1deb6ed55a drm/mediatek: mtk_dpi: Add support for Pattern Generator in debugfs
This IP includes a Pattern Generator which is useful for debugging
and testing purposes: add the relevant register and bits to the
mtk_dpi_regs.h header, and implement support for it in mtk_dpi.

Adding this required to introduce a .debugfs_init() callback for
the DPI bridge, which creates a "dpi_test_pattern" file in the
directory of the appropriate connector.

The pattern generator can generate various internal patterns and
this submission includes support for:
 - 256 or 1024 shades of gray in a Vertical or Horizontal Pattern
 - Vertical Color Bars
 - Frame border
 - Dot Moire

This generator also supports filling the entire screen with one
custom color, but support for that is not included in this commit.

Enabling and disabling this generator can be done by sending a
string to the dpi_test_pattern debugfs file; the pattern is
expected to be formatted as follows:

         <enable (1) or disable (0)> <pattern number>

where the pattern number can be a number from 0 to 7, excluding 5.

Of course 5 is excluded because that activates custom color fill
which, again, is not supported in this commit.

0be123cafc drm/mediatek: mtk_hdmi: Unregister audio platform device on failure
The probe function of this driver may fail after registering the
audio platform device: in that case, the state is not getting
cleaned up, leaving this device registered.

Adding up to the mix, should the probe function of this driver
return a probe deferral for N times, we're registering up to N
audio platform devices and, again, never freeing them up.

To fix this, add a pointer to the audio platform device in the
mtk_hdmi structure, and add a devm action to unregister it upon
driver removal or probe failure.

fd40a63c63 drm/atomic: Let drivers decide which planes to async flip
Currently, DRM atomic uAPI allows only primary planes to be flipped
asynchronously. However, each driver might be able to perform async
flips in other different plane types. To enable drivers to set their own
restrictions on which type of plane they can or cannot flip, use the
existing atomic_async_check() from struct drm_plane_helper_funcs to
enhance this flexibility, thus allowing different plane types to be able
to do async flips as well.

Create a new parameter for the atomic_async_check(), `bool flip`. This
parameter is used to distinguish when this function is being called from
a plane update from a full page flip.

In order to prevent regressions and such, we keep the current policy: we
skip the driver check for the primary plane, because it is always
allowed to do async flips on it.

2ab002c755 Driver core and debugfs updates
Here is the big set of driver core and debugfs updates for 6.14-rc1.
 It's coming late in the merge cycle as there are a number of merge
 conflicts with your tree now, and I wanted to make sure they were
 working properly. To resolve them, look in linux-next, and I will send
 the "fixup" patch as a response to the pull request.

 Included in here is a bunch of driver core, PCI, OF, and platform rust
 bindings (all acked by the different subsystem maintainers), hence the
 merge conflict with the rust tree, and some driver core api updates to
 mark things as const, which will also require some fixups due to new
 stuff coming in through other trees in this merge window.

 There are also a bunch of debugfs updates from Al, and there is at least
 one user that does have a regression with these, but Al is working on
 tracking down the fix for it. In my use (and everyone else's linux-next
 use), it does not seem like a big issue at the moment.

 Here's a short list of the things in here:
   - driver core bindings for PCI, platform, OF, and some i/o functions.
     We are almost at the "write a real driver in rust" stage now,
     depending on what you want to do.
   - misc device rust bindings and a sample driver to show how to use
     them
   - debugfs cleanups in the fs as well as the users of the fs api for
     places where drivers got it wrong or were unnecessarily doing things
     in complex ways.
   - driver core const work, making more of the api take const * for
     different parameters to make the rust bindings easier overall.
   - other small fixes and updates

 All of these have been in linux-next with all of the aforementioned
 merge conflicts, and the one debugfs issue, which looks to be resolved
 "soon".

Pull drm updates from Dave Airlie:
 "There are two external interactions of note, the msm tree pull in some
  opp tree, hopefully the opp tree arrives from the same git tree
  however it normally does.

  There is also a new cgroup controller for device memory, that is used
  by drm, so is merging through my tree. This will hopefully help open
  up gpu cgroup usage a bit more and move us forward.

