In the NIC ->probe() callback, ->mtd_probe() callback is called.
If NIC has 2 ports, ->probe() is called twice and ->mtd_probe() too.
In the ->mtd_probe(), which is efx_ef10_mtd_probe() it allocates and
initializes mtd partiion.
But mtd partition for sfc is shared data.
So that allocated mtd partition data from last called
efx_ef10_mtd_probe() will not be used.
Therefore it must be freed.
But it doesn't free a not used mtd partition data in efx_ef10_mtd_probe().

When building with allyesconfig there are many identical
symbol names.
For siena use efx_siena_ as the function and variable prefix
to avoid build errors.
efx_mtd_remove_partition can become static as it is no longer called
from other files.
efx_ticks_to_usecs and efx_xmit_done_single are not used in Siena, so
they are removed.
Several functions are only used inside efx_channels.c for Siena so
they can become static.

Functionality not supported or needed on Siena includes:
- Anything for EF100
- EF10 specifics such as register access, PIO and TSO offload.
Also only bind to Siena NICs.
Remove EF10 specifics from nic.h.
The functions that start with efx_farch_ will be removed from sfc.ko
with a subsequent patch.
Add the efx_ prefix to siena_prepare_flush() to make it consistent
with the other APIs.

It fixes memory leak in ring buffer change logic.
When ring buffer size is changed(ethtool -G eth0 rx 4096), sfc driver
works like below.
1. stop all channels and remove ring buffers.
2. allocates new buffer array.
3. allocates rx buffers.
4. start channels.
While the above steps are working, it skips some steps if the channel
doesn't have a ->copy callback function.
Due to ptp channel doesn't have ->copy callback, these above steps are
skipped for ptp channel.
It eventually makes some problems.
a. ptp channel's ring buffer size is not changed, it works only
1024(default).
b. memory leak.
The reason for memory leak is to use the wrong ring buffer values.
There are some values, which is related to ring buffer size.
a. efx->rxq_entries
- This is global value of rx queue size.
b. rx_queue->ptr_mask
- used for access ring buffer as circular ring.
- roundup_pow_of_two(efx->rxq_entries) - 1
c. rx_queue->max_fill
- efx->rxq_entries - EFX_RXD_HEAD_ROOM
These all values should be based on ring buffer size consistently.
But ptp channel's values are not.
a. efx->rxq_entries
- This is global(for sfc) value, always new ring buffer size.
b. rx_queue->ptr_mask
- This is always 1023(default).
c. rx_queue->max_fill
- This is new ring buffer size - EFX_RXD_HEAD_ROOM.
Let's assume we set 4096 for rx ring buffer,
normal channel ptp channel
efx->rxq_entries 4096 4096
rx_queue->ptr_mask 4095 1023
rx_queue->max_fill 4086 4086
sfc driver allocates rx ring buffers based on these values.
When it allocates ptp channel's ring buffer, 4086 ring buffers are
allocated then, these buffers are attached to the allocated array.
But ptp channel's ring buffer array size is still 1024(default)
and ptr_mask is still 1023 too.
So, 3062 ring buffers will be overwritten to the array.
This is the reason for memory leak.
Test commands:
ethtool -G <interface name> rx 4096
while :

ip link set <interface name> down
done
In order to avoid this problem, it adds ->copy callback to ptp channel
type.
So that rx_queue->ptr_mask value will be updated correctly.

The 8000 series and newer NICs all get hardware timestamps from the MAC
and can provide timestamps on a normal TX queue, rather than via a slow
path through the MC. As such we can use this path for any packet where a
hardware timestamp is requested.
This also enables support for PTP over transports other than IPv4+UDP.

Even if an IOMMU might be present for some PCI segment in the system,
that doesn't necessarily mean it provides translation for the device
we care about. It appears that what we care about here is specifically
whether DMA mapping ops involve any IOMMU overhead or not, so check for
translation actually being active for our device.

In some cases, xdp tx_queue can get used before initialization.
1. interface up/down
2. ring buffer size change
When CPU cores are lower than maximum number of channels of sfc driver,
it creates new channels only for XDP.
When an interface is up or ring buffer size is changed, all channels
are initialized.
But xdp channels are always initialized later.
So, the below scenario is possible.
Packets are received to rx queue of normal channels and it is acted
XDP_TX and tx_queue of xdp channels get used.
But these tx_queues are not initialized yet.
If so, TX DMA or queue error occurs.
In order to avoid this problem.
1. initializes xdp tx_queues earlier than other rx_queue in
efx_start_channels().
2. checks whether tx_queue is initialized or not in efx_xdp_tx_buffers().

seqno could be read as a stale value outside of the lock. The lock is
already acquired to protect the modification of seqno against a possible
race condition. Place the reading of this value also inside this locking
to protect it against a possible race condition.

