8c54e58f94 media: uvcvideo: Add quirk for Actions UVC05
Actions UVC05 is a HDMI to USB dongle that implements the UVC protocol.

When the device suspends, its firmware seems to enter a weird mode when it
does not produce more frames.

Add the device to the quirk list to disable autosuspend.

1fde21ea0b media: uvcvideo: let v4l2_query_v4l2_ctrl() work with v4l2_query_ext_ctrl
v4l2_query_ext_ctrl contains information that is missing in

With this change we can handle all the element_size information inside

Now that we are at it, remove the memset of the reserved fields, the
v4l2 ioctl handler should do that for us.

8004d635f2 Revert "media: uvcvideo: Require entities to have a non-zero unique ID"
This reverts commit 3dd075fe8e.

Tomasz has reported that his device, Generalplus Technology Inc. 808 Camera,
with ID 1b3f:2002, stopped being detected:

$ ls -l /dev/video*
zsh: no matches found: /dev/video*
[ 7.230599] usb 3-2: Found multiple Units with ID 5

This particular device is non-compliant, having both the Output Terminal
and Processing Unit with ID 5. uvc_scan_fallback, though, is able to build
a chain. However, when media elements are added and uvc_mc_create_links
call uvc_entity_by_id, it will get the incorrect entity,
media_create_pad_link will WARN, and it will fail to register the entities.

In order to reinstate support for such devices in a timely fashion,
reverting the fix for these warnings is appropriate. A proper fix that
considers the existence of such non-compliant devices will be submitted in
a later development cycle.

52fbe173ba media: uvcvideo: Invert default value for nodrop module param
The module param `nodrop` defines what to do with frames that contain an
error: drop them or sending them to userspace.

The default in the rest of the media subsystem is to return buffers with
an error to userspace with V4L2_BUF_FLAG_ERROR set in v4l2_buffer.flags.
In UVC we drop buffers with errors by default.

Change the default behaviour of uvcvideo to match the rest of the
drivers and maybe get rid of the module parameter in the future.

221cd51efe media: uvcvideo: Remove dangling pointers
When an async control is written, we copy a pointer to the file handle
that started the operation. That pointer will be used when the device is
done. Which could be anytime in the future.

If the user closes that file descriptor, its structure will be freed,
and there will be one dangling pointer per pending async control, that
the driver will try to use.

Clean all the dangling pointers during release().

To avoid adding a performance penalty in the most common case (no async
operation), a counter has been introduced with some logic to make sure
that it is properly handled.

We used the wrong device for the device managed functions. We used the

If an IRQ is triggered, it will try to access memory sections that are

We cannot use the function devm_request_threaded_irq here. The devm_*
clean functions may be called after the main structure is released by
uvc_delete.

Luckily this bug has small impact, as it is only affected by devices
with gpio units and the user has to unbind the device, a disconnect will

f2ef39727a spi: Updates for v6.13
The only real core work we've got this time around is the completion of
the transition to the new host/target naming for the core APIs, Kconfig
still needs doing but that's a lot less invasive. Otherwise the big
changes are the new drivers that have been added:

  - Completion of the conversion to spi_alloc_host()/_target() and
    removal of the old naming.
  - Cleanups for Rockchip drivers, these brought in a new logging helper
in the driver core for warnings during probe.
  - Support for configuration of the word delay via spidev_test.
  - Support for AMD HID2 controllers, Apple SPI controller and Realtek
    SPI-NAND controllers.

bf9aa14fc5 A rather large update for timekeeping and timers:
- The final step to get rid of auto-rearming posix-timers

posix-timers are currently auto-rearmed by the kernel when the signal
of the timer is ignored so that the timer signal can be delivered once
     the corresponding signal is unignored.

This requires to throttle the timer to prevent a DoS by small intervals
and keeps the system pointlessly out of low power states for no value.
This is a long standing non-trivial problem due to the lock order of
posix-timer lock and the sighand lock along with life time issues as
the timer and the sigqueue have different life time rules.

     Cure this by:

      * Embedding the sigqueue into the timer struct to have the same life
time rules. Aside of that this also avoids the lookup of the timer
in the signal delivery and rearm path as it's just a always valid
        container_of() now.

      * Queuing ignored timer signals onto a seperate ignored list.

      * Moving queued timer signals onto the ignored list when the signal is
switched to SIG_IGN before it could be delivered.

      * Walking the ignored list when SIG_IGN is lifted and requeue the
signals to the actual signal lists. This allows the signal delivery
        code to rearm the timer.

This also required to consolidate the signal delivery rules so they are
consistent across all situations. With that all self test scenarios
     finally succeed.

   - Core infrastructure for VFS multigrain timestamping

This is required to allow the kernel to use coarse grained time stamps
by default and switch to fine grained time stamps when inode attributes
     are actively observed via getattr().

These changes have been provided to the VFS tree as well, so that the
VFS specific infrastructure could be built on top.

