27ec3c57fc wifi: mwifiex: duplicate static structs used in driver instances
mwifiex_band_2ghz and mwifiex_band_5ghz are statically allocated, but
used and modified in driver instances. Duplicate them before using
them in driver instances so that different driver instances do not
influence each other.

This was observed on a board which has one PCIe and one SDIO mwifiex
adapter. It blew up in mwifiex_setup_ht_caps(). This was called with
the statically allocated struct which is modified in this function.

36aa649915 wifi: mwifiex: fix key_mgmt setting
bss_config->key_mgmt specifies the AKM suites that are usable in
hardware. This variable is set to specific values while iterating
over the advertised AKM suites. This means the final value of the
variable depends on the order of the entries in the AKM suites
array. Instead of setting the variable, just set the relevant bits
in the key_mgmt bit field to make us independent of the order of
entries.
This behaviour is derived from the downstream driver that does the
same.
Also, set bss_config->key_mgmt to zero explicitly right before the
loop. bss_config has been zero allocated by the caller already, but
do so again to save the reader from following the code path.

eb84567e72 wifi: mwifiex: simplify WPA flags setting
The WPA flags setting only depends on the wpa_versions bitfield and not
on the AKM suite, so move it out of the switch/case to simplify the code
a bit. Also set bss_config->protocol to zero explicitly. This is done
only to make the code clearer, bss_config has been zero alloced by the
caller, so should be zero already. No functional change intended.

c145eea2f7 wifi: mwifiex: Do not return unused priv in mwifiex_get_priv_by_id()
mwifiex_get_priv_by_id() returns the priv pointer corresponding to
the bss_num and bss_type, but without checking if the priv is actually
currently in use.
Unused priv pointers do not have a wiphy attached to them which can
lead to NULL pointer dereferences further down the callstack. Fix
this by returning only used priv pointers which have priv->bss_mode
set to something else than NL80211_IFTYPE_UNSPECIFIED.

Said NULL pointer dereference happened when an Accesspoint was started
with wpa_supplicant -i mlan0 with this config:

network={
        ssid="somessid"
        mode=2
        frequency=2412

        proto=RSN
        group=CCMP
        pairwise=CCMP
        psk="12345678"
}

When waiting for the AP to be established, interrupting wpa_supplicant
with <ctrl-c> and starting it again this happens:

When changing the interface type we also need to update the bss_num, the

This fixes for example an issue in which, after the mode changed, a
wireless scan on the changed interface would not finish, leading to
repeated -EBUSY messages to userspace when other scan requests were
sent.

struct mwifiex_ie_types_chan_list_param_set::chan_scan_param is treated

the array bounds sanitizer[1]. Only a few places were using sizeof()
on the whole struct, so adjust those to follow the calculation pattern
to avoid including the trailing single element.

Examining binary output differences doesn't appear to show any literal
size values changing, though it is obfuscated a bit by the compiler
adjusting register usage and stack spill slots, etc.

b82730bf57 wifi: cfg80211/mac80211: move puncturing into chandef
Aloka originally suggested that puncturing should be part of
the chandef, so that it's treated correctly. At the time, I
disagreed and it ended up not part of the chandef, but I've
now realized that this was wrong. Even for clients, the RX,
and perhaps more importantly, CCA configuration needs to take
puncturing into account.

Move puncturing into the chandef, and adjust all the code
accordingly. Also add a few tests for puncturing in chandef

50180c7f8e wifi: mwifiex: debugfs: Drop unnecessary error check for debugfs_create_dir()
debugfs_create_dir() returns ERR_PTR and never return NULL.

As Russell suggested, this patch removes the error checking for
debugfs_create_dir(). This is because the DebugFS kernel API is developed
in a way that the caller can safely ignore the errors that occur during
the creation of DebugFS nodes. The debugfs APIs have a IS_ERR() judge in
start_creating() which can handle it gracefully. So these checks are
unnecessary.

49a78b05d5 USB: core: Use device_driver directly in struct usb_driver and usb_device_driver
There is usbdrv_wrap in struct usb_driver and usb_device_driver, it
contains device_driver and for_devices. for_devices is used to
distinguish between device drivers and interface drivers.