Affinity hints were being set to CPUs in local NUMA node first, and then
in other CPUs. This was creating 2 unintended issues:
1. Channels created to be assigned each to a different physical core
were assigned to hyperthreading siblings because of being in same
NUMA node.
Since the patch previous to this one, this did not longer happen
with default rss_cpus modparam because less channels are created.
2. XDP channels could be assigned to CPUs in different NUMA nodes,
decreasing performance too much (to less than half in some of my
tests).
This patch sets the affinity hints spreading the channels only in local
NUMA node's CPUs. A fallback for the case that no CPU in local NUMA node
is online has been added too.
Example of CPUs being assigned in a non optimal way before this and the
previous patch (note: in this system, xdp-8 to xdp-15 are created
because num_possible_cpus == 64, but num_present_cpus == 32 so they're
never used):

Handling channels from CPUs in different NUMA node can penalize
performance, so better configure only one channel per core in the same
NUMA node than the NIC, and not per each core in the system.
Fallback to all other online cores if there are not online CPUs in local
NUMA node.

Ideally the size would depend on the link speed, but the recycle
ring is created when the interface is brought up before the driver
knows the link speed. So size it for the maximum speed of a given NIC.
PowerPC is only supported on SFN7xxx and SFN8xxx NICs.
With this patch on a 40G NIC the number of calls to alloc_pages and
friends went down from about 18% to under 2%.
On a 10G NIC the number of calls to alloc_pages and friends went down
from about 15% to 0 (perf did not capture any calls during the 60
second test).
On a 100G NIC the number of calls to alloc_pages and friends went down
from about 23% to 4%.

The RX page_ring is an optional feature that improves
performance. When allocation fails the driver can still
function, but possibly with a lower bandwidth.

sock.h is pretty heavily used (5k objects rebuilt on x86 after
it's touched). We can drop the include of filter.h from it and
add a forward declaration of struct sk_filter instead.
This decreases the number of rebuilt objects when bpf.h
is touched from ~5k to ~1k.

Since commit 94dd016ae5 ("bond: pass get_ts_info and SIOC[SG]HWTSTAMP
ioctl to active device") the user could get bond active interface's
PHC index directly. But when there is a failover, the bond active
interface will change, thus the PHC index is also changed. This may
break the user's program if they did not update the PHC timely.
This patch adds a new hwtstamp_config flag HWTSTAMP_FLAG_BONDED_PHC_INDEX.
When the user wants to get the bond active interface's PHC, they need to
add this flag and be aware the PHC index may be changed.
With the new flag. All flag checks in current drivers are removed. Only
the checking in net_hwtstamp_validate() is kept.

In non trivial scenarios, the action id alone is not sufficient to
identify the program causing the warning. Before the previous patch,
the generated stack-trace pointed out at least the involved device
driver.
Let's additionally include the program name and id, and the relevant
device name.
If the user needs additional infos, he can fetch them via a kernel
probe, leveraging the arguments added here.

The 1/10GbaseT modes were set up for cards with SFP+ cages in
3497ed8c85 ("sfc: report supported link speeds on SFP connections").
10GbaseT was likely used since no 10G fibre mode existed.
The missing fibre modes for 1/10G were added to ethtool.h in 5711a98221
("net: ethtool: add support for 1000BaseX and missing 10G link modes")
shortly thereafter.

Everything except the first 32 bits was lost when the pause flags were
added. This makes the 50000baseCR2 mode flag (bit 34) not appear.
I have tested this with a 10G card (SFN5122F-R7) by modifying it to
return a non-legacy link mode (10000baseCR).

This big patch sprinkles const on local variables and
function arguments which may refer to netdev->dev_addr.
Commit 406f42fa0d ("net-next: When a bond have a massive amount
of VLANs...") introduced a rbtree for faster Ethernet address look
up. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all
the writes to it got through appropriate helpers.
Some of the changes here are not strictly required - const
is sometimes cast off but pointer is not used for writing.
It seems like it's still better to add the const in case
the code changes later or relevant -W flags get enabled
for the build.
No functional changes.

Previous patch addressed the situation of having some free resources for
xdp tx but not enough for one tx queue per CPU. This patch address the
worst case of not having resources at all for xdp tx.
Instead of using queues dedicated to xdp, normal queues used by network
stack are shared for both cases, using __netif_tx_lock for
synchronization. Also queue stop/restart must be considered in the xdp
path to avoid freezing the queue.
This is not the ideal situation we might want to be, and a performance
penalty is expected both for normal and xdp traffic, but at least XDP
will work in all possible situations (with a warning in the logs),
improving a bit the pain of not knowing in what situations we can use it
and in what situations we cannot.

If there are not enough resources to allocate one TX queue per core for
XDP TX it was completely disabled.
This patch implements a fallback solution for sharing the available
queues using __netif_tx_lock for synchronization. In the normal case that
there is one TX queue per CPU, no locking is done, as it was before.
With this fallback solution, XDP TX will work in much more cases that
were failing, specially in machines with many CPUs. It's hard for XDP
users to know what features are supported across different NICs and
configurations, so they will benefit on having wider support.

yet, which results in very ugly messages.

read the full VPD data into it.
This avoids having to allocate a buffer on the stack, and we don't have to
make any assumptions on VPD size and location of information in VPD.

just for the falcon chip version.

politely asks Kconfig to turn on another symbol, but does not prevent
it from being disabled manually or built as a loadable module when the

