SET_RUNTIME_DEV_PM_OPS() is deprecated as it requires explicit protection
against unused function warnings. The new combination of pm_ptr()
and RUNTIME_DEV_PM_OPS() allows the compiler to see the functions,
thus suppressing the warning, but still allowing the unused code to be
removed. Thus also drop the __maybe_unused markings.
Note that DEFINE_RUNTIME_DEV_PM_OPS() is not used because that adds
additional callbacks for suspend and resume and would need
testing.

Due to several bugs caused by timers being re-armed after they are
shutdown and just before they are freed, a new state of timers was added
called "shutdown". After a timer is set to this state, then it can no
longer be re-armed.
The following script was run to find all the trivial locations where
del_timer() or del_timer_sync() is called in the same function that the
object holding the timer is freed. It also ignores any locations where
the timer->function is modified between the del_timer*() and the free(),
as that is not considered a "trivial" case.
This was created by using a coccinelle script and the following
commands:
$ cat timer.cocci

expression ptr, slab;
identifier timer, rfield;

Some Pin/GPIO controllers can't get current GPIO status when interrupt
mode is set. Specifically Ingenic's JZ4755 always returns status at the
moment of interrupt.
The patch tries to fix that by forcibly setting pin mode to GPIO input
prior to reading actual row status. enable_row_irqs seems to set
interrupt mode back as it should be.

Both i.MX6 and i.MX8 reference manuals list 0xBF8 as SNVS_HPVIDR1
(chapters 57.9 and 6.4.5 respectively).
Without this, trying to read the revision number results in 0 on
all revisions, causing the i.MX6 quirk to apply on all platforms,
which in turn causes the driver to synthesise power button release
events instead of passing the real one as they happen even on
platforms like i.MX8 where that's not wanted.

This change replaces the support for GPIs as key event generators.
Instead of reporting the events directly, we add a gpio based irqchip
so that these events can be consumed by keys defined in the gpio-keys
driver (as it's goal is indeed for keys on GPIOs capable of generating
interrupts). With this, the gpio-adp5588 driver can also be dropped.
The basic idea is that all the pins that are not being used as part of
the keymap matrix can be possibly requested as GPIOs by gpio-keys
(it's also fine to use these pins as plain interrupts though that's not
really the point).
Since the gpiochip now also has irqchip capabilities, we should only
remove it after we free the device interrupt (otherwise we could, in
theory, be handling GPIs interrupts while the gpiochip is concurrently
removed). Thus the call 'adp5588_gpio_add()' is moved and since the
setup phase also needs to come before making the gpios visible, we also
need to move 'adp5588_setup()'.
While at it, always select GPIOLIB so that we don't need to use #ifdef
guards.

The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored.
(Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the
error is ignored.)
So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This
way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to
the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly.
There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to
return 0 before.

The MediaTek keypad has a total of 6 input rows and 6 input columns.
By default, rows/columns 0-2 are enabled.
This is controlled by the KP_SEL register:
- bits[9:4] control row selection
- bits[15:10] control column selection
Each bit enables the corresponding row/column number (e.g KP_SEL[4]
enables ROW0)
Depending on how the keypad is wired, this may result in wrong readings
of the keypad state.
Program the KP_SEL register to limit the key detection to n_rows,

The MediaTek keypad has a set of bits representing keys,
from KEY0 to KEY77, arranged in 5 chunks of 15 bits split into 5 32-bit
registers.
In our implementation, we simply decided to use register number as row
and offset in the register as column when encoding our "matrix".
Because of this, we can have a 5x32 matrix which does not match the
hardware at all, which is confusing.

Merge with mainline to bring up the latest definition from MFD subsystem
needed for Mediatek keypad driver.
This driver abuses the efivar API, by using a few of its helpers on
entries that were not instantiated by the API itself. This is a problem
as future cleanup work on efivars is complicated by this.
So let's just switch to the get/set variable runtime wrappers directly.

As the second and last step of preparation to add support for more
PMICs in this driver, move the long press debounce mask to struct
mtk_pmic_regs and use that in mtk_pmic_keys_lp_reset_setup() instead
of directly using the definition.
While at it, remove the definition for MTK_PMIC_RST_DU_SHIFT as we
are able to calculate it dynamically and spares us some unnecessary
new definitions around for future per-PMIC variations of RST_DU_MASK.
Lastly, it was necessary to change the function signature of
mtk_pmic_keys_lp_reset_setup() to now pass a pointer to the main
mtk_pmic_regs structure, since that's where the reset debounce
mask now resides.

driver's flexibility, in preparation for adding support for more

While at it, remove the definition of MTK_PMIC_RST_KEY_MASK as
we are now dynamically setting the keymask relatively to the keys

Sync up with mainline to get updates to OMAP4 keypad driver and other
upstream goodies.
This series has been 12 years in the making, it mostly finishes the
work that was started with the founding of Linaro to clean up platform
support in the kernel.
The largest change here is a cleanup of the omap1 platform, which
is the final ARM machine type to get converted to the common-clk
subsystem. All the omap1 specific drivers are now made independent of the
mach/*.h headers to allow the platform to be part of a generic ARMv4/v5
multiplatform kernel. The last bit that enables this support is still
missing here while we wait for some last dependencies to make it into
the mainline kernel through other subsystems.
The s3c24xx, ixp4xx, iop32x, ep93xx and dove platforms were all almost
at the point of allowing multiplatform kernels, this work gets completed
here along with a few additional cleanup. At the same time, the s3c24xx
and s3c64xx are now deprecated and expected to get removed in the future.
The PXA and OMAP1 bits are in a separate branch because of dependencies.
Once both branches are merged, only the three Intel StrongARM platforms
(RiscPC, Footbridge/NetWinder and StrongARM1100) need separate kernels,
and there are no plans to include these.

If the device is a detachable (and therefore lacks full keyboard), we may
still want to load this driver because the device might have some other
buttons or switches (e.g. volume and power buttons or a tablet mode
switch). In such case we do not want to register the "main" keyboard device
to allow userspace detect when the detachable keyboard is disconnected and
adjust the system behavior for the tablet mode.
Originally it was suggested to simply skip keyboard registration if row and
columns properties didn't exist, but that approach did not convey the
intent strongly enough and also had a slight problem for migrating existing
DTBs without updating the kernel first, so it was decided to introduce new
google,cros-ec-keyb-switches to explicitly mark devices that only have
axillary buttons and switches.

Allow the driver to wake the system on key press if the "wakeup-source"

the change.
Otherwise it's been a relatively quiet release with some new device

conversion of the subsystem to use GPIO descriptors rather than numbers:

- Quite a few DT schema conversions.
- Support for multiple SPI devices on a bus in ACPI systems.
- Big overhaul of the PXA2xx SPI driver.

The value returned by an spi driver's remove function is mostly ignored.
(Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the
error is ignored.)
So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This
way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to
the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly.
There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to
return 0 before.

MT6358 pmic keys behave differently than mt6397 and mt6323: there are

Some pmics of the mt6397 family (such as MT6358), have two IRQs per
physical key: one for press event, another for release event.
The mtk-pmic-keys driver assumes that each key only has one
IRQ. The key index and the RES_IRQ resource index have a 1/1 mapping.
This won't work for MT6358, as we have multiple resources (2) for one key.
To prepare mtk-pmic-keys to support MT6358, retrieve IRQs by name
instead of by index.

Pull input fixes from Dmitry Torokhov:
- a new product ID for the xpad joystick driver
- fixes to resistive-adc-touch and snvs_pwrkey drivers
- a change to touchscreen helpers to make clang happier
* 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dtor/input:
Input: touchscreen - avoid bitwise vs logical OR warning
Input: xpad - add support for another USB ID of Nacon GC-100
Input: resistive-adc-touch - fix division by zero error on z1 == 0
Input: snvs_pwrkey - add clk handling
On i.MX7S and i.MX8M* (but not i.MX6*) the pwrkey device has an
associated clock. Accessing the registers requires that this clock is
enabled. Binding the driver on at least i.MX7S and i.MX8MP while not
having the clock enabled results in a complete hang of the machine.
(This usually only happens if snvs_pwrkey is built as a module and the
rtc-snvs driver isn't already bound because at bootup the required clk
is on and only gets disabled when the clk framework disables unused clks
late during boot.)
This completes the fix in commit 135be16d35 ("ARM: dts: imx7s: add
snvs clock to pwrkey").

At the moment the touch keys have key codes assigned from the device
tree. In some cases, users might want to change the key code from
userspace. There is existing functionality for this in the input core
using the EVIOCSKEYCODE ioctl, which is integrated for example into udev.
Make it possible to use this functionality for tm2-touchkey by simply
making the input core aware of the array that holds the keycodes.
Similar code also exists in mcs_touchkey and mpr121_touchkey.

As noted in the "Deprecated Interfaces, Language Features, Attributes,
and Conventions" documentation [1], size calculations (especially
multiplication) should not be performed in memory allocator (or similar)
function arguments due to the risk of them overflowing. This could lead
to values wrapping around and a smaller allocation being made than the
caller was expecting. Using those allocations could lead to linear
overflows of heap memory and other misbehaviors.
So, use the struct_size() helper to do the arithmetic instead of the
argument "size + count * size" in the kzalloc() function.

The caller of this function (parisc_driver_remove() in

ipmi_parisc_remove() which returns the return value of

disable_irq() after request_irq() still has a time gap in which
interrupts can come. request_irq() with IRQF_NO_AUTOEN flag will
disable IRQ auto-enable because of requesting.
On the other hand, request_irq() after setting IRQ_NOAUTOEN as
below
irq_set_status_flags(irq, IRQ_NOAUTOEN);
request_irq(dev, irq...);
can also be replaced by request_irq() with IRQF_NO_AUTOEN flag.

Sync up with the mainline to bring in newest APIs.
We want to be able to report the input event as soon as the debounce
delay elapsed. However, the current code does not really ensure that,
as it uses the jiffies-based schedule_delayed_work() API. With a small
enough HZ value (HZ <= 100), this results in some input events being
lost, when a key is quickly pressed then released (on a human's time
scale).
Switching to hrtimers fixes this issue, and will work even on extremely
low HZ values (tested at HZ=24). This is however only possible if
reading the GPIO is possible without sleeping. If this condition is not
met, the previous approach of using a jiffies-based timer is taken.

Dealing with input, timing is important; if the button should be
released in one millisecond, then it should be done in one millisecond
and not a hundred milliseconds.
Therefore, the standard timer API is not really suitable for this task.
Convert the gpio-keys driver to use a hrtimer instead of the standard
timer to address this issue.
Note that by using a hard IRQ for the hrtimer callback, we can get rid
of the spin_lock_irqsave() and spin_unlock_irqrestore().

The driver registers an interrupt handler in _probe, but didn't configure
them until later when the _open function is called. In between, the keypad
can fire an IRQ due to touchpad activity, which the handler ignores. This
causes the kernel to disable the interrupt, blocking the keypad from
working.
Fix this by disabling interrupts before registering the handler.
Additionally, disable them in _close, so that they're only enabled while
open.

The top-row keys in a keyboard usually have dual functionalities.
E.g. A function key "F1" is also an action key "Browser back".
Therefore, when an application receives an action key code from
a top-row key press, the application needs to know how to correlate
the action key code with the function key code and do the conversion
whenever necessary.
Since the userpace already knows the key scanlines (row/column)
associated with a received key code. Essentially, the userspace only
needs a mapping between the key row/column and the matching physical
location in the top row.
So, enhance the cros-ec-keyb driver to create such a mapping
and expose it to userspace in the form of a function_row_physmap
attribute. The attribute would be a space separated ordered list of
row/column codes for the keys in the function row, in a left-to-right
order.
The attribute will only be present when the device has a custom design
for the top-row keys.

