Fix the dp_panel_get_supported_bpp() API to return the minimum
supported bpp correctly for relevant cases and use this API
to correct the behavior of DP driver which hard-codes the max supported
bpp to 30.
This is incorrect because the number of lanes and max data rate
supported by the lanes need to be taken into account.
Replace the hardcoded limit with the appropriate math which accounts
for the accurate number of lanes and max data rate.
changes in v2:
- Fix the dp_panel_get_supported_bpp() and use it
- Drop the max_t usage as dp_panel_get_supported_bpp() already
returns the min_bpp correctly now
changes in v3:
- replace min_t with just min as all params are u32

Before the introduction of the wait_hpd_asserted() callback in
commit 841d742f09 ("drm/dp: Add wait_hpd_asserted() callback to struct
drm_dp_aux") the API between panel drivers and DP AUX bus drivers was
that it was up to the AUX bus driver to wait for HPD in the transfer()
function.
Now wait_hpd_asserted() has been added. The two panel drivers that are
DP AUX endpoints use it. See commit 2327b13d6c ("drm/panel-edp: Take
advantage of wait_hpd_asserted() in struct drm_dp_aux") and
commit 3b5765df37 ("drm/panel: atna33xc20: Take advantage of
wait_hpd_asserted() in struct drm_dp_aux"). We've implemented
wait_hpd_asserted() in the MSM DP driver as of commit e2969ee302
("drm/msm/dp: move of_dp_aux_populate_bus() to eDP probe()"). There is
no longer any reason for long wait in the AUX transfer() function.
Remove it.
NOTE: the wait_hpd_asserted() is listed as "optional". That means it's
optional for the DP AUX bus to implement. In the case of the MSM DP
driver we implement it so we can assume it will be called.
ALSO NOTE: the wait wasn't actually _hurting_ anything and wasn't even
causing long timeouts, but it's still nice to get rid of unneeded
code. Specificaly it's not truly needed because to handle other DP
drivers that can't power on as quickly (specifically parade-ps8640) we
already avoid DP AUX transfers for eDP panels that aren't powered
on. See commit 8df1ddb5bf ("drm/dp: Don't attempt AUX transfers when
eDP panels are not powered").

The DP wait_hpd_asserted() callback is passed a timeout which
indicates how long we should wait for HPD. This timeout was being
ignored in the MSM DP implementation and instead a hardcoded 500 ms
timeout was used. Fix it to use the proper timeout.
As part of this we move the hardcoded 500 ms number into the AUX
transfer function, which isn't given a timeout. The wait in the AUX
transfer function will be removed in a future commit.

As documented in the description of the transfer() function of
"struct drm_dp_aux", the transfer() function can be called at any time
regardless of the state of the DP port. Specifically if the kernel has
the DP AUX character device enabled and userspace accesses
"/dev/drm_dp_auxN" directly then the AUX transfer function will be
called regardless of whether a DP device is connected.
For eDP panels we have a special rule where we wait (with a 5 second
timeout) for HPD to go high. This rule was important before all panels
drivers were converted to call wait_hpd_asserted() and actually can be
removed in a future commit.
For external DP devices we never checked for HPD. That means that
trying to access the DP AUX character device (AKA `hexdump -C
/dev/drm_dp_auxN`) would very, very slowly timeout. Specifically on my
system:
$ time hexdump -C /dev/drm_dp_aux0
hexdump: /dev/drm_dp_aux0: Connection timed out
real 0m8.200s
We want access to the drm_dp_auxN character device to fail faster than
8 seconds when no DP cable is plugged in.
Let's add a test to make transfers fail right away if a device isn't
plugged in. Rather than testing the HPD line directly, we have the
dp_display module tell us when AUX transfers should be enabled so we
can handle cases where HPD is signaled out of band like with Type C.

All the components of YUV420 over DP are added. Therefore, let's mark the
connector property as true for DP connector when the DP type is not eDP
and when there is a CDM block available.
Changes in v3:
- Move setting the connector's ycbcr_420_allowed parameter so
that it is not dependent on if the dp_display is not eDP
Changes in v2:
- Check for if dp_catalog has a CDM block available instead of
checking if VSC SDP is allowed when setting the dp connector's
ycbcr_420_allowed parameter