   - Cleanup and consolidation of the sleep() infrastructure

     * Move all sleep and timeout functions into one file

     * Rework udelay() and ndelay() into proper documented inline functions
and replace the hardcoded magic numbers by proper defines.

     * Rework the fsleep() implementation to take the reality of the timer
wheel granularity on different HZ values into account. Right now the
boundaries are hard coded time ranges which fail to provide the
requested accuracy on different HZ settings.

     * Update documentation for all sleep/timeout related functions and fix
up stale documentation links all over the place

     * Fixup a few usage sites

   - Rework of timekeeping and adjtimex(2) to prepare for multiple PTP clocks

A system can have multiple PTP clocks which are participating in
seperate and independent PTP clock domains. So far the kernel only
considers the PTP clock which is based on CLOCK TAI relevant as that's
the clock which drives the timekeeping adjustments via the various user
     space daemons through adjtimex(2).

The non TAI based clock domains are accessible via the file descriptor
based posix clocks, but their usability is very limited. They can't be
accessed fast as they always go all the way out to the hardware and
they cannot be utilized in the kernel itself.

As Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) gains traction it is required to
provide fast user and kernel space access to these clocks.

The approach taken is to utilize the timekeeping and adjtimex(2)
infrastructure to provide this access in a similar way how the kernel
provides access to clock MONOTONIC, REALTIME etc.

Instead of creating a duplicated infrastructure this rework converts
timekeeping and adjtimex(2) into generic functionality which operates
on pointers to data structures instead of using static variables.

This allows to provide time accessors and adjtimex(2) functionality for
the independent PTP clocks in a subsequent step.

   - Consolidate hrtimer initialization

hrtimers are set up by initializing the data structure and then
seperately setting the callback function for historical reasons.

That's an extra unnecessary step and makes Rust support less straight
     forward than it should be.

Provide a new set of hrtimer_setup*() functions and convert the core
code and a few usage sites of the less frequently used interfaces over.

The bulk of the htimer_init() to hrtimer_setup() conversion is already
prepared and scheduled for the next merge window.

   - Drivers:

     * Ensure that the global timekeeping clocksource is utilizing the
cluster 0 timer on MIPS multi-cluster systems.

Otherwise CPUs on different clusters use their cluster specific
clocksource which is not guaranteed to be synchronized with other
       clusters.

     * Mostly boring cleanups, fixes, improvements and code movement

Since commit 88785982a1 ("media: vb2: use lock if wait_prepare/finish

vb2_ops callbacks as long as the lock field in vb2_queue is set.

Since the vb2_ops_wait_prepare/finish callbacks already rely on that field,
we can safely drop these callbacks.

This simplifies the code and this is a step towards the goal of deleting
these callbacks.

c9ec6f1736 media: uvcvideo: Stop stream during unregister
uvc_unregister_video() can be called asynchronously from
uvc_disconnect(). If the device is still streaming when that happens, a
plethora of race conditions can occur.

Make sure that the device has stopped streaming before exiting this
function.

If the user still holds handles to the driver's file descriptors, any
ioctl will return -ENODEV from the v4l2 core.

This change makes uvc more consistent with the rest of the v4l2 drivers
using the vb2_fop_* and vb2_ioctl_* helpers.

This driver (and many other usb drivers) always had this problem, but it
wasn't possible to easily fix this until the vb2_video_unregister_device()
helper was added. So the Fixes tag points to the creation of that helper.

d30bb4b43e media: cx231xx: Fix the S-Video capture on August VGB100
There are three separate issues preventing color capture with S-Video
on August VGB100 with the cx231xx driver (same vid/pid as OTG102):

1. `cx231xx_set_decoder_video_input` is called with a u32 passed
as its third argument, yet this functions expects a u8 instead.
Some information about the configuration of the video mux is lost
in the conversion, so that ch2 and ch3 do not get set by
   `cx231xx_afe_set_input_mux` (expecting a u32 but being passed a u8).

2. The input pin for the chroma signal is not correctly specified
in cx231xx-cards.c, which can be verified by looking at the inf file
coming with the VGB100 and OTG102' drivers for Windows.
The mistake in the cx231xx driver likely stems from a wrong comment
in the same file, suggesting VIN1_2 for chroma,
   while VIN3_2 is actually used.

3. Even after fixing the two issues above, the captured stream remains
essentially B&W (although acquiring some pale green shades, suggesting
we're moving in the right direction).
After tests with somewhat random changes, it was found that removing
`CX25840_SVIDEO_ON` from the vmux configuration in cx231xx-cards.c
results in a captured stream with the expected colors.

c5fe3ed618 media: uvcvideo: Avoid race condition during unregister
The control events are handled asynchronously by the driver. Once the
control event are handled, the urb is re-submitted.

If we simply kill the urb, there is a chance that a control event is
waiting to be processed, which will re-submit the urb after the device is
disconnected.

