BackMerge tag 'v6.15-rc5' into drm-next
Linux 6.15-rc5, requested by tzimmerman for fixes required in drm-next.
Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
The main changes are once more for the NXP i.MX platform, addressing
multiple regressions in recent devicetree updates for the i.MX8MM
and i.MX6ULL SoCs, a PCIe fix for i.MX9 and a MAINTAINERS file update
to disambiguate NXP i.MX SoCs from Sony IMX image sensors.
The stm32 platform devicetree files get some compatibility fixes
for the interrupt controller node.
Another compatibility fix is done for the Arm Morello platform's
cache controller node.
The code changes are all for firmware drivers, fixing kernel-side
bugs on the Arm FF-A and SCMI drivers.

This patchset adds some checks on kernel minimum rate requirements.
This avoids potential clock rate misconfiguration, when setting the
kernel frequency on STM32MP2 SoCs.
A fix that addresses incorrect release of Rx buffer ownership in the
driver. The fix specificially avoids releasing Rx buffer ownership with
FFA_RX_RELEASE if it wasn’t acquired during a FFA_PARTITION_INFO_GET call
that only requested the partition count. This prevents unnecessary errors
like FFA_RET_DENIED from firmware when buffers are not actually owned by
the driver.

Couple of fixes addressing issues with timeout in the polling path
and device reference count imbalance detected by kmemleak.
1. The change fixes a timeout issue in the polling path of SCMI transactions
where false positives could occur if the polling thread was pre-empted,
causing it to appear as though a timeout occurred when it hadn't. The fix
ensures that the polling result is verified before reporting a timeout,
accounting for potential pre-emption or out-of-order replies.
2. It also corrects a device reference count imbalance caused by
device_find_child() during device destruction, which prevented proper
cleanup and triggered memory leaks detected by KMemleak.

To allow ACPM clients to simply be children of the ACPM node in DT,
they need to be able to get the ACPM handle based on that ACPM node
directly.
Add an API to allow them to do so, devm_acpm_get_by_node().
At the same time, the previous approach of acquiring the ACPM handle
via a DT phandle is now obsolete and we can remove
devm_acpm_get_by_phandle(), which was there to facilitate that. There
are no existing or anticipated upcoming users of that API, because all
clients should be children of the ACPM node going forward.
Note that no DTs have been merged that use the old approach, so doing
this API change in this driver now will not affect any existing DTs or
client drivers.

This driver emits error messages when client drivers are trying to get
an interface handle to this driver here before this driver has
completed _probe().
Given this driver returns -EPROBE_DEFER in that case, this is not an
error and shouldn't be emitted to the log, similar to how
dev_err_probe() behaves, so just remove them.
This change also allows us to simplify the logic around releasing of
the acpm_np handle.

ACPM commands that return more than 8 bytes currently don't work
correctly, as this driver ignores any such returned bytes.
This is evident in at least acpm_pmic_bulk_read(), where up to 8
registers can be read back and those 8 register values are placed
starting at &xfer->rxd[8].
The reason is that xfter->rxlen is initialized with the size of a
pointer (8 bytes), rather than the size of the byte array that pointer
points to (16 bytes)
Update the code such that we set the number of bytes expected to be the
size of the rx buffer.
Note1: While different commands have different lengths rx buffers, we
have to specify the same length for all rx buffers since acpm_get_rx()
assumes they're all the same length.
Note2: The different commands also have different lengths tx buffers,
but before switching the code to use the minimum possible length, some
more testing would have to be done to ensure this works correctly in
all situations. It seems wiser to just apply this fix here without
additional logic changes for now.

Add Logical Machine Management(LMM) protocol which is intended for boot,
shutdown, and reset of other logical machines (LM). It is usually used to
allow one LM to manager another used as an offload or accelerator engine.

Provide a couple of additional debugfs entries to enable polling-mode on

Transport devices are currently being unintentionally matched to
drivers with the same name, allowing their probe function to be
invoked. However, the bus notifier prevents them from setting up
handles, rendering them unable to utilize SCMI core functionality.
Instead of relying on the bus notifier which can't prevent bus matching
even if it returns early or error, move the check into the bus matching
logic itself. This change ensures that transport devices are entirely
excluded from driver matching, preventing any unintended probe attempts.

