Error return values are supposed to be negative in hdpvr_read. Most
error returns are currently handled via an unsigned integer "ret". When
setting a negative error value to "ret", the value actually becomes a
large positive value, because "ret" is unsigned. Later on, the "ret"
value is returned. But as ssize_t is a 64-bit signed number, the error
return value stays a large positive integer instead of a negative
integer. This can cause an error value to be interpreted as the read
size, which can cause a buffer overread for applications relying on the
returned size.

hdpvr_register_videodev is responsible to initialize a worker in
hdpvr_device. However, the worker is only initialized at
hdpvr_start_streaming other than hdpvr_register_videodev.
When hdpvr_probe does not initialize its worker, the hdpvr_disconnect

The V4L2 core sets the description for the driver in order to ensure
consistent naming.
So drop the strscpy of the description in drivers. Also remove any
description strings in driver-internal structures since those are
no longer needed.

This driver has three locking issues:
- The wait_event_interruptible() condition calls hdpvr_get_next_buffer(dev)
which uses a mutex, which is not allowed. Rewrite with list_empty_careful()
that doesn't need locking.
- In hdpvr_read() the call to hdpvr_stop_streaming() didn't lock io_mutex,
but it should have since stop_streaming expects that.
- In hdpvr_device_release() io_mutex was locked when calling flush_work(),
but there it shouldn't take that mutex since the work done by flush_work()
also wants to lock that mutex.
There are also two other changes (suggested by Keith):
- msecs_to_jiffies(4000); (a NOP) should have been msleep(4000).
- Change v4l2_dbg to v4l2_info to always log if streaming had to be restarted.

Instead of filling in the struct v4l2_capability device_caps
field, fill in the struct video_device device_caps field.
That way the V4L2 core knows what the capabilities of the
video device are.
But this only really works if all drivers use this, so convert
all usb drivers in this patch.

I have implemented the suggested changes and have been testing for the
last 2 months. I am no longer experiencing lockups while recording
(with blue light on, requiring power cycling) which had been a long
standing problem with the HD-PVR. I have not noticed any other problems

Due to the 80-cols restrictions, and latter due to checkpatch
warnings, several strings were broken into multiple lines. This
is not considered a good practice anymore, as it makes harder
to grep for strings at the source code.
As we're right now fixing other drivers due to KERN_CONT, we need
to be able to identify what printk strings don't end with a "\n".
It is a way easier to detect those if we don't break long lines.

The workqueue "workqueue" is involved in transmitting hdpvr buffers.
It has a single work item(&dev->worker) and hence doesn't require
ordering. Also, it is not being used on a memory reclaim path. Hence,
the singlethreaded workqueue has been replaced with the use of system_wq.
System workqueues have been able to handle high level of concurrency
for a long time now and hence it's not required to have a singlethreaded
workqueue just to gain concurrency. Unlike a dedicated per-cpu workqueue
created with create_singlethread_workqueue(), system_wq allows multiple
work items to overlap executions even on the same CPU; however, a
per-cpu workqueue doesn't have any CPU locality or global ordering
guarantee unless the target CPU is explicitly specified and thus the
increase of local concurrency shouldn't make any difference.
Work item has been flushed in hdpvr_device_release() to ensure
that there are no pending tasks while disconnecting the driver.

Add the new match_reduced_fps argument to v4l2_match_dv_timings().
Depending on the situation you may or may not desire to match the
reduced_fps flag. Typically only HDMI transmitters will need to
check for this flag.

The v4l2_pix_format structure has no reserved field. It is embedded in
the v4l2_framebuffer structure which has no reserved fields either, and
in the v4l2_format structure which has reserved fields that were not
previously required to be zeroed out by applications.
To allow extending v4l2_pix_format, inline it in the v4l2_framebuffer
structure, and use the priv field as a magic value to indicate that the
application has set all v4l2_pix_format extended fields and zeroed all
reserved fields following the v4l2_pix_format field in the v4l2_format
structure.
The availability of this API extension is reported to userspace through
the new V4L2_CAP_EXT_PIX_FORMAT capability flag. Just checking that the
priv field is still set to the magic value at [GS]_FMT return wouldn't
be enough, as older kernels don't zero the priv field on return.
To simplify the internal API towards drivers zero the extended fields
and set the priv field to the magic value for applications not aware of
the extensions.

When the audio encoding is changed the driver calls hdpvr_set_audio
with the current opt->audio_input value. However, that should have
been opt->audio_input + 1. So changing the audio encoding inadvertently
changes the input as well. This bug has always been there.
The second bug was introduced in kernel 3.10 and that broke the
default_audio_input module option handling: the audio encoding was
never switched to AC3 if default_audio_input was set to 2 (SPDIF input).
In addition, since starting with 3.10 the audio encoding is always set
at the start the first bug now always happens when the driver is loaded.
In the past this bug would only surface if the user would change the
audio encoding after the driver was loaded.
Also fixes a small trivial typo (bufffer -> buffer).

v4l2-common.c contained a bunch of dv-timings related functions.
Move that to the new v4l2-dv-timings.c which is a more appropriate
place for them.
There aren't many drivers that do HDTV, so it is a good idea to separate
common code related to that into a module of its own.

get_video_info() should never return EFAULT, instead it should return
the low-level usb_control_msg() error. Add a valid field to the hdpvr_video_info
struct so the driver can easily check if a valid format was detected.
Whenever get_video_info is called and it returns an error (e.g. usb_control_msg

Both MythTV and gstreamer expect that they can set/get/query/enumerate the
standards, even if the input is the component input for which standards
really do not apply.

This prepares the driver for priority and control event handling.
This patch also checks for correct streaming ownership and it makes a
small improvement to the encoder_cmd ioctls: always zero 'flags' and
drop the memset of 'raw' as that is already done by the v4l2 core.

This ioctl is defined as IOW, so pass the argument by value instead of by
reference. I could have chosen to add const instead, but this is 1) easier
to handle in drivers and 2) consistent with the s_std subdev operation.

Write-only ioctls should have a const argument in the ioctl op.
Do this conversion for vidioc_s_audio.
Adding const for write-only ioctls was decided during the 2012 Media Workshop.
