actually already used on 40-bit/48-bit platforms to provide
better compatibility and make code flow cleaner in TSO TX routine.
Another interesting finding, struct stmmac_desc_ops is a common abstract
interface to maintain descriptors, we should avoid the direct assignment
of descriptor members (e.g. desc->des0), stmmac_set_desc_addr() is the
proper method yet. This patch tries to improve this by the way.

If the rmii_refclk_ext boolean is set, configure the ENET QOS TX_CLK pin
direction to input. Otherwise, it defaults to output.
That mirrors what is already happening for the imx8mp in the
imx8mp_set_intf_mode function.

Current implementation of stmmac_probe_config_dt() does not release the
OF node reference obtained by of_parse_phandle() in some error paths.
The problem is that some error paths call stmmac_remove_config_dt() to
clean up but others use and unwind ladder. These two types of error
handling have not kept in sync and have been a recurring source of bugs.
Re-write the error handling in stmmac_probe_config_dt() to use an unwind
ladder. Consequently, stmmac_remove_config_dt() is not needed anymore,
thus remove it.
This bug was found by an experimental verification tool that I am
developing.

After commit 2af6106ae9 ("net: stmmac: Introducing support for Page
Pool"), the driver always copies frames to get a better performance,
zero-copy for RX frames is no more, then these code turned to be
useless and users of ethtool may get confused about the unhandled
rx-copybreak parameter.

The extern declarations should be in a header file that corresponds to
their definition, move these extern declarations to its header file.
Some of them have nowhere to go, so move them to hwif.h since they are
referenced in hwif.c only.
dwmac100_* dwmac1000_* dwmac4_* dwmac410_* dwmac510_* stay in hwif.h,
otherwise you will be flooded with name conflicts from dwmac100.h,
dwmac1000.h and dwmac4.h if hwif.c try to #include these .h files.
Compile tested only.
No functional change intended.

Commit 66600fac7a ("net: stmmac: TSO: Fix unbalanced DMA map/unmap
for non-paged SKB data") moved the assignment of tx_skbuff_dma[]'s
members to be later in stmmac_tso_xmit().
The buf (dma cookie) and len stored in this structure are passed to
dma_unmap_single() by stmmac_tx_clean(). The DMA API requires that
the dma cookie passed to dma_unmap_single() is the same as the value
returned from dma_map_single(). However, by moving the assignment
later, this is not the case when priv->dma_cap.addr64 > 32 as "des"
is offset by proto_hdr_len.
This causes problems such as:
dwc-eth-dwmac 2490000.ethernet eth0: Tx DMA map failed
and with DMA_API_DEBUG enabled:
DMA-API: dwc-eth-dwmac 2490000.ethernet: device driver tries to +free DMA memory it has not allocated [device address=0x000000ffffcf65c0] [size=66 bytes]
Fix this by maintaining "des" as the original DMA cookie, and use
tso_des to pass the offset DMA cookie to stmmac_tso_allocator().

On DWMAC3 and later, there's a RX Watchdog interrupt that's used for
interrupt coalescing. It's known to be buggy on some platforms, and
dwmac-socfpga appears to be one of them. Changing the interrupt
coalescing from ethtool doesn't appear to have any effect here.
Without disabling RIWT (Received Interrupt Watchdog Timer, I
believe...), we observe latencies while receiving traffic that amount to
around ~0.4ms. This was discovered with NTP but can be easily reproduced
with a simple ping. Without this patch :
64 bytes from 192.168.5.2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.657 ms
With this patch :
64 bytes from 192.168.5.2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.254 ms

If the clock dwmac->tx_clk was not enabled in intel_eth_plat_probe,
it should not be disabled in any path.
Conversely, if it was enabled in intel_eth_plat_probe, it must be disabled
in all error paths to ensure proper cleanup.

Indicate that dwmac_socfpga has a gmac. This will make sure that
gmac-specific interrupt processing is done, including timestamp
interrupt handling. Without this, the external snapshot interrupt is
never ack'd and we have an interrupt storm on external snapshot event.