Adjust the encoder format programming in the case of video mode for DP
to accommodate CDM related changes.
Changes in v4:
- Remove hw_cdm check in dpu_encoder_needs_periph_flush()
- Remove hw_cdm check when getting the fmt_fourcc in
dpu_encoder_phys_vid_enable()
Changes in v2:
- Move timing engine programming to a separate patch from this
one
- Move update_pending_flush_periph() invocation completely to
this patch
- Change the logic of dpu_encoder_get_drm_fmt() so that it only
calls drm_mode_is_420_only() instead of doing additional
unnecessary checks
- Create new functions msm_dp_needs_periph_flush() and it's
supporting function dpu_encoder_needs_periph_flush() to check
if the mode is YUV420 and VSC SDP is enabled before doing a
peripheral flush

DP controller can be setup to operate in either SDP update flush mode or
peripheral flush mode based on the DP controller hardware version.
Starting in DP v1.2, the hardware documents require the use of
peripheral flush mode for SDP packets such as PPS OR VSC SDP packets.
In-line with this guidance, lets program the DP controller to use
peripheral flush mode starting DP v1.2
Changes in v4:
- Clear up that DP_MAINLINK_CTRL_FLUSH_MODE register requires
the use of bits [24:23]
- Modify macros DP_MAINLINK_FLUSH_MODE_UPDATE_SDP and
DP_MAINLINK_FLUSH_MODE_SDP_PERIPH_UPDATE to explicitly set
their values in the bits of DP_MAINLINK_CTRL_FLUSH_MODE_MASK
Changes in v3:
- Clear up that the DP_MAINLINK_FLUSH_MODE_SDE_PERIPH_UPDATE
macro is setting bits [24:23] to a value of 3
Changes in v2:
- Use the original dp_catalog_hw_revision() function to
correctly check the DP HW version

Add support to pack and send the VSC SDP packet for DP. This therefore
allows the transmision of format information to the sinks which is
needed for YUV420 support over DP.
Changes in v5:
- Slightly modify use of drm_dp_vsc_sdp_pack()
- Remove dp_catalog NULL checks
- Modify dp_utils_pack_sdp_header() to more clearly pack the
header buffer
- Move dp_utils_pack_sdp_header() inside of
dp_catalog_panel_send_vsc_sdp to clearly show the relationship
between the header buffer and the vsc_sdp struct
- Due to the last point, remove the dp_utils_pack_vsc_sdp()
function and only call drm_dp_vsc_sdp_pack() in
dp_panel_setup_vsc_sdp_yuv_420()
Changes in v4:
- Remove struct msm_dp_sdp_with_parity
- Use dp_utils_pack_sdp_header() to pack the SDP header and
parity bytes into a buffer
- Use this buffer when writing the VSC SDP data in
dp_catalog_panel_send_vsc_sdp()
- Write to all of the MMSS_DP_GENERIC0 registers instead of just
the ones with non-zero values
Changes in v3:
- Create a new struct, msm_dp_sdp_with_parity, which holds the
packing information for VSC SDP
- Use drm_dp_vsc_sdp_pack() to pack the data into the new
msm_dp_sdp_with_parity struct instead of specifically packing
for YUV420 format
- Modify dp_catalog_panel_send_vsc_sdp() to send the VSC SDP
data using the new msm_dp_sdp_with_parity struct
Changes in v2:
- Rename GENERIC0_SDPSIZE macro to GENERIC0_SDPSIZE_VALID
- Remove dp_sdp from the dp_catalog struct since this data is
being allocated at the point used
- Create a new function in dp_utils to pack the VSC SDP data
into a buffer
- Create a new function that packs the SDP header bytes into a
buffer. This function is made generic so that it can be
utilized by dp_audio
header bytes into a buffer
- Create a new function in dp_utils that takes the packed buffer
and writes to the DP_GENERIC0_* registers
- Split the dp_catalog_panel_config_vsc_sdp() function into two
to disable/enable sending VSC SDP packets
- Check the DP HW version using the original useage of
dp_catalog_hw_revision() and correct the version checking
logic
- Rename dp_panel_setup_vsc_sdp() to
dp_panel_setup_vsc_sdp_yuv_420() to explicitly state that
currently VSC SDP is only being set up to support YUV420 modes

create new files dp_utils.c and dp_utils.h and move the parity

This reverts commit e467e0bde8 ("drm/msm/dp: use
drm_bridge_hpd_notify() to report HPD status changes").
The commit changed the way how the MSM DP driver communicates
HPD-related events to the userspace. The mentioned commit made some of
the HPD events being reported earlier. This way userspace starts poking
around. It interacts in a bad way with the dp_bridge_detect and the
driver's state machine, ending up either with the very long delays
during hotplug detection or even inability of the DP driver to report
the display as connected.
A proper fix will involve redesigning of the HPD handling in the MSM DP
driver. It is underway, but it will be intrusive and can not be thought
about as a simple fix for the issue. Thus, revert the offending commit.

