ffd342e087 be2net: Synchronize be_update_queues with dev_watchdog
As pointed out by Firo Yang, a netdev tx timeout may trigger just before an
ethtool set_channels operation is started. be_tx_timeout(), which dumps
some queue structures, is not written to run concurrently with
be_update_queues(), which frees/allocates those queues structures. Add some
synchronization between the two.

7429c6c0d9 be2net: Signal that the device cannot transmit during reconfiguration
While changing the number of interrupt channels, be2net stops adapter
operation (including netif_tx_disable()) but it doesn't signal that it
cannot transmit. This may lead dev_watchdog() to falsely trigger during
that time.

Add the missing call to netif_carrier_off(), following the pattern used in
many other drivers. netif_carrier_on() is already taken care of in
be_open().

718f4a2537 be2net: Fix number of Rx queues used for flow hashing
Number of Rx queues used for flow hashing returned by the driver is
incorrect and this bug prevents user to use the last Rx queue in
indirection table.

Let's say we have a NIC with 6 combined queues:

[root@sm-03 ~]# ethtool -l enp4s0f0
Channel parameters for enp4s0f0:
Pre-set maximums:
RX: 5
TX: 5
Other: 0
Combined: 6
Current hardware settings:
RX: 0
TX: 0
Other: 0
Combined: 6

Default indirection table maps all (6) queues equally but the driver
reports only 5 rings available.

[root@sm-03 ~]# ethtool -x enp4s0f0
RX flow hash indirection table for enp4s0f0 with 5 RX ring(s):
    0: 0 1 2 3 4 5 0 1
    8: 2 3 4 5 0 1 2 3
   16: 4 5 0 1 2 3 4 5
   24: 0 1 2 3 4 5 0 1
...

Now change indirection table somehow:

[root@sm-03 ~]# ethtool -X enp4s0f0 weight 1 1
[root@sm-03 ~]# ethtool -x enp4s0f0
RX flow hash indirection table for enp4s0f0 with 6 RX ring(s):
    0: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
...
   64: 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
...

Now it is not possible to change mapping back to equal (default) state:

[root@sm-03 ~]# ethtool -X enp4s0f0 equal 6
Cannot set RX flow hash configuration: Invalid argument

6b16f9ee89 net: move skb->xmit_more hint to softnet data
There are two reasons for this.

First, the xmit_more flag conceptually doesn't fit into the skb, as
xmit_more is not a property related to the skb.
Its only a hint to the driver that the stack is about to transmit another
packet immediately.

Second, it was only done this way to not have to pass another argument
to ndo_start_xmit().

We can place xmit_more in the softnet data, next to the device recursion.
The recursion counter is already written to on each transmit. The "more"
indicator is placed right next to it.

Drivers can use the netdev_xmit_more() helper instead of skb->xmit_more
to check the "more packets coming" hint.

skb->xmit_more is retained (but always 0) to not cause build breakage.

This change takes care of the simple s/skb->xmit_more/netdev_xmit_more()/
conversions. Remaining drivers are converted in the next patches.

5ef79151c2 Revert "be2net: remove desc field from be_eq_obj"
The mentioned commit needs to be reverted because we cannot pass
string allocated on stack to request_irq(). This function stores
uses this pointer for later use (e.g. /proc/interrupts) so we need
to keep this string persistently.

2d52527e80 be2net: don't flip hw_features when VXLANs are added/deleted
the be2net implementation of .ndo_tunnel_{add,del}() changes the value of
NETIF_F_GSO_UDP_TUNNEL bit in 'features' and 'hw_features', but it forgets
to call netdev_features_change(). Moreover, ethtool setting for that bit
can potentially be reverted after a tunnel is added or removed.

GSO already does software segmentation when 'hw_enc_features' is 0, even
if VXLAN offload is turned on. In addition, commit 096de2f83e ("benet:
stricter vxlan offloading check in be_features_check") avoids hardware
segmentation of non-VXLAN tunneled packets, or VXLAN packets having wrong
destination port. So, it's safe to avoid flipping the above feature on
addition/deletion of VXLAN tunnels.

c1b3bdb2ff be2net: gather debug info and reset adapter (only for Lancer) on a tx-timeout
This patch handles a TX-timeout as follows:

1) This patch gathers and prints the following info that can
help in diagnosing the cause of a TX-timeout.
   a) TX queue and completion queue entries.
   b) SKB and TCP/UDP header details.