The PTP_TCR (Timestamp Control Register) is used to configure several
features related to packet timestamping.
On one hand, it configures the 1588 packet processing, to indicate what
types of frames should be timestamped (all, only 1588v1 or 1588v2, using
L2 or L4 timestamping, on IPv4 or IPv6, etc.). This is congfigured
usually through the ioctl / ndo dedicated for such setup. This
configuration is done by setting some fields in that register, that seem
to behave the same way on all dwmac variants, including DWMAC1000.
On the other hand, and only on DWMAC1000 apparently, some fields in that
register are used to configure external snapshots (bits 24/25).
On DWMAC4 and others, these fields are reserved and external
snapshots are configured through a dedicated register that simply
doesn't seem to exist on DWMAC1000.
This configuration is done in the dwmac1000-specific ptp_clock_info ops
(cf dwmac1000_ptp_enable()).
So to avoid the timestamping configuration interfering with the external
snapshots, this commit makes sure that the config_hw_tstamping only
configures the relevant bits in PTP_TCR, so that the DWMAC1000
timestamping can correctly rely on these otherwise reserved fields.

The default configuration for the interrupts on dwmac1000 have the
timestamping interrupt masked. Now that the timestamping has been
adapted to dwmac1000, enable the timestamping interrupt on these
platforms.
On dwmac1000, the external snapshot interrupt is configured through a
dedicated bit, that is set as reserved on other dwmac variants. The
timestaming interrupt is acknowledged by reading the
GMAC3_X_TIMESTAMP_STATUS register.
Make sure that this interrupt is enabled when snapshot is enabled, and
masked when disabled.

In GMAC3_X, the timestamping configuration differs from GMAC4 in the
layout of the registers accessed to grab the number of snapshots in FIFO
as well as the register offset to grab the aux snapshot timestamp.
Introduce dedicated ops to configure timestamping on dwmac100 and
dwmac1000. The latency correction doesn't seem to exist on GMAC3, so its
corresponding operation isn't populated.

The PTP configuration for GMAC3_X differs from the other implementations
in several ways :
- There's only one external snapshot trigger
- The snapshot configuration is done through the PTP_TCR register,
whereas the other dwmac variants have a dedicated ACR (auxiliary
control reg) for that purpose
- The layout for the PTP_TCR register also differs, as bits 24/25 are
used for the snapshot configuration. These bits are reserved on other
variants.
On GMAC3_X, we also can't discover the number of snapshot triggers
automatically.
The GMAC3_X has one PPS output, however it's configuration isn't
supported yet so report 0 n_per_out for now.
Introduce a dedicated set of ptp_clock_info ops and configuration
parameters to reflect these differences specific to GMAC3_X.
This was tested on dwmac_socfpga.

number of output pps and auxiliary snapshots. Allow these parameters to
be defined in default ptp_clock_info, and let them be updated only when
the feature discovery yielded a result.

The stmmac_ptp_clock_ops are copied into the stmmac_priv structure
before being registered to the PTP core. Some adjustments are made prior
to that, such as the number of snapshots or max adjustment parameters.
Instead of modifying the global definition, then copying into the local
private data, let's first copy then modify the local parameters.

The Receive Watchdog Timeout (RWT, bit[9]) is not part of Abnormal
Interrupt Summary (AIS). Move the RWT handling out of the AIS
condition statement.
From databook, the AIS is the logical OR of the following interrupt bits:
- Bit 1: Transmit Process Stopped
- Bit 7: Receive Buffer Unavailable
- Bit 8: Receive Process Stopped
- Bit 10: Early Transmit Interrupt
- Bit 12: Fatal Bus Error
- Bit 13: Context Descriptor Error

Commit a23aa04042 ("net: stmmac: ethtool: Fixed calltrace caused by
unbalanced disable_irq_wake calls") introduced checks to prevent
unbalanced enable and disable IRQ wake calls. However it only
initialized the auxiliary variable on one of the paths,
stmmac_request_irq_multi_msi(), missing the other,
stmmac_request_irq_single().
Add the same initialization on stmmac_request_irq_single() to prevent
"Unbalanced IRQ <x> wake disable" warnings from being printed the first
time disable_irq_wake() is called on platforms that run on that code
path.

The dwmac 3.72a is an ip version that can be found on Intel/Altera Arria10
SoCs. Going by the hardware features "snps,multicast-filter-bins" and
"snps,perfect-filter-entries" shall be supported. Thus add a
compatibility flag, and extend coverage of the driver for the 3.72a.