Fix this by calling uvc_status_suspend(), which flushes the async
controls and kills the URB in a race-free manner.

3dd075fe8e media: uvcvideo: Require entities to have a non-zero unique ID
Per UVC 1.1+ specification 3.7.2, units and terminals must have a non-zero
unique ID.

```
Each Unit and Terminal within the video function is assigned a unique
identification number, the Unit ID (UID) or Terminal ID (TID), contained in
the bUnitID or bTerminalID field of the descriptor. The value 0x00 is
reserved for undefined ID,
```

So, deny allocating an entity with ID 0 or an ID that belongs to a unit
that is already added to the list of entities.

This also prevents some syzkaller reproducers from triggering warnings due
to a chain of entities referring to themselves. In one particular case, an
Output Unit is connected to an Input Unit, both with the same ID of 1. But
when looking up for the source ID of the Output Unit, that same entity is
found instead of the input entity, which leads to such warnings.

In another case, a backward chain was considered finished as the source ID
was 0. Later on, that entity was found, but its pads were not valid.

Here is a sample stack trace for one of those cases.

cb787f4ac0 [tree-wide] finally take no_llseek out
no_llseek had been defined to NULL two years ago, in commit 868941b144
("fs: remove no_llseek")

To quote that commit,

  At -rc1 we'll need do a mechanical removal of no_llseek -

  git grep -l -w no_llseek | grep -v porting.rst | while read i; do
	sed -i '/\<no_llseek\>/d' $i
  done

  would do it.

Unfortunately, that hadn't been done. Linus, could you do that now, so
that we could finally put that thing to rest? All instances are of the
form
	.llseek = no_llseek,
so it's obviously safe.

cc4cbd4b4f media: Drop explicit initialization of struct i2c_device_id::driver_data to 0
These drivers don't use the driver_data member of struct i2c_device_id,
so don't explicitly initialize this member.

This prepares putting driver_data in an anonymous union which requires
either no initialization or named designators. But it's also a nice
cleanup on its own.

While add it, also remove commas after the sentinel entries.

Sean Young
0c84bde4f3 media: Revert "media: dvb-usb: Fix unexpected infinite loop in dvb_usb_read_remote_control()"
This reverts commit 2052138b7d.

This breaks the TeVii s480 dual DVB-S2 S660. The device has a bulk in
endpoint but no corresponding out endpoint, so the device does not pass
the "has both receive and send bulk endpoint" test.

Seemingly this device does not use dvb_usb_generic_rw() so I have tried
removing the generic_bulk_ctrl_endpoint entry, but this resulted in
different problems.

As we have no explanation yet, revert.

smatch generated this warning:

drivers/media/usb/b2c2/flexcop-usb.c:199 flexcop_usb_memory_req() warn: iterator 'i' not incremented

and indeed the function is not using i or updating buf.

The reason this always worked is that this function is called to write just
6 bytes (a MAC address) to the USB device, and so in practice there is only
a single chunk written. If we ever would need to write more than one chunk,
this function would fail since each chunk would read from or write to the
same buf address.

Rewrite the function to properly handle this.

1021dd010d media: Convert from tasklet to BH workqueue
The only generic interface to execute asynchronously in the BH context is
tasklet; however, it's marked deprecated and has some design flaws. To
replace tasklets, BH workqueue support was recently added. A BH workqueue
behaves similarly to regular workqueues except that the queued work items
are executed in the BH context.

This patch converts drivers/media/* from tasklet to BH workqueue.

When the UVC device has a control that is readonly it doesn't set the
SET_CUR flag. For example the privacy control has SET_CUR flag set in

Originally written with assignment in commit 859086ae36 ("media:

53d7995383 media: uvcvideo: Fix hw timestamp handling for slow FPS
In UVC 1.5 we get a single clock value per frame. With the current
buffer size of 32, FPS slowers than 32 might roll-over twice.

The current code cannot handle two roll-over and provide invalid
timestamps.

Revome all the samples from the circular buffer that are more than two
rollovers old, so the algorithm always provides good timestamps.

Note that we are removing values that are more than one second old,
which means that there is enough distance between the two points that
we use for the interpolation to provide good values.

141270bd95 media: uvcvideo: Refactor clock circular buffer
Isolate all the changes related to the clock circular buffer to its own
function, that way we can make changes easier to the buffer logic.

Also simplify the lock, by removing the circular buffer clock handling
from uvc_video_clock_decode().

And now that we are at it, unify the API of the clock functions.

6243c83be6 media: uvcvideo: Allow hw clock updates with buffers not full
With UVC 1.5 we get as little as one clock sample per frame. Which means
that it takes 32 frames to move from the software timestamp to the
hardware timestamp method.

This results in abrupt changes in the timestamping after 32 frames (~1
second), resulting in noticeable artifacts when used for encoding.

With this patch we modify the update algorithm to work with whatever
amount of values are available.