2) For Lancer NICs (TX-timeout recovery is not supported for
BE3/Skyhawk-R NICs), it recovers from the TX timeout as follows:

   a) On a TX-timeout, driver sets the PHYSDEV_CONTROL_FW_RESET_MASK
bit in the PHYSDEV_CONTROL register. Lancer firmware goes into
an error state and indicates this back to the driver via a bit
      in a doorbell register.
   b) Driver detects this and calls be_err_recover(). DMA is disabled,
all pending TX skbs are unmapped and freed (be_close()). All rings
      are destroyed (be_clear()).
   c) The driver waits for the FW to re-initialize and re-creates all
rings along with other data structs (be_resume())

The current position of .rss_flags field in struct rss_info causes
that fields .rsstable and .rssqueue (both 128 bytes long) crosses

52acf06451 be2net: restore properly promisc mode after queues reconfiguration
The commit 6221906694 ("be2net: Request RSS capability of Rx interface
depending on number of Rx rings") modified be_update_queues() so the
IFACE (HW representation of the netdevice) is destroyed and then
re-created. This causes a regression because potential promiscuous mode
is not restored properly during be_open() because the driver thinks
that the HW has promiscuous mode already enabled.

Note that Lancer is not affected by this bug because RX-filter flags are
disabled during be_close() for this chipset.

6aa7de0591 locking/atomics: COCCINELLE/treewide: Convert trivial ACCESS_ONCE() patterns to READ_ONCE()/WRITE_ONCE()
Please do not apply this to mainline directly, instead please re-run the
coccinelle script shown below and apply its output.

For several reasons, it is desirable to use {READ,WRITE}_ONCE() in
preference to ACCESS_ONCE(), and new code is expected to use one of the
former. So far, there's been no reason to change most existing uses of
ACCESS_ONCE(), as these aren't harmful, and changing them results in
churn.

However, for some features, the read/write distinction is critical to
correct operation. To distinguish these cases, separate read/write
accessors must be used. This patch migrates (most) remaining
ACCESS_ONCE() instances to {READ,WRITE}_ONCE(), using the following
coccinelle script:

673c96e5af be2net: Fix UE detection logic for BE3
On certain platforms BE3 chips may indicate spurious UEs (unrecoverable

for BE3 chips. Because of this, even in cases of a real UE,
a failover will not occur. This patch re-enables UE detection on BE3
and if a UE is detected, reads the POST register. If the POST register,
reports either a FAT_LOG_STATE or a ARMFW_UE, then it means that a valid

bf8d9dfb9b be2net: VxLAN offload should be re-enabled when only 1 UDP port is left
We disable VxLAN offload when more than 1 UDP port is added to the driver,
since Skyhawk doesn't support offload with multiple ports. The existing

Remove this restriction by tracking the ports added and re-enabling offload

4993b39ab0 be2net: fix initial MAC setting
Recent commit 3439352916 ("be2net: fix MAC addr setting on privileged
BE3 VFs") allows privileged BE3 VFs to set its MAC address during
initialization. Although the initial MAC for such VFs is already
programmed by parent PF the subsequent setting performed by VF is OK,
but in certain cases (after fresh boot) this command in VF can fail.

The MAC should be initialized only when:
1) no MAC is programmed (always except BE3 VFs during first init)
2) programmed MAC is different from requested (e.g. MAC is set when
interface is down). In this case the initial MAC programmed by PF
   needs to be deleted.

The adapter->dev_mac contains MAC address currently programmed in HW so
it should be zeroed when the MAC is deleted from HW and should not be
filled when MAC is set when interface is down in be_mac_addr_set() as
no programming is performed in this case.

Example of failure without the fix (immediately after fresh boot):

# ip link set eth0 up <- eth0 is BE3 PF
be2net 0000:01:00.0 eth0: Link is Up

# echo 1 > /sys/class/net/eth0/device/sriov_numvfs <- Create 1 VF
...
be2net 0000:01:04.0: Emulex OneConnect(be3): VF port 0

# ip link set eth8 up <- eth8 is created privileged VF
be2net 0000:01:04.0: opcode 59-1 failed:status 1-76
RTNETLINK answers: Input/output error

# echo 0 > /sys/class/net/eth0/device/sriov_numvfs <- Delete VF

...

# echo 1 > /sys/class/net/eth0/device/sriov_numvfs <- Create it again
iommu: Removing device 0000:01:04.0 from group 33
...

# ip link set eth8 up
be2net 0000:01:04.0 eth8: Link is Up

Initialization is now OK.