This is a recurring problem in many drivers, and we have discussed
it several times befores, without reaching a consensus. I'm providing
a link to the previous email thread for reference, which discusses
some related problems.
To solve the dependency issue better than the 'imply' keyword, introduce a
separate Kconfig symbol "CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK_OPTIONAL" that any driver
can depend on if it is able to use PTP support when available, but works
fine without it. Whenever CONFIG_PTP_1588_CLOCK=m, those drivers are
then prevented from being built-in, the same way as with a 'depends on
PTP_1588_CLOCK || !PTP_1588_CLOCK' dependency that does the same trick,
but that can be rather confusing when you first see it.
Since this should cover the dependencies correctly, the IS_REACHABLE()
hack in the header is no longer needed now, and can be turned back
into a normal IS_ENABLED() check. Any driver that gets the dependency
wrong will now cause a link time failure rather than being unable to use
PTP support when that is in a loadable module.
However, the two recently added ptp_get_vclocks_index() and
ptp_convert_timestamp() interfaces are only called from builtin code with
ethtool and socket timestamps, so keep the current behavior by stubbing
those out completely when PTP is in a loadable module. This should be
addressed properly in a follow-up.
As Richard suggested, we may want to actually turn PTP support into a
'bool' option later on, preventing it from being a loadable module
altogether, which would be one way to solve the problem with the ethtool
interface.

Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement
the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware
timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP.
Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to
implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands.
This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find
their way through the implementation.

If it's not possible to allocate enough channels for XDP, XDP_TX and
XDP_REDIRECT don't work. However, only a message saying that not enough
channels were available was shown, but not saying what are the
consequences in that case. The user didn't know if he/she can use XDP
or not, if the performance is reduced, or what.

Commit 99ba0ea616 ("sfc: adjust efx->xdp_tx_queue_count with the real
number of initialized queues") intended to fix a problem caused by a
round up when calculating the number of XDP channels and queues.
However, this was not the real problem. The real problem was that the
number of XDP TX queues had been reduced to half in
commit e26ca4b535 ("sfc: reduce the number of requested xdp ev queues"),
but the variable xdp_tx_queue_count had remained the same.
Once the correct number of XDP TX queues is created again in the
previous patch of this series, this also can be reverted since the error
doesn't actually exist.
Only in the case that there is a bug in the code we can have different
values in xdp_queue_number and efx->xdp_tx_queue_count. Because of this,
and per Edward Cree's suggestion, I add instead a WARN_ON to catch if it
happens again in the future.
Note that the number of allocated queues can be higher than the number
of used ones due to the round up, as explained in the existing comment
in the code. That's why we also have to stop increasing xdp_queue_number
beyond efx->xdp_tx_queue_count.

Fixes: e26ca4b535 sfc: reduce the number of requested xdp ev queues
The buggy commit intended to allocate less channels for XDP in order to
be more unlikely to reach the limit of 32 channels of the driver.
The idea was to use each IRQ/eventqeue for more XDP TX queues than
before, calculating which is the maximum number of TX queues that one
event queue can handle. For example, in EF10 each event queue could
handle up to 8 queues, better than the 4 they were handling before the
change. This way, it would have to allocate half of channels than before
for XDP TX.
The problem is that the TX queues are also contained inside the channel
structs, and there are only 4 queues per channel. Reducing the number of
channels means also reducing the number of queues, resulting in not
having the desired number of 1 queue per CPU.
This leads to getting errors on XDP_TX and XDP_REDIRECT if they're
executed from a high numbered CPU, because there only exist queues for
the low half of CPUs, actually. If XDP_TX/REDIRECT is executed in a low
numbered CPU, the error doesn't happen. This is the error in the logs
(repeated many times, even rate limited):

This errors happens in function efx_xdp_tx_buffers, where it expects to
have a dedicated XDP TX queue per CPU.
Reverting the change makes again more likely to reach the limit of 32
channels in machines with many CPUs. If this happen, no XDP_TX/REDIRECT
will be possible at all, and we will have this log error messages:
At interface probe:
sfc 0000:5e:00.0: Insufficient resources for 12 XDP event queues (24 other channels, max 32)
At every subsequent XDP_TX/REDIRECT failure, rate limited:
sfc 0000:5e:00.0 ens3f0np0: XDP TX failed (-22)
However, without reverting the change, it makes the user to think that
everything is OK at probe time, but later it fails in an unpredictable
way, depending on the CPU that handles the packet.
It is better to restore the predictable behaviour. If the user sees the
error message at probe time, he/she can try to configure the best way it
fits his/her needs. At least, he/she will have 2 options:
- Accept that XDP_TX/REDIRECT is not available (he/she may not need it)
- Load sfc module with modparam 'rss_cpus' with a lower number, thus
creating less normal RX queues/channels, letting more free resources
for XDP, with some performance penalty.
Anyway, let the calculation of maximum TX queues that can be handled by
a single event queue, and use it only if it's less than the number of TX
queues per channel. This doesn't happen in practice, but could happen if
some constant values are tweaked in the future, such us

The sfc driver has rcu_read_lock()/rcu_read_unlock() pairs around XDP
program invocations. However, the actual lifetime of the objects referred
by the XDP program invocation is longer, all the way through to the call to
xdp_do_flush(), making the scope of the rcu_read_lock() too small. This
turns out to be harmless because it all happens in a single NAPI poll
cycle (and thus under local_bh_disable()), but it makes the rcu_read_lock()
misleading.
Rather than extend the scope of the rcu_read_lock(), just get rid of it
entirely. With the addition of RCU annotations to the XDP_REDIRECT map
types that take bh execution into account, lockdep even understands this to
be safe, so there's really no reason to keep it around.