Like the is_usb_device(), it tests the type of the device. We can test
that if the probe of device_driver is equal to usb_probe_device in
is_usb_device_driver(), and then the struct usbdrv_wrap is no longer
needed.

Clean up struct usbdrv_wrap, use device_driver directly in struct
usb_driver and usb_device_driver. This makes the code cleaner.

f0dd488e11 wifi: mwifiex: configure BSSID consistently when starting AP
AP BSSID configuration is missing at AP start. Without this fix, FW returns
STA interface MAC address after first init. When hostapd restarts, it gets MAC
address from netdev before driver sets STA MAC to netdev again. Now MAC address

eec679e4ac wifi: mwifiex: Fix tlv_buf_left calculation
In a TLV encoding scheme, the Length part represents the length after
the header containing the values for type and length. In this case,
`tlv_len` should be:

tlv_len == (sizeof(*tlv_rxba) - 1) - sizeof(tlv_rxba->header) + tlv_bitmap_len

Notice that the `- 1` accounts for the one-element array `bitmap`, which
1-byte size is already included in `sizeof(*tlv_rxba)`.

So, if the above is correct, there is a double-counting of some members
in `struct mwifiex_ie_types_rxba_sync`, when `tlv_buf_left` and `tmp`
are calculated:

968                 tlv_buf_left -= (sizeof(*tlv_rxba) + tlv_len);
969                 tmp = (u8 *)tlv_rxba + tlv_len + sizeof(*tlv_rxba);

in specific, members:

drivers/net/wireless/marvell/mwifiex/fw.h:777
 777         u8 mac[ETH_ALEN];
 778         u8 tid;
 779         u8 reserved;
 780         __le16 seq_num;
 781         __le16 bitmap_len;

This is clearly wrong, and affects the subsequent decoding of data in
`event_buf` through `tlv_rxba`:

970                 tlv_rxba = (struct mwifiex_ie_types_rxba_sync *)tmp;

Fix this by using `sizeof(tlv_rxba->header)` instead of `sizeof(*tlv_rxba)`
in the calculation of `tlv_buf_left` and `tmp`.

This results in the following binary differences before/after changes:

| drivers/net/wireless/marvell/mwifiex/11n_rxreorder.o
| @@ -4698,11 +4698,11 @@
|  drivers/net/wireless/marvell/mwifiex/11n_rxreorder.c:968

The above reflects the desired change: avoid counting 13 too many bytes;
which is the total size of the double-counted members in
`struct mwifiex_ie_types_rxba_sync`:

      |                         ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The compiler actually complains on:

memmove(pos + ETH_ALEN, &mgmt->u.action.category,
	sizeof(mgmt->u.action.u.tdls_discover_resp));

and it happens because the fortification logic interprets this
as an attempt to overread 1-byte 'u.action.category' member of
'struct ieee80211_mgmt'. To silence this warning, it's enough
to pass an address of 'u.action' itself instead of an address
of its first member.

This also fixes an improper usage of 'sizeof()'. Since 'skb' is
extended with 'sizeof(mgmt->u.action.u.tdls_discover_resp) + 1'
bytes (where 1 is actually 'sizeof(mgmt->u.action.category)'),
I assume that the same number of bytes should be copied.

3a8a670eee Networking changes for 6.5.
Core
 ----

  - Rework the sendpage & splice implementations. Instead of feeding
    data into sockets page by page extend sendmsg handlers to support
    taking a reference on the data, controlled by a new flag called
    MSG_SPLICE_PAGES. Rework the handling of unexpected-end-of-file
    to invoke an additional callback instead of trying to predict what
    the right combination of MORE/NOTLAST flags is.
    Remove the MSG_SENDPAGE_NOTLAST flag completely.

  - Implement SCM_PIDFD, a new type of CMSG type analogous to
    SCM_CREDENTIALS, but it contains pidfd instead of plain pid.

  - Enable socket busy polling with CONFIG_RT.

  - Improve reliability and efficiency of reporting for ref_tracker.