A single "priv->dma_cap.fpesel" checks HW capability only,
while both HW capability and driver capability shall be
checked by later refactoring to prevent unexpected behavior
for FPE on unsupported MAC cores and keep FPE as an optional
implementation for current and new MAC cores.

In case the non-paged data of a SKB carries protocol header and protocol
payload to be transmitted on a certain platform that the DMA AXI address
width is configured to 40-bit/48-bit, or the size of the non-paged data
is bigger than TSO_MAX_BUFF_SIZE on a certain platform that the DMA AXI
address width is configured to 32-bit, then this SKB requires at least
two DMA transmit descriptors to serve it.
For example, three descriptors are allocated to split one DMA buffer
mapped from one piece of non-paged data:
dma_desc[N + 0],
dma_desc[N + 1],
dma_desc[N + 2].
Then three elements of tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[] will be allocated to hold
extra information to be reused in stmmac_tx_clean():
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 0],
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 1],
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 2].
Now we focus on tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[entry].buf, which is the DMA buffer
address returned by DMA mapping call. stmmac_tx_clean() will try to
unmap the DMA buffer _ONLY_IF_ tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[entry].buf
is a valid buffer address.
The expected behavior that saves DMA buffer address of this non-paged
data to tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[entry].buf is:
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 0].buf = NULL;
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 1].buf = NULL;
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 2].buf = dma_map_single();
Unfortunately, the current code misbehaves like this:
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 0].buf = dma_map_single();
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 1].buf = NULL;
tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 2].buf = NULL;
On the stmmac_tx_clean() side, when dma_desc[N + 0] is closed by the
DMA engine, tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[N + 0].buf is a valid buffer address
obviously, then the DMA buffer will be unmapped immediately.
There may be a rare case that the DMA engine does not finish the
pending dma_desc[N + 1], dma_desc[N + 2] yet. Now things will go
horribly wrong, DMA is going to access a unmapped/unreferenced memory
region, corrupted data will be transmited or iommu fault will be
triggered :(
In contrast, the for-loop that maps SKB fragments behaves perfectly
as expected, and that is how the driver should do for both non-paged
data and paged frags actually.
This patch corrects DMA map/unmap sequences by fixing the array index
for tx_q->tx_skbuff_dma[entry].buf when assigning DMA buffer address.
Tested and verified on DWXGMAC CORE 3.20a

Currently reset state configuration of split header works fine for
non-tagged packets and we see no corruption in payload of any size
We need additional programming sequence with reset configuration to
handle VLAN tagged packets to avoid corruption in payload for packets
of size greater than 256 bytes.
Without this change ping application complains about corruption
in payload when the size of the VLAN packet exceeds 256 bytes.
With this change tagged and non-tagged packets of any size works fine
and there is no corruption seen.

The Tegra MGBE driver sometimes fails to initialize, reporting the
following error, and as a result, it is unable to acquire an IP
address with DHCP:
tegra-mgbe 6800000.ethernet: timeout waiting for link to become ready
As per the recommendation from the Tegra hardware design team, fix this
issue by:
- clearing the PHY_RDY bit before setting the CDR_RESET bit and then
setting PHY_RDY bit before clearing CDR_RESET bit. This ensures valid
data is present at UPHY RX inputs before starting the CDR lock.
- adding the required delays when bringing up the UPHY lane. Note we
need to use delays here because there is no alternative, such as
polling, for these cases. Using the usleep_range() instead of ndelay()
as sleeping is preferred over busy wait loop.
Without this change we would see link failures on boot sometimes as
often as 1 in 5 boots. With this fix we have not observed any failures
in over 1000 boots.

Add DW QoS Eth v4/v5 ip payload error statistics, and rename descriptor
bit macro because v4/v5 descriptor IPCE bit claims ip checksum
error or TCP/UDP/ICMP segment length error.
Here is bit description from DW QoS Eth data book(Part 19.6.2.2)
bit7 IPCE: IP Payload Error
When this bit is programmed, it indicates either of the following:
1).The 16-bit IP payload checksum (that is, the TCP, UDP, or ICMP
checksum) calculated by the MAC does not match the corresponding
checksum field in the received segment.
2).The TCP, UDP, or ICMP segment length does not match the payload
length value in the IP Header field.
3).The TCP, UDP, or ICMP segment length is less than minimum allowed
segment length for TCP, UDP, or ICMP.