During SRIOV disabling it is checked wether any VF is currently attached
to a guest, using pci_vfs_assigned function. However, this check only
works with VFs attached with Xen, not with vfio/KVM. Added comments
clarifying this point.
Also, replaced manual check of PCI_DEV_FLAGS_ASSIGNED flag and used the
helper function pci_is_dev_assigned instead.

If SRIOV cannot be disabled during device removal or module unloading,
return error code so it can be logged properly in the calling function.
Note that this can only happen if any VF is currently attached to a
guest using Xen, but not with vfio/KVM. Despite that in that case the
VFs won't work properly with PF removed and/or the module unloaded, I
have let it as is because I don't know what side effects may have
changing it, and also it seems to be the same that other drivers are
doing in this situation.
In the case of being called during SRIOV reconfiguration, the behavior
hasn't changed because the function is called with force=false.

If pci_remove was called for a PF with VFs, the removal of the VFs was
called twice from efx_ef10_sriov_fini: one directly with pci_driver->remove
and another implicit by calling pci_disable_sriov, which also perform
the VFs remove. This was leading to crashing the kernel on the second
attempt.
Given that pci_disable_sriov already calls to pci remove function, get
rid of the direct call to pci_driver->remove from the driver.
2 different ways to trigger the bug:
- Create one or more VFs, then attach the PF to a virtual machine (at
least with qemu/KVM)
- Create one or more VFs, then remove the PF with:
echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/PF_PCI_ID/remove
Removing sfc module does not trigger the error, at least for me, because
it removes the VF first, and then the PF.

SFC driver can be configured via modparam to work using MSI-X, MSI or
legacy IRQ interrupts. In the last one, the interrupt was not properly
released on module remove.
It was not freed because the flag irqs_hooked was not set during
initialization in the case of using legacy IRQ.

messages like the following:

We're starting from a TXQ label, not a TXQ type, so
efx_channel_get_tx_queue() is inappropriate. This worked by chance,
because labels and types currently match on EF10, but we shouldn't
rely on that.

Don't report the per-lane symbol counts, if those really
count symbols they are not what the standard calls for
(even if symbols seem like the most useful thing to count.)
Fingers crossed that fec_corrected_errors is not in symbols.

We want to change the current ndo_xdp_xmit drop semantics because it will
allow us to implement better queue overflow handling. This is working
towards the larger goal of a XDP TX queue-hook. Move XDP_REDIRECT error
path handling from each XDP ethernet driver to devmap code. According to
the new APIs, the driver running the ndo_xdp_xmit pointer, will break tx
loop whenever the hw reports a tx error and it will just return to devmap
caller the number of successfully transmitted frames. It will be devmap
responsibility to free dropped frames.
Move each XDP ndo_xdp_xmit capable driver to the new APIs:

Without this change the driver tries to allocate too many queues,
breaching the number of available msi-x interrupts on machines
with many logical cpus and default adapter settings:
Insufficient resources for 12 XDP event queues (24 other channels, max 32)
Which in turn triggers EINVAL on XDP processing:

Add napi_id to the xdp_rxq_info structure, and make sure the XDP
socket pick up the napi_id in the Rx path. The napi_id is used to find
the corresponding NAPI structure for socket busy polling.

We can treat SKB_GSO_GRE almost exactly the same as UDP tunnels, except
that we don't want to edit the outer UDP len (as there isn't one).
For SKB_GSO_GRE_CSUM, we have to use GSO_PARTIAL as the device doesn't
support offload of non-UDP outer L4 checksums.

By asking the HW for the correct edits, we can make UDP tunnel TSO
work without needing GSO_PARTIAL. So don't specify it in our
netdev->gso_partial_features.
However, retain GSO_PARTIAL support, as this will be used for other
protocols later.

AIUI, the NETIF_F_TSO_MANGLEID flag is a signal to the stack that a
driver may _need_ to mangle IDs in order to do TSO, and conversely
a signal from the stack that the driver is permitted to do so.
Since we support both fixed and incrementing IPIDs, we should rely
on the SKB_GSO_FIXEDID flag on a per-skb basis, rather than using
the MANGLEID feature to make all TSOs fixed-id.
Includes other minor cleanups of ef100_make_tso_desc() coding style.