3439352916 be2net: fix MAC addr setting on privileged BE3 VFs
During interface opening MAC address stored in netdev->dev_addr is
programmed in the HW with exception of BE3 VFs where the initial
MAC is programmed by parent PF. This is OK when MAC address is not
changed when an interfaces is down. In this case the requested MAC is
stored to netdev->dev_addr and later is stored into HW during opening.
But this is not done for all BE3 VFs so the NIC HW does not know
anything about this change and all traffic is filtered.

This is the case of bonding if fail_over_mac == 0 where the MACs of
the slaves are changed while they are down.

The be2net behavior is too restrictive because if a BE3 VF has
the FILTMGMT privilege then it is able to modify its MAC without
any restriction.

To solve the described problem the driver should take care about these
privileged BE3 VFs so the MAC is programmed during opening. And by
contrast unpriviled BE3 VFs should not be allowed to change its MAC
in any case.

096de2f83e benet: stricter vxlan offloading check in be_features_check
When VXLAN offloading is enabled, be_features_check() tries to check if
an encapsulated packet is indeed a VXLAN packet. The check is not strict
enough, and considers any UDP-encapsulated ethernet frame with a 8-byte
tunnel header as being VXLAN. Unfortunately, both GENEVE and VXLAN-GPE
have a 8-byte header, so they get through this check.

Force the UDP destination port to be the one that has been offloaded to
hardware.

Without this, GENEVE-encapsulated packets can end up having an incorrect
checksum when both a GENEVE and a VXLAN (offloaded) tunnel are
configured.

This is similar to commit a547224dce ("mlx4e: Do not attempt to
offload VXLAN ports that are unrecognized").

All conflicts were simple overlapping changes except perhaps
for the Thunder driver.

That driver has a change_mtu method explicitly for sending
a message to the hardware. If that fails it returns an
error.

Normally a driver doesn't need an ndo_change_mtu method becuase those
are usually just range changes, which are now handled generically.
But since this extra operation is needed in the Thunder driver, it has
to stay.

However, if the message send fails we have to restore the original
MTU before the change because the entire call chain expects that if
an error is thrown by ndo_change_mtu then the MTU did not change.
Therefore code is added to nicvf_change_mtu to remember the original
MTU, and to restore it upon nicvf_update_hw_max_frs() failue.

79aab093a0 net: Update API for VF vlan protocol 802.1ad support
Introduce new rtnl UAPI that exposes a list of vlans per VF, giving
the ability for user-space application to specify it for the VF, as an
option to support 802.1ad.
We adjusted IP Link tool to support this option.

For future use cases, the new UAPI supports multiple vlans. For now we
limit the list size to a single vlan in kernel.
Add IFLA_VF_VLAN_LIST in addition to IFLA_VF_VLAN to keep backward
compatibility with older versions of IP Link tool.

Add a vlan protocol parameter to the ndo_set_vf_vlan callback.
We kept 802.1Q as the drivers' default vlan protocol.
Suitable ip link tool command examples:
  Set vf vlan protocol 802.1ad:
ip link set eth0 vf 1 vlan 100 proto 802.1ad
Set vf to VST (802.1Q) mode:
ip link set eth0 vf 1 vlan 100 proto 802.1Q
Or by omitting the new parameter
ip link set eth0 vf 1 vlan 100

d766e7e6b6 be2net: mark symbols static where possible
We get 4 warnings when building kernel with W=1:
drivers/net/ethernet/emulex/benet/be_main.c:4368:6: warning: no previous prototype for 'be_calculate_pf_pool_rss_tables' [-Wmissing-prototypes]
drivers/net/ethernet/emulex/benet/be_cmds.c:4385:5: warning: no previous prototype for 'be_get_nic_pf_num_list' [-Wmissing-prototypes]

drivers/net/ethernet/emulex/benet/be_cmds.c:4910:5: warning: no previous prototype for '__be_cmd_set_logical_link_config' [-Wmissing-prototypes]

In fact, these functions are only used in the file in which they are
declared and don't need a declaration, but can be made static.
so this patch marks these functions with 'static'.

c27ebf5851 be2net: Fix mac address collision in some configurations
If the device mac address is updated using ndo_set_mac_address(),
while the same mac address is already programmed, the driver does not
detect this condition if its netdev->dev_addr has been changed. The
driver tries to add the same mac address resulting in mac address
collision error. This has been observed in bonding mode-5 configuration.

To fix this, store the mac address configured in HW in the adapter
structure. Use this to compare against the new address being updated
to avoid collision.

