mtd: spi-nor: explicitly include <linux/of.h>
The core driver is using of_property_read_bool() and relies on implicit
inclusion of <linux/of.h>, which comes from <linux/mtd/mtd.h>.

It is good practice to directly include all headers used, it avoids
implicit dependencies and spurious breakage if someone rearranges
headers and causes the implicit include to vanish.

Include the missing header.

mtd: spi-nor: macronix: Add post_sfdp fixups for Quad Input Page Program
Although certain Macronix NOR flash support the Quad Input Page Program
feature, the corresponding information in the 4-byte Address Instruction
Table of these flash is not properly filled. As a result, this feature
cannot be enabled as expected.

To address this issue, a post_sfdp fixups implementation is required to
correct the missing information.

2a6a44555f mtd: Fix error handling in mtd_device_parse_register() error path
Check and log del_mtd_device() failures. Print an error message
with pr_err() to prevent silent failures, but preserve the original
error code instead of propagating the secondary error since
del_mtd_device() is already in an error handling path.

6697dae1e2 mtd: capture device name setting failure when adding mtd
syzbot reported a WARNING in release_mtd_partition. [1]

The reproducer uses "/proc/thread-self/fail-nth" to trigger the failure
of memory allocation when executing dev_set_name() in add_mtd_device(),
which eventually causes device_register() to fail because the device name
is not set, and finally triggers a warning in put_device().

The fix uses the higher level nand_reset(chip, chipnr); where chipnr = 0, when
doing PM resume operation in compliance with the controller support for single
die nand chip. Switching from nand_reset_op() to nand_reset() implies more
than just setting the cs field op->cs, it also reconfigures the data interface
(ie. the timings). Tested and confirmed the NAND chip is in sync timing wise
with host after the fix.

f2cb43c980 mtd: spinand: Add read retry support
When the host ECC fails to correct the data error of NAND device,
there's a special read for data recovery method which can be setup
by the host for the next read. There are several retry levels that
can be attempted until the lost data is recovered or definitely
assumed lost.

We are trying to get rid of all multiplications from allocation
functions to prevent integer overflows[1]. Here the multiplication is
obviously safe, but using kcalloc() is more appropriate and improves
readability. This patch has no effect on runtime behavior.

Fix broken config in qcom_param_page_type_exec caused by copy-paste error
from commit 0c08080fd7 ("mtd: rawnand: qcom: use FIELD_PREP and GENMASK")

In qcom_param_page_type_exec the value needs to be set to
nandc->regs->cfg0 instead of host->cfg0. This wrong configuration caused
the Qcom NANDC driver to malfunction on any device that makes use of it
(IPQ806x, IPQ40xx, IPQ807x, IPQ60xx) with the following error:

The MTD subsystem already supports accessing two OTP areas: user and
factory. User areas can be written by the user.

This patch provides the SPINAND_FACT_OTP_INFO and SPINAND_USER_OTP_INFO
macros to add parameters to spinand_info.
To implement OTP operations, the client (flash driver) is provided with
callbacks for user area:
    .read(), .write(), .info(), .lock(), .erase();
and for factory area:
    .read(), .info();

Add support for Winbond w25q01jv spi-nor chip.

This chip is internally made of two dies with linear addressing
capabilities to make it transparent to the user that two dies were
used. There is one drawback however, the read status operation is racy
as the status bit only gives the active die status and not the status of
the other die. For commands affecting the two dies, it means if another
command is sent too fast after the first die has returned a valid status
(deviation can be up to 200us), the chip will get corrupted/in an
unstable state.

This chip hence requires a better status register read. There are three
solutions here:

1- If we assume that the most common situation producing this problem is
status register writes, maybe we could change the "non-volatile"
status register write commands to become "volatile" status register
writes. In practice, what takes time is the write operation of the bits
themselves, and not the activation of the feature in the internal
circuitry. Enabling "volatile" status register writes would make the
writes nearly instant.

This approach, besides probably being the less impacting one, could
overlook other possible actions where both dies can be used at the same
time like a chip erase (or any erase over die boundaries in general).

2- Wait about 200us after getting a first status ready feedback. This
200us is about the maximum possible deviation between dies and would
cover all cases.