  - Auto-generate a user space C library for various Netlink families.

 Protocols
 ---------

  - Allow TCP to shrink the advertised window when necessary, prevent
    sk_rcvbuf auto-tuning from growing the window all the way up to
    tcp_rmem[2].

  - Use per-VMA locking for "page-flipping" TCP receive zerocopy.

  - Prepare TCP for device-to-device data transfers, by making sure
    that payloads are always attached to skbs as page frags.

  - Make the backoff time for the first N TCP SYN retransmissions
    linear. Exponential backoff is unnecessarily conservative.

  - Create a new MPTCP getsockopt to retrieve all info (MPTCP_FULL_INFO).

  - Avoid waking up applications using TLS sockets until we have
    a full record.

  - Allow using kernel memory for protocol ioctl callbacks, paving
    the way to issuing ioctls over io_uring.

  - Add nolocalbypass option to VxLAN, forcing packets to be fully
    encapsulated even if they are destined for a local IP address.

  - Make TCPv4 use consistent hash in TIME_WAIT and SYN_RECV. Ensure
    in-kernel ECMP implementation (e.g. Open vSwitch) select the same
    link for all packets. Support L4 symmetric hashing in Open vSwitch.

  - PPPoE: make number of hash bits configurable.

  - Allow DNS to be overwritten by DHCPACK in the in-kernel DHCP client
    (ipconfig).

  - Add layer 2 miss indication and filtering, allowing higher layers
    (e.g. ACL filters) to make forwarding decisions based on whether
    packet matched forwarding state in lower devices (bridge).

  - Support matching on Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) packets.

  - Hide the "link becomes ready" IPv6 messages by demoting their
    printk level to debug.

  - HSR: don't enable promiscuous mode if device offloads the proto.

  - Support active scanning in IEEE 802.15.4.

  - Continue work on Multi-Link Operation for WiFi 7.

 BPF
 ---

  - Add precision propagation for subprogs and callbacks. This allows
    maintaining verification efficiency when subprograms are used,
    or in fact passing the verifier at all for complex programs,
    especially those using open-coded iterators.

  - Improve BPF's {g,s}setsockopt() length handling. Previously BPF

Pull networking changes from Jakub Kicinski:
 "WiFi 7 and sendpage changes are the biggest pieces of work for this
  release. The latter will definitely require fixes but I think that we
  got it to a reasonable point.

  Core:

   - Rework the sendpage & splice implementations

     Instead of feeding data into sockets page by page extend sendmsg
     handlers to support taking a reference on the data, controlled by a
     new flag called MSG_SPLICE_PAGES

     Rework the handling of unexpected-end-of-file to invoke an
     additional callback instead of trying to predict what the right
     combination of MORE/NOTLAST flags is

     Remove the MSG_SENDPAGE_NOTLAST flag completely

   - Implement SCM_PIDFD, a new type of CMSG type analogous to
     SCM_CREDENTIALS, but it contains pidfd instead of plain pid

   - Enable socket busy polling with CONFIG_RT

   - Improve reliability and efficiency of reporting for ref_tracker

   - Auto-generate a user space C library for various Netlink families

  Protocols:

   - Allow TCP to shrink the advertised window when necessary, prevent
     sk_rcvbuf auto-tuning from growing the window all the way up to
     tcp_rmem[2]

   - Use per-VMA locking for "page-flipping" TCP receive zerocopy

   - Prepare TCP for device-to-device data transfers, by making sure
     that payloads are always attached to skbs as page frags

   - Make the backoff time for the first N TCP SYN retransmissions
     linear. Exponential backoff is unnecessarily conservative

   - Create a new MPTCP getsockopt to retrieve all info
     (MPTCP_FULL_INFO)

   - Avoid waking up applications using TLS sockets until we have a full
     record

   - Allow using kernel memory for protocol ioctl callbacks, paving the
     way to issuing ioctls over io_uring

   - Add nolocalbypass option to VxLAN, forcing packets to be fully
     encapsulated even if they are destined for a local IP address