988d44b163 be2net: Avoid redundant addition of mac address in HW
If a mac address is added to the uc_list and later the same mac address
is added via ndo_set_mac_address() or vice versa, the driver does not
detect this condition and tries to add it again. This results in a mac
address collision error when the FW rejects it.

Fix this by checking if the given mac address is present in uc_list while
setting the device mac address and vice versa. Similarly skip deletion if
the address is still in use in the other form.

710f3e5961 be2net: Support UE recovery in BEx/Skyhawk adapters
This patch supports recovery from UEs caused due to Transient Parity
Errors (TPE), in BE2, BE3 and Skyhawk adapters. This change avoids
system reboot when such errors occur. The driver recovers from these
errors such that the adapter resumes full operational status as prior
to the UE.

Following is the list of changes in the driver to support this:

o The driver registers its UE recoverable capability with ARM FW at init
time. This also allows the driver to know if the feature is supported in
the FW.

o As the UE recovery requires precise time bound processing, the driver
creates its own error recovery work queue with a single worker thread (per
module, shared across functions).

o Each function runs an error detection task at an interval of 1 second as
required by the FW. The error detection logic already exists for BEx/SH,
but it now runs in the context of a separate worker thread.

o When an error is detected by the task, if it is recoverable, the PF0
driver instance initiates a soft reset, while other PF driver instances
wait for the reset to complete and the chip to become ready. Once
the chip is ready, all driver instances including PF0, resume to
reinitialize the respective functions.

o The PF0 driver checks for some recovery criteria, to determine if the
recovery can be initiated. If the criteria is not met, the PF0 driver does
not initiate a soft reset, it retains the existing behavior to stop
further processing and requires a reboot to get the chip to operational
state again.

o To allow each function to share the workq, while also making progress in
its recovery process, a per-function recovery state machine is used.
The per-function tasks avoid blocking operations like msleep() while in
this state machine (until reinit state) and instead reschedule for the
required delay.

o With these changes, the existing error recovery code for Lancer also
runs in the context of the new worker thread.

b71724147e be2net: replace polling with sleeping in the FW completion path
The ndo_set_rx_mode() and ndo_add/del_vxlan_port() calls may be called with
BHs disabled. The driver currently issues the required cmds to the FW in
these contexts and polls on completions from the FW, while BHs remain
disabled. This can cause either packet loss or packet reception to be
delayed on that CPU.

This patch defers processing of the above cmds to a separate workqueue.
With this change, FW cmds are now issued only in process context.
Now that the FW cmds are issued only in process context, they can sleep
waiting for a completion instead of polling. All the spin_lock_bh(mcc_lock)
calls are now replaced with mutex calls.

Also a new rx_filter_lock is now needed to protect the RX filtering fields
like vids[] between be_vlan_add/rem_vid() and __be_set_rx_mode() contexts.

92fbb1df83 be2net: Avoid unnecessary firmware updates of multicast list
Eachtime the ndo_set_rx_mode() routine is called, the driver programs the
multicast list in the adapter without checking if there are any changes to
the list. This leads to a flood of RX_FILTER cmds when a number of vlan
interfaces are configured over the device, as the ndo_ gets
called for each vlan interface. To avoid this, we now use __dev_mc_sync()
and __dev_uc_sync() API, but only to detect if there is a change in the
mc/uc lists. Now that we use this API, the code has to be-designed to
issue these API calls for each invocation of the be_set_rx_mode() call.

841f60fcc4 be2net: clear vlan-promisc setting before programming the vlan list
The Lancer FW has a bug due to which in some cases vlan-promisc setting
is cleared eventhough the vlan-list programming did not succeed (via
VLAN_CONFIG) cmd. The driver has no way of knowing if the vlan-promisc
mode was cleared or not when this cmd fails. To work around this issue,
this patch first explicitly clears the vlan-promisc mode via RX_FILTER
cmd and then tries to program the vlan list.

d3480615cf be2net: perform temperature query in adapter regardless of its interface state
The be2net driver performs fw temperature queries on be_worker() routine,
which is executed each second for each be_adapter. There is a frequency
threshold to avoid fw query to happens at each call to be_worker();
instead, currently a fw query occurs once in 64 runs of the procedure.

Nevertheless, this fw temperature query is invoked only for adapters which
interface is up, so we can see I/O errors on read of hwmon counters from
userspace (from tools like lm-sensors) in case we have adapters' functions
which interface is down.

This patch moves the fw query code to be invoked even if interface is down.
No functional changes were introduced.