With the decoupling of transport drivers from the SCMI core, the
"arm-scmi" platform device is now created dynamically from the probed
transport driver.
Currently, this "arm-scmi" platform device is added to the root of
the platform bus since no parent is assigned. However, the transport
platform device, created from the "firmware:scmi" node in the device
tree, should be considered its parent.
Ensure that the parent device is correctly set for the "arm-scmi"
platform device, aligning it with the correct transport hierarchy.
This will be more useful on systems with multiple transport and/or
SCMI firmware instances as the hierarchy is maintained correctly.

Refactors the error logging related to SCMI device creation. The goal
is to remove duplicated error-handling code and centralize it into a
single helper function: _scmi_device_create().
By doing so, any code redundancy around error logging is avoided, as
error logging during device creation will now be handled by a unified
helper function.

Currently, the device matching logic is duplicated in two functions:
- scmi_dev_match() used by the scmi_bus to match scmi_devices with
scmi_drivers.
- scmi_child_dev_find() used to check for the presence of a device
with the same name and protocol_id to avoid adding duplicates to
the bus.
Refactor the code to eliminate the redundant matching logic and
consolidates the functionality for better maintainability and efficiency.

Currently, devices without a name in the id_table cannot register drivers,
and no scmi_device is created without a name via scmi_device_create().
However, the function __scmi_device_create() allows devices with no name,
which are then labeled as "unknown."
Removes support for matching scmi_device instances without a name,
ensuring consistency across the driver registration and probing process.

Call cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version() to get the firmware version
from the dummy XM header data in cs_dsp_bin_err_test_common_init().
Make the same change to cs_dsp_bin_test_common_init() and remove the
cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version_from_regmap() function.
The code in cs_dsp_test_bin.c was correctly calling
cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version_from_regmap() to fetch the fw version
from a dummy header it wrote to XM registers. However in
cs_dsp_test_bin_error.c the test doesn't stuff a dummy header into XM, it
populates it the normal way using a wmfw file. It should have called
cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version() to get the data from its blob
buffer, but was calling cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version_from_regmap().
As nothing had been written to the registers this returned the value of
uninitialized data.
The only other use of cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version_from_regmap()
was cs_dsp_test_bin.c, but it doesn't need to use it. It already has a
blob buffer containing the dummy XM header so it can use
cs_dsp_mock_xm_header_get_fw_version() to read from that.

Completion of the FFA_PARTITION_INFO_GET ABI transfers the ownership of
the caller’s Rx buffer from the producer(typically partition mnager) to
the consumer(this driver/OS). FFA_RX_RELEASE transfers the ownership
from the consumer back to the producer.
However, when we set the flag to just return the count of partitions
deployed in the system corresponding to the specified UUID while
invoking FFA_PARTITION_INFO_GET, the Rx buffer ownership shouldn't be
transferred to this driver. We must be able to skip transferring back
the ownership to the partition manager when we request just to get the
count of the partitions as the buffers are not acquired in this case.
Firmware may return FFA_RET_DENIED or other error for the ffa_rx_release()
in such cases.

Using device_find_child() to lookup the proper SCMI device to destroy
causes an unbalance in device refcount, since device_find_child() calls an
implicit get_device(): this, in turns, inhibits the call of the provided
release methods upon devices destruction.
As a consequence, one of the structures that is not freed properly upon
destruction is the internal struct device_private dev->p populated by the
drivers subsystem core.
KMemleak detects this situation since loading/unloding some SCMI driver
causes related devices to be created/destroyed without calling any
device_release method.

Here is the big set of driver core updates for 6.15-rc1. Lots of stuff
happened this development cycle, including:
- kernfs scaling changes to make it even faster thanks to rcu
- bin_attribute constify work in many subsystems
- faux bus minor tweaks for the rust bindings
- rust binding updates for driver core, pci, and platform busses,
making more functionaliy available to rust drivers. These are all
due to people actually trying to use the bindings that were in 6.14.
- make Rafael and Danilo full co-maintainers of the driver core
codebase
- other minor fixes and updates.
This has been in linux-next for a while now, with the only reported
issue being some merge conflicts with the rust tree. Depending on which
tree you pull first, you will have conflicts in one of them. The merge
resolution has been in linux-next as an example of what to do, or can be
found here:

We've received lots of commits at this time, as a result of various
cleanup and refactoring works as well as a few new drivers and the
generic SoundWire support. Most of changes are device-specific,
little about the core changes. Some highlights below:
Core:
* A couple of (rather minor) race fixes in ALSA sequencer code
* A regression fix in ALSA timer code that may lead to a deadlock
ASoC:
* A large series of code conversion to use modern terminology for the
clocking configuration
* Conversions of PM ops with the modern macros in all ASoC drivers
* Clarification of the control operations
* Prepartory work for more generic SoundWire SCDA controls
* Support for AMD ACP 7.x, AWINC WM88166, Everest ES8388, Intel AVS
PEAKVOL and GAIN DSP modules Mediatek MT8188 DMIC, NXP i.MX95,
nVidia Tegra interconnects, Rockchip RK3588 S/PDIF, Texas
Instruments SN012776 and TAS5770L, and Wolfson WM8904 DMICs
Others:
* Conversions of PM ops with the modern macros in the rest drivers
* USB-audio quirks and fixes for Presonus Studio, DJM-A9, CME
* HD-audio quirks and fixes ASUS, HP, Lenovo, and others
Note that the PR contains some changes from the tip tree for AMD code,
and it might give some merge conflict due to the rebase afterwards.

* Nested virtualization support for VGICv3, giving the nested
hypervisor control of the VGIC hardware when running an L2 VM
* Removal of 'late' nested virtualization feature register masking,
making the supported feature set directly visible to userspace
* Support for emulating FEAT_PMUv3 on Apple silicon, taking advantage
of an IMPLEMENTATION DEFINED trap that covers all PMUv3 registers
* Paravirtual interface for discovering the set of CPU implementations
where a VM may run, addressing a longstanding issue of guest CPU
errata awareness in big-little systems and cross-implementation VM
migration
* Userspace control of the registers responsible for identifying a
particular CPU implementation (MIDR_EL1, REVIDR_EL1, AIDR_EL1),
allowing VMs to be migrated cross-implementation
* pKVM updates, including support for tracking stage-2 page table
allocations in the protected hypervisor in the 'SecPageTable' stat
* Fixes to vPMU, ensuring that userspace updates to the vPMU after
KVM_RUN are reflected into the backing perf events
LoongArch:
* Remove unnecessary header include path
* Assume constant PGD during VM context switch
* Add perf events support for guest VM
RISC-V:
* Disable the kernel perf counter during configure
* KVM selftests improvements for PMU
* Fix warning at the time of KVM module removal
x86:
* Add support for aging of SPTEs without holding mmu_lock. Not taking mmu_lock
allows multiple aging actions to run in parallel, and more importantly avoids
stalling vCPUs. This includes an implementation of per-rmap-entry locking;
aging the gfn is done with only a per-rmap single-bin spinlock taken, whereas
locking an rmap for write requires taking both the per-rmap spinlock and
the mmu_lock.
Note that this decreases slightly the accuracy of accessed-page information,
because changes to the SPTE outside aging might not use atomic operations
even if they could race against a clear of the Accessed bit. This is
deliberate because KVM and mm/ tolerate false positives/negatives for
accessed information, and testing has shown that reducing the latency of
aging is far more beneficial to overall system performance than providing
"perfect" young/old information.
* Defer runtime CPUID updates until KVM emulates a CPUID instruction, to
coalesce updates when multiple pieces of vCPU state are changing, e.g. as
part of a nested transition.
* Fix a variety of nested emulation bugs, and add VMX support for synthesizing
nested VM-Exit on interception (instead of injecting #UD into L2).
* Drop "support" for async page faults for protected guests that do not set
SEND_ALWAYS (i.e. that only want async page faults at CPL3)
* Bring a bit of sanity to x86's VM teardown code, which has accumulated
a lot of cruft over the years. Particularly, destroy vCPUs before
the MMU, despite the latter being a VM-wide operation.
* Add common secure TSC infrastructure for use within SNP and in the
future TDX
* Block KVM_CAP_SYNC_REGS if guest state is protected. It does not make
sense to use the capability if the relevant registers are not