3- We iterate manually over all internal dies (which takes about 30us
per die) until all are ready. This approach will always be faster than
a blind delay which represents the maximum deviation, while also being
totally safe.

This third approach has been adopted. A flash-specific hook for the
status register read had to be implemented. Testing with the flash_speed
benchmark shown no difference with the existing performances (using the
regular status read core function). In practice there are difference in
the experimental results below, but they are part of the natural
deviation of the benchmark:

multi-die chips, which hence must be properly flagged. The SFDP tables
implemented give a lot of information but the die details are part of an
optional table that is not implemented, hence we use a post parsing
fixup hook to set the params->n_dice value manually.

1e1a9cecfa block: force noio scope in blk_mq_freeze_queue
When block drivers or the core block code perform allocations with a
frozen queue, this could try to recurse into the block device to
reclaim memory and deadlock.  Thus all allocations done by a process
that froze a queue need to be done without __GFP_IO and __GFP_FS.
Instead of tying to track all of them down, force a noio scope as
part of freezing the queue.

Note that nvme is a bit of a mess here due to the non-owner freezes,
and they will be addressed separately.

01099f635a ubi: Implement ioctl for detailed erase counters
Currently, "max_ec" can be read from sysfs, which provides a limited
view of the flash device’s wear. In certain cases, such as bugs in
the wear-leveling algorithm, specific blocks can be worn down more
than others, resulting in uneven wear distribution. Also some use cases
can wear the erase blocks of the fastmap area more heavily than other
parts of flash.
Providing detailed erase counter values give a better understanding of
the overall flash wear and is needed to be able to calculate for example
expected life time.
There exists more detailed info in debugfs, but this information is
only available for debug builds.

Commit 5580cdae05 ("ubi: wl: Close down wear-leveling before nand is
suspended") added a reboot notification in UBI layer to shutdown the
wear-leveling subsystem, which imported an UAF problem[1]. Besides that,
the method also brings other potential UAF problems, for example:

5580cdae05 ("ubi: wl: Close down wear-leveling before nand is
suspended") directly.

W25N01JW and W25N02JW use a different technology with higher frequencies
supported (up to 166MHz). There is one drawback though, the slowest
READ_FROM_CACHE command cannot run above 54MHz. Because of that, we need
to set a limit for these chips on the basic READ_FROM_CACHE variant.

Duplicating this list is not a problem because these chips have DTR
support, and the list of supported variants will diverge from all the
other chips when adding support for it.

Currently the best variant picked in the first one in the list provided
in the manufacturer driver. This worked well while all operations where
performed at the same speed, but with the introduction of DTR transfers
and per operation maximum frequencies, this no longer works correctly.

Let's continue iterating over all the alternatives, even if we find a
match, keeping a reference over the theoretically fastest
operation. Only at the end we can tell which variant is the best.

This logic happening only once at boot, the extra computing needed
compared to the previous version is acceptable wrt. the expected
improvements.

So far, the SPINAND_PAGE_READ_FROM_CACHE_OP macro was taking a first
argument, "fast", which was inducing the possibility to support higher
bus frequencies than with the normal (slower) read from cache
alternative. In practice, without frequency change on the bus, this was
likely without effect, besides perhaps allowing another variant of the
same command, that could run at the default highest speed. If we want to
support this fully, we need to add a frequency parameter to the slowest
command. But before we do that, let's drop the "fast" boolean from the
macro and duplicate it, this will further help supporting having
different frequencies allowed for each variant.

The change is also of course propagated to all users. It has the nice
effect to have all macros aligned on the same pattern.

d15638bf76 Revert "mtd: spi-nor: core: replace dummy buswidth from addr to data"
This reverts commit 98d1fb94ce.

The commit uses data nbits instead of addr nbits for dummy phase. This
causes a regression for all boards where spi-tx-bus-width is smaller
than spi-rx-bus-width. It is a common pattern for boards to have
spi-tx-bus-width == 1 and spi-rx-bus-width > 1. The regression causes
all reads with a dummy phase to become unavailable for such boards,
leading to a usually slower 0-dummy-cycle read being selected.