   - Make TCPv4 use consistent hash in TIME_WAIT and SYN_RECV. Ensure
     in-kernel ECMP implementation (e.g. Open vSwitch) select the same
     link for all packets. Support L4 symmetric hashing in Open vSwitch

   - PPPoE: make number of hash bits configurable

   - Allow DNS to be overwritten by DHCPACK in the in-kernel DHCP client
     (ipconfig)

   - Add layer 2 miss indication and filtering, allowing higher layers
     (e.g. ACL filters) to make forwarding decisions based on whether
     packet matched forwarding state in lower devices (bridge)

   - Support matching on Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) packets

   - Hide the "link becomes ready" IPv6 messages by demoting their
     printk level to debug

   - HSR: don't enable promiscuous mode if device offloads the proto

   - Support active scanning in IEEE 802.15.4

   - Continue work on Multi-Link Operation for WiFi 7

  BPF:

   - Add precision propagation for subprogs and callbacks. This allows
     maintaining verification efficiency when subprograms are used, or
     in fact passing the verifier at all for complex programs,
     especially those using open-coded iterators

   - Improve BPF's {g,s}setsockopt() length handling. Previously BPF
     assumed the length is always equal to the amount of written data.
     But some protos allow passing a NULL buffer to discover what the
     output buffer *should* be, without writing anything

   - Accept dynptr memory as memory arguments passed to helpers

   - Add routing table ID to bpf_fib_lookup BPF helper

   - Support O_PATH FDs in BPF_OBJ_PIN and BPF_OBJ_GET commands

   - Drop bpf_capable() check in BPF_MAP_FREEZE command (used to mark
     maps as read-only)

   - Show target_{obj,btf}_id in tracing link fdinfo

   - Addition of several new kfuncs (most of the names are
     self-explanatory):
      - Add a set of new dynptr kfuncs: bpf_dynptr_adjust(),
        bpf_dynptr_is_null(), bpf_dynptr_is_rdonly(), bpf_dynptr_size()
        and bpf_dynptr_clone().
      - bpf_task_under_cgroup()
      - bpf_sock_destroy() - force closing sockets
      - bpf_cpumask_first_and(), rework bpf_cpumask_any*() kfuncs

  Netfilter:

   - Relax set/map validation checks in nf_tables. Allow checking
     presence of an entry in a map without using the value

   - Increase ip_vs_conn_tab_bits range for 64BIT builds

   - Allow updating size of a set

   - Improve NAT tuple selection when connection is closing

  Driver API:

   - Integrate netdev with LED subsystem, to allow configuring HW
     "offloaded" blinking of LEDs based on link state and activity
     (i.e. packets coming in and out)

   - Support configuring rate selection pins of SFP modules

   - Factor Clause 73 auto-negotiation code out of the drivers, provide
     common helper routines

   - Add more fool-proof helpers for managing lifetime of MDIO devices
     associated with the PCS layer

   - Allow drivers to report advanced statistics related to Time Aware

d9aef04fcf wifi: mwifiex: Fix the size of a memory allocation in mwifiex_ret_802_11_scan()
The type of "mwifiex_adapter->nd_info" is "struct cfg80211_wowlan_nd_info",
not "struct cfg80211_wowlan_nd_match".

Use struct_size() to ease the computation of the needed size.

The current code over-allocates some memory, so is safe.
But it wastes 32 bytes.

986e43b19a wifi: mac80211: fix receiving A-MSDU frames on mesh interfaces
The current mac80211 mesh A-MSDU receive path fails to parse A-MSDU packets
on mesh interfaces, because it assumes that the Mesh Control field is always
directly after the 802.11 header.
802.11-2020 9.3.2.2.2 Figure 9-70 shows that the Mesh Control field is
actually part of the A-MSDU subframe header.
This makes more sense, since it allows packets for multiple different
destinations to be included in the same A-MSDU, as long as RA and TID are
still the same.
Another issue is the fact that the A-MSDU subframe length field was apparently
accidentally defined as little-endian in the standard.