Currently DP driver is executed independent of PM runtime framework.
This leads msm eDP panel can not being detected by edp_panel driver
during generic_edp_panel_probe() due to AUX DPCD read failed at
edp panel driver. Incorporate PM runtime framework into DP driver so
that host controller's power and clocks are enable/disable through
PM runtime mechanism. Once PM runtime framework is incorporated into
DP driver, waking up device from power up path is not necessary. Hence
remove it.
After incorporating pm_runtime framework into eDP/DP driver,
dp_pm_suspend() to handle power off both DP phy and controller during
suspend and dp_pm_resume() to handle power on both DP phy and controller
during resume are not necessary. Therefore both dp_pm_suspend() and
dp_pm_resume() are dropped and replace with dp_pm_runtime_suspend() and

The DP CTS test for EDID last block checksum expects the checksum for
the last block, invalid or not. Skip the validity check.
For the most part (*), the EDIDs returned by drm_get_edid() will be
valid anyway, and there's the CTS workaround to get the checksum for
completely invalid EDIDs. See commit 7948fe12d4 ("drm/msm/dp: return
correct edid checksum after corrupted edid checksum read").
This lets us remove one user of drm_edid_block_valid() with hopes the
function can be removed altogether in the future.
(*) drm_get_edid() ignores checksum errors on CTA extensions.

The function dp_link_parse_sink_count() is really just
drm_dp_read_sink_count(). It debug prints out the bit for content
protection (DP_SINK_CP_READY), but that is not useful beyond debug
because 'link->dp_link.sink_count' is overwritten to only contain the
sink_count in this same function. Just use drm_dp_read_sink_count() in
the one place this function is called to simplify.

DP PHY re-initialization done using dp_ctrl_reinitialize_mainlink() will
cause PLL unlocked initially and then PLL gets locked at the end of
initialization. PLL_UNLOCKED interrupt will fire during this time if the
interrupt mask is enabled.
However currently DP driver link training implementation incorrectly
re-initializes PHY unconditionally during link training as the PHY was
already configured in dp_ctrl_enable_mainlink_clocks().
Fix this by re-initializing the PHY only if the previous link training
failed.

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored
and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a
quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this
quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns
void.
Trivially convert the msm drm drivers from always returning zero in the
remove callback to the void returning variant.

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h
and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include
files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and
replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to
explicitly include the correct includes.

The DP component's unbind operation walks through the submodules to
unregister and clean things up. But if the unbind happens because the DP
controller itself is being removed, all the memory for those submodules
has just been freed.
Change the order of these operations to avoid the many use-after-free
that otherwise happens in this code path.

Using devres to depopulate the aux bus made sure that upon a probe
deferral the EDP panel device would be destroyed and recreated upon next
attempt.
But the struct device which the devres is tied to is the DPUs
(drm_dev->dev), which may be happen after the DP controller is torn
down.
Indications of this can be seen in the commonly seen EDID-hexdump full
of zeros in the log, or the occasional/rare KASAN fault where the
panel's attempt to read the EDID information causes a use after free on
DP resources.
It's tempting to move the devres to the DP controller's struct device,
but the resources used by the device(s) on the aux bus are explicitly
torn down in the error path. The KASAN-reported use-after-free also
remains, as the DP aux "module" explicitly frees its devres-allocated
memory in this code path.
As such, explicitly depopulate the aux bus in the error path, and in the
component unbind path, to avoid these issues.

The internal_hpd flag is set to true by dp_bridge_hpd_enable() and set to
false by dp_bridge_hpd_disable() to handle GPIO pinmuxed into DP controller
case. HDP related interrupts can not be enabled until internal_hpd is set
to true. At current implementation dp_display_config_hpd() will initialize
DP host controller first followed by enabling HDP related interrupts if
internal_hpd was true at that time. Enable HDP related interrupts depends on
internal_hpd status may leave system with DP driver host is in running state
but without HDP related interrupts being enabled. This will prevent external
display from being detected. Eliminated this dependency by moving HDP related
interrupts enable/disable be done at dp_bridge_hpd_enable/disable() directly
regardless of internal_hpd status.

The clk_bulk API already provides error messages indicating which
specific clock in the request for which the operation failed, further
more these errors are associated with the specific DisplayPort

While at it, none of the dp_power handles passed to these functions are