The commit describes that we don't have to sync the page when
recycling, and it tries to optimize that case. But we do need
to sync after allocation. Recycling side should be changed to
pass the right sync size instead.

After commit 0edb555a65 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove()
return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for
platform drivers.
Convert all platform drivers below drivers/net/ethernet to use
.remove(), with the eventual goal to drop struct
platform_driver::remove_new(). As .remove() and .remove_new() have the
same prototypes, conversion is done by just changing the structure
member name in the driver initializer.

Increase the timeout for checking the busy bit of the VLAN Tag register
from 10µs to 500ms. This change is necessary to accommodate scenarios
where Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) is enabled.
Overnight testing revealed that when EEE is active, the busy bit can
remain set for up to approximately 300ms. The new 500ms timeout provides
a safety margin.

Commit 5fabb01207 ("net: stmmac: Add initial XDP support") sets
PP_FLAG_DMA_SYNC_DEV flag for page_pool unconditionally,
page_pool_recycle_direct() will call page_pool_dma_sync_for_device()
on every page even the page is not going to be reused by XDP program.
When XDP is not enabled, the page which holds the received buffer
will be recycled once the buffer is copied into new SKB by
skb_copy_to_linear_data(), then the MAC core will never reuse this
page any longer. Always setting PP_FLAG_DMA_SYNC_DEV wastes CPU cycles
on unnecessary calling of page_pool_dma_sync_for_device().
After this patch, up to 9% noticeable performance improvement was observed
on certain platforms.

The commit b8c43360f6 ("net: stmmac: No need to calculate speed divider
when offload is disabled") allows the "port_transmit_rate_kbps" to be
set to a value of 0, which is then passed to the "div_s64" function when
tc-cbs is disabled. This leads to a zero-division error.
When tc-cbs is disabled, the idleslope, sendslope, and credit values the
credit values are not required to be configured. Therefore, adding a return
statement after setting the txQ mode to DCB when tc-cbs is disabled would
prevent a zero-division error.

Drop driver defined stmmac_fpe_state, and switch to common
ethtool_mm_verify_status for local TX verification status.
Local side and remote side verification processes are completely
independent. There is no reason at all to keep a local state and
a remote state.
Add a spinlock to avoid races among ISR, timer, link update
and register configuration.
This patch is based on Vladimir Oltean's proposal.

In the INITIAL state, the timer sends MPACKET_VERIFY. Eventually the
stmmac_fpe_event_status() IRQ fires and advances the state to VERIFYING,
then rearms the timer after verify_time ms. If a subsequent IRQ comes in
and modifies the state to SUCCEEDED after getting MPACKET_RESPONSE, the
timer sees this. It must enable the EFPE bit now. Otherwise, it
decrements the verify_limit counter and tries again. Eventually it
moves the status to FAILED, from which the IRQ cannot move it anywhere
else, except for another stmmac_fpe_apply() call.

This callback doesn't seem to serve much purpose, and prevents things
like:
- systemd.link files from disabling autonegotiation
- carrier detection in NetworkManager
- any ethtool setting
prior to userspace bringing the link up.
The only fear I can think of is accessing unclocked resources due to
pm_runtime, but ethtool ioctls handle that as of commit
f32a213765 ("ethtool: runtime-resume netdev parent before ethtool ioctl ops")

The new generation Loongson LS2K2000 SoC and LS7A2000 chipset are
equipped with the network controllers called Loongson GNET. It's the
single and multi DMA-channels Loongson GMAC but with a PHY attached.

Let's update the Loongson DWMAC driver to supporting the new Loongson
GNET controller. The change is mainly trivial: the driver shall be
bound to the PCIe device with DID 0x7a13, and the device-specific
setup() method shall be called for it. The only peculiarity concerns
the integrated PHY speed change procedure. The PHY has a weird problem
with switching from the low speeds to 1000Mbps mode. The speedup
procedure requires the PHY-link re-negotiation. So the suggested
change provide the device-specific fix_mac_speed() method to overcome
the problem.

The Loongson DWMAC driver currently supports the Loongson GMAC
devices (based on the DW GMAC v3.50a/v3.73a IP-core) installed to the
LS2K1000 SoC and LS7A1000 chipset. But recently a new generation
LS2K2000 SoC was released with the new version of the Loongson GMAC
synthesized in. The new controller is based on the DW GMAC v3.73a
IP-core with the AV-feature enabled, which implies the multi
DMA-channels support. The multi DMA-channels feature has the next
vendor-specific peculiarities:
1. Split up Tx and Rx DMA IRQ status/mask bits:

3. There are eight DMA-channels available meanwhile the Synopsys DW
GMAC IP-core supports up to three DMA-channels.
4. It's possible to have each DMA-channel IRQ independently delivered.
The MSI IRQs must be utilized for that.
Thus in order to have the multi-channels Loongson GMAC controllers
supported let's modify the Loongson DWMAC driver in accordance with
all the peculiarities described above:
1. Create the multi-channels Loongson GMAC-specific
stmmac_dma_ops::dma_interrupt()
stmmac_dma_ops::init_chan()
callbacks due to the non-standard DMA IRQ CSR flags layout.
2. Create the Loongson DWMAC-specific platform setup() method
which gets to initialize the DMA-ops with the dwmac1000_dma_ops
instance and overrides the callbacks described in 1. The method also
overrides the custom Synopsys ID with the real one in order to have
the rest of the HW-specific callbacks correctly detected by the driver
core.
3. Make sure the platform setup() method enables the flow control and
duplex modes supported by the controller.

The Loongson GMAC driver currently supports the network controllers
installed on the LS2K1000 SoC and LS7A1000 chipset, for which the GMAC
devices are required to be defined in the platform device tree source.
But Loongson machines may have UEFI (implies ACPI) or PMON/UBOOT
(implies FDT) as the system bootloaders. In order to have both system
configurations support let's extend the driver functionality with the
case of having the Loongson GMAC probed on the PCI bus with no device
tree node defined for it. That requires to make the device DT-node
optional, to rely on the IRQ line detected by the PCI core and to
have the MDIO bus ID calculated using the PCIe Domain+BDF numbers.
In order to have the device probe() and remove() methods less
complicated let's move the DT- and ACPI-specific code to the
respective sub-functions.

The Loongson GNET device support is about to be added in one of the
next commits. As another preparation for that introduce the PCI device
info data with a setup() callback performing the device-specific
platform data initializations. Currently it is utilized for the
already supported Loongson GMAC device only.

Reference and PTP clocks rate of the Loongson GMAC devices is 125MHz.
(So is in the GNET devices which support is about to be added.) Set
the respective plat_stmmacenet_data field up in accordance with that
so to have the coalesce command and timestamping work correctly.

The driver currently supports the chips with the Loongson GMAC network
device synthesized with a single DMA-channel available. As a
preparation before adding the Loongson GNET support detach the
Loongson GMAC-specific platform data initializations to the
loongson_gmac_data() method and preserve the common settings in the
loongson_default_data().
While at it drop the return value statement from the
loongson_default_data() method as redundant.
Note there is no intermediate vendor-specific PCS in between the MAC
and PHY on Loongson GMAC and GNET. So the plat->mac_interface field
can be freely initialized with the PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_NA value.

For the readability sake convert the hard-coded Loongson GMAC PCI ID to
the respective macro and use the PCI_DEVICE_DATA() macro-function to
create the pci_device_id array entry. The later change will be
specifically useful in order to assign the device-specific data for the
currently supported device and for about to be added Loongson GNET
controller.

initialized in the loongson_default_data() method. Drop the redundant
initialization, but for the readability sake keep the filters init
statements defined in the same place of the method.

DW GMAC v3.73 can be equipped with the Audio Video (AV) feature which
enables transmission of time-sensitive traffic over bridged local area
networks (DWC Ethernet QoS Product). In that case there can be up to two
additional DMA-channels available with no Tx COE support (unless there is
vendor-specific IP-core alterations). Each channel is implemented as a
separate Control and Status register (CSR) for managing the transmit and
receive functions, descriptor handling, and interrupt handling.
Add the multi-channels DW GMAC controllers support just by making sure the
already implemented DMA-configs are performed on the per-channel basis.
Note the only currently known instance of the multi-channel DW GMAC
IP-core is the LS2K2000 GNET controller, which has been released with the
vendor-specific feature extension of having eight DMA-channels. The device
support will be added in one of the following up commits.