In order to fix this, the mesh forwarding path needs happen at a different
point in the receive path.

ieee80211_data_to_8023_exthdr is changed to ignore the mesh control field
and leave it in after the ethernet header. This also affects the source/dest
MAC address fields, which now in the case of mesh point to the mesh SA/DA.

ieee80211_amsdu_to_8023s is changed to deal with the endian difference and
to add the Mesh Control length to the subframe length, since it's not covered
by the MSDU length field.

With these changes, the mac80211 will get the same packet structure for
converted regular data packets and unpacked A-MSDU subframes.

The mesh forwarding checks are now only performed after the A-MSDU decap.
For locally received packets, the Mesh Control header is stripped away.
For forwarded packets, a new 802.11 header gets added.

and the reason for that is the following line:

drivers/net/wireless/marvell/mwifiex/scan.c:
1517         scan_cfg_out = kzalloc(sizeof(union mwifiex_scan_cmd_config_tlv),
1518                                GFP_KERNEL);

sizeof(union mwifiex_scan_cmd_config_tlv) is now one-byte smaller due to the
flex-array transformation:

  46 union mwifiex_scan_cmd_config_tlv {
  47         /* Scan configuration (variable length) */
  48         struct mwifiex_scan_cmd_config config;

  50         u8 config_alloc_buf[MAX_SCAN_CFG_ALLOC];

Notice that MAX_SCAN_CFG_ALLOC is defined in terms of
sizeof(struct mwifiex_ie_types_rates_param_set), see:

  26 /* Memory needed to store supported rate */
  27 #define RATE_TLV_MAX_SIZE   (sizeof(struct mwifiex_ie_types_rates_param_set) \
  28                                 + HOSTCMD_SUPPORTED_RATES)

  37 /* Maximum memory needed for a mwifiex_scan_cmd_config with all TLVs at max */
  38 #define MAX_SCAN_CFG_ALLOC (sizeof(struct mwifiex_scan_cmd_config)        \

bba047f158 wifi: mwifiex: Support SD8978 chipset
The Marvell SD8978 (aka NXP IW416) uses identical registers as SD8987,
so reuse the existing mwifiex_reg_sd8987 definition.

Note that mwifiex_reg_sd8977 and mwifiex_reg_sd8997 are likewise
identical, save for the fw_dump_ctrl register: They define it as 0xf0
whereas mwifiex_reg_sd8987 defines it as 0xf9. I've verified that
0xf9 is the correct value on SD8978. NXP's out-of-tree driver uses
0xf9 for all of them, so there's a chance that 0xf0 is not correct
in the mwifiex_reg_sd8977 and mwifiex_reg_sd8997 definitions. I cannot
test that for lack of hardware, hence am leaving it as is.

NXP has only released a firmware which runs Bluetooth over UART.
Perhaps Bluetooth over SDIO is unsupported by this chipset.
Consequently, only an "sdiouart" firmware image is referenced, not an
alternative "sdsd" image.

Due to several bugs caused by timers being re-armed after they are
shutdown and just before they are freed, a new state of timers was added
called "shutdown". After a timer is set to this state, then it can no
longer be re-armed.

The following script was run to find all the trivial locations where
del_timer() or del_timer_sync() is called in the same function that the

7b0a0e3c3a wifi: cfg80211: do some rework towards MLO link APIs
In order to support multi-link operation with multiple links,
start adding some APIs. The notable addition here is to have
the link ID in a new nl80211 attribute, that will be used to
differentiate the links in many nl80211 operations.

So far, this patch adds the netlink NL80211_ATTR_MLO_LINK_ID
attribute (as well as the NL80211_ATTR_MLO_LINKS attribute)
and plugs it through the system in some places, checking the
validity etc. along with other infrastructure needed for it.

For now, I've decided to include only the over-the-air link
ID in the API. I know we discussed that we eventually need to
have to have other ways of identifying a link, but for local
AP mode and auth/assoc commands as well as set_key etc. we'll
use the OTA ID.

Also included in this patch is some refactoring of the data
structures in struct wireless_dev, splitting for the first
time the data into type dependent pieces, to make reasoning
about these things easier.

