8b1a8f8b20 drm/display: add CEC helpers code
Add generic CEC helpers to be used by HDMI drivers. Both notifier and
and adapter are supported for registration. Once registered, the driver
can call common set of functions to update physical address, to
invalidate it or to unregister CEC data. Unlike drm_connector_cec_funcs
(which provides interface common to all implementations, including, but
not limited to the CEC adapter, CEC notifier, CEC pin-based adapter,
etc) the struct drm_connector_hdmi_cec_adapter_ops provides callbacks
specific to the CEC adapter implementations.

bcc8553b62 drm/display: move CEC_CORE selection to DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER
THe Kconfig symbol DRM_DISPLAY_DP_AUX_CEC is a boolean which simply
toggles whether DP_AUX_CEC support should be built into the
drm_display_helper (which can be eithera module or built-in into the
kernel). If DRM_DISPLAY_DP_AUX_CEC is selected, then CEC_CORE is
selected to be built-in into the kernel even if DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER is
selected to be built as a module. Move CEC_CORE selection to the latter
symbol in order to allow it to be built as a module.

ab716b74dc drm/display/hdmi: implement hotplug functions
The HDMI Connectors need to perform a variety of tasks when the HDMI
connector state changes. Such tasks include setting or invalidating CEC
address, notifying HDMI codec driver, updating scrambler data, etc.

Implementing such tasks in a driver-specific callbacks is error prone.
Start implementing the generic helper function (currently handling only
the HDMI Codec framework) to be used by drivers utilizing HDMI Connector
framework.

0beba3f9d3 drm/bridge: connector: add support for HDMI codec framework
Add necessary glue code to be able to use new HDMI codec framework from
the DRM bridge drivers. The drm_bridge implements a limited set of the
hdmi_codec_ops interface, with the functions accepting both
drm_connector and drm_bridge instead of just a generic void pointer.

This framework is integrated with the DRM HDMI Connector framework, but
can also be used for DisplayPort connectors.

baf616647f drm/connector: implement generic HDMI audio helpers
Several DRM drivers implement HDMI codec support (despite its name it
applies to both HDMI and DisplayPort drivers). Implement generic
framework to be used by these drivers. This removes a requirement to
implement get_eld() callback and provides default implementation for
codec's plug handling.

2063ca4248 drm/display: Drop obsolete dependency on COMPILE_TEST
Since commit 0166dc11be ("of: make CONFIG_OF user selectable"), it
is possible to test-build any driver which depends on OF on any
architecture by explicitly selecting OF. Therefore depending on
COMPILE_TEST as an alternative is no longer needed.

To avoid reintroducing the randconfig bug originally fixed by commit
876271118a ("drm/display: Fix build error without CONFIG_OF"),
DRM_MSM which selects DRM_DISPLAY_DP_HELPER must explicitly depend
on OF. This is consistent with what all other DRM drivers are doing.

drm/bridge-connector: reset the HDMI connector state
On HDMI connectors which use drm_bridge_connector and DRM_BRIDGE_OP_HDMI
IGT chokes on the max_bpc property in several kms_properties tests due
to the drm_bridge_connector failing to reset HDMI-related

Call __drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_reset() if the
drm_bridge_connector has bridge_hdmi.

It is impossible to call this function from HDMI bridges, none of the
bridge callbacks correspond to the drm_connector_funcs::reset().

drm/display: stop depending on DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER
Kconfig symbols should not declare dependency on DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER.
Move all parts of DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER to an if DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER block.

It is not possible to make those symbols select DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER
because of the link issues when a part of the helper is selected to be
built-in, while other part is selected to be as module. In such a case
the modular part doesn't get built at all, leading to undefined symbols.

The only viable alternative is to split drm_display_helper.ko into
several small modules, each of them having their own dependencies.

drm/display: Fix HDMI state helper dependency
During the life of the series that introduced the
DRM_DISPLAY_HDMI_STATE_HELPER option, we reworked the Kconfig option
dependency setup to rely on depends on with commit f6d2dc03fa ("drm:
Switch DRM_DISPLAY_HDMI_HELPER to depends on") which got reverted later
on because it was creating too many issues by commit d7c128cb77
("Revert "drm: Switch DRM_DISPLAY_HDMI_HELPER to depends on"").

However, since the series was out of tree at that time,
DRM_DISPLAY_HDMI_STATE_HELPER wasn't properly updated to take the revert
into account and is now creating build issues.

