6d6c1ba782 net, treewide: define and use MAC_ADDR_STR_LEN

16ee3ea8fa wifi: mac80211: check basic rates validity in sta_link_apply_parameters
When userspace sets supported rates for a new station via
NL80211_CMD_NEW_STATION, it might send a list that's empty
or contains only invalid values. Currently, we process these
values in sta_link_apply_parameters() without checking the result of
ieee80211_parse_bitrates(), which can lead to an empty rates bitmap.

A similar issue was addressed for NL80211_CMD_SET_BSS in commit
ce04abc3fc ("wifi: mac80211: check basic rates validity").
This patch applies the same approach in sta_link_apply_parameters()
for NL80211_CMD_NEW_STATION, ensuring there is at least one valid
rate by inspecting the result of ieee80211_parse_bitrates().

Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Syzkaller.

43e0407717 wifi: mac80211: flush the station before moving it to UN-AUTHORIZED state
We first want to flush the station to make sure we no longer have any

Since the API clearly states that the driver can't fail the sta_state()

first, and only then call the driver's sta_state().

130067e9c1 wifi: mac80211: fix vendor-specific inheritance
If there's any vendor-specific element in the subelements

The code is erroneously applying the non-inheritance element
to the inner elements rather than the outer, which is clearly

ccbaf78239 wifi: mac80211: rework the Tx of the deauth in ieee80211_set_disassoc()
When we disassociate we may need to send a deauth frame.
Regardless of this decision, we need to flush the queues to drop all the
packets on the Tx queues.

The flow looks like this:

1) Flush packets waiting on the queues (drop=true)
2) Prepare Tx to send the deauth
3) Build the deauth header
4) send the deauth
5) Flush the deauth packet (drop=false)
6) Complete_tx

Step 3 and 4 are done in ieee80211_send_deauth_disassoc() and that
function must be called even if we decide not to send the deauth
frame because we need step 3 for cfg80211.

This means that if we want to send the deauth frame, we need all the
steps, but if we don't want to send the deauth frame we still want step
1 and 3.

Change the code to do that.

Also, prevent sending the deauth frame if we are in the middle of a CSA
with mode=1 in which case we won't be able to send the frame anyway.
This caused issues in iwlwifi at step 5 since the firmware wouldn't
send the frame and we'd be stuck flushing with drop=false.
Implement this in ieee80211_set_disassoc() which has many callers.

2ab002c755 Driver core and debugfs updates
Here is the big set of driver core and debugfs updates for 6.14-rc1.
 It's coming late in the merge cycle as there are a number of merge
 conflicts with your tree now, and I wanted to make sure they were
 working properly. To resolve them, look in linux-next, and I will send
 the "fixup" patch as a response to the pull request.

 Included in here is a bunch of driver core, PCI, OF, and platform rust
 bindings (all acked by the different subsystem maintainers), hence the
 merge conflict with the rust tree, and some driver core api updates to
 mark things as const, which will also require some fixups due to new
 stuff coming in through other trees in this merge window.

 There are also a bunch of debugfs updates from Al, and there is at least
 one user that does have a regression with these, but Al is working on
 tracking down the fix for it. In my use (and everyone else's linux-next
 use), it does not seem like a big issue at the moment.

 Here's a short list of the things in here:
   - driver core bindings for PCI, platform, OF, and some i/o functions.
     We are almost at the "write a real driver in rust" stage now,
     depending on what you want to do.
   - misc device rust bindings and a sample driver to show how to use
     them
   - debugfs cleanups in the fs as well as the users of the fs api for
     places where drivers got it wrong or were unnecessarily doing things
     in complex ways.
   - driver core const work, making more of the api take const * for
     different parameters to make the rust bindings easier overall.
   - other small fixes and updates

 All of these have been in linux-next with all of the aforementioned
 merge conflicts, and the one debugfs issue, which looks to be resolved
 "soon".

f7862dfef6 saner replacement for debugfs_rename()
Existing primitive has several problems:
	1) calling conventions are clumsy - it returns a dentry reference
that is either identical to its second argument or is an ERR_PTR(-E...);
in both cases no refcount changes happen. Inconvenient for users and
bug-prone; it would be better to have it return 0 on success and -E... on
failure.
	2) it allows cross-directory moves; however, no such caller have
ever materialized and considering the way debugfs is used, it's unlikely
to happen in the future. What's more, any such caller would have fun
issues to deal with wrt interplay with recursive removal. It also makes
the calling conventions clumsier...
	3) tautological rename fails; the callers have no race-free way
to deal with that.
	4) new name must have been formed by the caller; quite a few
callers have it done by sprintf/kasprintf/etc., ending up with considerable
boilerplate.

Proposed replacement: int debugfs_change_name(dentry, fmt, ...). All callers
convert to that easily, and it's simpler internally.

IMO debugfs_rename() should go; if we ever get a real-world use case for
cross-directory moves in debugfs, we can always look into the right way
to handle that.

295adaf455 wifi: mac80211: avoid double free in auth/assoc timeout
In case of authentication/association timeout (as detected in
ieee80211_iface_work->ieee80211_sta_work), ieee80211_destroy_auth_data
is called.
At the beginning of it, the pointer to ifmgd::auth_data memory is
copied to a local variable.
If iface_work is queued again during the execution of the current one,
and then the driver is flushing the wiphy_works (for its needs),
ieee80211_destroy_auth_data will run again and free auth_data.
Then when the execution of the original worker continues, the previously
copied pointer will be freed, causing a kernel bug:
 kernel BUG at mm/slub.c:553! (double free)

Same for association timeout (just with ieee80211_destroy_assoc_data and
ifmgd::assoc_data)

Fix this by NULLifying auth/assoc data right after we copied
the pointer to it. That way, even in the scenario above, the code will
not handle the same timeout twice.

3aaa1a5a9a wifi: mac80211: fix tid removal during mesh forwarding
With change (wifi: mac80211: fix receiving A-MSDU
frames on mesh interfaces), a non-zero TID assignment
is lost during slow path mesh forwarding.

Prior to this change, ieee80211_rx_h_mesh_fwding()
left the TID intact in the header.

As a result of this header corruption, packets belonging
to non-zero TIDs will get treating as belonging
TID 0 by functions such as ieee80211_get_tid().
While this miscategorization by itself is an
issue, there are additional ramifications
due to the fact that skb->priority still reflects
the mesh forwarded packet's ingress (correct) TID.

The mt7915 driver inspects the TID recorded within
skb->priority and relays this to the
hardware/radio during TX. The radio firmware appears to
react to this by changing the sequence control
header, but it does not also ensure/correct the TID in
the QoS control header. As a result, the receiver
will see packets with sequence numbers corresponding
to the wrong TID. The receiver of the forwarded
packet will see TID 0 in QoS control but a sequence number
corresponding to the correct (different) TID in sequence
control. This causes data stalls for TID 0 until
the TID 0 sequence number advances past what the receiver
believes it should be due to this bug.

Mesh routing mpath changes cause a brief transition
from fast path forwarding to slow path forwarding.
Since this bug only affects the slow path forwarding,
mpath changes bring opportunity for the bug to be triggered.
In the author's case, he was experiencing TID 0 data stalls
after mpath changes on an intermediate mesh node.

These observed stalls may be specific
to mediatek radios. But the inconsistency between
the packet header and skb->priority may cause problems
for other drivers as well. Regardless if this causes
connectivity issues on other radios, this change is
necessary in order transmit (forward) the packet on the
correct TID and to have a consistent view a packet's TID
within mac80211.

da7f40c05c wifi: mac80211: add some support for RX OMI power saving
In order to save power, it can be desirable to change the
RX operating mode using OMI to reduce the bandwidth. As the
handshake must be done in the HTC+ field, it cannot be done
by mac80211 directly, so expose functions to the driver to
request and finalize the necessary updates.