Most controllers' supports_op hooks call spi_mem_default_supports_op().
In spi_mem_default_supports_op(), spi_mem_check_buswidth() is called to
check if the buswidths for the op can actually be supported by the
board's wiring. This wiring information comes from (among other things)
the spi-{tx,rx}-bus-width DT properties. Based on these properties,
SPI_TX_* or SPI_RX_* flags are set by of_spi_parse_dt().
spi_mem_check_buswidth() then uses these flags to make the decision
whether an op can be supported by the board's wiring (in a way,
indirectly checking against spi-{rx,tx}-bus-width).

Now the tricky bit here is that spi_mem_check_buswidth() does:

The true argument to spi_check_buswidth_req() means the op is treated as
a TX op. For a board that has say 1-bit TX and 4-bit RX, a 4-bit dummy
TX is considered as unsupported, and the op gets rejected.

The commit being reverted uses the data buswidth for dummy buswidth. So
for reads, the RX buswidth gets used for the dummy phase, uncovering
this issue. In reality, a dummy phase is neither RX nor TX. As the name
suggests, these are just dummy cycles that send or receive no data, and
thus don't really need to have any buswidth at all.

Ideally, dummy phases should not be checked against the board's wiring
capabilities at all, and should only be sanity-checked for having a sane
buswidth value. Since we are now at rc7 and such a change might
introduce many unexpected bugs, revert the commit for now. It can be
sent out later along with the spi_mem_check_buswidth() fix.

We use the size as an indicator whether to parse SFDP or not. We don't
introduce a dedicated member for SFDP parsing because we'd like to keep
the struct size at a minimum, as it's used for every flash declaration.
Ideally we won't have flash entries at all, but there are still flash
parameters that aren't defined by SFDP, thus we need to statically
specify them.

spi: spi-mem: Extend spi-mem operations with a per-operation maximum frequency
In the spi subsystem, the bus frequency is derived as follows:
- the controller may expose a minimum and maximum operating frequency
- the hardware description, through the spi peripheral properties,
  advise what is the maximum acceptable frequency from a device/wiring
  point of view.
Transfers must be observed at a frequency which fits both (so in
practice, the lowest maximum).

Actually, this second point mixes two information and already takes the
lowest frequency among:
- what the spi device is capable of (what is written in the component
  datasheet)
- what the wiring allows (electromagnetic sensibility, crossovers,
  terminations, antenna effect, etc).

This logic works until spi devices are no longer capable of sustaining
their highest frequency regardless of the operation. Spi memories are
typically subject to such variation. Some devices are capable of
spitting their internally stored data (essentially in read mode) at a
very fast rate, typically up to 166MHz on Winbond SPI-NAND chips, using
"fast" commands. However, some of the low-end operations, such as
regular page read-from-cache commands, are more limited and can only be
executed at 54MHz at most. This is currently a problem in the SPI-NAND
subsystem. Another situation, even if not yet supported, will be with
DTR commands, when the data is latched on both edges of the clock. The
same chips as mentioned previously are in this case limited to
80MHz. Yet another example might be continuous reads, which, under
certain circumstances, can also run at most at 104 or 120MHz.

As a matter of fact, the "one frequency per chip" policy is outdated and
more fine grain configuration is needed: we need to allow per-operation
frequency limitations. So far, all datasheets I encountered advertise a
maximum default frequency, which need to be lowered for certain specific
operations. So based on the current infrastructure, we can still expect
firmware (device trees in general) to continued advertising the same
maximum speed which is a mix between the PCB limitations and the chip
maximum capability, and expect per-operation lower frequencies when this
is relevant.

Add a `struct spi_mem_op` member to carry this information. Not
providing this field explicitly from upper layers means that there is no
further constraint and the default spi device maximum speed will be
carried instead. The SPI_MEM_OP() macro is also expanded with an
optional frequency argument, because virtually all operations can be
subject to such a limitation, and this will allow for a smooth and
discrete transition.

For controller drivers which do not implement the spi-mem interface, the
per-transfer speed is also set acordingly to a lower (than the maximum
default) speed when relevant.

For each NAND_OP_WAITRDY_INSTR operation, the NANDFSR register is
polled only once every 100 us to check for the EMA_WAIT pin. This
isn't frequent enough and causes delays in NAND accesses.

Set the polling interval to 5 us. It increases the page read speed
reported by flash_speed by ~30% (~10% on page writes).

to use the ONFI mode 0, though it could use more optimal modes.

Implement the setup_interface() operation. It uses the
aemif_set_cs_timings() function from the AEMIF driver to update the
chip select timings. The calculation of the register's contents is
directly extracted from §20.3.2.3 of the DaVinci TRM [1]

MAX_TH_PS and MAX_TSU_PS are the worst case timings based on the
Keystone2 and DaVinci datasheets.

The Macronix mx25u25635f flash device supports SFDP initialization.
This commit removes the specific mx25u25635f entry (NOR ID 0xc22539),
along with its size and flags, from the NOR parts list. By removing
this entry, both mx25u25635f and mx25u25645g (which share the same
NOR ID) will utilize the generic flash driver configuration.

This change allows both devices (mx25u25635f and mx25u25645g) to
leverage SFDP-defined parameters, enabling dual and quad read
operations without the need for manual adjustment of no_sfdp_flags.

02ba194fea mtd: mchp48l640: add support for Fujitsu MB85RS128TY FRAM
The Fujitsu FRAM chips use the same command set as Microchip EERAM.
The only differences are that the Fujitsu FRAM chips don't really have a
page size limit, nor do they automatically reset the WEL bit.

5dbc889d41 mtd: mchp48l640: make WEL behaviour configurable
The 48L640 resets the WEL bit (the Write Enable Latch bit in the status
register) to zero on the completion of write operations. In preparation
to support chips behaving differently, introduce .auto_disable_wel
capability, and, if it's missing, explicitly reset the WEL bit after
writes.

1a50e3612d mtd: spinand: Add support for SkyHigh S35ML-3 family
SkyHigh S35ML01G300, S35ML01G301, S35ML02G300, and S35ML04G300 are 1Gb,
2Gb, and 4Gb SLC SPI NAND flash family. This family of devices has
on-die ECC which parity bits are stored to hidden area. In this family
the on-die ECC cannot be disabled so raw access needs to be prevented.

6d9d6ab3a8 mtd: spinand: Introduce a way to avoid raw access
SkyHigh spinand device has ECC enable bit in configuration register but
it must be always enabled. If ECC is disabled, read and write ops
results in undetermined state. For such devices, a way to avoid raw
access is needed.

Introduce SPINAND_NO_RAW_ACCESS flag to advertise the device does not
support raw access. In such devices, the on-die ECC engine ops returns
error to I/O request in raw mode.

Checking and marking BBM need to be cared as special case, by adding
fallback mechanism that tries read/write OOB with ECC enabled.

b086a46dae mtd: rawnand: arasan: Fix double assertion of chip-select
When two chip-selects are configured in the device tree, and the second is
a non-native GPIO, both the GPIO-based chip-select and the first native
chip-select may be asserted simultaneously. This double assertion causes
incorrect read and write operations.

The issue occurs because when nfc->ncs <= 2, nfc->spare_cs is always
initialized to 0 due to static initialization. Consequently, when the
second chip-select (GPIO-based) is selected in anfc_assert_cs(), it is
detected by anfc_is_gpio_cs(), and nfc->native_cs is assigned the value 0.
This results in both the GPIO-based chip-select being asserted and the
NAND controller register receiving 0, erroneously selecting the native
chip-select.

This patch resolves the issue, as confirmed by oscilloscope testing with
configurations involving two or more chip-selects in the device tree.

70a71f8151 mtd: onenand: Fix uninitialized retlen in do_otp_read()
The function do_otp_read() does not set the output parameter *retlen,
which is expected to contain the number of bytes actually read.
As a result, in onenand_otp_walk(), the tmp_retlen variable remains
uninitialized after calling do_otp_walk() and used to change
the values of the buf, len and retlen variables.

Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

it: macronix. SPI NOR flashes may swap the bytes on a 16-bit boundary
 when configured in Octal DTR mode. For such cases the byte order is
 propagated through SPI MEM to the SPI controllers so that the controllers
 swap the bytes back at runtime. This avoids breaking the boot sequence
 because of the endianness problems that appear when the bootloaders use
 1-1-1 and the kernel uses 8D-8D-8D with byte swap support. Along with the

67efb77cb0 mtd: ubi: remove redundant check on bytes_left at end of function
In function ubi_nvmem_reg_read the while-loop can only be exiting
of bytes_left is zero or an error has occurred. There is an exit
return path if an error occurs, so the bytes_left can only be
zero after that point. Hence the check for a non-zero bytes_left
at the end of the function is redundant and can be removed. Remove
the check and just return 0.

d610020f03 ubi: wl: Put source PEB into correct list if trying locking LEB failed
During wear-leveing work, the source PEB will be moved into scrub list
when source LEB cannot be locked in ubi_eba_copy_leb(), which is wrong
for non-scrub type source PEB. The problem could bring extra and
ineffective wear-leveing jobs, which makes more or less negative effects
for the life time of flash. Specifically, the process is divided 2 steps:
1. wear_leveling_worker // generate false scrub type PEB
     ubi_eba_copy_leb // MOVE_RETRY is returned
       leb_write_trylock // trylock failed
     scrubbing = 1;
     e1 is put into ubi->scrub
2. wear_leveling_worker // schedule false scrub type PEB for wl
     scrubbing = 1
     e1 = rb_entry(rb_first(&ubi->scrub))

The problem can be reproduced easily by running fsstress on a small
UBIFS partition(<64M, simulated by nandsim) for 5~10mins
(CONFIG_MTD_UBI_FASTMAP=y,CONFIG_MTD_UBI_WL_THRESHOLD=50). Following
message is shown:
 ubi0: scrubbed PEB 66 (LEB 0:10), data moved to PEB 165

Since scrub type source PEB has set variable scrubbing as '1', and
variable scrubbing is checked before variable keep, so the problem can
be fixed by setting keep variable as 1 directly if the source LEB cannot
be locked.

mtd: spi-nor: core: replace dummy buswidth from addr to data
The default dummy cycle for Macronix SPI NOR flash in Octal Output
Read Mode(1-1-8) is 20.

Currently, the dummy buswidth is set according to the address bus width.
In the 1-1-8 mode, this means the dummy buswidth is 1. When converting
dummy cycles to bytes, this results in 20 x 1 / 8 = 2 bytes, causing the
host to read data 4 cycles too early.

Since the protocol data buswidth is always greater than or equal to the
address buswidth. Setting the dummy buswidth to match the data buswidth
increases the likelihood that the dummy cycle-to-byte conversion will be
divisible, preventing the host from reading data prematurely.

Commit d35df77707 ("mtd: spi-nor: winbond: fix w25q128 regression")
upstream fixed a regression for flavors of 0xef4018 flash that don't
define SFDP tables. Add a comment on the flash definition highlighting
that there are flavors of flashes with and without SFDP support.
It spares developers searching the entire git log for when we'll better
handle these cases.

f8470006c4 mtd: Switch back to struct platform_driver::remove()
After commit 0edb555a65 ("platform: Make platform_driver::remove()
return void") .remove() is (again) the right callback to implement for
platform drivers.

Convert all platform drivers below drivers/mtd to use .remove(), with
the eventual goal to drop struct platform_driver::remove_new(). As
.remove() and .remove_new() have the same prototypes, conversion is done
by just changing the structure member name in the driver initializer.

af264e5989 mtd: spinand: Constify struct nand_ecc_engine_ops
'struct nand_ecc_engine_ops' are not modified in these drivers.

Constifying this structure moves some data to a read-only section, so
increases overall security, especially when the structure holds some
function pointers.

Update the prototype of mxic_ecc_get_pipelined_ops() accordingly.

ff97ceb6c4 mtd: spinand: winbond: Ignore the last ID characters
The last 4 characters in Winbond's branding indicate:
- the package type (ZE/SF/TB),
- the temperature grade (I/J),
- special options, typically the continuous read vs. page read feature
  support and its default (G/T/F/R),

None of these information impact us, at the software level (well, the
continuous read mode by default is impacting, but is already handled
gracefully by disabling it in the initialization phase), so let's get
rid of it.

fee9b24091 mtd: spinand: winbond: Fix 512GW, 01GW, 01JW and 02JW ECC information
These four chips:
* W25N512GW
* W25N01GW
* W25N01JW
* W25N02JW
all require a single bit of ECC strength and thus feature an on-die
Hamming-like ECC engine. There is no point in filling a ->get_status()
callback for them because the main ECC status bytes are located in
standard places, and retrieving the number of bitflips in case of
corrected chunk is both useless and unsupported (if there are bitflips,
then there is 1 at most, so no need to query the chip for that).

