The first element of the key array is not used. Remove it, and
along with it a uninitialized memory read.
This should fix the rc debug message.

Those documents don't really describe the driver API.
Instead, they contain development-specific information.
Yet, as the main index file describes the content of it as:
"how specific kernel subsystems work
from the point of view of a kernel developer"
It seems to be the better fit.

At least some of the supported boards by dvb-usb
driver need to load the cypress firmware, so select
it, as otherwise missing dependencies may popup.
Also, as the cypress firmware load routines are needed
only by the dvb-usb, dvb-usb-v2 and go7007 drivers, and
those all (now) select it, there's no need to ask the
user for manually select it.

Make sure to use the current alternate setting when verifying the
interface descriptors to avoid submitting an URB to an invalid endpoint.
Failing to do so could cause the driver to misbehave or trigger a WARN()
in usb_submit_urb() that kernels with panic_on_warn set would choke on.

A bugfix introduce a link failure in configurations without CONFIG_MODULES:
In file included from drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/pctv452e.c:20:0:
drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/pctv452e.c: In function 'pctv452e_frontend_attach':
drivers/media/dvb-frontends/stb0899_drv.h:151:36: error: weak declaration of 'stb0899_attach' being applied to a already existing, static definition
The problem is that the !IS_REACHABLE() declaration of stb0899_attach()
is a 'static inline' definition that clashes with the weak definition.
I further observed that the bugfix was only done for one of the five users
of stb0899_attach(), the other four still have the problem. This reverts
the bugfix and instead addresses the problem by not dropping the reference
count when calling '->detach()', instead we call this function directly
in dvb_frontend_put() before dropping the kref on the front-end.
I first submitted this in early 2018, and after some discussion it
was apparently discarded. While there is a long-term plan in place,
that plan is obviously not nearing completion yet, and the current
kernel is still broken unless this patch is applied.

When CONFIG_DVB_DIB9000 is disabled, we can still compile code that
now fails to link against dibx000_i2c_set_speed:
drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/dib0700_devices.o: In function `dib01x0_pmu_update.constprop.7':
dib0700_devices.c:(.text.unlikely+0x1c9c): undefined reference to `dibx000_i2c_set_speed'
The call sites are both through dib01x0_pmu_update(), which gets passed
an 'i2c' pointer from dib9000_get_i2c_master(), which has returned
NULL. Checking this pointer seems to be a good idea anyway, and it avoids
the link failure in most cases.
Sean Young found another case that is not fixed by that, where certain
gcc versions leave an unused function in place that causes the link error,
but adding an explict IS_ENABLED() check also solves this.

As this driver had a major change, let's take the opportunity
and do some coding style cleanup, in order to make it compliant
with Kernel's style.
This patch was partially done with the help of two tools:
./scripts/checkpatch.pl --fix-inplace --strict
astyle --indent=tab=8 --style=linux
But manually adjusted in order to fit our style.

Each call to dw2102_probe() allocates memory by kmemdup for structures
p1100, s660, p7500 and s421, but there is no their deallocation.
dvb_usb_device_init() copies the corresponding structure into
dvb_usb_device->props, so there is no use of original structure after
dvb_usb_device_init().
The patch moves structures from global scope to local and adds their
deallocation.

Right now, satellite frontend drivers specify frequencies in kHz,
while terrestrial/cable ones specify in Hz. That's confusing
for developers.
However, the main problem is that universal frontends capable
of handling both satellite and non-satelite delivery systems
are appearing. We end by needing to hack the drivers in
order to support such hybrid frontends.
So, convert everything to specify frontend frequencies in Hz.

Friio device contains "gl861" bridge and "tc90522" demod,
for which the separate drivers are already in the kernel.
But friio driver was monolithic and did not use them,
practically copying those features.
This patch decomposes friio driver into sub drivers and
re-uses existing ones, thus reduces some code.
It adds some features to gl861,
to support the friio-specific init/config of the devices
and implement i2c communications to the tuner via demod
with USB vendor requests.

Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.
By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.
Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.
This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.
How this work was done:
Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
- file had no licensing information it it.
- file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
- file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,
Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.
The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.
The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
- Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
- Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
lines of source
- File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
lines).
All documentation files were explicitly excluded.
The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.
- when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
COPYING file license applied.
For non */uapi/* files that summary was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 11139
and resulted in the first patch in this series.
If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|-------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930
and resulted in the second patch in this series.
- if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:
SPDX license identifier # files
---------------------------------------------------|------
GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1
and that resulted in the third patch in this series.
- when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
the concluded license(s).
- when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.
- In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).
- When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
- If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
in time.
In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.
Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.
Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.
In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.
Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
- a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
license ids and scores
- reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
- reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
SPDX license was correct
This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.
These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