Note that RX OMI really only changes what the peer (AP) will
transmit to us, but in order to use it to actually save some
power (by reducing the listen bandwidth) we also update rate
scaling and then the channel context's mindef accordingly.

The updates are split into two in order to sequence them
correctly, when reducing bandwidth first reduce the rate
scaling and thus TX, then send OMI, then reduce the listen
bandwidth (chandef); when increasing bandwidth this is the
other way around. This also requires tracking in different
variables which part is applicable already.

687a7c8a72 wifi: mac80211: change disassoc sequence a bit
Currently, the sequence goes like this (among others):
1. flush all stations (including the AP ones) -> this will tell the
   drivers to remove the stations
2. notify the driver the vif is not associated.

Which means that in between 1 and 2, the state is that the vif is
associated, but there is no AP station, which makes no sense, and may be
problematic for some drivers (for example iwlwifi)

Change the sequence to:
1. flush the TDLS stations
2. move the AP station to IEEE80211_STA_NONE
3. notify the driver about the vif being unassociated
4. flush the AP station

In order to not break other drivers, add a vif flag to indicate whether
the driver wants to new sequence or not. If the flag is not set, then
things will be done in the old sequence.

b63a95d35f wifi: mac80211: add EHT 320 MHz support for mesh
Currently, ieee80211_ie_build_he_oper() lacks support for 320 MHz handling
(already noted as a TODO). This is because 320 MHz is not included in
IEEE 802.11-ax. However, IEEE 802.11-be introduces 320 MHz support and if
the chandef indicates a 320 MHz bandwidth and is used directly as it is, it
will result in an incorrect HE Operation Information Element.

In order to support EHT 320 MHz, HE Operation Element should indicate
bandwidth as 160 MHz only. In EHT Operation IE, the correct bandwidth will
be present. Devices capable of EHT can parse EHT Information Element and
connect in 320 MHz and other HE capable devices can parse HE and can
connect in 160 MHz.

Add support to downgrade the bandwidth in ieee80211_ie_build_he_oper()
during 320 MHz operation and advertise it.

ML interfaces can have multiple affiliated links to it and
hence there is a need to report tx power of specified link
rather deflink.

Add changes to report tx power of requested link from mac80211,
also pass link id as an argument in get_tx_power op so that supported
drivers can use it to report link's tx power.

7a53af85d3 wifi: cfg80211: send MLO links tx power info in GET_INTERFACE
Currently, TX power is reported on interface/wdev level as
part of NL80211_CMD_GET_INTERFACE. With MLO, Multiple links
can be part of an interface/wdev and hence its necessary to
report the TX power of each link.

Add support to send tx power for all valid links of an MLD as
part of NL80211_CMD_GET_INTERFACE request.

As far as userspace is concerned, there is no behavioral change
for Non-ML Interfaces. For ML interfaces, userspace should fetch
TX power that is nested inside NL80211_ATTR_MLO_LINKS, similar to
how channel info(NL80211_ATTR_WIPHY_FREQ) is fetched.

1b5b7f3d29 wifi: mac80211: fix variable used in for_each_sdata_link()
Macro for_each_sdata_link() accepts input '_local' but uses 'local'

11ac0d7c3b wifi: mac80211: fix a queue stall in certain cases of CSA
If we got an unprotected action frame with CSA and then we heard the
beacon with the CSA IE, we'll block the queues with the CSA reason
twice. Since this reason is refcounted, we won't wake up the queues
since we wake them up only once and the ref count will never reach 0.
This led to blocked queues that prevented any activity (even
disconnection wouldn't reset the queue state and the only way to recover
would be to reload the kernel module.

Fix this by not refcounting the CSA reason.
It becomes now pointless to maintain the csa_blocked_queues state.

b5c32ff6a3 wifi: cfg80211: clear link ID from bitmap during link delete after clean up
Currently, during link deletion, the link ID is first removed from the
valid_links bitmap before performing any clean-up operations. However, some
functions require the link ID to remain in the valid_links bitmap. One
such example is cfg80211_cac_event(). The flow is -

nl80211_remove_link()
    cfg80211_remove_link()
        ieee80211_del_intf_link()
            ieee80211_vif_set_links()
                ieee80211_vif_update_links()
                    ieee80211_link_stop()
                        cfg80211_cac_event()

cfg80211_cac_event() requires link ID to be present but it is cleared
already in cfg80211_remove_link(). Ultimately, WARN_ON() is hit.

Therefore, clear the link ID from the bitmap only after completing the link
clean-up.

cf44e74504 wifi: mac80211: ieee80211_i: Fix memory corruption bug in struct ieee80211_chanctx
Move the `struct ieee80211_chanctx_conf conf` to the end of
`struct ieee80211_chanctx` and fix a memory corruption bug
triggered e.g. in `hwsim_set_chanctx_magic()`: `radar_detected`
is being overwritten when `cp->magic = HWSIM_CHANCTX_MAGIC;`
See the function call sequence below:

drv_add_chanctx(... struct ieee80211_chanctx *ctx) ->
    local->ops->add_chanctx(&local->hw, &ctx->conf) ->
	mac80211_hwsim_add_chanctx(... struct ieee80211_chanctx_conf *ctx) ->
	    hwsim_set_chanctx_magic(ctx)

This also happens in a number of other drivers.

Also, add a code comment to try to prevent people from introducing
new members after `struct ieee80211_chanctx_conf conf`. Notice that
`struct ieee80211_chanctx_conf` is a flexible structure --a structure
that contains a flexible-array member, so it should always be at
the end of any other containing structures.

This change also fixes 50 of the following warnings:

net/mac80211/ieee80211_i.h:895:39: warning: structure containing a flexible array member is not at the end of another structure [-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end]

-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end was introduced in GCC-14, and we are

188a1bf894 wifi: mac80211: re-order assigning channel in activate links
The current flow in _ieee80211_set_active_links() does not align with the
operational requirements of drivers that groups multiple hardware
under a single wiphy. These drivers (e.g ath12k) rely on channel
assignment to determine the appropriate hardware for each link. Without
this, the drivers cannot correctly establish the link interface.

Currently in _ieee80211_set_active_links(), after calling
drv_change_vif_links() on the driver, the state of all connected stations
is updated via drv_change_sta_links(). This is followed by handling keys
in the links, and finally, assigning the channel to the links.
Consequently, drv_change_sta_links() prompts drivers to create the station
entry at their level and within their firmware. However, since channels
have not yet been assigned to links at this stage, drivers have not
created the necessary link interface for establishing link stations,
leading to failures in activating the links.

Therefore, re-order the logic so that after drv_change_vif_links() and
removing the old links, channels are assigned to newly added links.
Following this, the flow proceeds to station handling.

b23af47921 wifi: mac80211: chan: calculate min_def also for client mode
In order to deal with (temporary) bandwidth reductions to/from
the AP such as the upcoming RX OMI changes, modify the min_def
calculation to also not take the chanreq width into account in
client mode. This normally changes nothing as the AP bandwidth
will be the same as the channel request's width. In the RX OMI
changes, however, the code will reduce the bandwidth for only
the AP STA, since the OMI is only to that, and TDLS STAs are
unaffected. Using the min_def for this case simplifies RX OMI
a lot.

88b67e91e2 wifi: mac80211: call rate_control_rate_update() for link STA
In order to update the right link information, call the update
rate_control_rate_update() with the right link_sta, and then
pass that through to the driver's sta_rc_update() method. The

skipped by not having a rate control ref.

f828deb70c wifi: mac80211: allow rate_control_rate_init() for links
Andrei previously fixed an issue in the client where the NSS
for links other than the primary/assoc/deflink isn't set. The
same issue appears to exist on the AP side, because there's
only a call to rate_control_rate_init() for the deflink, and
not any other links.

Rework the code a bit to do rate_control_rate_init() for links,
even if it really doesn't work with software rate control yet,
it does other things as well.

Also add rate_control_rate_init_all_links() to actually do it
properly when moving to ASSOC state in cfg80211.

Change the explicit call to ieee80211_sta_init_nss() to instead
be rate_control_rate_init() now in the client code, but also
add a call to rate_control_rate_init() when a link is added in
AP mode and the STA is already associated.

This should fix the NSS initialization issue, and perhaps pave
the way for actual software rate scaling a bit, in case anyone
cares in the future, but that of course needs a lot more than
just the init call.

We still need to fix the rate control _update_ as well, and the
sta_rc_update() driver method especially, but that will be in a
different patch.

2b73e9ab85 wifi: mac80211: constify ieee80211_ie_build_{he,eht}_oper() chandef
The chandef parameter passed to ieee80211_ie_build_he_oper() and
ieee80211_ie_build_eht_oper is read-only. Since it is never modified,
add the const qualifier to this parameter. This makes these consistent
with ieee80211_ie_build_ht_oper() and ieee80211_ie_build_vht_oper().

The wiphy lock cannot be taken directly from color collision detection
delayed work (ieee80211_color_collision_detection_work()) because this
work is cancel_delayed_work_sync() under this wiphy lock causing a
potential deadlock( see [0] for details).

To fix that ieee80211_color_collision_detection_work() could be
converted to a wiphy work and cancel_delayed_work_sync() can be simply
replaced by wiphy_delayed_work_cancel() serving the same purpose under
wiphy lock.

This could potentially fix [1].

cb787f4ac0 [tree-wide] finally take no_llseek out
no_llseek had been defined to NULL two years ago, in commit 868941b144
("fs: remove no_llseek")

To quote that commit,

  At -rc1 we'll need do a mechanical removal of no_llseek -

  git grep -l -w no_llseek | grep -v porting.rst | while read i; do
	sed -i '/\<no_llseek\>/d' $i
  done

  would do it.

Unfortunately, that hadn't been done. Linus, could you do that now, so
that we could finally put that thing to rest? All instances are of the
form
	.llseek = no_llseek,
so it's obviously safe.

bca8bc0399 wifi: mac80211: handle ieee80211_radar_detected() for MLO
Currently DFS works under assumption there could be only one channel
context in the hardware. Hence, drivers just calls the function
ieee80211_radar_detected() passing the hardware structure. However, with
MLO, this obviously will not work since number of channel contexts will be
more than one and hence drivers would need to pass the channel information
as well on which the radar is detected.

Also, when radar is detected in one of the links, other link's CAC should
not be cancelled.

Hence, in order to support DFS with MLO, do the following changes -
  * Add channel context conf pointer as an argument to the function
    ieee80211_radar_detected(). During MLO, drivers would have to pass on
    which channel context conf radar is detected. Otherwise, drivers could
    just pass NULL.
  * ieee80211_radar_detected() will iterate over all channel contexts
    present and
  	* if channel context conf is passed, only mark that as radar
  	  detected
  	* if NULL is passed, then mark all channel contexts as radar
  	  detected
  	* Then as usual, schedule the radar detected work.
  * In the worker, go over all the contexts again and for all such context
    which is marked with radar detected, cancel the ongoing CAC by calling
    ieee80211_dfs_cac_cancel() and then notify cfg80211 via
    cfg80211_radar_event().
  * To cancel the CAC, pass the channel context as well where radar is
    detected to ieee80211_dfs_cac_cancel(). This ensures that CAC is
    canceled only on the links using the provided context, leaving other
    links unaffected.

This would also help in scenarios where there is split phy 5 GHz radio,
which is capable of DFS channels in both lower and upper band. In this
case, simultaneous radars can be detected.