Without this change, a kernel warning triggers every time a bit flips.

6d734f1bfc mtd: rawnand: atmel: Fix possible memory leak
The pmecc "user" structure is allocated in atmel_pmecc_create_user() and
was supposed to be freed with atmel_pmecc_destroy_user(), but this other
helper is never called. One solution would be to find the proper
location to call the destructor, but the trend today is to switch to
device managed allocations, which in this case fits pretty well.

Replace kzalloc() by devm_kzalloc() and drop the destructor entirely.

mtd: spi-nor: add support for Macronix Octal flash
Add manufacturer ID 0xc2 at the end of ID table to allow manufacturer
fixups to be applied for any Macronix flash. This spares us of adding
new flash entries for flashes that can be initialized solely based on
the SFDP data, but still need the manufacturer hooks to set parameters
that can't be discovered at SFDP parsing time.

The ID is added in order to set the octal DTR methods. SFDP defines a
"Command Sequences to Change to Octal DDR (8D-8D-8D) Mode" which can
enable the octal DTR mode. Until that is parsed and used, use the
local defined method.

mtd: spi-nor: sfdp: Get the 8D-8D-8D byte order from BFPT
Parse BFPT in order to retrieve the byte order in 8D-8D-8D mode.

This info flag will be used as a basis to determine whether
there is byte swapping of data for SPI NOR flash in octal
DTR mode.

The controller driver will check whether byte swapping is supported
to determine whether the corresponding operation are supported,
thus avoiding the generation of unexpected data order.

Merge Tudor's patch and add modifications for suiting newer version
of Linux kernel.

mtd: spi-nor: core: Allow specifying the byte order in Octal DTR mode
Macronix swaps bytes on a 16-bit boundary when configured in Octal DTR.
The byte order of 16-bit words is swapped when read or written in 8D-8D-8D
mode compared to STR modes. Allow operations to specify the byte order in
DTR mode, so that controllers can swap the bytes back at run-time to
address the flash's endianness requirements, if they are capable. If the
controller is not capable of swapping the bytes, the protocol is downgrade
via spi_nor_spimem_adjust_hwcaps(). When available, the swapping of the
bytes is always done regardless if it's a data or register access, so that
it comply with the JESD216 requirements: "Byte order of 16-bit words is
swapped when read in 8D-8D-8D mode compared to 1-1-1".

Merge Tudor's patch and add modifications for suiting newer version
of Linux kernel.

mtd: spi-nor: add Octal DTR support for Macronix flash
Create Macronix specify method for enable Octal DTR mode and
set 20 dummy cycles to allow running at the maximum supported
frequency for Macronix Octal flash.

Use number of dummy cycles which is parse by SFDP then convert
it to bit pattern and set in CR2 register.
Set CR2 register for enable octal DTR mode.

Use Read ID to confirm that enabling/disabling octal DTR mode
was successful.

Macronix ID format is A-A-B-B-C-C in octal DTR mode.
To ensure the successful enablement of octal DTR mode, confirm
that the 6-byte data is entirely correct.

ac5bfa968b mtd: spi-nor: fix flash probing
Fix flash probing by name. Flash entries without a name are allowed
since commit 15eb8303bb ("mtd: spi-nor: mark the flash name as
obsolete"). But it was just until recently that a flash entry without a
name was actually introduced. This triggers a bug in the legacy probe by
name path. Skip entries without a name to fix it.

took the one from Winbond and messed up the size parameters in SFDP.

18bcb4aa54 mtd: spi-nor: sst: Factor out common write operation to sst_nor_write_data()
Writing to the Flash in `sst_nor_write()` is a 3-step process:
first an optional one-byte write to get 2-byte-aligned, then the
bulk of the data is written out in vendor-specific 2-byte writes.
Finally, if there's a byte left over, another one-byte write.
This was implemented 3 times in the body of `sst_nor_write()`.
To reduce code duplication, factor out these sub-steps to their
own function.

2073ae37d5 mtd: rawnand: mtk: Fix init error path
Reviewing a series converting the for_each_chil_of_node() loops into
their _scoped variants made me realize there was no cleanup of the
already registered NAND devices upon error which may leak memory on
systems with more than a chip when this error occurs. We should call the
_nand_chips_cleanup() function when this happens.