The response to a command may never arrive or it may be corrupted (and
hence dropped) for some reason. While exceedingly rare, when it did
happen it blocked all further commands. One way to fix this was to
do a suspend/resume. However, recovering automatically seems like a
nicer option. Hence this puts a time limit (1 sec) on how long we're
willing to wait for a response, after which we assume it got lost.

We are still missing handling for errata i689 related issues for the
case where we never see a key up interrupt for the last pressed key.
To fix the issue, we must scan the key state again after the keyboard
controller has idled to check if a key up event was missed. This is
described in the omap4 silicon errata documentation for Errata ID i689
"1.32 Keyboard Key Up Event Can Be Missed":
"When a key is released for a time shorter than the debounce time,
in-between 2 key press (KP1 and KP2), the keyboard state machine will go
to idle mode and will never detect the key release (after KP1, and also
after KP2), and thus will never generate a new IRQ indicating the key
release."
We can use PM runtime autosuspend features to check the keyboard state
after it enters idle.

Because of errata i689 the keyboard can idle with state where no key
up interrupts are seen until after the next key press.
This means we need to first check for any lost key up events before
scanning for new down events.
For example, rapidly pressing shift-shift-j can sometimes produce a J
instead of j. Let's fix the issue by scanning the keyboard in two
phases. First we scan for any key up events that we may have missed,
and then we scan for key down events.

pm_runtime_enable will increase power disable depth. Thus a

The driver clears the general configuration register during the remove()
hook. This should also be done in case the driver exits on error.
This change move the clear of that register to the
devm_add_action_or_reset() hook.

This is currently just dead code. It's from around a time when
platform-data was used, and a board could hook it's own special callback
for setup/teardown, and a private object (via 'context').

This change makes use of the devm_input_allocate_device() function, which
gets rid of the input_free_device() and input_unregister_device() calls.
When a device is allocated via input_allocate_device(), the
input_register_device() call will also be device-managed, so there is no
longer need to manually call unregister.
Also, the irq is allocated with the devm_request_threaded_irq(), so with
these two changes, the adp5589_keypad_remove() function is no longer
needed.
This cleans up the error & exit paths.

Merge tag 'v5.6' into next
Sync up with mainline to get device tree and other changes.
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:
struct foo {
int stuff;
struct boo array[];
};
By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.
Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by
this change:
"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]
sizeof(flexible-array-member) triggers a warning because flexible array
members have incomplete type[1]. There are some instances of code in
which the sizeof operator is being incorrectly/erroneously applied to
zero-length arrays and the result is zero. Such instances may be hiding
some bugs. So, this work (flexible-array member conversions) will also
help to get completely rid of those sorts of issues.
This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

Allow the firmware to specify the mapping between the scan code and the
linux keycode. This takes the form of a "linux,keymap" property which is
an array of u32 values, each value specifying mapping for a key.

Certain keyboards have their top-row keys intended for actions such as
"Browser back", "Browser Refresh", "Fullscreen" etc as their primary mode,
thus they will send scan codes for those actions. Further, they don't
have a dedicated "Fn" key so don't have the capability to generate
function key codes (e.g. F1, F2 etc..). However in this case, if
userspace still wants to "synthesize" those function keys using the top
row action keys, it needs to know the physical position of the top row
keys. (Essentially a mapping between usage codes and a physical location
in the top row).
This patch enhances the atkbd driver to receive such a mapping from the
firmware / device tree, and expose it to userspace in the form of a
function-row-physmap attribute. The attribute would be a space separated
ordered list of physical codes, for the keys in the function row, in
left-to-right order.
The attribute will only be present if the kernel knows about such mapping,
otherwise the attribute shall not be visible.

This patch makes use of cros_ec_cmd_xfer_status() instead of
cros_ec_cmd_xfer(). In this case there is no advantage of doing this
apart from that we want to make cros_ec_cmd_xfer() a private function
for the EC protocol and let people only use the
cros_ec_cmd_xfer_status() to return Linux standard error codes.

The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:
struct foo {
int stuff;
struct boo array[];
};