ATDS (Alternate Descriptor Size) is a part of the DMA Bus Mode configs
(together with PBL, ALL, EME, etc) of the DW GMAC controllers. Seeing
it's not changed at runtime but is activated as long as the IP-core
has it supported (at least due to the Type 2 Full Checksum Offload
Engine feature), move the respective parameter from the
stmmac_dma_ops::init() callback argument to the stmmac_dma_cfg
structure, which already have the rest of the DMA-related configs
defined.
Besides the being added in the next commit DW GMAC multi-channels
support will require to add the stmmac_dma_ops::init_chan() callback
and have the ATDS flag set/cleared for each channel in there. Having
the atds-flag in the stmmac_dma_cfg structure will make the parameter
accessible from stmmac_dma_ops::init_chan() callback too.

Jiri Slaby advises me that the preferred mechanism for declaring
string constants is static char arrays, so use that here.
This mostly reverts
commit 1692b9775e ("net: stmmac: xgmac: use #define for string constants")
That commit was a fix for
commit 46eba193d0 ("net: stmmac: xgmac: fix handling of DPP safety error for DMA channels").
The fix being replacing const char * with #defines in order to address
compilation failures observed on GCC 6 through 10.
Compile tested only.
No functional change intended.

dwmac4 was decoding the duplex mode from the GMAC_PHYIF_CONTROL_STATUS
register incorrectly, using GMAC_PHYIF_CTRLSTATUS_LNKMOD_MASK (value 1)
rather than GMAC_PHYIF_CTRLSTATUS_LNKMOD (bit 16). Fix this.

Commit 3a7e02c040 ("minmax: avoid overly complicated constant
expressions in VM code") added the simpler MIN_T/MAX_T macros in order
to avoid some excessive expansion from the rather complicated regular
min/max macros.
The complexity of those macros stems from two issues:
(a) trying to use them in situations that require a C constant
expression (in static initializers and for array sizes)
(b) the type sanity checking
and MIN_T/MAX_T avoids both of these issues.
Now, in the whole (long) discussion about all this, it was pointed out
that the whole type sanity checking is entirely unnecessary for
min_t/max_t which get a fixed type that the comparison is done in.
But that still leaves min_t/max_t unnecessarily complicated due to
worries about the C constant expression case.
However, it turns out that there really aren't very many cases that use
min_t/max_t for this, and we can just force-convert those.
This does exactly that.
Which in turn will then allow for much simpler implementations of
min_t()/max_t(). All the usual "macros in all upper case will evaluate
the arguments multiple times" rules apply.
We should do all the same things for the regular min/max() vs MIN/MAX()
cases, but that has the added complexity of various drivers defining
their own local versions of MIN/MAX, so that needs another level of
fixes first.

The perfect_match parameter of the update_vlan_hash operation is __le16,
and is correctly converted from host byte-order in the lone caller,
stmmac_vlan_update().
However, the implementations of this caller, dwxgmac2_update_vlan_hash()
and dwxgmac2_update_vlan_hash(), both treat this parameter as host byte
order, using the following pattern:
u32 value = ...
...
writel(value | perfect_match, ...);
This is not correct because both:
1) value is host byte order; and
2) writel expects a host byte order value as it's first argument
I believe that this will break on big endian systems. And I expect it
has gone unnoticed by only being exercised on little endian systems.
The approach taken by this patch is to update the callback, and it's
caller to simply use a host byte order value.

In prevision to add new UAPI for hwtstamp we will be limited to the struct
ethtool_ts_info that is currently passed in fixed binary format through the
ETHTOOL_GET_TS_INFO ethtool ioctl. It would be good if new kernel code
already started operating on an extensible kernel variant of that
structure, similar in concept to struct kernel_hwtstamp_config vs struct
hwtstamp_config.
Since struct ethtool_ts_info is in include/uapi/linux/ethtool.h, here
we introduce the kernel-only structure in include/linux/ethtool.h.
The manual copy is then made in the function called by ETHTOOL_GET_TS_INFO.