  There is a new accelerator driver for the AMD XDNA Ryzen AI NPUs.

  Then the usual xe/amdgpu/i915/msm leaders and lots of changes and
  refactors across the board:

f563dd9ca6 drm/mediatek: Initialize pointer in mtk_drm_of_ddp_path_build_one()
The struct device_node *next pointer is not initialized, and it is
used in an error path in which it may have never been modified by
function mtk_drm_of_get_ddp_ep_cid().

Since the error path is relying on that pointer being NULL for the
OVL Adaptor and/or invalid component check and since said pointer
is being used in prints for %pOF, in the case that it points to a
bogus address, the print may cause a KP.

To resolve that, initialize the *next pointer to NULL before usage.

f1e8bf5632 driver core: Constify API device_find_child() and adapt for various usages
Constify the following API:
struct device *device_find_child(struct device *dev, void *data,
		int (*match)(struct device *dev, void *data));
To :
struct device *device_find_child(struct device *dev, const void *data,
                                 device_match_t match);
typedef int (*device_match_t)(struct device *dev, const void *data);
with the following reasons:

- Protect caller's match data @*data which is for comparison and lookup
  and the API does not actually need to modify @*data.

- Make the API's parameters (@match)() and @data have the same type as
  all of other device finding APIs (bus|class|driver)_find_device().

- All kinds of existing device match functions can be directly taken
  as the API's argument, they were exported by driver core.

Constify the API and adapt for various existing usages.

BTW, various subsystem changes are squashed into this commit to meet
'git bisect' requirement, and this commit has the minimal and simplest
changes to complement squashing shortcoming, and that may bring extra
code improvement.

ba58115629 drm/mediatek: dp: Support flexible length of DP calibration data
The DP calibration data is stored in nvmem cells, and the data layout is
described in the `mtk_dp_efuse_fmt` arrays for each platform.

There is no guarantee that the data is always a 4-length u32 cell array.
For example, MT8188 has a data length of 3, preventing it from passing
the preliminary check and undergoing calibration.

Update the logic to support flexible data lengths. Specifically, we
validate the length returned from `nvmem_cell_read()` against the
platform-specific efuse format. If out-of-bound access is detected, fall
back to the default calibration values. This likely indicates an error
in either the efuse data length described in DT or the efuse format
within the driver.

76aed5e00f drm/mediatek: mtk_dsi: Add registers to pdata to fix MT8186/MT8188
Registers DSI_VM_CMD and DSI_SHADOW_DEBUG start at different

Add two members in struct mtk_dsi_driver_data to specify the

specify those in all of the currently present SoC driver data.

924d66011f drm/mediatek: stop selecting foreign drivers
The PHY portion of the mediatek hdmi driver was originally part of
the driver it self and later split out into drivers/phy, which a
'select' to keep the prior behavior.

However, this leads to build failures when the PHY driver cannot
be built:

WARNING: unmet direct dependencies detected for PHY_MTK_HDMI

ERROR: modpost: "rdev_get_drvdata" [drivers/phy/mediatek/phy-mtk-hdmi-drv.ko] undefined!

The best option here is to just not select the phy driver and leave that
up to the defconfig. Do the same for the other PHY and memory drivers
selected here as well for consistency.

da03801ad0 drm/mediatek: Move mtk_crtc_finish_page_flip() to ddp_cmdq_cb()
mtk_crtc_finish_page_flip() is used to notify userspace that a
page flip has been completed, allowing userspace to free the frame
buffer of the last frame and commit the next frame.

In MediaTek's hardware design for configuring display hardware by using
GCE, `DRM_EVENT_FLIP_COMPLETE` should be notified to userspace after
GCE has finished configuring all display hardware settings for each
atomic_commit().

Currently, mtk_crtc_finish_page_flip() cannot guarantee that GCE has
configured all the display hardware settings of the last frame.
Therefore, to increase the accuracy of the timing for notifying
`DRM_EVENT_FLIP_COMPLETE` to userspace, mtk_crtc_finish_page_flip()
should be moved to ddp_cmdq_cb().

e70140ba0d Get rid of 'remove_new' relic from platform driver struct
The continual trickle of small conversion patches is grating on me, and
is really not helping. Just get rid of the 'remove_new' member
function, which is just an alias for the plain 'remove', and had a
comment to that effect:

  /*
   * .remove_new() is a relic from a prototype conversion of .remove().
   * New drivers are supposed to implement .remove(). Once all drivers are
   * converted to not use .remove_new any more, it will be dropped.
   */

This was just a tree-wide 'sed' script that replaced '.remove_new' with
'.remove', with some care taken to turn a subsequent tab into two tabs
to make things line up.

I did do some minimal manual whitespace adjustment for places that used
spaces to line things up.

Then I just removed the old (sic) .remove_new member function, and this
is the end result. No more unnecessary conversion noise.

333ab43616 drm/mediatek: ovl: Add blend_modes to driver data
OVL_CON_CLRFMT_MAN is a configuration for extending color format
settings of DISP_REG_OVL_CON(n).
It will change some of the original color format settings.

Take the settings of (3 << 12) for example.
- If OVL_CON_CLRFMT_MAN = 0 means OVL_CON_CLRFMT_RGBA8888.
- If OVL_CON_CLRFMT_MAN = 1 means OVL_CON_CLRFMT_PARGB8888.

Since previous SoCs did not support OVL_CON_CLRFMT_MAN, this means
that the SoC does not support the premultiplied color format.
It will break the original color format setting of MT8173.

Therefore, the blend_modes is added to the driver data and then
mtk_ovl_fmt_convert() will check the blend_modes to see if
pre-multiplied is supported in the current platform.
If it is not supported, use coverage mode to set it to the supported
color formats to solve the degradation problem.

4c932840db drm/mediatek: Implement OF graphs support for display paths
It is impossible to add each and every possible DDP path combination
for each and every possible combination of SoC and board: right now,
this driver hardcodes configuration for 10 SoCs and this is going to
grow larger and larger, and with new hacks like the introduction of
mtk_drm_route which is anyway not enough for all final routes as the
DSI cannot be connected to MERGE if it's not a dual-DSI, or enabling
DSC preventively doesn't work if the display doesn't support it, or
others.

Since practically all display IPs in MediaTek SoCs support being
interconnected with different instances of other, or the same, IPs
or with different IPs and in different combinations, the final DDP
pipeline is effectively a board specific configuration.

Implement OF graphs support to the mediatek-drm drivers, allowing to
stop hardcoding the paths, and preventing this driver to get a huge
amount of arrays for each board and SoC combination, also paving the
way to share the same mtk_mmsys_driver_data between multiple SoCs,
making it more straightforward to add support for new chips.

Note that the OVL_ADAPTOR software component driver needs relatively
big changes in order to fully support OF Graphs (and more SoCs anyway)
and such changes will come at a later time.
As of now, the mtk_disp_ovl_adaptor driver takes the MERGE components
(for example, on mt8195, merge 1 to 4) dynamically so, even though
later updates to the ovl-adaptor driver will *not* require bindings
changes, the merge1-4 will be temporarily omitted in the graph for the
MT8195 SoC.

This means that an example graph for this SoC looks like:

mdp_rdma (0 ~ 7) -> padding (0 ~ 7) -> ethdr -> merge5

and the resulting path in this driver will be `ovl_adaptor -> merge5`

Later updates to the ovl adaptor will expand it to support more SoCs
and, in turn, to also fully support graphs.

fe30bae552 drm/mediatek: Fix missing configuration flags in mtk_crtc_ddp_config()
In mtk_crtc_ddp_config(), mtk_crtc will use some configuration flags to
generate instructions to cmdq_handle, such as:
  state->pending_config
  mtk_crtc->pending_planes
  plane_state->pending.config
  mtk_crtc->pending_async_planes
  plane_state->pending.async_config

These configuration flags may be set to false when a GCE IRQ comes calling
ddp_cmdq_cb(). This may result in missing prepare instructions,
especially if mtk_crtc_update_config() with the flase need_vblank (no need
to wait for vblank) cases.

Therefore, the mtk_crtc->config_updating flag is set at the beginning of
mtk_crtc_update_config() to ensure that these configuration flags won't be
changed when the mtk_crtc_ddp_config() is preparing instructions.
But somehow the ddp_cmdq_cb() didn't use the mtk_crtc->config_updating
flag to prevent those pending config flags from being cleared.

To avoid missing the configuration when generating the config instruction,
the config_updating flag should be added into ddp_cmdq_cb() and be
protected with spin_lock.

MediaTek SoCs support multiple planes, one of which is the primary

In all currently supported SoCs, the Z order of the overlays can't

Hardware-speaking, there is no feature-reduced cursor specific

While this could be ok, it raises issues with common userspace

Reduce the maximum width/height for the cursor to 512x512 pixels,

4225d5d5e7 drm/mediatek: Support alpha blending in display driver
Support "Pre-multiplied" and "None" blend mode on MediaTek's chips by
adding correct blend mode property when the planes init.
Before this patch, only the "Coverage" mode (default) is supported.

For more information, there are three pixel blend modes in DRM driver:
"None", "Pre-multiplied", and "Coverage".

To understand the difference between these modes, let's take a look at
the following two approaches to do alpha blending:

1. Straight:
dst.RGB = src.RGB * src.A + dst.RGB * (1 - src.A)
This is straightforward and easy to understand, when the source layer is
compositing with the destination layer, it's alpha will affect the
result. This is also known as "post-multiplied", or "Coverage" mode.

2. Pre-multiplied:
dst.RGB = src.RGB + dst.RGB * (1 - src.A)
Since the source RGB have already multiplied its alpha, only destination
RGB need to multiply it. This is the "Pre-multiplied" mode in DRM.

For the "None" blend mode in DRM, it means the pixel alpha is ignored
when compositing the layers, only the constant alpha for the composited
layer will take effects.

Support "Pre-multiplied" alpha blending mode on in OVL.
Before this patch, only the "coverage" mode is supported.

As whether OVL_CON_CLRFMT_MAN bit is enabled, (3 << 12)
means different formats in the datasheet. To prevent
misunderstandings going forward, instead of reusing
OVL_CON_CLRFMT_RGBA8888, we intetionally defined
OVL_CON_CLRFMT_PARGB8888 with bit operation again.

Merge v6.10-rc6 into drm-next

The exynos-next pull is based on a newer -rc than drm-next. hence
backmerge first to make sure the unrelated conflicts we accumulated
don't end up randomly in the exynos merge pull, but are separated out.

Conflicts are all benign: Adjacent changes in amdgpu and fbdev-dma
code, and cherry-pick conflict in xe.

9ff6df49e6 drm/mediatek: dpi/dsi: Fix possible_crtcs calculation
mtk_find_possible_crtcs() assumes that the main path will always have
the CRTC with id 0, the ext id 1 and the third id 2. This is only true
if the paths are all available. But paths are optional (see also
comment in mtk_drm_kms_init()), e.g. the main path might not be enabled
or available at all. Then the CRTC IDs will shift one up, e.g. ext will
be 0 and the third path will be 1.

To fix that, dynamically calculate the IDs by the presence of the paths.

While at it, make the return code a signed one and return -ENODEV if no
path is found and handle the error in the callers.

Use dev_err_probe() to log errors in the probe function of all drm
mediatek drivers. This avoids -EPROBE_DEFER return values from being
logged as errors, like the following:

As a side benefit it also standardizes the format of the error in the

20fb7ca6bf drm/mediatek: Call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at shutdown time
Based on grepping through the source code this driver appears to be
missing a call to drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at system shutdown
time. Among other things, this means that if a panel is in use that it
won't be cleanly powered off at system shutdown time.

The fact that we should call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() in the case
of OS shutdown/restart comes straight out of the kernel doc "driver
instance overview" in drm_drv.c.

This driver users the component model and shutdown happens in the base
driver. The "drvdata" for this driver will always be valid if
shutdown() is called and as of commit 2a07396828
("drm/atomic-helper: drm_atomic_helper_shutdown(NULL) should be a noop")
we don't need to confirm that "drm" is non-NULL.