When an ir-spi is registered, you get this message.
rc rc0: Unspecified device as /devices/platform/soc/3f215080.spi/spi_master/spi32766/spi32766.128/rc/rc0
"Unspecified device" refers to input_name, which makes no sense for IR
TX only devices. So, rename to device_name.
Also make driver_name const char* so that no casts are needed anywhere.
Now ir-spi reports:
rc rc0: IR SPI as /devices/platform/soc/3f215080.spi/spi_master/spi32766/spi32766.128/rc/rc0

On Kernel 4.9, WARNINGs about doing DMA on stack are hit at
the dw2102 driver: one in su3000_power_ctrl() and the other in tt_s2_4600_frontend_attach().
Both were due to the use of buffers on the stack as parameters to
dvb_usb_generic_rw() and the resulting attempt to do DMA with them.
The device was non-functional as a result.
So, switch this driver over to use a buffer within the device state
structure, as has been done with other DVB-USB drivers.
Tested with TechnoTrend TT-connect S2-4600.

added a kmalloc'ed bounce buffer for writes, but missed to do the same

As dvb_usb_generic_rw handles a read length of 0 by itself, avoid calling
it using the dvb_usb_generic_read wrapper function.

The driver type can be assigned immediately when an RC device
requests to the framework to allocate the device.
This is an 'enum rc_driver_type' data type and specifies whether
the device is a raw receiver or scancode receiver. The type will
be given as parameter to the rc_allocate_device device.
Change accordingly all the drivers calling rc_allocate_device()
so that the device type is specified during the rc device
allocation. Whenever the device type is not specified, it will be
set as RC_DRIVER_SCANCODE which was the default '0' value.

commit 73d5c5c864 ("[media] pctv452e: don't do DMA on stack") caused
a NULL pointer dereference which occurs when dvb_usb_init()
calls dvb_usb_device_power_ctrl() for the first time, before the
frontend has been attached. It also caused a recursive deadlock because
tt3650_ci_msg_locked() has already locked the mutex.
So, partially revert it, but move the buffer to the heap
(DMA capable), not to the stack (may not be DMA capable).
Instead of sharing one buffer which needs mutex protection,
do a new heap allocation for each call.

This patch derives from previous one(s) by CrazyCat. I used the commit adding rev.3 to mainline Linux kernel as an example, so credits go to its author(s).
The hardware seems to scan and tune OK.

Due to the 80-cols restrictions, and latter due to checkpatch
warnings, several strings were broken into multiple lines. This
is not considered a good practice anymore, as it makes harder
to grep for strings at the source code.
As we're right now fixing other drivers due to KERN_CONT, we need
to be able to identify what printk strings don't end with a "\n".
It is a way easier to detect those if we don't break long lines.
So, join those continuation lines.
The patch was generated via the script below, and manually
adjusted if needed.

the return values for dvb_usb_generic_rw() and dvb_usb_generic_write()

The USB control messages require DMA to work. We cannot pass
a stack-allocated buffer, as it is not warranted that the
stack would be into a DMA enabled area.
On this driver, most of the transfers are OK, but the I2C
one was using stack.

Instead of sending USB commands for every stats call, collect
them once, when status is updated. As the frontend kthread
will call it on every few seconds, the stats will still be
collected.
Besides reducing the amount of USB/I2C transfers, this also
warrants that all stats will be collected at the same time,
and makes easier to convert it to DVBv5 stats in the future.

Kernel source files need not include <linux/kconfig.h> explicitly
because the top Makefile forces to include it with:
-include $(srctree)/include/linux/kconfig.h
This commit removes explicit includes except the following:
* arch/s390/include/asm/facilities_src.h
* tools/testing/radix-tree/linux/kernel.h
These two are used for host programs.

Tha ARM randconfig builds came up with another rare build failure
for the dib3000mc driver, when dvb-usb-dibusb-mb is built-in and
dib3000mc is a loadable module:
ERROR: "dibusb_dib3000mc_frontend_attach" [drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/dvb-usb-nova-t-usb2.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "dibusb_dib3000mc_tuner_attach" [drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/dvb-usb-nova-t-usb2.ko] undefined!
Apparently this used to be a valid configuration (build-time, not
run-time), but broke as part of a cleanup.
I tried reverting the cleanup, but saw that the code was still wrong
then. This version adds a dependency for dib3000mb, to ensure that
dib3000mb does not force the dibusb_dib3000mc_frontend_attach function
to be built-in when dib3000mc is a loadable module.
I have also checked the two other files that were changed in the original
cleanup, and found them to be correct in either version, so I do not
touch that part.
As this is a rather obscure bug, there is no need for backports.

functions into a new file that now is built as a loadable module or
built-in, whichever is correct for a particular configuration. It fixes
the regression as well as the runtime problem that already existed.
The new module dependency chain is now:
