9caef85688 scsi: ufs: qcom: Use clk_bulk APIs for managing lane clocks
Lane clock handling can be simplified by using the clk_bulk APIs. So let's
make use of them. This also get's rid of the clock validation in the driver
as kernel should just rely on the firmware (DT/ACPI) to provide the clocks
required for proper functioning.

dc7c948d74 scsi: ufs: ufs-qcom: Add support for UFS device version detection
Start from HW ver 5, a spare register in UFS host controller is added and
used to indicate the UFS device version. The spare register is populated by
bootloader for now, but in future it will be populated by HW automatically
during link startup with its best efforts in any boot stage prior to Linux.

During host driver init, read the spare register, if it is not populated
with a UFS device version, go ahead with the dual init mechanism. If a UFS
device version is in there, use the UFS device version together with host
controller's HW version to decide the proper PHY gear which should be used
to configure the UFS PHY without going through the second init.

743e1f596c scsi: ufs: ufs-qcom: Allow the first init start with the maximum supported gear
During host driver init, the phy_gear is set to the minimum supported gear
(HS_G2). Then, during the first power mode change, the negotiated gear, say
HS-G4, is updated to the phy_gear variable so that in the second init the
updated phy_gear can be used to program the PHY.

But the current code only allows update the phy_gear to a higher value. If
one wants to start the first init with the maximum support gear, say HS-G4,
the phy_gear is not updated to HS-G3 if the device only supports HS-G3.

The original check added there is intend to make sure the phy_gear won't be
updated when gear is scaled down (during clock scaling). Update the check
so that one can start the first init with the maximum support gear without
breaking the original fix by checking the ufshcd_state, that is, allow
update to phy_gear only if power mode change is invoked from
ufshcd_probe_hba().

fa3dca8251 scsi: ufs: host: Rename structure ufs_dev_params to ufs_host_params
Structure ufs_dev_params is actually used in UFS host drivers to declare

to host_params.

In addition, rename the two functions ufshcd_init_pwr_dev_param() and
ufshcd_get_pwr_dev_param() which work based on the ufs_host_params to
ufshcd_init_host_params() and ufshcd_negotiate_pwr_params() respectively to

77a6725560 scsi: ufs: core: Store min and max clk freq from OPP table
OPP support added by commit 72208ebe18 ("scsi: ufs: core: Add support for
parsing OPP") doesn't update the min_freq and max_freq of each clock in
'struct ufs_clk_info'.

But these values are used by the host drivers internally for controller
configuration. When the OPP support is enabled in devicetree, these values
will be 0, causing boot issues on the respective platforms.

So add support to parse the min_freq and max_freq of all clocks while
parsing the OPP table.

72208ebe18 scsi: ufs: core: Add support for parsing OPP
OPP framework can be used to scale the clocks along with other entities
such as regulators, performance state etc... So let's add support for
parsing OPP from devicetree. OPP support in devicetree is added through the
"operating-points-v2" property which accepts the OPP table defining clock
frequency, regulator voltage, power domain performance state etc...

Since the UFS controller requires multiple clocks to be controlled for
proper working, devm_pm_opp_set_config() has been used which supports
scaling multiple clocks through custom ufshcd_opp_config_clks() callback.

It should be noted that the OPP support is not compatible with the old
"freq-table-hz" property. So only one can be used at a time even though
the UFS core supports both.

0842b7617e scsi: ufs: Convert all platform drivers to return void
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from
emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To
improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In
the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new()
which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted,
.remove_new() is renamed to .remove().

All platform drivers below drivers/ufs/ unconditionally return zero in
their remove callback and so can be converted trivially to the variant
returning void.

fc88ca19ad scsi: ufs: qcom: Update PHY settings only when scaling to higher gears
The "hs_gear" variable is used to program the PHY settings (submode) during
ufs_qcom_power_up_sequence(). Currently, it is being updated every time the
agreed gear changes. Due to this, if the gear got downscaled before suspend
(runtime/system), then while resuming, the PHY settings for the lower gear
will be applied first and later when scaling to max gear with REINIT, the
PHY settings for the max gear will be applied.

This adds a latency while resuming and also really not needed as the PHY
gear settings are backwards compatible i.e., we can continue using the PHY
settings for max gear with lower gear speed.

So let's update the "hs_gear" variable _only_ when the agreed gear is
greater than the current one. This guarantees that the PHY settings will be
changed only during probe time and fatal error condition.

Due to this, UFSHCD_QUIRK_REINIT_AFTER_MAX_GEAR_SWITCH can now be skipped
when the PM operation is in progress.

03ce80a1bb scsi: ufs: qcom: Add support for scaling interconnects
Qcom SoCs require scaling the interconnect paths for proper working of the
peripherals connected through interconnects. Even for accessing the UFS
controller, someone should setup the interconnect paths. So far, the
bootloaders used to setup the interconnect paths before booting Linux as
they need to access the UFS storage for things like fetching boot firmware.
But with the advent of multi boot options, bootloader nowadays like in
SA8540p SoC do not setup the interconnect paths at all.