255ca28a65 mwifiex: Select firmware based on strapping
Some WiFi/Bluetooth modules might have different host connection
options, allowing to either use SDIO for both WiFi and Bluetooth,
or SDIO for WiFi and UART for Bluetooth. It is possible to detect
whether a module has SDIO-SDIO or SDIO-UART connection by reading
its host strap register.

This change introduces a way to automatically select appropriate
firmware depending of the connection method, and removes a need
of symlinking or overwriting the original firmware file with a
required one.

Host strap register used in this commit comes from the NXP driver [1]
hosted at Code Aurora.

3e12968f6d mwifiex: add mutex lock for call in mwifiex_dfs_chan_sw_work_queue
cfg80211_ch_switch_notify uses ASSERT_WDEV_LOCK to assert that
net_device->ieee80211_ptr->mtx (which is the same as priv->wdev.mtx)

mwifiex_dfs_chan_sw_work_queue is one of its callers, which does not
hold that lock, therefore violating the assertion.
Add a lock around the call.

I am currently working on a static analyser to detect missing locks.
This was a reported case. I manually verified the report by looking

Similar report for mwifiex_process_uap_tx_pause().

While the locking expectations in this driver are a bit unclear, the
Fixed commit only intended to protect the sta_ptr, so we can drop the
lock as soon as we're done with it.

IIUC, this deadlock cannot actually happen, because command event
processing (which calls mwifiex_process_sta_tx_pause()) is
sequentialized with TX packet processing (e.g.,
mwifiex_dequeue_tx_packet()) via the main loop (mwifiex_main_process()).
But it's good not to leave this potential issue lurking.

84d94e16ef mwifiex: Ignore BTCOEX events from the 88W8897 firmware
The firmware of the 88W8897 PCIe+USB card sends those events very
unreliably, sometimes bluetooth together with 2.4ghz-wifi is used and no
COEX event comes in, and sometimes bluetooth is disabled but the
coexistance mode doesn't get disabled.

This means we sometimes end up capping the rx/tx window size while
bluetooth is not enabled anymore, artifically limiting wifi speeds even
though bluetooth is not being used.

Since we can't fix the firmware, let's just ignore those events on the
88W8897 device. From some Wireshark capture sessions it seems that the
Windows driver also doesn't change the rx/tx window sizes when bluetooth
gets enabled or disabled, so this is fairly consistent with the Windows
driver.

deb573f1d7 mwifiex: Ensure the version string from the firmware is 0-terminated
We assume at a few places that priv->version_str is 0-terminated, but
right now we trust the firmware that this is the case with the version
string we get from it.

Let's rather ensure this ourselves and replace the last character with
'\0'.

939b571a3b mwifiex: Add quirk to disable deep sleep with certain hardware revision
The 88W8897 PCIe+USB card in the hardware revision 20 apparently has a
hardware issue where the card wakes up from deep sleep randomly and very
often, somewhat depending on the card activity, maybe the hardware has a
floating wakeup pin or something. This was found by comparing two MS
Surface Book 2 devices, where one devices wifi card experienced spurious
wakeups, while the other one didn't.

Those continuous wakeups prevent the card from entering host sleep when
the computer suspends. And because the host won't answer to events from
the card anymore while it's suspended, the firmwares internal power
saving state machine seems to get confused and the card can't sleep
anymore at all after that.

Since we can't work around that hardware bug in the firmware, let's
get the hardware revision string from the firmware and match it with
known bad revisions. Then disable auto deep sleep for those revisions,
which makes sure we no longer get those spurious wakeups.

2d1d7091dd mwifiex: Use a define for firmware version string length
Since the version string we get from the firmware is always 128
characters long, use a define for this size instead of having the number
128 copied all over the place.

04d80663f6 mwifiex: Fix skb_over_panic in mwifiex_usb_recv()
Currently, with an unknown recv_type, mwifiex_usb_recv
just return -1 without restoring the skb. Next time
mwifiex_usb_rx_complete is invoked with the same skb,
calling skb_put causes skb_over_panic.

The bug is triggerable with a compromised/malfunctioning
usb device. After applying the patch, skb_over_panic
no longer shows up with the same input.

Attached is the panic report from fuzzing.