available for reading or writing.
* Don't take kvm->lock when iterating over vCPUs in the suspend notifier to
fix a largely theoretical deadlock.
* Use the vCPU's actual Xen PV clock information when starting the Xen timer,
as the cached state in arch.hv_clock can be stale/bogus.
* Fix a bug where KVM could bleed PVCLOCK_GUEST_STOPPED across different
PV clocks; restrict PVCLOCK_GUEST_STOPPED to kvmclock, as KVM's suspend
notifier only accounts for kvmclock, and there's no evidence that the
flag is actually supported by Xen guests.
* Clean up the per-vCPU "cache" of its reference pvclock, and instead only
track the vCPU's TSC scaling (multipler+shift) metadata (which is moderately
expensive to compute, and rarely changes for modern setups).
* Don't write to the Xen hypercall page on MSR writes that are initiated by
the host (userspace or KVM) to fix a class of bugs where KVM can write to
guest memory at unexpected times, e.g. during vCPU creation if userspace has
set the Xen hypercall MSR index to collide with an MSR that KVM emulates.
* Restrict the Xen hypercall MSR index to the unofficial synthetic range to
reduce the set of possible collisions with MSRs that are emulated by KVM
(collisions can still happen as KVM emulates Hyper-V MSRs, which also reside
in the synthetic range).
* Clean up and optimize KVM's handling of Xen MSR writes and xen_hvm_config.
* Update Xen TSC leaves during CPUID emulation instead of modifying the CPUID
entries when updating PV clocks; there is no guarantee PV clocks will be
updated between TSC frequency changes and CPUID emulation, and guest reads
of the TSC leaves should be rare, i.e. are not a hot path.
x86 (Intel):
* Fix a bug where KVM unnecessarily reads XFD_ERR from hardware and thus
modifies the vCPU's XFD_ERR on a #NM due to CR0.TS=1.
* Pass XFD_ERR as the payload when injecting #NM, as a preparatory step
for upcoming FRED virtualization support.
* Decouple the EPT entry RWX protection bit macros from the EPT Violation
bits, both as a general cleanup and in anticipation of adding support for
emulating Mode-Based Execution Control (MBEC).
* Reject KVM_RUN if userspace manages to gain control and stuff invalid guest
state while KVM is in the middle of emulating nested VM-Enter.
* Add a macro to handle KVM's sanity checks on entry/exit VMCS control pairs
in anticipation of adding sanity checks for secondary exit controls (the
primary field is out of bits).
x86 (AMD):
* Ensure the PSP driver is initialized when both the PSP and KVM modules are
built-in (the initcall framework doesn't handle dependencies).
* Use long-term pins when registering encrypted memory regions, so that the
pages are migrated out of MIGRATE_CMA/ZONE_MOVABLE and don't lead to
excessive fragmentation.
* Add macros and helpers for setting GHCB return/error codes.
* Add support for Idle HLT interception, which elides interception if the vCPU
has a pending, unmasked virtual IRQ when HLT is executed.
* Fix a bug in INVPCID emulation where KVM fails to check for a non-canonical
address.
* Don't attempt VMRUN for SEV-ES+ guests if the vCPU's VMSA is invalid, e.g.
because the vCPU was "destroyed" via SNP's AP Creation hypercall.
* Reject SNP AP Creation if the requested SEV features for the vCPU don't
match the VM's configured set of features.
Selftests:
* Fix again the Intel PMU counters test; add a data load and do CLFLUSH{OPT} on the data
instead of executing code. The theory is that modern Intel CPUs have
learned new code prefetching tricks that bypass the PMU counters.
* Fix a flaw in the Intel PMU counters test where it asserts that an event is
counting correctly without actually knowing what the event counts on the
underlying hardware.
* Fix a variety of flaws, bugs, and false failures/passes dirty_log_test, and
improve its coverage by collecting all dirty entries on each iteration.
* Fix a few minor bugs related to handling of stats FDs.
* Add infrastructure to make vCPU and VM stats FDs available to tests by
default (open the FDs during VM/vCPU creation).
* Relax an assertion on the number of HLT exits in the xAPIC IPI test when
running on a CPU that supports AMD's Idle HLT (which elides interception of
HLT if a virtual IRQ is pending and unmasked).