So trying to configure UFS in the absence of the interconnect path
configuration results in a boot crash.

To fix this issue, and also to dynamically scale the interconnects (UFS-DDR
and CPU-UFS), interconnect API support is added to the Qcom UFS driver.
With this support, the interconnect paths are scaled dynamically based on
the gear configuration.

During the early stage of ufs_qcom_init(), ufs_qcom_icc_init() will setup
the paths to max bandwidth to allow configuring the UFS registers. Touching
the registers without configuring the icc paths would result in a crash.
However, we don't really need to set max vote for the icc paths as any
minimal vote would suffice. But the max value would allow initialization to
be done faster. After init, the bandwidth will get updated using
ufs_qcom_icc_update_bw() based on the gear and lane configuration.

The bandwidth values defined in ufs_qcom_bw_table struct are taken from
Qcom downstream vendor devicetree source and are calculated as per the
UFS3.1 Spec, Section 6.4.1, HS Gear Rates. So it is fixed across platforms.

ufshcd_mcq_poll_cqe_nolock(). This is to keep synchronization between MCQ
interrupt and error handler contexts because both need to access the MCQ
hardware in separate contexts.

49f262bc3c scsi: ufs: qcom: fix platform_msi_domain_free_irqs() reference
The newly added MSI support is mostly hidden inside of an #ifdef,
except for one line that now causes a build failure when MSI
is disabled:

drivers/ufs/host/ufs-qcom.c: In function 'ufs_qcom_remove':
drivers/ufs/host/ufs-qcom.c:1698:9: error: implicit declaration of function 'platform_msi_domain_free_irqs' [-Werror=i]
 1698 |         platform_msi_domain_free_irqs(hba->dev);
      | ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Above that, the symbol that guards the other call was recently removed, so
that is all dead code at the moment.

Remove the incorrect #ifdef and instead of a Kconfig dependency to only
allow building the driver when CONFIG_GENERIC_MSI_IRQ is enabled. This
symbol is always present when PCI_MSI or ARM_GIC_V3_ITS are enabled, both
of which should be present on kernels that can run on Qualcomm SoCs.

The 'select RESET_CONTROLLER' in combination with this dependency
unfortunately causes a dependency loop and this is a user-visible symbol,
so it's better to change both to 'depends on'.

CQs which have at least one completed CQE. Add this support. The MCQ
specification doesn't provide the Task Tag or its equivalent in the
Completion Queue Entry. So use an indirect method to find the Task Tag
from the Completion Queue Entry.

3d2f12b4f0 Merge patch series "ufs: qcom: Add HS-G4 support"
Manivannan Sadhasivam <manivannan.sadhasivam@linaro.org> says:

This series adds HS-G4 support to the Qcom UFS driver and PHY driver.
The newer Qcom platforms support configuring the UFS controller and
PHY in dual gears (i.e., controller/PHY can be configured to run in
two gear speeds). This is accomplished by adding two different PHY
init sequences to the PHY driver and the UFS driver requesting the one
that's required based on the platform configuration.

Initially the ufs-qcom driver will use the default gear G2 for
enumerating the UFS device. Afer enumeration, the max gear supported
by both the controller and device would be found out and that will be
used thereafter. But for using the max gear after enumeration, the
ufs-qcom driver requires the UFS device to be reinitialized. For this
purpose, a separate quirk has been introduced in the UFS core along
with a callback and those will be used by the ufs-qcom driver.

This series has been tested on following platforms:

 * Qcom RB5 development platform powered by SM8250 SoC
 * SM8450 based dev board
 * Qdrive3/sa8540p-ride board based on SC8280XP (derivative)

The print_fn callback (and its only callback implementation,

ufs_qcom_print_hw_debug_reg_all() and just multiplies len by 4 before
calling ufshcd_dump_regs().

ufs_qcom_print_hw_debug_reg_all() is only called by

There's no real gain in those abstractions, so let's just do the work

UFSHCD_CAP_CLK_SCALING is set. Just like UFSHCD_CAP_HIBERN8_WITH_CLK_GATING
is valid only when UFSHCD_CAP_CLK_GATING set.

Set UFSHCD_CAP_WB_WITH_CLK_SCALING for qcom to compatible legacy design at
the same time.

b7dbc686f6 scsi: ufs: ufs-mediatek: Support clk-scaling to optimize power consumption
Provide clk-scaling feature in MediaTek UFS platforms.

MediaTek platform supports clk-scaling by switching parent clock mux of
UFSHCI main clocks: ufs_sel.

The driver needs to prevent changing the rate of ufs_sel because its parent
PLL clock may be shared between multiple IPs. In order to achieve this
goal, the maximum and minimum clock rates of ufs_sel defined in dts should
match the rate of "ufs_sel_max_src" and "ufs_sel_min_src" respectively.