The NIC only needs to know where the headers it has to edit (TCP and
inner and outer IPv4) are, which fits GSO_PARTIAL nicely.
It also supports non-PARTIAL offload of UDP tunnels, again just
needing to be told the outer transport offset so that it can edit
the UDP length field.
(It's not clear to me whether the stack will ever use the non-PARTIAL
version with the netdev feature flags we're setting here.)

efx_ef10_try_update_nic_stats_vf() used in_interrupt() to figure out
whether it is safe to sleep (for MCDI) or not.
The only caller from which it was not is efx_net_stats(), which can be
invoked under dev_base_lock from net-sysfs::netstat_show().
So add a new update_stats_atomic() method to struct efx_nic_type, and call
it from efx_net_stats(), removing the need for
efx_ef10_try_update_nic_stats_vf() to behave differently for this case
(which it wasn't doing correctly anyway).
For all nic_types other than EF10 VF, this method is NULL so the the
regular update_stats() methods are invoked , which are happy with being
called from atomic contexts.

As part of the W=1 cleanups for ethernet, a million [*] driver
comments had to be cleaned up to get the W=1 compilation to
succeed. This change finally makes the drivers/net/ethernet tree
compile with W=1 set on the command line. NOTE: The kernel uses
kdoc style (see Documentation/process/kernel-doc.rst) when
documenting code, not doxygen or other styles.
After this patch the x86_64 build has no warnings from W=1, however
scripts/kernel-doc says there are 1545 more warnings in source files, that
I need to develop a script to fix in a followup patch.
The errors fixed here are all kdoc of a few classes, with a few outliers:

The register reads should be OK, because the current
implementation of readl and friends will always execute even
without an lvalue.
When it makes sense, just remove the lvalue assignment and the
local. Other times, just remove the offending code, and
occasionally, just mark the variable as maybe unused since it
could be used in an ifdef or debug scenario.
Only compile tested with W=1.

Two minor conflicts:
1) net/ipv4/route.c, adding a new local variable while
moving another local variable and removing it's
initial assignment.
2) drivers/net/dsa/microchip/ksz9477.c, overlapping changes.
One pretty prints the port mode differently, whilst another
changes the driver to try and obtain the port mode from
the port node rather than the switch node.

Remove the tx_queue->handle_tso function pointer, and just use
tx_queue->tso_version to decide which function to call, thus removing
an indirect call from the fast path.
Instead of passing a tso_v2 flag to efx_mcdi_tx_init(), set the desired
tx_queue->tso_version before calling it.
In efx_mcdi_tx_init(), report back failure to obtain a TSOv2 context by
setting tx_queue->tso_version to 0, which will cause the TX path to
use the GSO-based fallback.

Make it possible to have an arbitrary mapping from types to labels,
because when we add inner-csum-offload TXQs there will no longer be a
convenient nesting hierarchy of NIC types (EF10 will have inner-csum
TXQs, while Siena will have HIGHPRI).
Correct a misleading comment on efx_hard_start_xmit().

Christoph says[1] that dma_set_mask_and_coherent() is smart enough to
truncate the mask itself if it's too long. So we can get rid of our
"lop off one bit and retry" loop in efx_init_io().

If the reported PHY capabilities do not include a given FEC mode, don't
attempt to select that FEC mode anyway. If the user tries to set a mode
through ethtool that is not supported, return an error.
The _REQUESTED bits don't appear in the supported caps, but are implied
by the corresponding FEC bits.

Originally there were several implementations of PHY operations for the
several different PHYs used on Falcon boards. But Falcon is now in a
separate driver, and all sfc NICs since then have had MCDI-managed PHYs.
Thus, there is no need to indirect through function pointers in
efx->phy_op; we can simply call the efx_mcdi_phy_* functions directly.
This also hooks up these functions for EF100, which was previously using
the dummy_phy_ops.

dev_close(), by way of ef100_net_stop(), already brings down the filter
table, so there's no need to do it again (which just causes lots of
WARN_ONs).
Similarly, don't bring it up ourselves, as dev_open() -> ef100_net_open()
will do it, and will fail if it's already been brought up.

This should cause no functional change; merely make there only be one
design of xmit_more handling to understand. As with the EF10/Siena
version, we set tx_queue->xmit_pending when we queue up a TX, and
clear it when we ring the doorbell (in ef100_notify_tx_desc).
While we're at it, make ef100_notify_tx_desc static since nothing
outside of ef100_tx.c uses it.

Instead of using efx_tx_queue_partner(), which relies on the assumption
that tx_queues_per_channel is 2, efx_tx_send_pending() iterates over
txqs with efx_for_each_channel_tx_queue().
We unconditionally set tx_queue->xmit_pending (renamed from
xmit_more_available), then condition on xmit_more for the call to
efx_tx_send_pending(), which will clear xmit_pending. Thus, after an
xmit_more TX, the doorbell is un-rung and xmit_pending is true.

W=1 warnings indicated that 'rc' was unused in efx_mcdi_set_id_led();
change the function to return int instead of void and plumb the rc
through the caller efx_ethtool_phys_id().
Since (post-Falcon) all sfc NICs use MCDI for this, there's no point in
indirecting through a nic_type method, so remove that and just call
efx_mcdi_set_id_led() directly.

check_fcs() was returning bool as 0/1, which was a sign that the sense
of the function was unclear: false was good, which doesn't really match
a name like 'check_$thing'. So rename it to ef100_has_fcs_error(), and
use proper booleans in the return statements.

If efx_nic_init_interrupt fails, or was never run (e.g. due to an earlier
failure in ef100_net_open), freeing irqs in efx_nic_fini_interrupt is not
needed and will cause error messages and stack traces.
So instead, only do this if efx_nic_init_interrupt successfully completed,
as indicated by the new efx->irqs_hooked flag.

If an ef100_net_open() fails, ef100_net_stop() may be called without
channel->rps_flow_id having been written; thus it may hold the address
freed by a previous ef100_net_stop()'s call to efx_remove_filters().
This then causes a double-free when efx_remove_filters() is called
again, leading to a panic.
To prevent this, after freeing it, overwrite it with NULL.

When downing and upping the ef100 filter table, we need to take a write
lock on efx->filter_sem, not just a read lock, because we may kfree()
the table pointers.
Without this, resets cause a WARN_ON from efx_rwsem_assert_write_locked().

On EF100, the RX hash field in the packet prefix may not be valid (e.g.
if the header parse failed), and this is indicated by a one-bit flag
elsewhere in the packet prefix. Only call skb_set_hash() if the
RSS_HASH_VALID bit is set.

The handling of the RXQ/TXQ size granularity design-params had two
problems: it had a 64-bit divide that didn't build on 32-bit platforms,
and it could divide by zero if the NIC supplied 0 as the value of the
design-param. Fix both by checking for 0 and for a granularity bigger
than our min-size; if the granularity <= EFX_MIN_DMAQ_SIZE then it fits
in 32 bits, so we can cast it to u32 for the divide.

MAC stats work much the same as on EF10, with a periodic DMA to a region

Several parts of the EF100 architecture are parameterised (to allow
varying capabilities on FPGAs according to resource constraints), and
these parameters are exposed to the driver through a TLV-encoded
region of the BAR.
For the most part we either don't care about these values at all or
just need to sanity-check them against the driver's assumptions, but
there are a number of TSO limits which we record so that we will be
able to check against them in the TX path when handling GSO skbs.

In the future, EF100 is planned to have a credit-based scheme for
handling unsolicited events, which drivers will need to use in order
to function correctly. However, current EF100 hardware does not yet
generate unsolicited events and the credit scheme has not yet been
implemented in firmware. To prevent compatibility problems later if
the current driver is used with future firmware which does implement
it, we check for the corresponding capability flag (which that
future firmware will set), and if found, we refuse to probe.

descriptor; if the NIC is somehow running the very old firmware
which will use that format, fail the probe.

We can't actually do the MCDI to probe it fully until we have working
MCDI, which comes later, but we need efx->phy_data to be allocated so
that when we get MCDI events the link-state change handler doesn't
NULL-dereference.

No TX or RX path, no MCDI, not even an ifup/down handler.
Besides stubs, the bulk of the patch deals with reading the Xilinx
extended PCIe capability, which tells us where to find our BAR.
Though in the same module, EF100 has its own struct pci_driver,
which is named sfc_ef100.
A small number of additional nic_type methods are added; those in the
TX (tx_enqueue) and RX (rx_packet) paths are called through indirect
call wrappers to minimise the performance impact.

An MDIO-based n-way restart does not make sense for any of the NICs
supported by this driver, nor for the coming EF100.
Unlike on Falcon (which was already split off into a separate driver),
the PHY on all of Siena, EF10 and EF100 is managed by MC firmware.
While Siena can talk to the PHY over MDIO, doing so for anything other
than debugging purposes (mdio_mii_ioctl) is likely to confuse the
firmware.
(According to the SFC firmware team, this support was originally added
to the Siena driver early in the development of that product, before
it was decided to have firmware manage the PHY.)

list_for_each_safe is able to handle an empty list.
The only effect of avoiding the loop is not initializing the
index variable.
Drop list_empty tests in cases where these variables are not
used.

Now that BPF program/link management is centralized in generic net_device
code, kernel code never queries program id from drivers, so
XDP_QUERY_PROG/XDP_QUERY_PROG_HW commands are unnecessary.
This patch removes all the implementations of those commands in kernel, along
the xdp_attachment_query().
This patch was compile-tested on allyesconfig.

Check MC_CMD_DRV_ATTACH_EXT_OUT_FLAG_TRUSTED, before setting
the info, which will hopefully protect us from -EPERM errors
the previous code was gracefully ignoring. Ed reports this
is not the 100% correct bit, but it's the best approximation
we have. Shared code reports the port information back to user
space, so we really want to know what was added and what failed.
Ignoring -EPERM is not an option.
The driver does not call udp_tunnel_get_rx_info(), so its own
management of table state is not really all that problematic,
we can leave it be. This allows the driver to continue with its
copious table syncing, and matching the ports to TX frames,
which it will reportedly do one day.
Leave the feature checking in the callbacks, as the device may
remove the capabilities on reset.
Inline the loop from __efx_ef10_udp_tnl_lookup_port() into
efx_ef10_udp_tnl_has_port(), since it's the only caller now.
With new infra this driver gains port replace - when space frees
up in a full table a new port will be selected for offload.
Plus efx will no longer sleep in an atomic context.