Set ret = 0 on successful completion of the processing loop in
cs_dsp_load() and cs_dsp_load_coeff() to ensure that the function
returns 0 on success.
All normal firmware files will have at least one data block, and
processing this block will set ret == 0, from the result of either
regmap_raw_write() or cs_dsp_parse_coeff().
The kunit tests create a dummy firmware file that contains only the
header, without any data blocks. This gives cs_dsp a file to "load"
that will not cause any side-effects. As there aren't any data blocks,
the processing loop will not set ret == 0.
Originally there was a line after the processing loop:
ret = regmap_async_complete(regmap);
which would set ret == 0 before the function returned.
Commit fe08b7d508 ("firmware: cs_dsp: Remove async regmap writes")
changed the regmap write to a normal sync write, so the call to
regmap_async_complete() wasn't necessary and was removed. It was
overlooked that the ret here wasn't only to check the result of
regmap_async_complete(), it also set the final return value of the
function.

Add support for digital message signing with the private key stored in
the rWTM secure coprocessor. Turris Mox devices have an ECDSA private

private key is not readable from the rWTM, but rWTM firmware allows for
signing messages with it and retrieving the public key.
This is exposed to userspace via the keyctl API.

Remove EFI zboot's dependency on the decompression wrappers used by the
legacy decompressor boot code, which can only process the input in one
go, and this will not work for upcoming support for embedded ELF images.
They also do some odd things like providing a barebones malloc()
implementation, which is not needed in a hosted environment such as the
EFI boot services.
So instead, implement GZIP deflate and ZSTD decompression in terms of
the underlying libraries. Support for other compression algoritms has
already been dropped.

Ben reports spurious EFI zboot failures on a system where physical RAM
starts at 0x0. When doing random memory allocation from the EFI stub on
such a platform, a random seed of 0x0 (which means no entropy source is
available) will result in the allocation to be placed at address 0x0 if
sufficient space is available.
When this allocation is subsequently passed on to the decompression
code, the 0x0 address is mistaken for NULL and the code complains and
gives up.
So avoid address 0x0 when doing random allocation, and set the minimum
address to the minimum alignment.

The T-Head TH1520 SoC uses an E902 co-processor running Always-On (AON)
firmware to manage power, clock, and other system resources [1]. This
patch introduces a driver implementing the AON firmware protocol,
allowing the Linux kernel to communicate with the firmware via mailbox
channels. Through an RPC-based interface, the kernel can initiate power
state transitions, update resource configurations, and perform other
AON-related tasks.

Given that memset/memcpy are intrinsics, the compiler might insert calls
to these routines unexpectedly, including in code that executes after
ExitBootServices(). In this case, the respective boot services are no
longer accessible, and calling them will cause a crash.
So fall back to a bytewise copy/store if this happens to occur, even
though no such occurrences are known to exist in the kernel currently.

The scmi_common_fastchannel_db_ring() function calls either ioread64()

The same logic is used to define ioread64() itself in the

This update primarily focuses on FF-A framework notification support
along with other improvements, including UUID handling enhancements
and various fixes.
1. FF-A framework notification upport
- Adds support for multiple UUIDs per partition to register individual
SRI callbacks.
- Handles Rx buffer full framework notifications and provides a general
interface for future extensions.
2. Improved multiple UUID/services per-partition handling
- Adds support for UUID passing in FFA_MSG_SEND2, improving multiple
UUID/service support in the driver.
- Introduces a helper function to check whether a partition can
receive REQUEST2 messages.
3. Partition handling generic improvements
- Implements device unregistration for better partition cleanup.
- Improves handling of the host partition presence in partition info.
4. FF-A version updates
- Upgrades the driver version to FF-A v1.2.
- Rejects major versions higher than the driver version as incompatible.
5. Big-Endian support fixes
- Fixes big-endian issues in:
__ffa_partition_info_regs_get()
__ffa_partition_info_get()
- Big-endian support is still incomplete, and only these changes can
be verified without additional application/testing updates at the
moment. We can discover all the partitions correctly with big-endian
kernel now.
6. Miscellaneous fixes
- Fixes function prototype misalignments in: sync_send_receive{,2}
- Adds explicit type casting for return values from: FFA_VERSION
and NOTIFICATION_INFO_GET
- Corrects vCPU list parsing in ffa_notification_info_get().
7. UUID management in the driver and DMA mask updates
- Replaces UUID buffer with the standard UUID format in ffa_partition_info
structure.
- Fixes a typo in some FF-A bus macros.
- Sets dma_mask for FF-A devices.
In short, this update enhances notification handling, UUID support, and
overall robustness of the FF-A driver while addressing multiple fixes
and cleanups.

Merge tag 'ffa-updates-6.15' of https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sudeep.holla/linux into soc/drivers
Arm FF-A updates for v6.15
__ffa_partition_info_regs_get()
__ffa_partition_info_get()
- Big-endian support is still incomplete, and only these changes can
be verified without additional application/testing updates at the
moment. We can discover all the partitions correctly with big-endian
kernel now.
6. Miscellaneous fixes
- Fixes function prototype misalignments in: sync_send_receive{,2}

Couple of updates around the flexibility in SCMI device names and
addition of name, protocol id attributes and modalias for SCMI

Currently, in the scmi_protocol_device_request() function, SCMI device
names ust be unique across all protocols. However, this constraint is
being relaxed, allowing devices in different protocols to share the
same name. The change aims to provide more flexibility in naming devices

Just a single update introducing the support for the optional SOC_ID
name string from the Arm SMCCC v1.6 specification.
If the SOC_ID name string is implemented, the machine field of the SoC
Device Attributes will reflect it.
The original intent of SOC_ID was to provide a JEP-106 code for the SiP
and the SoC revision to uniquely identify the SoC. However, there has
been a request to add this optional name so that SoC firmware can
directly provide the SoC name to the OS.
This change avoids the need for frequent updates to various tools that
would otherwise require maintaining hardcoded model/machine name tables
for new SoCs.