Let's switch the depends on to a select to fix this.

drm/display: Select DRM_KMS_HELPER for DP helpers
The DisplayPort helpers rely on some
(__drm_atomic_helper_private_obj_duplicate_state,
drm_kms_helper_hotplug_event) helpers found in files compiled by
DRM_KMS_HELPER.

Prior to commit d674858ff9 ("drm/display: Make all helpers visible and

wasn't really a big deal. However, since that commit, it's now something
that can be enabled as is, and since there's no expressed dependency
with DRM_KMS_HELPER, it can break too.

Since DRM_KMS_HELPER is a selectable option for now, let's select it for
DRM_DISPLAY_DP_HELPER.

drm/display: Make all helpers visible and switch to depends on
All the helpers Kconfig symbols so far have relied on drivers selecting
them, and that's what most drivers did.

However, this creates an issue nowadays when helpers depend on each
other, and select doesn't transitively select a dependency dependencies.

Depends on doesn't have that limitation though, so let's convert those
symbols to be dependable and use depends on between them too.

295654f7e5 drm/dp: Add support for DP tunneling
Add support for Display Port tunneling. For now this includes the
support for Bandwidth Allocation Mode (BWA), leaving adding Panel Replay
support for later.

BWA allows using displays that share the same (Thunderbolt) link with
their maximum resolution. Atm, this may not be possible due to the
coarse granularity of partitioning the link BW among the displays on the
link: the BW allocation policy is in a SW/FW/HW component on the link
(on Thunderbolt it's the SW or FW Connection Manager), independent of
the driver. This policy will set the DPRX maximum rate and lane count
DPCD registers the GFX driver will see (0x00000, 0x00001, 0x02200,
0x02201) based on the available link BW.

The granularity of the current BW allocation policy is coarse, based on
the required link rate in the 1.62Gbs..8.1Gbps range and it may prevent
using higher resolutions all together: the display connected first will
get a share of the link BW which corresponds to its full DPRX capability
(regardless of the actual mode it uses). A subsequent display connected
will only get the remaining BW, which could be well below its full
capability.

BWA solves the above coarse granularity (reducing it to a 250Mbs..1Gps
range) and first-come/first-served issues by letting the driver request
the BW for each display on a link which reflects the actual modes the
displays use.

This patch adds the DRM core helper functions, while a follow-up change
in the patchset takes them into use in the i915 driver.

v2:
- Fix prepare_to_wait vs. wake-up cond check order in
  allocate_tunnel_bw(). (Ville)
- Move tunnel==NULL checks from callers in drivers to here. (Ville)

  the function. (Ville)

  this function. (Ville)
- Add separate group_free_bw() helper and describe what the tunnel
  estimated BW includes. (Ville)
- Improve help text for CONFIG_DRM_DISPLAY_DP_TUNNEL. (Ville)
- Add code comment explaining the purpose of DPCD reg read helpers.
  (Ville)
- Add code comment describing the tunnel group name prefix format.

The DRM_DP_AUX_CHARDEV and DRM_DP_CEC Kconfig symbols enable code that use

But these don't select the DRM_DISPLAY_DP_HELPER symbol, meaning that it

Besides making these symbols to select CONFIG_DRM_DISPLAY_DP_HELPER, make
them to depend on DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER, since can't be enabled without it.

Note: It seems this has been an issue for a long time but was made easier
to reproduce after the commit 1e0f66420b ("drm/display: Introduce a DRM

4fc8cb47fc drm/display: Move HDMI helpers into display-helper module
Move DRM's HMDI helpers into the display/ subdirectoy and add it
to DRM's display helpers. Update all affected drivers. No functional
changes.

The HDMI helpers were implemented in the EDID and connector code, but
are actually unrelated. With the move to the display-helper library, we
can remove the dependency on drm_edid.{c,h} in some driver's HDMI source
files.

Several of the HDMI helpers remain in EDID code because both share parts
of their implementation internally. With better refractoring of the EDID
code, those HDMI helpers could be moved into the display-helper library
as well.

1e0f66420b drm/display: Introduce a DRM display-helper module
Replace the DP-helper module with a display-helper module. The
support for DisplayPort becomes an internal option that drivers
have to select. Update all related Kconfig and Makefile rules.

Besides the existing code for DisplayPort, the new module will
contain helpers for other video-output standards, such as HDMI.
Drivers will have to select their required video-output helpers.

Linking all display-related code into a single module avoids the
proliferation of small kernel modules.

The module parameters drm_dp_cec_unregister_delay, dp_aux_i2c_speed_khz,
and dp_aux_i2c_transfer_size are moving from the drm_dp_helper namespace
to drm_display_helper.