The method struct pci_error_handlers.error_detected() is defined and
documented as taking an 'enum pci_channel_state' for the second argument,
but most drivers use 'pci_channel_state_t' instead.
This 'pci_channel_state_t' is not a typedef for the enum but a typedef for
a bitwise type in order to have better/stricter typechecking.
Consolidate everything by using 'pci_channel_state_t' in the method's
definition, in the related helpers and in the drivers.
Enforce use of 'pci_channel_state_t' by replacing 'enum pci_channel_state'
with an anonymous 'enum'.
Note: Currently, from a typechecking point of view this patch changes
nothing because only the constants defined by the enum are bitwise, not the
enum itself (sparse doesn't have the notion of 'bitwise enum'). This may
change in some not too far future, hence the patch.

Since we only allocate VIs for the number of TXQs we actually need, we
cannot naively use "channel * TXQ_TYPES + txq" for the TXQ number, as
this has gaps (when efx->tx_queues_per_channel < EFX_TXQ_TYPES) and
thus overruns the driver's VI allocations, causing the firmware to
reject the MC_CMD_INIT_TXQ based on INSTANCE.
Thus, we distinguish INSTANCE (stored in tx_queue->queue) from LABEL
(tx_queue->label); the former is allocated starting from 0 in
efx_set_channels(), while the latter is simply the txq type (index in
channel->tx_queue array).
To simplify things, rather than changing tx_queues_per_channel after
setting up TXQs, make Siena always probe its HIGHPRI queues at start
of day, rather than deferring it until tc mqprio enables them.

Siena needs four TX queues (csum * highpri), EF10 needs two (csum),
and EF100 only needs one (as checksumming is controlled entirely by
the transmit descriptor). Rather than having various bits of ad-hoc
code to decide which queues to set up etc., put the knowledge of how
many TXQs a channel has in one place.

EF100 only supports MSI-X, so there's no need for the new driver to
expose this old module parameter.
Since it's now visible to the linker, we have to rename it internally
to efx_interrupt_mode to avoid symbol collisions in non-modular
builds.

All NICs supported by this driver are capable of MSI-X interrupts (only
Falcon A1 wasn't, and that's now hived off into its own driver), so no
need for a nic-type parameter. Besides, the code that checked it was
buggy anyway (the following assignment that checked min_interrupt_mode
overrode it).

Unprivileged functions (such as VFs) may set their MTU by use of the
'control' field of MC_CMD_SET_MAC_EXT, as used in efx_mcdi_set_mtu().
If calling efx_ef10_mac_reconfigure() from efx_change_mtu(), and the
NIC supports the above (SET_MAC_ENHANCED capability), use it rather
than efx_mcdi_set_mac().

EF100 will use CHECKSUM_COMPLETE, but will also make use of
efx_rx_packet_gro(), thus needs to be able to pass the checksum value
into that function.
Drivers for older NICs pass in a csum of 0 to get the old semantics (use
the RX flags for CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY marking).

The new nic_common.h contains the inlines for NIC-type function dispatch,
declarations for NIC-generic functions in nic.c, and other similar NIC-
generic functionality. Retained in nic.h are NIC-specific declarations
such as the siena and ef10 nic_data structs and various farch functions.
The EF100 driver will thus include nic_common.h but not nic.h.

This driver uses RX page-split when possible. It was recently fixed
in commit 86e85bf698 ("sfc: fix XDP-redirect in this driver") to
add needed tailroom for XDP-redirect.
After the fix efx->rx_page_buf_step is the frame size, with enough
head and tail-room for XDP-redirect.

Store the mc_chaining bit in struct efx_mcdi_filter_table, so that common
code in mcdi_filters.c doesn't need to get it from ef10-specific nic_data.
Also, probe the firmware workaround just before the call to
efx_mcdi_filter_table_probe(), rather than in a random other part of the
driver bringup, to ensure that (a) it gets probed in time and (b) it gets
reprobed as necessary on resets, no matter how the surrounding code gets
reorganised and reordered.

either struct efx_nic (in the case of must_realloc_vis) or struct

Various MCDI functions (especially in filter handling) need to check the
datapath caps, but those live in nic_data (since they don't exist on
Siena). Decouple from ef10-specific data structures by adding check_caps
to the nic_type, to allow using these functions from non-ef10 drivers.
Also add a convenience macro efx_has_cap() to reduce the amount of
boilerplate involved in calling it.

XDP-redirect is broken in this driver sfc. XDP_REDIRECT requires
tailroom for skb_shared_info when creating an SKB based on the
redirected xdp_frame (both in cpumap and veth).
The fix requires some initial explaining. The driver uses RX page-split
when possible. It reserves the top 64 bytes in the RX-page for storing
dma_addr (struct efx_rx_page_state). It also have the XDP recommended
headroom of XDP_PACKET_HEADROOM (256 bytes). As it doesn't reserve any
tailroom, it can still fit two standard MTU (1500) frames into one page.
The sizeof struct skb_shared_info in 320 bytes. Thus drivers like ixgbe
and i40e, reduce their XDP headroom to 192 bytes, which allows them to
fit two frames with max 1536 bytes into a 4K page (192+1536+320=2048).
The fix is to reduce this drivers headroom to 128 bytes and add the 320
bytes tailroom. This account for reserved top 64 bytes in the page, and
still fit two frame in a page for normal MTUs.
We must never go below 128 bytes of headroom for XDP, as one cacheline
is for xdp_frame area and next cacheline is reserved for metadata area.