Issue Number 1.6 of the Arm SMC Calling Convention introduces an optional
SOC_ID name string. If implemented, point the 'machine' field of the SoC
Device Attributes at this string so that it will appear under
/sys/bus/soc/devices/soc0/machine.
On Arm SMC compliant SoCs, this will allow things like 'lscpu' to
eventually get a SoC provider model name from there rather than each
tool/utility needing to get a possibly inconsistent, obsolete, or incorrect
model/machine name from its own hardcoded model/machine name table.

Pull EFI fixes from Ard Biesheuvel:
"Another couple of EFI fixes for v6.14.
Only James's patch stands out, as it implements a workaround for odd
behavior in fwupd in user space, which creates EFI variables by
touching a file in efivarfs, clearing the immutable bit (which gets
set automatically for $reasons) and then opening it again for writing,
none of which is really necessary.
The fwupd author and LVFS maintainer is already rolling out a fix for
this on the fwupd side, and suggested that the workaround in this PR
could be backed out again during the next cycle.
(There is a semantic mismatch in efivarfs where some essential
variable attributes are stored in the first 4 bytes of the file, and
so zero length files cannot exist, as they cannot be written back to
the underlying variable store. So now, they are dropped once the last
reference is released.)

mokvar: Failed to map EFI MOKvar config table pa=0x7c4c3000, size=265187.
Mapping the entire structure isn't actually necessary, as we don't ever
need more than one entry header mapped at once.
Changes efi_mokvar_table_init() to only map each entry header, not the
entire table, when determining the table size. Since we're not mapping
any data past the variable name, it also changes the code to enforce
that each variable name is NUL terminated, rather than attempting to
verify it in place.

A collection of fixes. The only slightly large change is for ASoC

All the rest are small device-specific fixes and should be fairly

Change calls to async regmap write functions to use the normal
blocking writes so that the cs35l56 driver can use spi_bus_lock() to
gain exclusive access to the SPI bus.
As this is part of a fix, it makes only the minimal change to swap the
functions to the blocking equivalents. There's no need to risk
reworking the buffer allocation logic that is now partially redundant.
The async writes are a 12-year-old workaround for inefficiency of
synchronous writes in the SPI subsystem. The SPI subsystem has since
been changed to avoid the overheads, so this workaround should not be
necessary.
The cs35l56 driver needs to use spi_bus_lock() prevent bus activity
while it is soft-resetting the cs35l56. But spi_bus_lock() is
incompatible with spi_async() calls, which will fail with -EBUSY.

The difference between the PE and handover entrypoints in the EFI stub
is that the former allocates a struct boot_params whereas the latter
expects one from the caller. Currently, these are two completely
separate entrypoints, duplicating some logic and both relying of
efi_exit() to return straight back to the firmware on an error.
Simplify this by making the PE entrypoint call the handover entrypoint
with NULL as the argument for the struct boot_params parameter. This
makes the code easier to follow, and removes the need to support two
different calling conventions in the mixed mode asm code.
While at it, move the assignment of boot_params_ptr into the function
that actually calls into the legacy decompressor, which is where its
value is required.

The char pointers in 'struct cs_dsp_mock_coeff_def' are expected to
point to C strings. They need to be terminated by a null byte.
However the code does not allocate that trailing null byte and only
works if by chance the allocation is followed by such a null byte.
Refactor the repeated string allocation logic into a new helper which
makes sure the terminating null is always present.

It is expected to have hypervisor framework and VM notifications bitmap
to be zero at the non-secure physical FF-A instance.

register each UUID service as a FF-A device. However when adding the
same partition info to the XArray which tracks the SRI callbacks more
than once, it fails.
In order to allow multiple UUIDs per partition to register SRI callbacks
the partition information stored in the XArray needs to be extended to
a listed list.
A function to remove the list of partition information in the XArray
is not added as there are no users at the time. All the partitions are
added at probe/initialisation and removed at cleanup stage.

Currently FF-A specification defines only one framework notification:
RX buffer full notification. This notification is signaled by the
partition manager during transmission of a partition message through
indirect messaging to,
1. Notify an endpoint that it has a pending message in its Rx buffer.
2. Inform the message receiver’s scheduler via the schedule receiver
interrupt that the receiver must be run.
In response to an FFA_MSG_SEND2 invocation by a sender endpoint, the
framework performs the following actions after the message is copied
from the Tx buffer of the sender to the Rx buffer of the receiver:
1. The notification is pended in the framework notification bitmap of
the receiver.
2. The partition manager of the endpoint that contains receiver’s
scheduler pends the schedule receiver interrupt for this endpoint.
The receiver receives the notification and copies out the message from
its Rx buffer.

Framework notifications are doorbells that are rung by the partition
managers to signal common events to an endpoint. These doorbells cannot

endpoint.

Currently, the framework notifications are not supported at all.
handle_notif_callbacks() doesn't handle them though it is called with

Also, we need to further classify the framework notifications as Secure
Partition Manager(SPM) and NonSecure Hypervisor(NS_HYP). Extend/change
notify_type enumeration to accommodate all the 4 type and rejig the

When the firmware compatibility was handled previously in the commit
8e3f9da608 ("firmware: arm_ffa: Handle compatibility with different firmware versions"),
we only addressed firmware versions that have higher minor versions
compared to the driver version which is should be considered compatible
unless the firmware returns NOT_SUPPORTED.
However, if the firmware reports higher major version than the driver
supported, we need to reject it. If the firmware can work in a compatible
mode with the driver requested version, it must return the same major

FF-A v1.2 introduces UUID field in partition message header used in

Both the FF-A core and the bus were in a single module before the
commit 18c250bd7e ("firmware: arm_ffa: Split bus and driver into distinct modules").
The arm_ffa_bus_exit() takes care of unregistering all the FF-A devices.
Now that there are 2 distinct modules, if the core driver is unloaded and
reloaded, it will end up adding duplicate FF-A devices as the previously
registered devices weren't unregistered when we cleaned up the modules.
Fix the same by unregistering all the FF-A devices on the FF-A bus during
the cleaning up of the partitions and hence the cleanup of the module.

Currently it is assumed that the firmware doesn't present the host
partition in the list of partitions presented as part of the response
to PARTITION_INFO_GET from the firmware. However, there are few
platforms that prefer to present the same in the list of partitions.
It is not manadatory but not restricted as well.
So handle the same by making sure to check the presence of the host
VM ID in the XArray partition information maintained/managed in the
driver before attempting to add it.

Currently the FF-A driver doesn't support big-endian correctly. It is
hard to regularly test the setup due to lack of test infrastructure and
tools.
In order to support full stack, we need to take small steps in getting
the support for big-endian kernel added slowly. This change fixes the
support in __ffa_partition_info_regs_get() so that the response from the
firmware are converted correctly as required. With this change, we can
enumerate all the FF-A devices correctly in the big-endian kernel if the
FFA_PARTITION_INFO_REGS_GET is supported.

Alive Clock and Power Manager (ACPM) Message Protocol is defined for
the purpose of communication between the ACPM firmware and masters
(AP, AOC, ...). ACPM firmware operates on the Active Power Management
(APM) module that handles overall power activities.
ACPM and masters regard each other as independent hardware component and
communicate with each other using mailbox messages and shared memory.
This protocol driver provides the interface for all the client drivers
making use of the features offered by the APM. Add ACPM protocol support.

UEFI 2.11 introduced EFI_MEMORY_HOT_PLUGGABLE to annotate system memory
regions that are 'cold plugged' at boot, i.e., hot pluggable memory that
is available from early boot, and described as system RAM by the
firmware.
Existing loaders and EFI applications running in the boot context will
happily use this memory for allocating data structures that cannot be
freed or moved at runtime, and this prevents the memory from being
unplugged. Going forward, the new EFI_MEMORY_HOT_PLUGGABLE attribute
should be tested, and memory annotated as such should be avoided for
such allocations.
In the EFI stub, there are a couple of occurrences where, instead of the
high-level AllocatePages() UEFI boot service, a low-level code sequence
is used that traverses the EFI memory map and carves out the requested
number of pages from a free region. This is needed, e.g., for allocating
as low as possible, or for allocating pages at random.
While AllocatePages() should presumably avoid special purpose memory and
cold plugged regions, this manual approach needs to incorporate this
logic itself, in order to prevent the kernel itself from ending up in a
hot unpluggable region, preventing it from being unplugged.
So add the EFI_MEMORY_HOTPLUGGABLE macro definition, and check for it
where appropriate.

Here is the big set of driver core and debugfs updates for 6.14-rc1.
It's coming late in the merge cycle as there are a number of merge
conflicts with your tree now, and I wanted to make sure they were
working properly. To resolve them, look in linux-next, and I will send
the "fixup" patch as a response to the pull request.
Included in here is a bunch of driver core, PCI, OF, and platform rust
bindings (all acked by the different subsystem maintainers), hence the
merge conflict with the rust tree, and some driver core api updates to
mark things as const, which will also require some fixups due to new
stuff coming in through other trees in this merge window.
There are also a bunch of debugfs updates from Al, and there is at least
one user that does have a regression with these, but Al is working on
tracking down the fix for it. In my use (and everyone else's linux-next
use), it does not seem like a big issue at the moment.
Here's a short list of the things in here:
- driver core bindings for PCI, platform, OF, and some i/o functions.
We are almost at the "write a real driver in rust" stage now,
depending on what you want to do.
- misc device rust bindings and a sample driver to show how to use
them
- debugfs cleanups in the fs as well as the users of the fs api for
places where drivers got it wrong or were unnecessarily doing things
in complex ways.
- driver core const work, making more of the api take const * for
different parameters to make the rust bindings easier overall.
- other small fixes and updates
All of these have been in linux-next with all of the aforementioned
merge conflicts, and the one debugfs issue, which looks to be resolved
"soon".

Here is the "big" set of char/misc/iio and other smaller driver
subsystem updates for 6.14-rc1. Loads of different things in here this
development cycle, highlights are:
- ntsync "driver" to handle Windows locking types enabling Wine to
work much better on many workloads (i.e. games). The driver
framework was in 6.13, but now it's enabled and fully working
properly. Should make many SteamOS users happy. Even comes with
tests!
- Large IIO driver updates and bugfixes
- FPGA driver updates
- Coresight driver updates
- MHI driver updates
- PPS driver updatesa
- const bin_attribute reworking for many drivers
- binder driver updates
- smaller driver updates and fixes
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

Enabling a (modular) test should not silently enable additional kernel
functionality, as that may increase the attack vector of a product.
Fix this by making FW_CS_DSP_KUNIT_TEST (and FW_CS_DSP_KUNIT_TEST_UTILS)
depend on REGMAP instead of selecting it.
After this, one can safely enable CONFIG_KUNIT_ALL_TESTS=m to build
modules for all appropriate tests for ones system, without pulling in
extra unwanted functionality, while still allowing a tester to manually
enable REGMAP_BUILD and this test suite on a system where REGMAP is not
enabled by default.

- Increase the headroom in the EFI memory map allocation created by the
EFI stub. This is needed because event callbacks called during
ExitBootServices() may cause fragmentation, and reallocation is not
allowed after that.
- Drop obsolete UGA graphics code and switch to a more ergonomic API to
traverse handle buffers. Simplify some error paths using a __free()
helper while at it.
- Fix some W=1 warnings when CONFIG_EFI=n
- Rely on the dentry cache to keep track of the contents of the efivarfs
filesystem, rather than using a separate linked list.
- Improve and extend efivarfs test cases.
- Synchronize efivarfs with underlying variable store on resume from
hibernation - this is needed because the firmware itself or another OS
running on the same machine may have modified it.
- Fix x86 EFI stub build with GCC 15.
- Fix kexec/x86 false positive warning in EFI memory attributes table
sanity check.

These are changes to SoC specific drivers and DT bindings that don't have
a separate subsystem tree, or that get grouped here for simplicity.
Nothing out of the ordinary for the 6.14 release here:
- Most of the updates are for Qualcomm specific drivers, adding support
for additional SoCs in the exssting drivers, and support for wrapped
encryption key access in the SCM firmware.
- The Arm SCMI firmware code gains support for having multiple
instances of firmware running, and better module auto loading.
- A few minor updates for litex, samsung, ti, tegra, mediatek, imx and
renesas platforms.
- Reset controller updates for amlogic, to add support for the A1 soc
and clean up the existing code.
- Memory controller updates for ti davinci aemif, refactoring the code
and adding a few interfaces to other drivers.