Corresponds to the MAC_SPOOFING_TX privilege in the hardware.
Some firmware versions on some cards don't support the feature, so check
the TX_MAC_SECURITY capability and fail EOPNOTSUPP if trying to enable
spoofchk on a NIC that doesn't support it.

Converting fallthrough comments to fallthrough; creates warnings
in this code when compiled with gcc.
This code is overly complicated and reads rather better with a
little refactoring and no fallthrough uses at all.
Remove the fallthrough comments and simplify the written source
code while reducing the object code size.
Consolidate duplicated switch/case blocks for IPV4 and IPV6.

It's a resource, not a parameter, so we can't copy it into the new
channel's TX queues, otherwise aliasing will lead to resource-
management bugs if the channel is subsequently torn down without
being initialised.
Before the Fixes:-tagged commit there was a similar bug with
tsoh_page, but I'm not sure it's worth doing another fix for such
old kernels.

We now ignore the "completion" event when using tx queue timestamping,
and only pay attention to the two (high and low) timestamp events. The
NIC will send a pair of timestamp events for every packet transmitted.
The current firmware may merge the completion events, and it is possible
that future versions may reorder the completion and timestamp events.
As such the completion event is not useful.
Without this patch in place a merged completion event on a queue with
timestamping will cause a "spurious TX completion" error. This affects
SFN8000-series adapters.

We can't just use the top bits of the last sync event as they could be
off-by-one every 65,536 seconds, giving an error in reconstruction of
65,536 seconds.
This patch uses the difference in the bottom 16 bits (mod 2^16) to
calculate an offset that needs to be applied to the last sync event to
get to the current time.

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:

};
By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.
Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by
this change:
"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]
This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

Correct a mismatch between rx_page_buf_step and the actual step size

In the long run we intend to rewrite the channel allocation code, but for
'net' fix this by allocating extra_channels, and giving them TX queues,
even if we do not in fact need them (e.g. on NICs without MAC TX
timestamping), and thereby using simpler logic to assign the channels

If there's no traffic on a channel, its ARFS expiry work will never get
scheduled by efx_poll() as that isn't being run.
So make efx_filter_rfs_expire() reschedule itself to run after 30 seconds.

In high connection count usage, the NIC's filter table may be filled with
sufficiently many ARFS filters that further insertions fail. As this
does not represent a correctness issue, do not log the resulting MCDI
errors. Add a debug-level message under the (by default disabled)
rx_status category instead; and take the opportunity to do a little extra
expiry work.
Since there are now multiple workitems able to call __efx_filter_rfs_expire
on a given channel, it is possible for them to race and thus pass quotas
which, combined, exceed rfs_filter_count. Thus, don't WARN_ON if we loop
all the way around the table with quota left over.

The old rfs_filters_added method for determining the quota could potentially
allow the NIC to become filled with old filters, which never get tested for
expiry. Instead, explicitly make expiry check work depend on the number of
filters installed, and don't count checking slots without filters in as
doing work. This guarantees that each filter will be checked for expiry at
least once every thirty seconds (assuming the channel to which it belongs is
NAPI polling actively) regardless of fill level.

The sfc driver can drop packets processed with XDP, notably when running
out of buffer space on XDP_TX, or returning an unknown XDP action.
This increments the rx_xdp_bad_drops ethtool counter.
Call trace_xdp_exception everywhere rx_xdp_bad_drops is incremented,
except for fragmented RX packets as the XDP program hasn't run yet.
This allows it to easily be monitored from userspace.
This mirrors the behavior of other drivers.

Each CPU needs access to its own queue to allow uncontested
transmission of XDP_TX packets. This means we need to allocate (up
front) enough channels ("xdp transmit channels") to provide at least
one extra tx queue per CPU. These tx queues should not do TSO.

Provide an ndo_bpf function to efx_netdev_ops that allows setting and
querying of xdp programs on an interface.
Also check that the MTU size isn't too big when setting a program or
when the MTU is explicitly set.

Adds a field to hold an attached xdp_prog, but never populates it (see
following patch). Also, XDP_TX support is deferred to a later patch
in the series.
Track failures of xdp_rxq_info_reg() via per-queue xdp_rxq_info_valid
flags and a per-nic xdp_rxq_info_failed flag. The per-queue flags are
needed to prevent attempts to xdp_rxq_info_unreg() structs that failed
to register. Possibly the API could be changed in the future to avoid
the need for these flags.

flag so that buffers that contain xdp_frames can be identified and
passed to xdp_return_frame.

We already scored points when handling the RX event, no-one else does this,
and looking at the history it appears this was originally meant to only
score on merges, not on GRO_NORMAL. Moreover, it gets in the way of
changing GRO to not immediately pass GRO_NORMAL skbs to the stack.
Performance testing with four TCP streams received on a single CPU (where
throughput was line rate of 9.4Gbps in all tests) showed a 13.7% reduction
in RX CPU usage (n=6, p=0.03).
